Nestled within a strip mall is an unassuming seafood restaurant that serves up really good Korean-Chinese specialty cuisine. +The Korean-Chinese Seafood Noodle Soup also know as jjamppong or sopa de mariscos con fideos is legit. +The jjajangmyeon (noodles with black bean sauce) was delicious, too. +The customer service was great. +The owner-operator was really nice. He shared his history with us - been living in Houston for 8 years, came up with his own recipes from scratch including the jjamppong, owned three restaurants pre-Covid. -I wish the tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) was a bit more crispy and less oily like the dishes you see on Netflix's 2024 Jjajangmyeon Rhapsody. This is in a small strip mall and had my mom not known about it I never would have come in. Mom has some fish dish served over fried rice , I got the crawfish spicy (I would highly recommended ordering a small side bowl of white rice for the left over liquid from the crawfish...amazing flavor) and the other person in our party got something he used to eat in Korean and he loved it.. basically a seafood stew! Everything was hot, fresh and delicious! Not fancy here folks and I do not recommended wearing white when you go...also they do not have a liquor license so non alcoholic drinks only... but the food is solid! yum read more

We got the cream jjamppong and it was delicious. I was expecting the soup to be too creamy and cheesy but it was perfect to eat with the danmuji (yellow radish). The soup was rich and the seafood was fresh. We went on a Saturday and it was pretty popular. The server was polite and gave us aprons in case we wanted to put them on while eating. Was in a different part of town but craving crawfish. Since the season is almost over, I wanted to find somewhere nearby with reasonable prices. I came and there were a few customers eating other delicious noodle dishes which I would have tried if I hadn't been focused on crawfish. I ordered two pounds without corn or potatoes and a side of rice. The crawfish was $8.99/lb which is less than what it said on the yelp page. The server was nice and friendly. He could tell I was a new customer so he asked how I found them! I enjoyed my meal. I love their setup for you to eat, a replaceable basket for trash, gloves and tray to hold your crawfish bag. I wish I had chosen medium instead of mild because I could have used a bit more spice but it was still good. The Jjampong had a clean after taste and plenty of seafood. The Tangsuyuk was light and crispy, perfect to leave out and dip in the sauce right before eating. I placed 2 to go orders , 2 plates of fried rice , one with crawfish and shrimp, and one with only shrimp. I received my order and sat in the parking lot to eat the food because we drove 45 mins for the fried rice and realized the rice was extremely hard and the shrimp was Raw..before I could go back inside, the restaurant was closed in less than 10 mines. Google says they close at 9pm but they shut down around 8:20. I am extremely disappointed, I guess they rushed the food.. waste of time , gas and food. read more

If you like to have your seafood Asian style, then you will love this place. I like Asian style, but this was a little much for me. They do you have an option where you can take Louisiana seasoning and put it on top. That's what I did, but it wasn't as good as other places that I've been to. my only other issue is that as a whole this place was really pricey. Seafood is pricey and I'm not sure if this is a small business or the type of cost they incur, but there are definitely places elsewhere where you can get better deals. As far as convenience this is one of the closest places to me to get crab legs so I won't say that I won't be back, but if I'm willing to drive the extra 15 minutes then I'll definitely take that over this. read more

