Mango sticky rice
Anokhy D.

We stopped in for drinks and dessert, and Koi delivered. We were seated immediately on a weeknight, our server brought our drinks out pretty quickly after we ordered, and the dessert took a reasonable time to come out considering it was freshly made. I ordered and would re order the Clarified NY sour, yuzu mojito, and mango sticky rice.

Came to Koi on Sunday evening to meet a friend for happy hour. They have a small lot out front and parking was seamless. During busier times, I can see having to park on the street. Inside, it was quiet but I loved the ambiance and booths located interiorly inside the restaurant! Great place to catch up with a friend or have an intimate dinner. This was my first time dining at Koi and I was impressed by their options for happy hour. I ordered a few nigiri options, handrolls, and a jot option. Everything was fresh and delicious! For drinks, I did the espresso martini and then a carajillo--those were great as well. Our server was Valerie and she was very attentive. She provided verbal and a cheat sheet on how to eat the handrolls! I will definitely be returning for their sushi.

A great modern sushi spot right in Midtown! I came during a weekend afternoon, and it was not too busy. Perfect time to try new dishes. They have a lunch special you can't beat! Started off the meal with a very flavorful miso soup and refreshing salad. My personal favorites were the salmon and tuna nigiri. So fresh! The scallop hand roll was a very tasty addition too. Overall, I highly recommend this spot. Food was great, and service was top notch. I can't wait to give them another try in the future!

Wow I really wanted to like Koi cause I've heard good things and it keeps showing up when I search for best sushi in Houston! We came on a Saturday morning for lunch and it was pretty empty. Service was good, we were the only guests. The menu looked good and so did the photos online - so we ordered a bunch of things! Agadashi Tofu - as expected. I enjoy it. Ikageso - also as expected. Enjoyed it as well. Chawanmushi - probably one of the best things we had here compared to the rest of our whole meal. It was flavorful and served hot. Contained a whole shrimp, Yum! Now that's where the good things ended.. we order led a variety of handrolls. They came with the plastic wrap so your nori doesn't get soft and you can eat at your own leisure. Cool.. but the fish was just alright. Underwhelming.. didn't taste fresh.. and we ordered some premium handrolls and it was subpar. The Waygu was chewy and greasy.. Waygu is suppose to melt in your mouth.. the foie gras was the same. So disappointed. The uni pasta was the least favorite of the day.. no uni flavor.. there was at best 2 pieces on top. The truffle didn't add to the dish and didn't really taste much like truffle at all.. and the pasta tasted strongly of butter and grease. Ack! I expected uni pasta to be refreshing.. tasting like fresh, sweet, umami flavored uni. Still can't find that perfect dish here in Houston - guess I have to go back to Italy for that. Overall, ambiance was relaxed and modern, with the wine chiller in the back. Restaurant was fairly small. Good for a date night. A few parking spots out front, otherwise it's street parking. I wasn't a fan of the food, I think Houston has better sushi options and unfortunately I probably won't make it back here.

Really good handrolls but their hamachi nigiri was incredible. So much so we ordered it twice. Also loved the regular sushi rolls. Would definitely come back and try more menu items! Ambiance is a lil upscale and moody. Service was fast. Prices reflect how fresh and good quality everything is.

Aburi salmon and I honestly forgot the second course! Both were delicious!

My second time dining at Koi, and it didn't disappoint. Very cordial and attentive staff members, excellent sushi options, and a cozy atmosphere! Great for singles, couples, and groups.

Amazing experience, definitely recommend the enoki butter, it was incredible. The service was outstanding, and since we went on a Wednesday, there was no line at all. The ambiance was perfect, relaxed but still lively. Will absolutely be back!

The privacy in the architecture is what I appreciate about this spot, so aesthetically pleasing

The food is some of the best tasting fish in the area - totally try the Brussels Sprouts & Clarified Margarita & the Koi Klub! I'd say.. the presentation is really it, the ambiance is so great- they play the best tunes honestly, good lil track. & the service is great, small team but always thoughtful and communicative.

I was happy to see this is a higher end sister restaurant to Zen Izakaya. Lovely moody space, attentive staff We tried a variety of dishes and everything was fresh and pretty solid. The chawanmushi is a stand out, along with the Treasures of the deep. Toro and amaebi tartare leaned too sweet and definitely needed the chips for texture contrast. Parking is minimal (typical Montrose)

The ambiance and the service is very nice! The server is very attentive and the food is great. The drinks were good - reasonably priced. Everything came in a nice timely manner. If you're in the area you should definitely try! It was my first time and didn't disappoint.

First time trying out Koi. Awesome atmosphere, dim lights, super intimate, would be great for date night. We started with the Hama Chili appitiser.. wow, so good. We also ordered the El Diablo roll which was delicious as well. Looking forward to enjoying dinner their again. This is our new go to sushi spot!

