Beautiful and festive decor! I really enjoyed the ambiance and how the indoors/outdoors was set. It's super colorful and fun. Plenty of outdoor seating as well and bar seating indoors. Caesar was super hospitable and very knowledgeable about the restaurant. To start, I ordered the Xochimilco specialty cocktail (Reposado Tequila, Lime Juice, Guava Puree and hibiscus syrup, very light and refreshing). For apps, we ordered the Birria Fries (comes with alot birria meat and the broth was hearty, thin fries) and the Ceviche Yucateco (both spicy fish and shrimp and boy was it SPICY! Chips that it came with were made fresh and crunchy). For my main, I got the Estilo Baja (tempura fried fish, very crispy and the chipotle mayo it was topped off paired nicely with the taco itself, highly recommend ordering this). This is one of my and my husband's favorite Mexican restaurants in Houston and has been since I moved here in 2021. We regularly frequented the location on Bellaire before finding out about this one. This was our first time dining in at this location (we had takeout two times before) and the manager, Cesar, was so kind as to come up and introduce himself. We had the tacos de asada, enchiladas suizas (verdes), and an order of fideo and rice for our toddler (who absolutely loved it)! Some other favorites we've enjoyed but didn't order at this time are the aguachile verde (every time we come I consider ordering this as my main course, it's soooo good), the ostiones gratinados serrano piquin, tacos gober, sopa de tortilla (literally my favorite I've ever had at any restaurant), sopes de asada, and the torta de asada (my favorite heavier meal here). We recently moved to the area and wanted to try this place since its walking distance from us. A huge 10/10, the food was so good, made fresh and came out hot! They have a great happy hour that goes Monday-Friday 3-7! The severs were so nice and help you navigate the menu even if it's your first time. This space has seen a few iterations over the years, most recently with "The Branch". I've always enjoyed the patio and outdoor seating when the weather's nice. The interior is colorful and lively, featuring a full bar and a small party room. A lot of locals come here as a local neighborhood bar/hangout. As a fan of Mexican cuisine, I was excited to try this new concept, saw their vision pulling from different regions of Mexico like Sinaloa and Mexico City. We started with a couple of appetizers: the Chicharrón con Guacamole and the Chicharrón de Atún, the latter was recommended by our server. The guacamole was easily the highlight of the night: creamy, well-seasoned, delicious. Unfortunately, the fried chicharrón didn't live up to expectations. It was just oily, bland, and I didn't even finish it. The fried tuna was okay with the help of the accompanying salsa. For the main course, I ordered the Tacos a la Plancha de Pescado (Fish tacos), while my friend tried the Vegetarianos tacos. The presentation was beautiful and creative, but the flavors didn't quite hit for me. The chipotle mayo was overpowering, and while the toppings and fish were fresh, the tacos were too buttery for me personally. I know some ppl like that but I'd prefer just a traditional fish taco, and honestly if I were to go to a fusion place that adds chipotle mayo, the fish taco from Torchy's or Velvet Taco is better. Just my opinion. Service was okay, we got our food quickly. They do offer happy hour, though there was no mention of it on the menu. Overall, I'd be open to giving this place another shot. We didn't drink this time around, but I'd love to try their cocktails on a return visit. I noticed several tables ordering ceviche and that might be the move next time. read more

I come to Houston a few times per year and have been to Cruderia twice now on recent visits; my most recent visit was 10/17/24 Food: I ordered the ceviche; it was one of the spiciest ceviches I've ever tried. Ceviche isn't supposed to be this spicy, not even close. What would you cover up the taste of the fish/shrimp with peppers? My father had the 'caldo de camaron" (shrimp soup), and it also was unbelievably spicey. I don't think they need to change recipes, they just need to add less pepper and/or other spiciness to their plates. I also felt that their drinks were quite pricey for the area, although they have good prices during HH, which ends at 6pm sharp. Ambiance can best be described as somewhat lively albeit loud. I ordered carne asada and when I tried the beef fajitas, I tried to chew them, but the fat/gristle made this impossible. Hoping this was just one piece, I tried several more, having to spit back way more than I could swallow. Got the lady manager over and after I told her my problem she said "I know!" Discovered this gem while searching for Mexican food in Houston. What a find! Great, fresh, authentic food, interesting delicate flour-based wagon wheel chips, and tasty drinks. Jorge was very welcoming and provided good recommendations. We had the Asado de Puerco and Quesabirria. So tender and flavorful. We started with the fresh, chunky guacamole and ended with the Pan de Elote with vanilla ice cream and cajeta sauce. So satisfying. My friend and I tried this place July 21. It was a bad experience. First of all it was so hot in the restaurant that we were sweating all through dinner. We asked the waitress to turn the air condition on but she was unable to. The flies were so bad that we spent the entire dinner waiving away flies. The service was terrible because they only had one waitress for the entire restaurant. We had to spend two hours sweating away and swatting flies and we were so anxious to leave but it was so hard getting the waitresses attention. She was nice but so overworked it was ridiculous. They had a TV on that was showing animal videos which was very pleasant to watch and the bar area had two sports channels on. This place would be nice to stop in and have a beer at. The staff was friendly and efficient. There was a server there who diligently kept the tables cleaned and even stepped up to seat someone when the host wasn't there. Been waiting for this location to open up in spring branch! It was a solo lunch so I ended up getting an order of the cochinita pibil tacos, a Jamaica agua Fresca and a slice of flan for dessert. The tacos were super flavorful and the sauce was nice and spicy. They didn't give me any silverware but it would have been nice to have some cause my tortilla was breaking apart due to the juices from the cochinita pibil. The flan was a great way to end my meal. Cruderia Mexican (not tex-mex) restaurant on Long Point between Antoine and Wirt is a really great place to eat. It's modern casual with special occasion, date-night vibes. It has a big patio and a really well stocked bar and professional mixologist. The prices are reasonable and staff is friendly and efficient. But it's the chef prepared fresh food that makes the place outstanding. Empanados are full of flavor with light, flaky, crispy crust. Buffalo cauliflower is a kick! Simple guacamole is incredible. I ordered an appetizer, and they served only one plate before the appetizer. Additionally, the food fell short of expectations, lacking the quality one would expect for the price. Overall, it was a regrettable dining experience that I won't be repeating. Just drive down to Connie's Seafood #5 if you want good seafood. I was in Austin for work and was craving fish tacos, which are often a hit or miss in general. Fortunately, they were an absolute hit at La Cruderia. I'm happy my "usual" hotel is close to this place because I'll be stopping by here often. I had their empanadas and the Baja style fish and shrimp tacos. Both were delicious and very filling. The staff was attentive, great, and friendly. Service was quick, and the setting was lovely. They played good music throughout my time there and a soccer game was playing on the several TVs in the restaurant. All in all, it's definitely worth dining here.
