    Teriyaki steak and salmon

Umiya was another AYCE sushi experience that started off swinging strong. They have a huge variety of fresh fish and rolls to choose from along with the usual Japanese appetizers and hibachi selection. The rolls were delicious with some creative combinations available. I'm a tuna fan, and they have a bunch of different seared and raw options to choose from, all very fresh tasting. Dessert was also included to nicely round out the meal with some cheesecake and ice cream. I did try some of their hibachi as well, and this was the only thing that let me down. The beef in both the teriyaki steak and the beef fried rice was dry and tough. At the end of the day, I came for the fish and sushi though, which did not disappoint.

Beautiful restaurant and sushi bar with all you can eat lunch made to order for $21 on a Saturday. Service was wonderful with the sweetest server. Will return.

Came here for the first time. Got the AYCE buffet and order a ton of food to make me regret it later when I'm staring at myself in the mirror without my shirt lol. Between my friend and I, we must've consumed a total of 50-60 sushis, 20 sashimis, 24 fried oysters, 5 steaks, 8 mussels, 20 4 scoops of ice cream, tapioca mango dessert, and probably a few more something that I can't remember lol. For $33, food was pretty delicious, but most of the fish was fresh. I enjoyed the Unagi and the salmon. They have a variety of sushis to choose from. Staff are friendly and fast. Food comes out pretty fast after we places it with our waitress. Lots of tables to dine on. There are individual private restrooms, but the one I used was super filthy and needed to be clean. Lots of parking in the area.

Loved this place! I'm always on the hunt for a good all-you-can-eat sushi spot and finally decided to try this one after passing by a few times--def worth it. They've got a ton of rolls to choose from, plus hibachi and desserts, which is a nice bonus. The Kobe beef seared sushi was sooo good. My boyfriend and I tried all the desserts too and everything hit. For about $32, it's a great deal. We're already talking about going back!

I finally had the chance to visit Umiya Sushi located off I10 and Wirt, in the same center as Love's Dumpling House. Some of my friends have been raving about this AYCE (all you can eat) sushi place so I took my family of four and decided to eat as much as humanly possible. We went on a Saturday for a late lunch (arrived at 1 pm). Parking is free and if you don't want the hassle of tight parking, don't try to park right in front and you'll be fine. Walk a bit. Upon entry, we only waited a few minutes and were seated at a table that technically fit 6. Service was pretty good. Unlike a buffet that I'm used to, the server takes your order and then delivers your food. They do this over and over until you're full. Overall I would say the service was good. As for ambiance - the place is quite big and pretty nice, I must say. It's not over the top, but they definitely put in some money to make the restaurant look and feel nice. Now for the food - I thought it was great. Tastier and higher end than a place like Kura, the $20 price for lunch is unbeatable for a Japanese AYCE place, and the variety of offerings was quite impressive. I thought taste overall was excellent and I would definitely come back again, maybe once a month, on a cheat day when I don't mind gaining a few pounds all at once. We tried as much as we could - hot appetizers, rolls, seared sushi, nigiri, soup, and even the desserts. Everything was great! Fish was fresh, hot food came out very hot, and rolls were packed with flavor. Hungry and got $25 in your pocket? Check out Umiya and you will leave very satisfied.

Umiya is one of my favorite AYCE sushi in Houston. Every time I am super hungry or craving a large amount of sushi for a good deal, Umiya is the first place go to. They have a lot of options from the sushi rolls to nigiris to other appetizers. Their seared sushi is fresh and buttery, and if you eat 10 alone, you are almost getting your money's worth! Definitely a must get when going. The yellowtail jalapeno is another favorite of mines and consist of yellowtail Hamachi topped with jalapenos, masago, and soy sauce. They have a variety of rolls to choose from, but I like the Hot Mama Roll. There is a fire sign nest to it, but the roll consists of hot cheetos and is not spicy at all. The Hot Mama Roll has a good mixture of textures with the crispy chips. The inside is spacious, and there is a lot of seating and parking. Service is dependent on how busy the day is with it being a bit slower on the weekends. Umiya is a nice place to visit for AYCE and has been my go-to for AYCE sushi. Make sure to come hungry and definitely try their seared nigiris!