Espresso martini lychee martini

Came here for happy hour with my old bestie from highschool and it was delicious! The blue fin tuna was like butter, the tuna tacos were delicious, the salmon avocado row was yum, I also go a lychee martini and my bill was $40 not bad for house sushi prices! I'd come back!

First, the vibe. It is warm, stylish, and very Montrose in the best way. It feels elevated but still relaxed enough to just sit, talk, and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We came during happy hour and it was such a great deal. I ordered the Sweet Like Peach Tree, which was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with the peach and ginger. My husband got the Frozen Paloma and it was just as good, super smooth with the right citrus bite. We also shared the churros and they were honestly a must order. Warm, crispy, and paired with Nutella and caramel. What really made the experience stand out though was our bartender, Manny. He was incredibly welcoming from the moment we sat down, had such a great personality, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that kind of service is hard to find. He also told us about their upcoming two year anniversary party on May 3rd with rotating live DJs, which sounds like it will be such a fun time. We will definitely be back. Between the drinks, the atmosphere, and the service, this place really gets it right.

Considering the recent shutter of other places (#2) within the hospitality umbrella, it's not too big of a surprise that Wooster's would also be in the crosshairs. The space was always a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, which combined with its dedicated parking lot made this an easy drinking outlet for all kinds of occasions. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it. For libations, the drinks were well priced, well made, and always potent. I appreciated the aesthetics, as well as the bartenders who made them. The only part that wasn't exciting was the limited food menu, which did its part as munchies for the drink heavy crowd, but was mediocre otherwise. The space is already undergoing the new facelift of a separate concept, one of which I hope will do the area justice, just as much as Wooster's did. ____________ (#1) The Kirby Group. (#2) R.I.P. I thought that the catch 22 ( mocktail) would be too sweet or vinegar forward but it was tangy and light. I asked for something tropical and not too sweet. It was pretty good but not as complex as the catch 22. My husband liked the jaded merchant better than the dew drop. He also was sipping far too much of my mocktail which speaks volumes about how good it was. Love the moody vibes, drinks, and service. I've only visited three times but should make it one of the places we come to more often.

You are drawn, the way one is drawn to a place that promises honesty with a wink. It wears the posture of a dive but carries itself with intention, a little bohem, a little defiant, and entirely comfortable in its own skin. The bar hums with craft. Cocktails arrive balanced and deliberate, built by hands that understand restraint as much as flair. Nothing shouts. Nothing apologizes. Each glass feels considered, as though the bartender paused just long enough to ask what kind of night you were hoping to have, then answered without speaking. The staff moves easily, quick with wit and generous with attention, treating regulars and first-timers as if both had already earned their place. The decor tells its own quiet rebellion. Mismatched, layered, worn just enough to feel lived in, it carries the sense that stories have been told here and will be told again. And then there are the bathrooms, unisex and unashamed, their walls papered with vintage Playboy centerfolds that celebrate the female form not as spectacle but as art. Tasteful, sexy, unapologetic. A reminder that admiration can exist without crudeness, that beauty does not need permission to be acknowledged. The Two Headed Dog is less a bar than a posture toward the world. It resists neat categories. Not quite dive, not quite cocktail lounge, not quite anything else that could be reduced to a label. It is a place for those who appreciate craft without pretension, sensuality without excess, and atmosphere without artifice. It looks like the drink that I ordered is also no longer on the menu. The bar prides itself on having a rotating meal changing menu so I think that's a lot of fun when it comes to trying new drinks and new combinations and it truly shows the artistry of the bartender. There was the option of both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was more of a dimmer, elegant and darker tone. I can see it being pretty classic if you were to go at night time. The bar set up was really beautiful and they had different 2 to 4 seating wooden tables. Overall, the inside would probably only fit around 20 people. I was very sad because we couldn't sit outside. The day before it had rained so every outdoor seating was wet. But I was told that they had a beautiful seating outside with a garden and a pool. Service was good. The bartender came out of the bar to take orders, give menus and give you the check. I will say that it got really busy at the end and it took a while to get our check. There's only one or two bartenders working at one time so if there's multiple people with different drinks that are ordered, it will take a little bit longer. For a fancy hotel, you expect better. Maybe sitting at the bar is better than sitting at some seats as we did. Ambiance (4/5): The Colombe d'Or is a beautiful hotel and Bar No. 3 reflects that. It's an elegant spot to grab a drink, although small. Food (N/A): While there are expensive items on the menu, I had dinner earlier that night so I was on a liquid diet. I enjoyed my adult beverage but felt like it was a bit overpriced. Hitting up hotel bars isn't a common occurrence in Houston unless you're a traveler.
