I wish this spot was in my city! I love visiting Sumo Sushi when I go to Houston. The food is really refreshing and the sushi is always fresh testing. Most of the rolls are great as well. The ambiance is not bad however the floor is always so slippery. My most recent visit had absolutely wonderful service and our main server really cared about our food allergy concerns.

Absolutely great experience! We were on the hunt for the best sushi AYCE and I must say we have a top contender. The sushi is very fresh and comes out quickly. Portion sizes are just right to he able to get stuffed comfortably. Service was great as well! Most definitely without a doubt coming back.

Two visits in, and I still feel I may need another to fully explore all that Sumo has to offer. Why Sumo? A frequent flyer on 290, I'll find any excuse to have an impromptu adventure- the bright blue sign beaming from the freeway called for such an occasion. So, as a first time explorer, I decided to dine in. I ordered the Starburst cocktail drink, and grabbed an Alaska roll. This roll was the main character, and paired perfectly with my og crab Rangoon. I finished my meal with an unforgettable Passion fruit marg. This baby was definitely on the sweeter side so the tahin was as a nice touch to balanced everything out, The robot server addition to server service was certainly welcome, and with that, I was sold! Based on this trip, I was eager to return...so I did! My second trip was far less spontaneous- post workout takeout, and the experience may be partially on me in that I ordered in the evening for a 9:30pm pickup time...30 minutes before closing. I guess I was called to the Alaska roll because I reordered it alongside some crab Rangoon. I also added in some miso soup and a honeydew green tea. When reviewed the packaging looked flawless, but once opened there were a few concerns. No sweet and sour was provided with the crab Rangoon. Chopsticks were not included, and the Alaskan Roll felt like a distant cousin to the roll purchased on my first trip. Additionally, they impose an online ordering fee, even if you're ordering directly from their website. Again, 30 minutes before close, I wasn't expecting absolute perfection. So I'll use this as an excuse to return- third times a charm right? I saw one attached "sumo karaoke" out of the corner of my eye, so karaoke with the girls and ayce sushi it is .

I was tired and lazy to cook dinner, and of course my husband treated me out with sushi, which is my favorite. I picked this spot because I saw they have beautiful indoor decorations and also a robot that brings food to your table. Right when you walk in, you can feel the modern Japanese vibe. It looks really nice inside. They also have a lot of tables, so even if it is during busy hours, you probably can still get a seat pretty quick. I came on Monday around 4 PM, and at first there were only a few people, but later it started getting busy. The sushi here is fresh and delicious. The fish is fatty and sweet, which is exactly how I like it. I saw they had short ribs on the menu, and of course I had to try them. They were good but a bit too chewy, so it took a while to eat. The stir-fried vegetables were tasty with that nice seared flavor from the wok. The seafood soup really surprised me because they give a lot -- not just small pieces like some other places. The stir-fried noodles were also delicious. I liked that they added shiratake mushrooms, which I have never seen before in a noodle dish, and it tasted amazing. They have a big menu, and I wanted to try everything, but I couldn't. I also noticed they have boba and a large drink menu, which is nice if you want something fun to go with your meal. The service here was great. I saw some people say it was bad, but that is not true at all. Our server was really nice and kept checking on us, and the food came out super fast. If you love sushi, you can't skip this spot. The food is fresh, the service is good, and the place has a fun vibe. Plus, they have all-you-can-eat sushi -- so why not!

You can't beat the lunch price for their AYCE! Lots of options and lots to choose from. The servers are very prompt and friendly and the food comes out pretty quick for an AYCE place. I think the sushi was okay though. Their fried stuff was the star of the day! It all came out piping hot!

Visited this spot for our anniversary and I must say we will be back again. Place was a bit busy and the service was ok due to the amount of people dining that day, what stood out was the sushi of course. Nicely plated and fresh. I must say the place was clean and felt cozy even with the amount of people that were there. 100% recommend!

A friend took me for my birthday for lunch, it was my first time. It was really cool when the robot came around with our food, it only came by one time, and the waiters and waitresses brought the food the next couple times. If you get that all you can eat, the waitress will come and take your order, she'll continue coming back to you and order more as you're eating. It was wonderful. My friend did all the ordering because I'm not familiar with sushi but everything we ate was delicious. We had no complaints. The waitress was amazing. We will go back and I will take my family. We also got fried Oreos and ice cream with Cool Whip. It was amazing!