James R. had hosted his UYE here as he had heard excellent things about their crawfish. While this place is called the "Crab Ave", my posse came here for the crawfish. They were priced at $7.99/lb. I do not eat these bugs, so I wasn't too concerned about them. The 2 types of seasoning available are either with traditional Louisiana/Cajun seasoning, or Vietnamese butter-garlic sauce. There were four levels of spice: mild, medium, spicy, and extra-spicy. To customize add-ons, the rates are as following: corn (+75 cents), 3 potatoes (+$1.50), 2 sausages (+$1.99), and also rice, noodles, and a whole host of other accoutrements. Since crawfish ain't my thing, I went with a shrimp fried rice plate and a seafood soup. I also mooched 3 shrimp from James's 6 pound crawfish bag. Most of the group went with spicy flavor, while Eric went with an extra spicy level. I could see his lips were turning pink n red with the blazing fumes that were entering his mouth. Crab avenue is not kidding, when they present you the extra spicy version. My only critique of this place was that the service was slow. We came with a large group of people, so I understand that the kitchen might have been rushed, but every person got their food brought at different times. I finished mine quickly as I had not peeling and butchering to do. Mine was soup and rice. Easy intake. There were some that were still waiting for their food to arrive. We came here for crawfish season with a large party. The host called ahead to reserve a table, and one was set up 30 minutes before our arrival time. Spacious plaza with plenty of parking. This place is still a bit fresh, offering A variety of Korean dishes. The fried seafood platter was my favorite. It came with fried calamari, fried oysters, onion rings, and French fries. The fried oysters were spot on. Good enough to share with 5+ people. Also came with 3 different sauces, but I didn't think it was needed. The crawfish was decent price at about $8 per lb. Two flavors of Louisiana or garlic butter. You can pick your level of spicy. I chose garlic butter spicy instead of extra spicy. Careful on extra spicy. The seasonings on the crawfish were good and flavorful. The crawfish was also at good size at this time of the season. Some other items to fill up your tummy are their fried rice and spicy seafood noodles. The spicy seafood noodles can feed about 3 people. It was filled with seafood, noodles, veggies, and one spicy broth. This item came last and it was a struggle to finish since we were already so full on the food. Overall, services were good. I am still fantasizing about my lunch at crab ave ! Each mouthful was delicious, and the presentation just blew us away

I'm a crab leg aficionado...actually that might be an understatement. So, of course, I was craving them recently. Since this place has been on list for several months and I was in the area, I figured I'd check them out. Now I debated whether I really wanted to get steamed shellfish to go since they would taste better hot but went with it anyway. We're still in a pandemic and, although restaurants are open, they had very limited seating options in an already small space. I ended up ordering 2 lbs of Crab Legs with a couple ear of corn halves and a couple potatoes. Since I wasn't familiar with their definition of "spicy", I got one bag with the mild spice level and one with medium. Finally I chose the garlic butter sauce over the Cajun seasoning per the server's recommendation. The temperature of the legs held up better than I thought on the 25 minute drive home. They weren't overcooked and the flavor of the sauce was delicious - so glad I listened to the gentleman. I also discerned that I preferred the medium heat over the mild. It had just enough kick but want overpowering. However, they were a little smaller than I expected. If they had been larger, with more meat, this review would be five stars. Maybe I went on an off night, or possibly just got the wrong menu items for this spot, but this was some of the most disappointing food I've had in a long, long time. The snow crab legs were small and not very fresh, and the fried dumplings were the worst dumplings I've ever had. Completely tasteless and didn't even come with dumpling sauce to combat the flavor missing in the filling. I ate one dumpling, and couldn't believe the lack of flavor was right, so I ate a second to see if it was just a fluke. Good crawfish was the objective and that is exactly what we got. We came here as a large group and the owners were gracious enough to set up a large table for us so we could all eat together. Parking is abundant outside as it is in a large shopping complex. When my family and I arrived, our group were the only customers so we got extra great service. The language barrier made it slightly hard to communicate when ordering, but pointing at the menu worked just fine. They provide you with a pair of gloves and a bib as things get get pretty messy when you dive into the seafood. Here's a great tip...take pics, roll up your sleeves, and make any phone calls prior to eating or your gonna struggle once the gloves go on! On my tab, we ordered two combos. Each came with 2 lbs of crawfish with corn and sausage, and one order had a pound of shrimp and the other had a pound of snow crabs. We went with Louisiana mild on one, and garlic butter spicy on the other. One of my kiddos doesn't do mud bugs, so he opted for chicken tenders. We also shared an order of fries and garlic bread. There was a lot of us, so food came out kind of slow, but it was totally expected and worth the wait. One our food arrived, we were in seafood heaven! The crawfish was a good size, with some random monster ones. The flavors permeated through the shell and made the tiny morsel of meat so flavorful. No butter or extra seasoning required. The garlic butter was my favorite. Whatever spice level you get, expect it to be a level higher. Our table was sniffling and sweating profusely, but in a good and happy way. The Louisiana seasoning was ok, a little salty for me. The snow crab was excellent as well. Easy to crack open, with huge chunks of crab as a prize. My only complaint was the shrimp. It was very hard to peel so we ended up wasting some of it. It took too much effort for the pay off. Surprisingly. My sons chicken tenders were amazing along with the fries and garlic bread. My friend James who hosted the event was awesome enough to order jjampong for everyone to try. It was delicious as well. We also had there Dungeoness crab king crab shrimp chicken wings spicy seafood soup everything was absolutely delicious and service was friendly. Tonight I'm definitely not the only one raving how good this was the entire family including mother-in-law and sister-in-law were very satisfied. Fyi it was hotter than expected and my nose started running, BUT I couldn't stop, it was too amazing to stop. 2.) They also have the BEST shrimp I've ever had in a seafood bag. The shrimp was so fresh. And they weren't small/medium sized either they were Colossal! And tasted wonderful. 3.) I immediately wanted to take that 20 minute drive back to order another bag, but I didn't want to look greedy LoL.. I'm sure I'll return within a week though. 4.) They actually forgot about the appetizer because when they brought us the food they asked if there's anything else we needed... and I said yeah can you check on my egg rolls appetizer. This restaurant opened in my neighborhood a couple weeks ago and I am still on the hunt for a good crawfish restaurant in my neighborhood. The place is clean and nicely set up. The waitress was very friendly. Ordered lemon pepper wings and 5 lbs of crawfish to share with my wife. Lemon pepper wings were a bit small, but it was crispy and juicy and the lemon pepper rub was yummy. 2/9/2019- they made changed to the wings and they are a lot bigger and delicious! Good job chef. The crawfcame in mild and spicy, no medium. The first time I had spicy and boy was it spicy, but still very enjoyable. The sauce was so good. The second time, I had mild and it still had a kick to it and was able to enjoy every mud bug. :) I've been around town looking for the best crawfish and this is definitely in the top 5. read more

