The sushi is great!! They make everything fresh when you order it so your order does take a little while but I'm okay with the wait. It is sort of pricey but they do have an all you can eat option BUT you will be charged for what you do not finish. The servers are sort of all over the place, I think the communication within the facility could be better which would result in better service. A remarkably quiet yet beautiful place tucked in the back of a Dairy Ashford/Memorial intersection, Sushi Jin shows you that great sushi is just around the corner. Walking in, you'll see the a fantastic facility with hints of Japan and some modern touches, like screens in the sushi bar area that was showing the Texans game. I got the Chirashi set and while my wife got the sashimi combo. Both of them had well cut pieces of fish and a variety of different textures and flavors. The salmon was definitely buttery and smooth on the taste palette. Both meals ran for around $25-$30 each. I still remember the days where a sushi lunch would run around $10-$15 (4 years ago) now its consistently doubled that. Its still pretty high in price in book, but these days just about everything is more expensive. Quality is there, I wish we had a little more quantity. My time there was very straight forward with ordering and check out. This is definitely my top sushi joint for the area we live in. read more

A hidden gem restaurant in Energy Corridor that serves authentic Japanese food! The agedashi tofu was crispy on the outside and silky on the inside. The dashi sauce was so good... it seasoned the tofu perfectly. The sushi rolls didn't look that impressive, but I was blown away by their flavor. Both the scallop and tuna were fresh, and I loved the seasonings that they used for both rolls. The servers were incredibly sweet as well. This place is so underrated but the interior is so modern and feels like you stepped right into Japan. There is plenty of seating and there's little to no wait depending on when you go. The servers check in often and the menu has a variety of Japanese dishes. The food tasted super authentic but I kind of got tired of my food near the end so I had to pack it to go. Another fantastic meal! Authentic and true to taste, Sushi Jin is our family go-to Japanese restaurant. It is one of the very few Japanese restaurants owned by Japanese. That makes such a huge difference! The sushi bar master is also Japanese. Can't beat the quality and technique of a trained artisan from Japan. I love the quiet ambiance. I can actually enjoy having a conversation without loud music, which I cannot avoid at most restaurants nowadays. The sushi is delightful and awesome, as others have written. But if you feel like eating something besides sushi, our favorites are the curry rice, tempura, cold noodles and nabeyaki udon. The tempura here is perfect! Very crisp and light. Had several types of sushi. The yellow tail sashimi is crazy good. All of my orders were raw and not fried so I cannot comment on anything fried. All sushi, sashimi and steak is delicious. Sushi Jin was amazing. I went here on a whelm because for lunch one day I was craving sushi. Sushi Jin is close to my work and where I live. I had no idea it was hidden away in this shopping center. When I entered it was a nice looking restaurant and the hostess was very nice. Since I was alone she asked me if I wanted to sit at the sushi bar. Sure, why not? The server was quick to come and ask me what I wanted to drink and if I'd like an appetizer. I went with ice tea and dumplings. My appetizer came out quick, hot and fresh. For my lunch I ordered sushi, and for the life of me I cannot remember what roll I ordered. But it was very very good. The dumplings were probably some of the best I've ever had. They were so tender and cooked to perfection. A nice touch is, before the meal they give you a hot towel to wash your hands, then after you complete your meal, they give you another one. The towels have a very pleasant aroma. It's a fine touch to the meal. If you're ever in the area and craving sushi, you may want to give this hidden gem a try. A lot of places you go around town are "Americanized" sushi. If you are done with the same thing at every other sushi "joint", time to try Sushi Jin. Do they have some of the Americanized sushi rolls, sure? Do they also have authentic Japanese food and dining experience. The menu and wine list alone can be daunting, but if you are not willing to scour the menu and pick out some deliciousness, that is a bit like saying "I want an authentic German beer cold." It just makes no sense. The Shrimp Gyoza were nothing like the stuff you buy at H-Mart and attempt, usually rather poorly, to cook at home often in a sake fueled rage you cannot get it right. Sorry. TMI. I am 95% sure they had made these in house. And no mince here. There was literally a full skrimp inside each dumpling. Utterly delicious. The Hamachi Carpaccio was delectable. Fresh. Thin. Tasty. Utterly wonderful. I wish I could have watched the chef shave the pieces into their lovely design. But this can be a bit expensive. But totally worth it. Next we move on to the Chopped Scallop Roll. I am so glad I started eating fresh scallops again just because I got to experience this roll. Delicious. On to the BBQ Roll. Admittedly...I screwed this one up. Yes. I like steak. Why not combine it with Sushi?!?! Well. I ordered the sauce on the side. Get the sauce on the roll. The wife wasn't too keen on this one, but I was. Nom nom nom. Finally we ordered several other rolls, all of which were pretty good to the best of my recollection. The drinking trousers were slipping a little higher with each sake and beer round to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. I remember leaving full, satiated, and completely happy. Please come here. Support a local business. The owner, wait staff, and kitchen staff are nothing short of top notch. How then do I summarize Sushi Jin? It is definitely not a "joint". That would be insulting. They have added dividers that not only keep you safe but also add to their decor. Now I don't know if this something that they always do, but when we were seated we were provided hot towels to clean our hands and every person working was wearing masks. Onto the food. We ordered the shrimp gyoza, miso salmon, spicy salmon roll, TNT roll, and tempura udon. All the food was pretty good but I really enjoyed the TNT roll and I loved the broth in the tempura udon dish! The restaurant offers regular table seating and they have a few private rooms for traditional Japanese dining. I have had two parties in these rooms and really had a great experience. My last time was a birthday party for my wife and two children. They all have birthdays in May so I reserved a room and told the server "don't stop until we hit $250" and enjoyed having the restaurant pick out dishes and beverages for the family to try. This restaurant gives me the authentic Japan feel when I walk in. Just like any Japanese restaurant, they give you a warm towel to clean your hands. I orders uni sushi, salmon skin hand rolls (off menu item), Canada rolls. The portion is great comparing to its price. However, I feel like the fish wasn't fresh that day. It's not like they use old fish but it doesn't taste as fresh as other places I have been to. I will still come back to support them if I run errands near the spot. Amazing food! So good, that we came back 3 days in a row! And brought along friends! Appetizers: The fish nachos were excellent but I wish you would get more than just three chips! The presentation is beautiful though. The onigiri was also delicious, we got salmon and bonito flake rice balls but I wish they would add furikake or more seasoning to the rice, however you can add flavor with the pickled sides. The boar sausage is delicious and pairs perfectly with the spicy mustard that comes with it The croquettes were perfect and have thinly sliced beef in it! Tons of flavor! The calamari and shrimp kakiage were fried to perfection and both hold tons of flavor The yakitori with teriyaki is perfection! Tons of flavors and they are two large skewers. Next time I'll try the salt one! Dishes: The katsu curry is a MUST. The portion is large though good enough to share between two people. The katsu son is mouth watering. If you love eggs, onion and fried chicken over rice, please get this!!! The salmon oyako was different but excellent! It's grilled salmon over a bowl of rice with ikura and they give you hot Dashi (it's like a fishy broth) to pour over it. It was so good!!! The red dragon roll tastes so fresh and delicious And the beef gyudon is a must if you love angus beef over rice!
