    Horrible chips

Disappointed! First major thing, the chips. It's the first thing that comes to the table, and it was awful. Chips tasted old, salsa was bland and for some reason warm? None of us touched the basket after the first 2-3 chips. Second, i watched the fajita being plated in front of me, they basically just heated up the iron plate and put cooked ingredients on it (hoping it was at least cooked sometime today). Also tried the chicken enchiladas, both plates were not bad... flavor was there, just not too fresh. The cilantro rice was pretty good, and I like the avocado crème with the enchiladas. Service was alright, and the interior was nice (plenty of seats, lots of nice decorations). I wouldn't say don't try it, but I couldn't help but worry about the food (basically empty restaurant on a Saturday at 6 pm, and somewhat reheated food and old chips being served)

This was my second try ordering from these folks, and sadly, my experience with Caliente has not been so hot. Each time we've picked up a to go order, the restaurant has been empty. Clean! But empty, which may mean folks flock here for lunch or takeout. This trip, we spend $70 on beef fajitas, a beef fajita bowl, queso and tres leches to go. The fajita bowl and beef fajitas were ordered as two separate meals but when they arrived, the containers were not labeled and looked identical. After requesting beans in separate container (as there was no option when ordering to remove them or indicate allergies), we found that the container we assumed to be fajitas separated the refried beans but left black beans in the container meaning bean or bean juice coated every part of the meal. I'm not a big eater, but I breezed through the 2 tortilla included in the fajita meal, which called for 3-4 (but maybe 2 tortillas is standard for a to go fajita meal that feeds 1-2?) Additionally, the fajita meat and veggies looked as if they've never touched a grill. Amidst the chewy texture, and mildly seasoned, there was no familiar char/Smokey grill flavor to be found. Although the fajitas were a hard miss, their queso blanco offered a bit of reprieve. Mild in flavor, it's heavy on the cream. The accompanying chips are delicate and little chunks of onion and jalapeños or green Chile come together to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Easily, this item was the best part of this meal. Stand by, (apart from the fire queso), it seems like this Caliente is still warming up!

    Veracruz Shrimp and cheese enchiladas

Used Yelp to find something to eat during rush hour traffic. Spotted this Caliente spot 5 min away and im happy I did. Granted there was nobody here but that works because service was great. I ordered Cheese enchiladas which I didn't see on the menu but when I asked he happily obliged and it was fabulous. Kinda spicy but still delicious. All around a good spot to stop and grab some tasty Mexican food.

Good service. We sat outside with our dog. Foods were huge portions. Overall not bad but also nothing special

It has literally LITERALLY taken me 1 month to write this review because i was left absolutely SPEECHLESS by how this cheesy-beef- perfect balance of pepper and spice and mmmh mhmmm EVERYTHING NICE left me feeling some type of way! i have gone back to Caliente TWICE in the past 30 days to feast on this magical quesadilla burger, with the queso as an appetizer because...let's be real, cheese is the way to my heart. There aren't enough good things to say about the food here The service is a little bit slow for a place that isn't busy but oooohhh lovies it is so worth the wait No need to even look at the menu. Matter of fact no need to sit inside. Just call in your order and pick it up ASAP because you'll be wanting to eat in the car like a little rat creature with your pants unbuttoned so you can be full send slob after eating this gooey warmth of deliciousness You're welcome.

    Chicken Fajitas

AMAZING food. Service was great. Its the cutest vibe inside and outside. The cilantro rice & queso blanco is to die for. We also got a mimosa pitcher for a great price. 10/10

The food was mediocre, I ordered the fajita nachos and there was absolutely no flavor to them. The service was decent, we sat at the bar so I have no complaints on that end. The best thing we got were the top shelf Don Julio mixed with Grand Marnier margaritas. I would definitely rate those a 10/10. Although if I had a choice to go back, I probably wouldn't unless I were just looking for a great drink.

Caribbean Shrimp Taco - 5/10 The pineapple balanced out the spice on the shrimp well but it was very soggy.

First time visiting this restaurant. Service was good and respectful. Atmosphere was decent but the music was a bit loud for my liking as it made it hard to hear the person across from me. Based on my experience with the food (ratings below), I would pick another restaurant. I had the crawfish enchiladas, cheese quesadillas, and Caribbean shrimp tacos. Crawfish Enchiladas - 2/10 The restaurant used old or spoiled crawfish. There was really a fishy odor and rubbery texture. The rice was nice and other flavors of the enchilada were okay. This was unfortunate as they came highly recommended. Caribbean Shrimp taco - 5/10 Flavorful but soggy. Spice on the shrimp was great and balanced with the pineapple well. Cheese quesadillas - 4/10 The quesadillas were just okay as the flavor was not there. They were freshly made. Free tomato based salsa - 4/10 Salsa seemed old and very watery. I requested other salsas they had and they were much better.

The calamari was a bit over fried but we loved the remoulade sauce it was served with. I enjoyed the crab cake there was plenty of crab meat. The food is always great so no complaints there but my brave review is definitely the service. There were laughs, and background information on the restaurant, some of the chefs, and servers and it was also very interesting. We tried so many menu items. We had like three or four boards and several brunch items. Of course, I got the cucumber honey lemonade and I made my friend try it too. Lol. Delicious as always. 10 out of 10. However, I will say that the new battle of the board is not Great like I remember. They had super basic flavors and the ones they did experiment with different combinations were actually pretty disgusting. Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!