Sumo Sushi is one of my go-to AYCE sushi spots. They offer a good amount of cooked items for those who don't like sushi. Customer service is pretty good, and food comes out in a timely manner. Some items are better than others. I find the fish quality decent, except for my last visit when it seemed like it got slightly worst. I tend to order way too much and have to suffer in case they charge me for wasting food, but try to limit it to 2 rolls, a few cooked items, a soup, a mix of nigiri/sashimi and can't skip on the dessert. They have fried twinkies, oreos and bananas plus ice cream on the menu. It's good for groups b/c you get a set food price. I think you can order a la carte, but everyone in your party will also need to. Overall, it's worth going to if you live within a reasonable drive away.

My go-to AYCE sushi spot when I'm in the area! The salmon is so buttery and melts on your tongue and the service is so quick once you order! The playlist that they have always has amazing songs so it's always a joy to sit back and eat

I'm embarrassed because I order soooo much food and forgot to take pictures. The food was THAT DANG GOOD! I took beginning pictures and then forgot about my phone and everything else!!!!! I guess this means I need to come back again (especially during happy hour time!).

Our son picked this place to celebrate his 35th birthday. We were so glad he did. I have to admit I wasn't expecting great things from an all you can eat sushi place, but this establishment exceeded all of our expectations. The restaurant is very clean and our waiter was amazing. Usually when you order at a sushi place you wait forever for your food to come out. Not here! There were at-least 5 on the sushi line making rolls and we could see in the back where they had a grill and fryer with lots of people in the back. Portion sizes were very adequate and they had everything from appetizers to hibachi style food to cooked and raw sushi. Every single thing we got was amazing. I enjoyed my sushi so much because it wasn't cut into ginormous bites. I was able to take a bite and breath while chewing ha ha We definitely recommend this place and for 20$ for lunch we will definitely be back.

This was a very good AYCE sushi restaurant. You order at your own pace, and then things come out as they are ready and prepared. Lots of different options for everyone, even non-sushi eaters. I tried crab salad, gyoza, eel sashimi, and 4 different rolls. Each roll was very fresh and not loaded with rice. The fish to rice ratio was even and perfect. Our waiter was nice and checked on us often to see if we wanted to put more food in. They also have the robot that brings out some of your food items. Definitely a great spot for sushi lovers!

By far one of our favorite spots to go to dinner at. It's nice that there is a place with all the picky eaters that I live with , can find something to eat . We always go for dinner and we do the " all you can eat". Service has always been good . We usually go out 5 so it isn't too crazy. Everyone is nice and it is always clean . As everything , it does end up being a bit pricey .But we always leave full and happy . It is one of my favorite places to get my sushi fix on . Definitely recommend. Sorry next time I will try and get more pictures before they make it my belly. I also like how they have a good selection of desserts on their all you can eat .

First time visit to this small and excellent restaurant…read more Located at the corner of Fry Road and Mound Road it has a restaurant seating area of about 50 and a large bar area for 20 more. The menu is short but includes most of the classics. I had the Seafood Tacos and my wife had the Chicken Mole Enchilada. The tacos were surrounded by a flour tortilla (corn is also available) with fish that can be grilled or steamed. Packed with flavor from the onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and more I enjoyed every last bite. The plate included rice, beans, and sliced red onion. Delicious My wife loved her selection as well. The serving was big enough to take home what was not consumed allowing her an extra day to enjoy the mole. We also ordered a side of guacamole which was served as a huge rounded scoop on a plank. Don't get me started on the chips we used to eat every last bit of the guacamole. When we told our waiter, Jose, how much we liked the chips he gave us a bag to take home! I had some today and they were still crunchy with a hint of salt. Now to drinks: my wife had the house Pinot Grigio and I the house margarita which I ordered frozen with no salt. The margarita had a clear lime note but did not suffer from it. All in all we agreed that Carmelita's deserves a return visit next time Mexican food is our choice.
