I'll start off by saying that I am intrigued enough to come back even if I give my first time rating 3 stars. You walk in and order straight at the counter where they have the menus printed out and there's a huge chalkboard of their most popular items on it. The cashiers were attentive enough but not exactly enthusiastic or attentive when I mentioned it was my first time. The food came out after 8-10 minutes? Not bad. My husband's Enhilada plate came out VERY HOT and super fresh but mine...just looked and tasted like it did not. I had the fajita steak added to my Migas and it was very tough to cut through but also a steak knife would've been nice (I only had a regular dinner/butter knife). It also came out Medium (and Rare in some parts) temperature which I enjoy but it was a little concerning since they didn't ask for my meat temp and I didn't notice if it was written anywhere.. The shredded cheese on my eggs were unnecessary and the eggs were a little bland. All in all I felt like my food was very underwhelming and I had to rush to eat before it got too cold. Although my Migas weren't great, I would still come back to try other things for lunch time.

I don't know why my total came out to be $20.97. The breakfast taco plate was $9.99 plus upgrade of fajita meat additional .50 each. Plus tax is less than $13.somebody explain to me. There was a language barrier so I didn't ask. I also thought she said $12 something till I looked at my receipt after and saw $20. What the heck Anyway, tacos were bland. The eggs needed seasoning. Potato and beans were good Edit: I called back hoping I get somebody that could help. The lady said she changed it to $11.

My husband and I went there and ordered their Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. It is a great price for 2 people, but you get what you pay for. The tortilla soup was very good and our waiter was great! However, the rice is bland, the boracho beans are smoky, and the cheese enchiladas have a beef gravy sauce instead of a traditional red chili sauce. The place looks nice but it is evident from the restrooms that this place never gets any deep cleaning! We might have returned just for the tortilla soup but after seeing the restroom, it made me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. I'm sorry to say that we will not return here and I would not recommend it.

What a cute place! I love their vibrant decor and use of sugar skulls on the cute menu and in the actual restaurant. The space itself has many seating options, including a patio in the back. They also have a semi-separate room with a long table to accommodate larger groups. I thought this was a walk-up and order type place, but to my surprise, it was a sit down, server brings chips, and takes your order type place. I was very happy with this. I'm not always fond of the walk-up and order type places. The service was great! We arrived around 5:15 PM, so it wasn't too crowded yet. The bar is right near the table seating, so it can get a little loud. There was a larger group in the bar area this night, so we had a little bit of a hard time hearing each other at our table. Our server brought us chips and salsa. The chips are a medium thin and the reddish-brown salsa is served warm. Love that! We had a couple cocktails and enjoyed a delicious quesadilla. Our server was very helpful in making our requests for a combination chicken and beef quesadilla. It was the perfect appetizer to split since we weren't terribly hungry. It was not only filling, but very tasty! I usually like beef better than chicken at Mexican restaurants, but their chicken was fantastic! I liked the beef too, but I was very surprised how much I liked the chicken too. Very tender and seasoned well. Drink prices are decent. They make a pretty good Ranch Water. Food prices are good too. Our bill was fairly small because we split our meal. We will definitely return! The flare is fun, the parking is convenient plus plentiful, the restrooms were spotless, the service is great, the food is terrific, and the energy is good. Really enjoyed our time!

Moderno is very good & not badly priced. The Customer service was great. The tacos were delicious & the avocados were fresh. My only gripe is the rice and beans were bland. Add more seasoning to the recipe. Other than that, a taco spot everyone should try. Add more seasoning to the recipe. Other than that, a taco spot everyone should try.

The food is good asked for medium rare for well done, not to much flavor and my fork and spoon had water stains. Other than that it's good. Service is friendly. Place seems a bit crowded tables to close.

Not great. Tortillas are rubbery. Ordered Alhambra and got beef instead of chicken. Beef is like jerky.

Are there any veggie versions of the tacos?

Not exactly sure but I eat a pretty healthy diet and they have accommodated my request. It's not a chain so they can handle ur request.

