Reg Picadillo Chile Con Queso

Hadn't been here in an awhile, but they never disappoint. The service was fast, the food was good, and the drinks were strong. Even though the restaurant was busy, our server, LaKenya, didn't miss a beat. She was very friendly and checked on us regularly. The kitchen was rocking and rolling. They ended up sending out our fajitas too quick, but the plates are hot and continue to cook. We wanted medium rare, so had we kept them, by the time we started to eat they'd be well done. Without hesitation, La Kenya took them back and told us to let her know when we were ready. I actually almost said we'd just keep them, but the look on my face must've said something different. La Kenya reassured me that it was ok and took them back. Food: Queso- was a little thick for me, but I always add salsa Fajitas - cooked to perfection Category 5 Tortilla soup - my absolute favorite. I add in all the extras

Beautiful interior

Even though this is located on the Katy Freeway feeder, the door faces the opposite direction and feels like a hideaway for upper class Bunker Hill types. We love sitting at the Bar which has an elegant hunting lodge vibe and sharing a plate of Fajitas. My husband loves their spicy Margaritas made with poblano liqueur and taijin seasoning. The chips are great and go well with the warm salsa. Goode Co Cantina has a playground outside so that's where the families with small kids tend to congregate, making the bar area a relatively peaceful place to eat and drink.

Mexican dining elevated. Service and atmosphere: This is very modern and stylish restaurant with great references to Mexico throughout. They offer many seating options. There is also outside patio space to enjoy in the evening. The restaurant has swanky bar area at the entrance. Food and drinks: They have well designed menu with many familiar Mexican dishes and drinks. The food was prepared very well and was nicely presented as well. Good flavours and seasoning gave this Tex Mex food extra depth. Without going into too much details, both dishes were ordered were very tasty. Pricing: $$/$$$ and definitely worth it to come back here for more delicious food

Service and interior atmosphere is really great! Our server was very friendly and nice. The chips and salsa is really the star of our meal here during our latest visit. A couple friends wanted to try out some good fajitas around the area and Goode Co came to mind. The beef fajitas were delicious. It's probably just not possible since there were multiple meats on the plate but unfortunately the plate did not come out sizzling like we are used to seeing.

Breakfast tacos

Really nice vibe in the restaurant itself. Service was nice. We went for brunch and the food was just ok. I wouldn't get the tacos again as the corn tortillas were really dry and thick. But would totally go back and try something else for sure.

A wonderful experience at Goode Co.! We ordered the queso and couldn't get enough of the delicious thick chips and pickled jalapeños that come with it- the perfect queso combo! I also tried the No. 2 plate, which was a variety platter. Everything was delicious! Our waiter was very friendly, and service was excellent. Definitely will be back next time I'm in Houston!

Treebeards - Fried Catfish - Excellent!

I have not been to a Treebeards in over 20 years - I am just not a fan of red beans and rice or…read moreJambalaya. Yet, a friend picked this restaurant and I met him. Using Waze this is a hard place to find as it is behind office buildings not on the feeder as the address suggests. Further finding outdoor parking is not possible at a peak hour but note that there is an easily accessible parking garage. This Treebeards appearance was very pretty (not what I was expecting giving my experience with the downtown location and I am not sure that it is still around). Also, some other nice restaurants in this block. The restaurant was packed with professionally dressed people. The waiter took our order, and he was accommodating to substitutions and our selection of side orders. I got fried catfish. This is not a normal selection for me as I will normally avoid fried foods other than fries and chips (yes, and I wonder why I do not lose the 5 lbs. that I need to lose). Service was quick and our order was perfect. The friend catfish was outstanding as it was right out of the fryer. It was a very pleasant experience and I would happily go back.

Treebeards off the Katy Freeway - Solid Comfort Food in a Convenient (but Tricky) Spot…read moreWe stopped by Treebeards on the Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas, and it was exactly what we needed for a hearty lunch. Finding the place can be a little confusing if you're coming right off the Katy Freeway because of the unique building structure it's tucked into -- just take it slow and you'll spot it. Once you're there, though, there's plenty of parking in the shared lot. Fair warning: it does get very crowded since so many other restaurants and retail spots share the same area, so you might have to circle a bit during peak times. The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed. They have seating both inside and outside, with plenty of tables plus some comfy couches where you can settle in and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. You order at the counter when you walk in, then grab a seat wherever you like -- super straightforward. We went with the gumbo, two orders of the chicken pot pie, and a shepherd's pie. Overall, the food was good -- solid, comforting, and filling -- but it wasn't quite amazing. We've definitely had better versions of the shepherd's pie, chicken pot pies, and gumbo at other spots around Houston. That said, the sides were legit! The macaroni and cheese and red beans and rice were both tasty and hit the spot. The jalapeño cornbread had great flavor, but man, it was extremely dry. Like, the kind of dry where you take a bite and immediately need a big swig of your drink to get it down. For dessert, we split the yellow cake with chocolate frosting. My wife really enjoyed it, though I'm not a huge fan of that style. I did notice they offer bread pudding, so I'll definitely be trying that next time. All in all, Treebeards delivered a satisfying meal in a chill setting. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area and craving some down-home comfort food.

