Blue Claw had a great variety of sushi to choose from. My favorite item was definitely the jalapeno yellowtail appetizer, definatly the standout of the night. The lobster rolls were also a favorite at our table. I really liked the interior as well. The restaurant has a cool Japanese inspired design and architecture that gives it a much more interesting atmosphere than your typical sushi restaurant. Service was okay. the restaurant was surprisingly quiet for 7:30 on a Friday night, I felt it could have been a little more attentive. We also had a few extra items brought to the table that we hadn't ordered, although it wasn't a huge issue. Ordering is done by writing the quantity you want next to each menu item with a marker, which was pretty easy and straightforward. Overall, we had a good experience and there were definitely some dishes I enjoyed. However, it's pretty far from where I live, and I personally think there are better all you can eat sushi options closer to me. Very pleasant all you can eat lunch portion. I really enjoyed the variety selections. From soups, salads, sushi, tacos,shrimp fried rice, pink lady sushi, rice taco, crab lobster dip and chip. Avocado salad. All was well. One of the main flaws for me was only certain Sushi was included for the all you can eat. And it's not like you can mix a set. You will have a complete set of one type. I was hoping two to three individuals different sushi rolls. It would've been a bit better if they offer a set of three's or a bit of a variety. Which could allow me to sample more and select a full set. I love that I got some work done and order a shrimp fried rice. My son visiting for summer found this place and wanted to try it out. We both ended up liking the sushi a lot. There was plenty of seating inside. Booths, tables, bar seating etc. we were seated right away. Service was up to standards. We went for lunch so I couldn't try the sashimi but look forward to try another day. There was a vast selection of sushi and rolls , hand rolls, and specialty rolls. A nice selection of appetizers and kitchen appetizers. Being no stranger to all you can eat sushi, I was very excited to try out Blue Claw. Right off the bat, I think what makes blue claw stand out to me is their lobster and crawfish options, which I feel you don't get to see at many AYCE sushi spots. The second most noticeable feature is their thick sashimi slices. The yellowtail and salmon here are also standouts to me in terms of fish. The appetizers are also all yummy, and I think my favorites are the miso soup and tataki options, as well as the yellowtail carpaccio. The handrolls are great, and the lobster roll is also good. My friends also enjoyed the blue claw roll, which has lobster, and the lobster dip, but I wasn't as big of a fan of these options. Out of the various rolls, my favorite was the salmon lover by far. The seared salmon on top adds extra flavor. Surprisingly, even though I typically like eel, I feel like I didn't prefer the eel here. The nigiri and the roll were both decent but just not my favorite. I also want to add that I really enjoy the QR codes that allow you to sort of order at your own pace, which I think is very helpful for larger parties. For dessert, I am a little sad that they don't offer red bean, but the chocolate ice cream here is a good substitute. I typically opt for green tea as an alternative when red bean isn't available, but the green tea ice cream here is a little too mild for my preference. TLDR: Service was terrible and unfortunately, the food wasn't much better. I really wanted to like this place because I love the concept of an all you can eat restaurant where you can order from the entire menu, not just sushi. Unfortunately, things went downhill almost immediately. We were seated right away, but then waited over 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. We finally got our waters, and about 5 minutes later our server took our order. From there, we waited around 30 minutes just for a miso soup, hot and sour soup, and a garden salad. About 10 minutes after that, we received 2 sushi rolls and a beef skewer. Then... nothing. Another 30 minutes went by with no food, no check ins, and no water refills. Eventually, my husband had to get up and ask for a manager. She apologized and said she'd move our order to the front of the line. Honestly, it felt like our order had never been put in. All this while our baby was crying because she was hungry. I eventually had to go in her diaper bag and give her some emergency snacks I keep on hand which I shouldn't have had to do at an ALL YOU CAN EAT restaurant. After reordering with the manager, some of our food finally arrived, but it still wasn't everything we ordered. They also forgot the wasabi and ginger, so my husband had to get up again to find someone. To make matters worse, while eating one of the sushi rolls we'd waited over an hour and a half for, my husband found what appeared to be a piece of fabric or sponge inside the roll. After nearly two hours, we gave up and left, still pretty certain we never got our order. As we were pulling out of the parking lot, we saw our waiter, who