The food was good and the service was too. The lunch veggies and Fajitas, I chose beef, were good. The downside was they didn't have a lot of flavor and they were chewy, the veggies were plentiful and good. My wife enjoyed her Caldo Xochitil and a la carte ground beef enchilada...we split the enchlada and had a split decision on how good it was....I liked it better than she did. Fun fact: Ninfa's was actually the birthplace of the fajita in Houston! While dining here, I could truly feel the history and authenticity of the establishment. I am a sucker for fajitas- like honestly, they are probably in my top 5 favorite foods. The beef fajitas here are so delicious and tender. When dining in, you can watch the tortillas makers roll the dough and cook the tortillas right in front of you before they get served fresh and hot to your table. The tortillas have a good chew and are buttered perfectly. I really enjoyed my experience here- servers and vibes were really good. They also serve this green and red salsa with chips before your meal that is so addicting to eat. My only gripe may be the steep price tag, but for special occasions, I would be willing to pay the price. read more

Man, these are some pretty rough reviews. I don't get it . . . I was surpised by how good everything was. The cheese enchilada was spot on (and never did time in a microwave!). The crispy taco was better than what you would get in about 90% of the Tex Mex places I've been to in Houston, and the beef fajitas were on point. The flour tortillas were perfect. I would have liked some pico, maybe--I think that when you're in Texas, you have every right to expect at least that. But everything else made up for that. Best Mexican food in Houston! From the fajitas to the tamales to the quesadillas, everything is so tasty and rich in flavor. The tortillas are the best I've ever had, and the green sauce (and even the red sauce) that comes with the chips is amazing. The service is always top notch; you have your chips and drinks right away when sitting down. We often sit at the tables in the bar area to catch sports games on the large TVs. The hostess stand is always so welcoming when we arrive. I can't think of a negative thing to say about this restaurant. I love Ninfa's! They serve green sauce and red sauce with their crispy chips, they have excellent beef, servings are large (I usually get 2 meal out of my order), the atmosphere is great with plenty of seating and the service is terrific! They have a small outdoor section for dining when the weather cooperates and their bar area has a good amount of seating with televisions for viewing games. I recommend their tacos al carbon (beef). The meat is fantastic and needs little or no toppings. The flour tortillas are warm and soft. It's my go to meal every time. I've also had their chicken fajitas. They are great too. I can't forget to mention the thin crunchy chips with the sauces. Always a winner and pairs well with the Ninfa-Rita. I always leave this place happy and full. Well done, Ninfa's. I'll be back. The flavorful, juicy and tender chicken fajitas blew my socks off - will definitely be returning for more. Their rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked and one could tell that there was love put in to making the beans. I'm a real fan of their tortillas as well. Not too thin or too thick like you might find at other establishments. The cheese enchiladas is a simple dish at the core of any Mexican restaurant, and Ninfa's executes every element to perfection. Ooey, gooey melty cheese wrapped in a corn tortilla and smothered with well seasoned chili con carne and cheese. The house Margarita is not too sweet and not too tart, great balance and drinkability. I am a native Austinite and would go to Ninfa's there as a kid. They closed all locations (unfortunately) and when I moved to Houston, I was EXCITED to see them. I've been to the in the downtown area but frequent the one on Memorial quite often. The older woman that's usually near or at the hostess stand is VERY unfriendly. Sage doesn't speak and one time, turned her back and walked away. The food was as if I got it from Taco Cabana last week. I'm done and I was loyal because of memories as a kid but will not be treated like that when you take my money and the food is mediocre...I've been to La Hacienda and their customer service is great and that will be my next place in the area. Will also tell my friends back in Austin to SKIP Ninfa's in Houston...it's rude (maybe racist who knows). read more