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Met the ladies here to celebrate, & break bread…read more Thank you Jamila for selecting this original location of the Original Ninfas, to host, (our last supper, before your relocation from Houston to Florida.). A place I grew up in as a little girl in Beaumont but never have I've visit this "original" location. Stepping in to this spot felt like a restaurant in the country of Mexico. I ordered the El Henry. I absolutely loved my dish, only thing I would've chance was the cheese enchilada definitely would've swap for a chicken or beef one, or maybe even a flaunta. I really like the Mexican rice, it had little potatoes and carrots in it. Some of the best Mexican yellow rice I've had. They offer a cinco de mayo drink special. The only thing that seem to make it special was the drinks apparently were limited edition menu items. Nothing was special about the prices. The regular menu drinks were a dollar(s) less. The margarita I ordered first was peach coconut. I didn't taste the coconut at all. I swap for the peach strawberry ($14 or 15) which was great, sweet& strong. One did me just right. You get to select up to two flavors for additional $2 (for both verse each, that's a plus. Not worded on menu). If you select a third flavor an additional $2 would be added ($4 in total) I appreciate separate tickets provided after confirmation and no additional gratuity automatically added, which he got tip equally the same or more. When asked about the "empty" patio that was available, he informed us that the entire deck was reserved. Upon departing I noticed from the parking lot individual tables, of separate parties were occupying only 3 tables. It was 8 of us sitting at 2 tables. Which the table was pushed up against the wall, and one side was inaccessible, which took away spacing. Service was lovely space was really tight. Good thing some of the ladies didn't order full meals. Definitely wouldn't have been able to fit every plate.

Ambiance: upon walking in, it was chaos and sooooo many people standing up and sitting down. Walking around with drinks. I felt like I was in a club. A server made her way to me to take my Togo order. While waiting, I grabbed a drink at the bar and just made the happy hour cut off. Service was great as I was able to get my order and it was a large order. Everything was correct. The house margarita was ok, I wish I had gotten the hibiscus flavor. Order; Crab Tostadas Mixed Fajitas Snapper Mole Enchilada Ninfa 2 Tacos Margarita Mix The only thing I would order again is the crab tostadas and the beef fajitas. The chicken had no flavor at all. The charros beans and rice were not anything special. I was not a fan of either. Overall, we are not planning to order from here again. It just wasn't what Mark Weins made it seem like on his review. Also, whoever the driver was practically could not wait for me to turn around. Sorry, I had to take a pic. Very rude.

Upon walking in the restaurant was clean it was pretty packed for a Wednesday night but the aroma of the food! OMG! Our server was really nice and patient because my friend and I talked for about 30 minutes before we finally ordered our food. He has the beef enchiladas with rice and black beans. He cleaned his plate...literally not a grain of rice in sight! I had the smoked chicken verde enchiladas and WOW! What an amazing dish. I consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur especially being from California. I have always said Tex Mex?.....eeeeyuck! But Candente has changed my tune! I will definitely be back to visit when I return!

Glowing red. Burning. Candente…read more Let me start by saying that I'm not into Mexican food unless it's an auntie or grandma making it at their house. I prefer traditional homemade Mexican food but here we are. (Oh I googled and suggested this place lol) Went in for a team lunch on a Friday. Coworker's birthday lunch and she wanted Mexican. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There is bar seating and patio seating as well. Our waitress was Aisha and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful and patient. And able handle our large group and a few more tables with a smile. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.

Parking can be challenging on weekends, but there is complimentary valet and a few extra spots in a lot across the street. There's interior and exterior seating, with cozy booths and tables. Service is friendly. Chips and salsa: Superica has some of my favorite chips, crispy and thin and perfectly fried. The avocado crema salsa and warm serrano pepper salsas are delicious with a mild kick. The bottled red salsa is fresh and green salsa packs a nice punch. Migas: Scrambled eggs with tortilla chips and cheese, choice of chicken versus chorizo on top, finished with fresh avocado. I really enjoyed this combination and the generous portion for the price. The eggs are well scrambled without being dry, and the pairing with cheese is proportional. The chicken was a touch dry, but some salsa solved that well. I enjoyed stuffing each component into a fresh tortilla and devouring it as a breakfast taco. Refried beans and rice: Really delicious. The refried beans are of the smoother variety without as much chunkiness, which I prefer, and topped with creamy cheese. I could have used a touch more tomato in the rice, but overall enjoyed the texture and flavor. Patatas with salsa roja, topped with egg: I enjoyed the flavors in this dish, but there was sooo much salsa. The potatoes were thus a little soggy, though still cooked well. The over medium egg was cooked nicely and complemented the potatoes with creamy yolk. Bacon: Really generous portion for $7 as a side, and cooked well. Crispy potatoes: I enjoy that these are fingerling potatoes smashed and roasted, but they could be crispier. They seem to be on the blander side on purpose to allow seasoning to taste, and I really like pairing them with the red bottled salsa provided at each table (probably due to their association with ketchup). Hotcakes: The literal star of every brunch, these hotcakes are consistently delicious. They're massive yet somehow cooked perfectly through so that they're fluffy and soft on the inside and just with a slight crunch on the outside. The pairing of the creamy warm (!!!) maple syrup is heavenly. Because of how huge these are, usually one is enough to share between two people, although they also come in stacks of two and three. For reference, we finished 3/4 of three between four healthy and hungry people and it wasn't for lack of trying. Whenever I crave weekend brunch, Superica is always a top option.