Another Houston AYCE sushi place crossed off our list. Sashimi was a cut into nice thick slices, for our first round they survived it over ice. For the second round it wasn't. Rolls were traditional AYCE rolls, not much stood out in my opinion. Overall would recommend if you wanted AYCE sushi in Houston.

I've been debating all day about how I wanted to write this review. But since I am now on my second round of explosive diarrhea today -- Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. There were two hairs in my Cucumber Salas. (I wish I would've taken a photo!) Something just seemed off. Even though the restaurant itself is spacious and decorated very nicely, I just don't think I would come back here. It's overpriced and the quality was not great.

All I could dream would be a more accurate name for this entire experience! I was hopeful that after the long drive, the food quality and quantity would be sufficient, it was far more than that! Out servers were caring and sat our group at a large table with both chair and booth seating. We were frequently checked in on and never had an empty glass. The menu was extensive and our server explained and answered all our questions. And the sashimi and sushi! What a selection and what flavors and textures! The pink lady roll and the yellowtail sashimi were my personal favorites, but everything was so good. The cuts of fish were fresh and generous. Standouts were the sesame balls, the fried oreos and the red bean ice cream.

I was craving sushi so badly, so we decided to come to Umiya for a night date. I did a lot of research on AYCE sushi around my area, and Umiya really caught my attention because of the beautiful decorations and how good the food looked online. We came around 6 pm and did the dinner option. At that time, the restaurant was not very busy, only a few tables. But around 7 pm, it became a full house. Trust me, come before 6 if you want a table without a long wait. The price was 32.95 per person, and soft drinks are not included. They also have a full drink menu and boba, which is a nice bonus. We ordered a lot that night and left extremely full. Everything we tried was delicious. I also loved how beautifully each plate was decorated. Every dish came out looking so pretty and fancy, it honestly made me feel like I was dining at a high end restaurant, not just an AYCE spot. One thing that really impressed me is that they also have seared sushi. I love that seared flavor, and Umiya gave me the chance to eat a lot of it, which really gave me an omakase style experience. The AYCE menu has many dishes that I have never seen at other sushi restaurants. That really surprised me in a good way. I usually get bored seeing the same options everywhere, but this place was different and impressive. I forgot our waiter name, but he was amazing. Very nice, attentive, and gave us excellent service. Even when the restaurant got really busy, he never made us wait. Every time we finished a round, he was already there to take our next order. When we left, there was a long line outside of people waiting to dine in, which says a lot about how popular this place is. Overall, this is the best AYCE sushi restaurant I have ever been to. It is probably my number one spot right now. Great food, beautiful presentation, and amazing service made the whole experience even better. I definitely recommend coming here, just make sure to make a reservation if you plan to visit on a weekend night because it gets very busy.

Solid spot for all you can eat sushi!! Really enjoyed their speciality rolls and seared sushi! The sushi does have a bit more rice than I would like! Outstanding service! They would alway come right on time for another order when we would finish our last bite.

I went Saturday lunch for the AYCE deal. I really wanted love this place but was pretty disappointed. The sat lunch price deal was great as it was the same as a weekday deal, but the fish wasn't as fresh as the other sushi restaurants. There was a fishy aftertaste to the sushi and the flavors of the sushi roll were pretty overpowering or lacking. The seared sushi was the best as well as the tataki for appetizers. The ambiance was pretty dark inside and interior not as cleanly decorated as I wanted. The indoor ceiling lights were very loud and clashed with the japanese decor. Overall, the waitress and waiters were fast and attentive. But would like the interior and food quality to improve.