Tex-Mex is a hard cuisine to elevate or turn upscale. But Ninfa's does it better than anyone. I'll give the quick overview. Service? Absolutely on point. We had a great waiter who got our requests perfect. Neither of us ran out of tea and the chips were refilled. Our waiter was even thoughtful enough to offer to-go cartons. Food? Overall, excellent, but with some room for improvement. I had the tacos al carbon. The beef and chicken were both grilled to perfection, although the chicken could've benefitted from a touch more seasoning. The tortillas were good as well. The queso that came with my dinner was good, but I've had better. And I definitely wasn't a fan of the rice, which was more like a saffron rice with peas than the more classic Spanish rice. The chips were good, but the salsa's consistency was different than the usual salsa and didn't have much of a kick to it. All in all, if you want grilled Mexican food in a more upscale environment, Ninfa's does the trick. The rest of the Tex-Mex experience could use a bit more fine tuning. read more

Great service. Chips and salsas were good traditional Mexican (not Tex-Mex). Flower tortillas were really good, made fresh (they could use a little butter). Saffron rice would have been awesome, but was under cooked. Tacos al carbon and chicken enchiladas were excellent. Frozen house margarita was weak and too sweet. Picked up their family fajita party pack for a gathering. This had great meat from the quality of meat, how it was cooked and the flavor. The tortillas were stellar and they provide everything you want to have a great meal. Really enjoyed their queso and the chips are that perfect combination of firm enough to hold a big dip yet soft enough to know they were recently fried and fresh. I used to work on the East side of Houston and got very spoiled by eating at Ninfa's on Navigation. This is not Ninfas on Navigation.... Salsa is still great! Not sure how they make that green sauce but I could eat a gallon of it in one sitting. The food otherwise is for the most part run of the mill mex and tex-mex that you'd expect at most similar restaurants around town. The plates are served sloppy with everything running together and sweaty. You won't hate it, but it's just not what it used to be. Service is great and friendly. Parking is ample and prices are fine. We had a graduation party for my daughter in the Private Party room. The room is already nicely decorated so adding a few additional touches to personalize was all we needed to do - easiest decorating task ever! Fajita buffet was served which included all the toppings and was delicious! We received lots of compliments on how good the food was. The room and food were great but the service was the icing on the cake. The service was exceptional!!! Our server (Mario?) reviewed everything with us prior to the party starting and checked in throughout the party to make sure all was going well. He was very friendly and a joy to work with. He and his team were attentive. As guests arrived, they received chips & salsa and their drink order was quickly taken. A friend of mine went on Tuesday for her birthday lunch. The chips and salsa was good. I liked the green one better. We ordered the guacamole and spinach enchiladas. Now the guacamole was very good minus the black olives (what's that about??). The spinach enchiladas was another story. It was a little dry, no salt and a ton of dry spinach. We couldn't figure out if it was canned or frozen, because we knew it wasn't fresh. Even the sauce over the enchiladas didn't add much moisture to the spinach. We will go back for the guacamole and try something else for our meals (perhaps today). They were pretty fast and our server wasn't bad on the eyes at all. read more

I was so excited to try this place based on friends telling me how great it was. My husband and I went out for a date night. We had a terrible experience. Gonzalo was our waiter and he was TERRIBLE. Very rude and dry, his attitude reflected as if he was irritated that we were there. I enjoy eating out and I will never return here. We were in by 8:02 and left by 8:35!!!!! We LOVE the chicken fajitas, their various salsas and especially the queso here! Their food is always consistent and delicious. They have generous portions and they are always flexible with our modification needs (for ex. replacing cheese with guac). We used to order delivery every week but since they outsourced their deliveries (via Uber, etc), we find it too expensive so we just pick up. Alas, dear Ninfa's! I love your other chain of restaurants so much more. Cheap Tex-Mex, straight up. The style is on the greasy-goodness side, dripping with cheese and/or sauce. There's nothing really to suggest fresh, new, or clever. Just solid, no-nonsense, no-frills done simply and "fresh" straight out of the can/jar/plastic bag/freezer. The fajitas are a classic example: the next level up in dining would include marinated meat that's char-grilled, this meat is simply cooked. It's a big hit with local business-folk who work on this part of Memorial and like to get a quick bite. They do a pretty good job with service, getting folks in and out quick (not without some misses). The staff are friendly and attentive, and it's a complete table-service experience. That institution seems to be a little sparse in newer local (Texas?) chains where you have the privilege of reading the menu on the board over the register. Overall it's a reasonable dining experience, but generally I don't come here of my own volition. It beats the cafeteria, though. read more