The crawfish, for the neighborhood it is located in, would be 5 stars worthy. But since I am comparing it with the rest of Houston, it's considered average. Crawfish is a little smaller than the other big known crawfish joints, majority is cooked well but some is still over cooked. Seasoning is Cajun with some garlic butter flavor. I order extra spicy and it's a good kick but not over whelming. I would continue coming here if I'm too lazy to drive to the other joints. I'm just a little disappointed that they are called crab ave, but only have king crab legs and snow crab legs. They didn't have blue crabs. You would think they carry it. I don't even know how to describe the chicken wings... it was battered fried wings... and the lemon pepper seasoning was given on the side... that is a really weird way of serving the wings. Because the dry rub seasoning can't be rubbed on the wing when it's already dry. So by then I'm eating a bland fried wing, and when dip in lemon pepper, way too salty. Not worth the price. I heard through the grapevine that this place serves good jjampong (Korean spicy seafood noodles), so I came with my family to check it out. We ordered jjampong and crawfish fried rice. The food did take awhile to come out, despite the fact that we were the only patrons there. Nevertheless, when we got our food, it looked and smelled so good! The jjampong was full of seafood - crab, shrimp, octopus/squid, and the broth had a deep seafood flavor, if you know what I mean. Also be warned, the soup was pretty spicy! We all really enjoyed it and ate it all. The crawfish fried rice was good, but nothing to write home about. The jjampong really stole the show, I think! On each of my visits, the restaurant has been pretty empty, but don't let that scare you away. My favorite crawfish place hands down. The employees and owner are always so super nice. The shrimp and crawfish are a good size! Plus, the pound is cheaper than your other local crawfish places. So once the wings came out, it was a surprise to us, but none the less, it was VERY good. Chicken has a nice crunch and seasoned lightly for the extra sauce if you want it. Nicely sized chicken as well. 5/5 Crawfish fried rice. It was either shrimp or crawfish for us since the combo was a bit pricey. Not much I can say about it. Mediocre. 3.5/5 Lastly their fries.