AYCE -this is order at your table AYCE. Service was friendly and helpful. The space is colorful. This is a family atmosphere. We ordered from almost all the categories. It's like a tower - tuna avocado and c Tempura: Shrimp Dessert: Fried Banana Red Bean ice cream Matcha ice cream *Sago with Coconut Milk - had bits of mango - nice & refreshing. Kitchen Appetizers: Baked New Zealand Mussels - this one was mayonnaise heavy for me and it was hard to remove the mussel from the shell Fried Calamari Fried Fish Fried Shrimp *Fried Oyster - nice crispy outside *Takoyaki - yummy *Sesame Balls (red bean paste) Sushi or Sashimi: Tuna Sashimi Salmon Sashimi Yellowtail sashimi *White tuna (escolar) - nice pieces and so tender. *Masago - deliciously briney *Eel Sashimi - tender and tasty Seared Sushi: Seared Kobe Beef - I was hoping this would be better the meat was cut with the grain which made it harder to chew. Something simple that should be an easy win. Unfortunately, everything leaned the same direction: either it was heavy, over-sauced, or overly garlicky. It tasted more like dressed-up frozen food than something thoughtfully prepared. And listen...I don't mind indulgent. But there still has to be balance and fresh food. Fresh like it was raw and delivered today, not fresh like fried in the last 15 mins. When everything is coated, covered, and competing, nothing actually stands out. The drinks didn't help either. They leaned hard on alcohol without much flavor behind them--more "this will get you there" than "this tastes good." Nothing was terrible. But nothing made me want another bite, either. And with seafood, that's kind of the whole point. The atmosphere is friendly, great music, and the service was very attentive. Even the presentation wasn't bad. It just wasn't enough. I wandered in not expecting much, but my experience here ended up much better than I thought…read more I went with their August prix fixe and went with their Truffle Deviled Eggs, Crispy Sweet & Sour Shrimp, and Key Lime Tart. The deviled eggs make good comfort food and was satisfying. This version doesn't have much of a kick, but it's very creamy and you can definitely taste the truffle oil. The homemade potato chips also add to the texture and salt between bites. The shrimp dish was fun with a light and crispy batter, well-seasoned and drizzled with sweet chili sauce. The cool ranch surprisingly added to the shrimp and enhanced the chili sauce rather than overwhelming it. The made-in-house fries were far better than expected. I was somewhat expecting dense, oily, boring fries, but these were very crisp and somehow didn't feel too greasy as far as fries goes. Almost seemed like an injustice for it to be served with ketchup as it was too good for it. Lastly, the tart was a great way to end the meal without it being too much. Loved the crust. The tart shell tasted really good and went well with the filling, which had a lighter consistency than pudding. Fruits tasted like they were on season, even though it should be a bit too late for strawberries. I'm also a sucker for meringue. I'll have to come back to see if it wasn't a fluke, but there were a lot of dishes here that looked good. Maybe even swing by for happy hour, we'll see. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the name of the restaurant, but essentially their seafood options are spectacular. And it feels like an exclusive club because the decor and service are both very much high class and special. We tried the coconut shrimp as the appetizer and really liked it. It was lightly fried and the shrimp was cooked to perfection - not under and not over. I would highly recommend this one to start. Loved it. If you're looking for a fair-priced meal, they have lots of salad and sandwich options. I tried the salmon poke bowl and it was so delicious. The fish was extremely fresh, and all the flavors blended together really well. It was like a healthy party in my mouth. It was great decision. You wanna splurge a bit and live large like YOLO? You gotta get the crab cake. Now, how good can a crab cake be? Well, if you're paying close to $50 for one crab cake, you better believe it's gonna be freaking awesome. And alas, it was. Best crab cake I've ever had in my life, no joke. And I've tried a lot of crab cakes in my many decades of dining out. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back many times. Enjoy! Quick note on parking - plenty of parking in a huge lot shared by many businesses such as Kenny and Ziggy's. Only annoying part is several sections of the lot are designated for specific businesses, so just look for the signs and be willing to park a little bit further away towards Taco Deli and Bluestone.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in quite some time. We had an 8:00 PM reservation but weren't seated until around 8:30 PM. While delays happen and I was willing to overlook that, the experience only went downhill from there. We ordered Palomas to kick off our Friday night. The drinks took quite a while to arrive, and when they did, they were noticeably watered down. I politely mentioned it to our server, who quickly took them back and brought replacements, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second round was nearly identical to the first. When I brought it up again, instead of acknowledging the feedback, the server responded by saying it was "just not a sugary drink." That completely missed the point. I wasn't expecting a sweet cocktail--I was pointing out that the drinks tasted diluted and poorly made. What bothered me most wasn't the drinks themselves, but how the feedback was handled. I wasn't looking for free drinks or trying to be difficult. I was simply offering honest feedback, and it felt like my opinion was being dismissed rather than heard. Unfortunately, the food didn't redeem the experience. We ordered several dishes to get a good sense of the menu, and most were overwhelmingly salty. The salt overpowered any other flavors to the point that we couldn't finish some of the dishes. The sushi was the best thing we had, but even that lacked the presentation and quality I would expect at this price point. To be fair, the manager did remove the drinks from our bill as a courtesy, and I appreciate that gesture. However, by that point the damage had already been done. A resolution is only effective when guests feel heard and respected throughout the process. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my opinion and justify my feedback before anyone took it seriously. At the end of the day, a restaurant can be trendy, crowded, and beautifully designed, but none of that matters if the food and service don't deliver. Balboa Surf Club has the atmosphere and location, but in my experience it falls short where it matters most. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it because I had always been curious, but now I know I won't be back and cannot recommend it. If you're looking for a similar concept, I'd recommend Hudson House. The atmosphere is comparable, but the drinks are consistently well-made, the food is much better, and the service has always been far superior.