had disappeared shortly after taking our order, outside on a phone call. I understand employees need breaks and emergencies happen, but if a server has to step away, management should ensure someone else is covering their tables. Based on our experience, this seemed more like a management issue than an isolated mistake. Let me start off by saying that the service here was excellent! From the moment we entered the staff were attentive and the service was timely and quick. Our table was spacious and clean, and we had privacy which was nice. Now all you can eat sushi is serious business and blue claw knows their stuff. The menu is extensive and I loved the appetizers of edamame, mussels, lobster dip and crab puffs! The sushi and sashimi were fresh, though the cuts were a little too thick at times. The place is nice and clean, has several TV's throughout to watch sports and other events. There's a bar where you can get alcoholic drinks and has plenty of bar, booth adn regular seating. Be sure when you go that you order a good amount of things at one time, it does take time for the food to come out to you when you order it with the waiter. We drove out to Trisa V.'s neck of the woods to celebrate her newly awarded Yelp Elite status at her favorite AYCE sushi joint! Taking up residence in what appears to be a former seafood chain restaurant, Blue Claw offers some unique menu items that you won't see in any other AYCE sushi menus around town. Here are my thoughts on what we tried: Appetizers - The edamame, tatakis, and miso soup are all quite standard, though I want to highlight the availability of mini lobster rolls on the AYCE menu! They're mixed with crab, but slathered in mayo and stuffed in a buttery brioche bun, they go down just as easy. The sushi tacos were an interesting concept with a yummy filling but the fried seaweed shell was a little too stale to bite cleanly through. Hot food - The yaki skewers were done quite nicely and the crab dip was divisive among our group - I would say it's worth the try for the novelty! I was particularly impressed with the mini seafood boil, which included 4 juicy shrimp, a mussel, a slice of corn, and a potato in a savory Cajun butter sauce. I was happy to share this one so that everyone could try it, though I could easily finished it by myself! Rolls - These were the next to arrive at our table - we really enjoyed the namesake Blue Claw roll, the well-balanced Salmon Lover roll, and the well-constructed handrolls. If you're feeling adventurous, order the Crazy Mango roll: stuffed with banana and topped with mango sauce, it leans more toward dessert than dinner and can offer a reprieve from more traditional menu items. Sashimi/nigiri - We all cheered when our plates of sashimi arrived! The cuts here are generous and fresh, and I would recommend ordering small quantities each time to expedite their delivery from the kitchen. The nigiri was alright, but without seared or specialty options, I'd save my stomach for other things instead. Desserts - The mini crème brûlée is definitely the way to go! My personal GOAT (banana tempura) is available as well, as is the ultimate finisher of tempura cheesecake (make sure to save room beforehand if you're planning to order this). As for ice cream, they only had matcha and chocolate flavors when we were there but hopefully they have more choices on the weekend. Since we went on a Tuesday night, only a few other tables were occupied and our servers were very responsive. However, I don't think they were anticipating such a big crowd and ultimately there were some delays in preparing our (admittedly large) sushi/sashimi orders, with our entire first round of nigiri being missed and requiring a reorder. Despite these qualms, I still think Blue Claw is a great option for the neighborhood and it would be my first choice to take friends who prefer cooked seafood/items or want to try dishes beyond the typical raw offerings. I often go during lunch time and the value and quality provided at this establishment is unparalleled. Blue Claw is simple- It is a quick place for nearby business men to go out for their lunch break and return for their 3pm water cooler chat. Sandwiched between Chili's, Chick-fil-a, and Pappadeaux, Blue Claw offers an Asian perspective to your weekday lunch rotation. I was in love with the portions of salmon. Tuna tataki and salmon tataki is the cheat sheet to bypassing their no-sashmi-during-lunch-time rule. The tuna slices are carefully marinated in ponzu sauce topped with jalepenos that are just spicy enough to get you to start ordering actual rolls. My favorite roll is the salmon lover roll. Salmon inside, salmon outside drizzled in an umami filled eel sauce. I will continue to dine here so long that this place continues to function! Hubby surprised us with this new All You Can Eat location. Supposedly, it was an old Red Lobster restaurant. So they kept the aquatic/sailor decor. There are nice pops of blue seating that I thought was a nice touch. We were greeted by our waitress and given an explanation on how to order. You have to scan the QR CODE for your table and select the item & quantity for each order. Be careful not to over indulge, as I was told if there is too much left over, you will be charged extra. This was our first time visiting Blue Claw and honestly the experience was very mixed. The food was hit or miss. The seafood boil was probably the highlight of the meal. The garlic sauce was delicious, and the shrimp, corn, and potatoes were all really good. I also enjoyed the Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, and the beef skewers. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the spring rolls because they were soggy in the middle. The Salmon Lover Roll wasn't for me, and the hibachi fried rice tasted a little off. I couldn't quite figure out what it was, but I wasn't able to finish it. The crawfish in the seafood boil also did not taste very good. They tasted a little dirty or off, and I couldn't quite put my finger on exactly what it was. They weren't inedible, but they definitely had a funky taste that stood out compared to the rest of the seafood boil. What really hurt the experience was the service. Our server, Lily, seemed much more focused on a larger party than on the rest of her tables. She would stop by and ask if we needed anything, but when we requested refills or other items, they often never arrived. We had to wait until she came back around again to ask a second time. In reality, we saw the food runner more often than we saw our actual server. I also found it strange that we were told to place our first order through the QR code, while a table that was seated after us had their first order taken directly on an iPad. Since it was our first visit, I would have appreciated a little more guidance. The most frustrating part happened at the end of the meal. After we paid and left Lily a $16-$17 tip, I asked for one more drink because my refill had never come. She offered to bring our drinks in to-go cups, which we appreciated and were excited about. We waited around 15 minutes, then several more minutes after that, and the drinks never arrived. Eventually we just left. It felt awkward and disappointing, especially after being told they were coming. What made it even more frustrating was that I had originally just wanted a refill while we were still sitting at the table. Instead, we ended up waiting around after paying for drinks that never came. I understand restaurants get busy, and I know how difficult serving can be because I have worked in restaurant management myself. We usually tip well and try to be understanding. That's why this experience was so disappointing. I don't know if our smaller table was just not a priority compared to the larger party, but it definitely felt that way throughout the meal. After leaving a $16-$17 tip and still not receiving basic things we asked for, including the drinks we were promised before leaving, I honestly felt a little taken advantage of. There are some genuinely good menu items here, but the lack of attention and follow-through from our server left a bad impression and made it hard to want to come back. My friends and I came here, highly recommended by another friend, for our monthly AYCE sushi night. This place was definitely one of my more favorite spots for the appetizers and sushi rolls, specifically the Blue Claw roll. Every roll we had was really delicious, cut consistently and had nice presentation. The sashimi had some different cuts than what we were used to and we originally ordered nigiri/sushi but had to replace our order which worked out for us. We used to frequent this place and didn't have an issue before. With the new system of where you have to marker in what you want and wait for the waitress to take it, just doesn't work well. Our waitress was kind but since the people at the bar chit chat with her a lot we sat there for about 20 min until we could get the menu again. If they don't come and check on you then you can't order the next round, so I suggest ordering everything you want the first time. Honestly if you want great service and food Sumo Sushi is down the freeway. They are more attentive there. read more

Stopped in with high hopes, but this visit ended up being a bit of a mixed experience. The lobster dip had great flavor with a nice spicy kick, but the chips were stale which took away from it. The lobster cakes were delicious and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. I also really enjoyed the tempura yams, super tasty, though just a tad oily. The shrimp taco unfortunately wasn't for me. The texture of the shell was an off and made it hard to enjoy. When they say "salad," they really mean it literally...everything comes on a bed of lettuce. The crab salad was shredded imitation crab over lettuce, the mango salad was slices of mango on lettuce (and the mango wasn't ripe), and even the seaweed salad was served on lettuce and had a bit too much vinegar for my taste. The seafood boil actually had really good flavor. We ordered a second round and asked about adding extra mussels and clams, but when it arrived it was all mussels, no clams. The shrimp fried rice had a very unusual flavor, almost like an extra sauce had been added that I wasn't expecting. I also usually love a shaggy dog roll, but their version just didn't quite hit the mark for me. Service was unfortunately another downside. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Friday night, but our server spent more time socializing than checking on tables. At one point she was standing at a nearby table having a full conversation while holding our food. There was also some noticeable tension between staff, including a server openly arguing with coworkers, which felt unprofessional. And to top it all off... paper straws!!!! Blue Claw definitely gave me the blues. We were looking for a happy hour deal in the area and saw some of the reviews mentioning $5 martinis, 50% apps, and $1 oyster Monday which sounded great. We arrived just a few minutes before their happy hour ends at 6pm (as shown in the photos) to find the parking lot completely empty and the inside also completely empty except one customer sitting at the bar. The inside had really creepy vibes too with kind of eerie lighting and the wall of empty (as in drained) lobster tanks. It felt like their last day of business before closing forever. Despite this, we did take a seat at the bar and noticed that there were strangely only four total bar stools for a decent sized bar. Weird. After asking about their happy hour special, they stated that they don't offer specials on food, only drinks, and produced a very small strip of menu that felt like it had been cut out of a larger menu with about 6 cocktail specials including a martini and a few other very sweet drink options. Wow! I was exclusively invited to the soft opening of blue claw. They are Canadian based company that decided to travel here to houston! And this is their first location in america. Aren't we so blessed! Let me just tell you about my evening! Immediately there was a step on repeat that was super cute you have to take photos. But what stole the show was the largest lobster Tower in America. And that thing was absolutely delicious. Every but I was rolling my eyes to the back of my head. It was open bar all night but since I don't drink they did offer three of the mocktails on their menu. And OMG they were chef's kiss! They had the grapefruit Ginger fizz, the lbb blueberry mojito, and the strawberry lemonade. Hello hello hello the ginger fizz had mint come a lime and spicy ginger beer. 10 out of 10. The l will be blueberry mojito was House made with blueberry syrup. 9 out of 10. And the strawberry lemonade was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. 10/10. I feel like they should have used maybe a different oil or a different technique but they were weirdly crispy but flavorless. 4/10 We have some yummy lobster sliders that were buttery and soft and delectable. 9/10 At the end of the meal they offered decadent looking chocolate mousse and everyone was so happy to close out the night on a sweet note. Because I don't like chocolate, I did not indulge, but I saw the smiles of the guests around me. I will most certainly come back, especially since they offered All of Us exclusive coupons! I was driving to work yesterday morning and saw their Soft Opening sign so I told my family about it. We decided to try it for dinner. (This is the old Red Lobster and we did NOT have such a good experience the last time so it was a little "traumatic" to come back to this building. Lol). They checked in on us very often, it wasn't that busy but still, they made sure we were enjoying our dinner. They asked for our opinions on the dishes and it was an extremely pleasant visit. We got a little bit of each thing and did it family style and shared. Going to list everything from our favorite to least favorite. 1. Creme Brulee - one of the best I've had so far. The manager (God, I forgot her name but she was so sweet!) gave the table some complimentary dessert and it was DELICIOUS. The crack from the sugar was perfection. It was firm enough but still smooth and silky. Very rich in flavor but not too sweet. I would come back for this for sure. 2. Lobster & Crab Dip - these top 2 items would be the reason I come back! Only thing I didn't like about this was the bell peppers but I still enjoyed it very much. The table devoured this dish within minutes of it being set down. I am a corn girly so the corn in this dish was "chefs kiss" to me. 3. Blue Claw Roll - Lobster Tempura - enough said - deep fried - yes please! I honestly wasn't expecting coming here to eat sushi but it was good. Nothing bad to say about this dish. 4. Lobster Risotto - the risotto was creamy and cooked just the way I like it, a little more on the al dente side. It was not mushy or soupy. It was flavored well. The only thing I would change about this would be the "parmesan crisp". It was not crispy. It was soggy snd chewy. 5. 1lb of the Lobster, grilled with the East Coast sragood boil sauce on the side. My dad ate the entire lobster himself so I assume it was good. Lol. The sauce was okay. We are used to the Viet Cajun Garlic Butter sauce so this was just ehhh to us. 6. Lobster Chowder - it was creamy but nothing special to it. The biscuit that came with the chowder and the bisque was more on the dry side. It wasn't fluffy so it felt and tasted very dense. To compare, it was more like a Popeye's biscuit not a Church's biscuit. 