I've been here a handful of times and the food has always been great and I've never had an issue with the service. 8/28/26: The food was delicious but the service left a lot to be desired. My friend and I went around 7:30pm on Saturday and were excited to try their menu. The interior has a darker atmosphere with light music in the background. We ordered the HRW set and the appetizers came out beautifully presented, we wish there were more chips to go along with the tartar. The wagyu/unagi hot dish was deliciously balanced and so tender, the scallops were cooked well but they were served on a bed of okra so there was no contrasting texture. The wagyu roll was so unique with the fried dough in it, the poseidon roll was fresh with citrus notes. I would totally order any of these dishes again. For the service, I was here on Friday (8/27/26) around 9pm as well and our server was lovely and so attentive to my table. She made sure to describe our dishes to us and was pleasant to interact with and was lighthearted. The server we had on Saturday was probably one of the worst servers I have ever enocuntered. She was a middle aged Asian woman and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her by being there. She did not introduce herself, never asked if we had any questions and would just drop off our food and walk away. She showed no hospitality whatsoever and if it was my first visit there, I would absolutely not go back just based on service. She was cold, unfriendly, and in a mood. I know some people have bad days but this felt off... if I were to encounter that same server again, I would ask to immediately change. read more

my favorite parts about this place is the ambiance and the dessert. my server was also very attentive. the decor is very modern and nice. and the dessert was nicely presented and tasted great. the maki roll selection wasn't my favorite compared to other restaurants. 3 of them had asparagus in it and i don't like that...and then more than one of the other ones had cream cheese in it and i'm lactose intolerant and can't have cheese. the ones i got were okay though they kind of made me feel a bit sick? main meal wise not my best experience at a sushi restaurant. read more

Hmm... I would consider this place having "bougie" sushi. Perhaps I'm relating that term with price to food portion. The prices are a bit higher than your typical "premium" sushi places. However, I've paid similar prices for better quality fish. Let's highlight the positives: Great ambiance Decent happy hour menu Good cocktails Service I like their sushi rolls; the rice to fish portion is perfect compared to most sushi places that make gigantic rolls with tons of rice. Personal preference. It's an ideal place for happy hour or a cute date night. I usually sit at the bar when I come here. Attentive service and consistent water refills. The location is across from Memorial City Mall, in the Memorial Hermann medical area. Parking can be tricky. If you can't find parking, there's the garage and valet. Visited for a Friday happy hour as I was craving sushi and stumbled upon this place. The restaurant was fairly quiet for a 6pm experience. I sat at the bar and was greeted warmly. The bartender was attentive and timely. I ordered the lychee martini, garlic edamame, creamy rock shrimp and rin roll. The lychee martini was really good and well balanced. I am normally not a fan of edamame but these were AMAZING, I ate them all! The rock shrimp was just okay, the batter was a bit soggy and not as crunchy as I expected. The rin roll included shrimp tempura and cream cheese and was okay, it tasted a bit bland. I would try this place again to order some other options. read more

Service was lousy and uncoordinated. Two servers for one table is a recipe for disaster. Half the table's orders were forgotten or completely ignored. Halfway through service they made us reorder again. The Suzuki and Poseidon rolls were soaked in vinegar sauce, had no mouthfeel. The wagyu and unagi were decent but extremely oily, and only came in 4 pieces. Definitely left more to be desired. One last note, they overcharged our bill. I visited kuu a few weeks ago to try their tasting menu. Upon arrival we were seated promptly and our service was okay- the waiter seemed to have too many tables but that's not their fault. The food was very slow to come out and when it did the quality was not what I expected. I described the yellowtail as inedible when the waiter asked how everything was. If you typically eat at high quality sushi places- roka, uchi, himari, etc then don't even bother coming here you will be very disappointed. Came here with my husband last night after not coming for a while. We usually come on Fridays when they have the live violinist, but even without it we still had a great time. We ordered the $55 four-course meal and added an extra sushi roll on the side, starting with the Hamacchio Sashimi and Tuna Tartare with Taro Chips, which were both fresh and flavorful. For sushi, we tried the Truffle Suzuki, Poseidon, and June Maki rolls, all beautifully presented and delicious. For mains, we had the Sous Vide Wagyu with fig jam, which was perfectly cooked with a sweet-savory balance, and the Miso seared Sea Bass with cauliflower purée, which was tasty though I wish it had been served a bit warmer. For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Brownie Bites with milk ice cream and the Bread Pudding, both were pretty good. This might be the only worth while sushi location near the memorial area. There's free parking in the adjacent garage and large bar for happy hours. Interior is pretty muted, it's a dark environment and meant to be a bit more intimate of a setting. Our waitresses was friendly, attempted to be funny and personable, which is basically above and beyond this day and age. Menu is extensive, hot and cold prepared dishes are available, lots or nigiri and sashimi options to pick from, and about a dozen rolls round out a selection that should please most. The rolls had some flavor combinations that were new to me which made the experience stand out for sure, mostly ending towards sweeter notes. Spicy chopped scallop was yummy, tuna belly is always a winner, and foie gras also was nice to see on the menu. A fun item we ordered was the hot rock beef which adds some theatrically to your meal. Had an amazing time for my first time. To start I came in a Sunday which was perfect. They have a Sunday deal, 2 for 1 nigiri, which was absolutely perfect because that's what I was in the mood for.