There was no wait, since we went pretty early. Around happy hour time! I got an Art Car IPA, which was served very cold and refreshing... about as refreshing as IPAs can be. The staff helped us through the menu, and I decided to go with the shrimp and grits, with the warning that it wasn't the traditional shrimp and grits. It came out rather quickly and I thought it was delicious! The grits were nice, creamy, and flavorful, and the shrimp was very tender.

Another great spot for happy hour bites and bevs! Happy hour is Monday-Friday 5-6:30pm with $1.50…read moregulf oysters, $8 cocktails, and $8 select wines. They also have some food specials. My first happy hour visit I tried their Mississippi-style chicken on a stick (good, but I prefer San Antonio's milanesa version dipped in pickled jalapeno juice). But standouts at Josephine's, for me, are the: :: Smoked redfish dip--we sometimes order two because my boyfriend powers through this app. :: Blue Crab Rice Bowl--a lot of fun flavors going on and it's very filling. Make it an entree. :: And of course, their oysters. I'm an oyster happy hour girlie! Check out my Yelp list of oyster happy hours: https://www.yelp.com/collection/ZhuQbFKQfzO2TR6QFYMc0w/Oyster-Happy-Hour :: The beau loves their pea salad; said it's just like his grandma used to make. I don't fully rec the the jerk fish collars, as this dish has a lot of bones and it's hard to eat. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a great cocktail list--they've got frozen margs and frozen sidecar.

Drinks were great from the martini paired caviar to the Barolo and pork chop. Cacio e Pepe and pizza/flat bread were good. Everything was excellent. Bread service was good. Whatever the butter spread(?) was on the board - Wow! Service was on point for a Sunday dinner. Our server - AJ was great, even though slammed with an 8-top, us and a few more 4-tops. We will be back and ask for AJ again.

At your own risk, I guess. Food was overall average- went with seafood options which were well cooked but nothing to write home about. The grouper has too many sweet elements which I was concerned about when ordering- would have liked some savoury bite in there. Also was disappointed they didn't pack up my leftovers (got lost in communication I guess). The crab cake entree- to me the reads appetizer, which is what we did. But honestly one of the best crab cakes I've had. Sturdy breading but so much flavour and balanced well with the veg/salad it sits on. The 7 layer chocolate cake was perfectly balanced dessert as well. Not too sweet and loved the crispy/crunchy bits.