7. Mussels - it was in a tomato bisque like sauce. It tasted like mussels. Again, nothing special to it. You do have to eat this hot though because once it gets cool, or room temperature, it doesn't taste the same. 8. Lobster Roll - the bun wasn't buttery and toasted enough. The lobster filling itself was abundant but it was too saucy. The sauce was a little on the sweet and tangy side, kind of like a thousand island salad dressing type. The fries were delicious though. Extra crispy as requested. We ate every single fry. 9. Lobster Bisque - I felt like this one was just Lobster in a tomato soup. It wasn't creamy or bisque like for me. 10. Calamari - this was more on the bland side. The batter was not seasoned. It was definitely not deep fried enough. It was still pale and soggy. It needs to be golden brown and more crispy. Lobster rolls are made of slightly toasted buns (similar to Texas Toast garlic breads) that are split partially and filled with a thin layer of chopped lobster salad and romaine. The classic has a creamy and cold filling, which i thought tasted better. The signature version has the warm filling but seems less flavorful. The onion soup is on the warm/ hot side. Eel and tamago nigiri were okay. The vegetable (sushi rice, sliced inari pockets, seaweed salad, sliced avocado) taco (sliced iceberg lettuce on the side) was a good version. The fried nori and rice paper shell was crispy and not oily. The seafood boil (sausage, large shell-on shrimp, mussel and clam, quarter corn, and half potato) was well-seasoned and hot. The cheese wontons (2-pcs with sauce) were hot and crispy. The jalapeño lagoon (2-pcs deep fried halved jalapeños filled with kani salad) was hot and flavorful. The lobster bisque was amazing and the popcorn shrimp were just like mom's! The two different lobster rolls were great! Each had its own unique flavors and the bread was perfectly buttered and toasted! Lex was wonderful! She kept us entertained and informed. Generally good experience. The lobster roll was delicious (but I liked the classic more than the original). Sushi was decent. All the appetizers we had were good. Staff was friendly. Atmosphere was excellent. All you can eat for $30 is a great value. But two things hold it back from greatness. A couple of our dishes were dirty (some crumbs on them). And there is a better option that has the same price, Sushi Masa in Sugar Land. If you're closer to Blue Claw it might be worth it, but if you can get to Sushi Masa I think it's a better value for a similar experience. read more

This place has been up and down for me. First, it was advertised as AYCE but it wasn't until very recently. The first time I went in, I was taking advantage of the $1 oyster Mondays, which was great. Champagne at the door, large gulf oysters that were still fresh, decent cocktail sauce to dress them with. The lobster cakes were crisp and the dressings they came with were well balanced. The east coast boil was kind of half and half for me, since the calamari and mussels were overcooked but the shrimp and crab were done well. The seasoning could use a little more punch, but it wasn't bad at all. The service was great, every person who approached my table was friendly and helpful. The second time I tried to go in, it was closed for renovations. The third time I went in, there was no one at the host stand until the guy sitting at the bar realized no one else was gonna seat us. While sitting down, he asked if I'd been there before and started telling me about the AYCE menu he was putting down. I told him I was really just looking forward to the oyster special and would rather not do AYCE, but he hadn't brought the a la carte menus with him. Then he tells me that they aren't doing the Monday oyster special anymore (the website does NOT reflect this change) and seemed to be reluctant to grab the other menus. I really wasn't all that interested in sushi and was super disappointed about the oysters, so I chose not to dine there that evening and I'm not sure I'll be back. That was a huge draw for me. I'll happily munch on just-okay-to-pretty-good food alongside a good deal on oysters on the half shell, but if they're gonna be the same price as every other seafood place, I'll go to the ones that I know have consistently good dishes otherwise. read more

The ambiance was welcoming and quiet, the servers were very nice and persistent with attending our table, the food variety was very extensive, and the food was fresh and made to order, definitely recommend this plate for date nights or family lunch read more

Went twice during their 20% grand opening. First time was quicker service and larger portions. Tonight they definitely scaled down portions to more tapas size dishes. We were told not to waste food or there is a charge. Lobster rolls looked good but lots of bread and not much meat so beware of pics, although the bread is nicely toasted, you're expected to finish the whole portion. Salmon taco by far is my favorite dish. Would I eat here again at the regular price? No. read more