Eat, Drink, HTX…read more Made a reservation for a Sunday night dinner for three. The restaurant is so cute and cozy with tables and booths. Lots of TVs to watch the Olympic Games while you wait for dinner. I liked watching the open pizza oven. They make a lot of pizzas here. The Eat, Drink, HTX menus are a great way to try new restaurants while giving back to the Houston Food Bank. A starter, an entree and a dessert. $25 for dinner. So many choices on this menu. A great deal while helping out those in need. "Started" with the Turkey Samosas. Four crispy pastries that are filled with seasoned ground turkey, potatoes and parsley served with cucumber yogurt. Delicious! The Ember & Greens Soup that my family had was hot, hot, hot and so tasty. The fresh soup was filled with a blend of spinach, parsley, and cilantro with chickpeas, caramelized onions, pinto beans and quinoa. My FIL polished off his bowl! For dinner, we all had the Blackened Salmon. The salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa served on roasted carrots, broccoli and potatoes and a bed of quinoa. It was a full plate, which we all took home for dinner the next day. Note: it is quite buttery. My FIL had his butter and avocado salsa on the side which worked for him. I loved mine as is. Even though we were pretty full, we still enjoyed dessert. The tiramisu was so indulgent. Loved the layered mascarpone custard, whipped cream, coffee liqueur and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. My FLI had the Chia Seed Pudding with fresh berries. What a great meal. We had a slight hiccup where the appetizers came slightly after the main meal was served, but they were so honest about what happened that I still have to give them five stars for their food and their service. Would try them again for their generous, delicious meals. Lots of parking. Water glasses were frequently filled both with and without meals. Thank you for a really nice Sunday night dinner with family.

It was a beautiful day, so it would have been the perfect day to eat outside if you like that. I'm an eat indoors kind of person, but if you like to eat outside, they do have a few tables for that. I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested Ember & Green. We really couldn't decide what to order, so we decided to order a few things and share them. We started off with the Persian Cucumber Sald. It had Persian cucumbers, heirloom cherry tomatoes, red onions, and Kalamata olives with oil and lemon dressing and topped with parsley and feta cheese. Let me tell you, thats lemon dressing was delicious! It went so well with the cucumbers. Next we ordered Blackened salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa, served with charred broccolini, roasted carrots and potatoes on a bed of cilantro green pea quinoa. I'm really not a huge fan of salmon, but I'm trying to like it more by trying it different ways. The spices that they put on the salmon were really good, not too spicy, but also, not bland. It was also cooked perfectly. Oh, and that lemon butter... that lemon butter made the meal if you ask me. It was so good. So good in fact, I had to try and make salmon with lemon butter at him the very next week. Mine didn't come out as good as Ember & Greens, but it was decent. That just means that I need to leave the cooking to the professional. For dessert we decided to share the Skillet Cookie. Its a house made chocolate chip cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with Amy's Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream and chocolate sauce. This was the only thing that we ordered that was a nope. I dont know what happened, but it didn't seem like it was cooked at all in the middle. We took a few bites, that was all we could eat of it. All and all, it was a good experience and I will go back. I'll just skip dessert next time.

We love it & cannot wait to come back many times! Food is delicious, large portion, good value pricing & totally worth it to try. Kimbap with add on Bulgogi: 9/10 on the sweeter note but still so delicious for a quick road trip snack, breakfast/brunch or even midnight grabs. Packed with generous meat inside & rolled with care. Premium Grilled eel dosirak set - 9/10 eel soaked in grilled onion with unagi sauce, sweet & tender with tasty complimentary banchan. Premium Galbi Dosirak set - 10/10 galbi cooked to perfection & taste better than most Korean BBQ place we tried. Hearty grain rice compliment the meal. Banchan within the dosirak set - I wish there's more kimchi included. Egg omelette, fish cake, bean sprout, steamed broccoli, Japchae, and salty anchovies - what can I say, everything made sense & cooked with love. Making this set healthy, homie, and hearty. I wish I could try the tempura (cannot due to allergy), but my family tried it & said it's tasty too. Overall, if you're in Houston & in the Spring Branch area. Stop by to try this set to eat at home since there's no or very limited seating space. Trust me you will not regret stopping by to try this authentic Korean food place.
