$35.95 for Dinner AYCE Sushi. Overall everything was fine, nothing really stood out to me honestly. - Mango Salmon: Out of the raw appetizers we had, this one was my favorite. - Sashimi: Half of our orders were served on ice and then the other half wasn't. Slice thickness has slight variability, but overall I would say it leans a little bit more towards the thicker side. However overall size, slightly on the smaller side for some places. - Rolls: They were fine, I didn't feel like there was a big difference in the rolls. Out of the ones we ordered, I liked Monster and Orange Dragon the most. (I do have a slight preference for salmon over other fish, soooo do with what you want with that info) - Hand Rolls: Fish was mainly top loaded so I felt like when I was eating it, my last 1-2 bites was basically all rice, but the one I had nice thick pieces of salmon which I appreciated They had tempura vanilla ice cream which I haven't seen at other places so that was cool. I didn't try it because I was too full. They also had a vending machine that sold pokémon cards right at the entrance of the restaurant. They also had one of those little delivery robot thingys that would come and deliver some of your food, that was kinda cute.

The variety was great they have a bunch of different entrees and even ramen. I can't believe they even have seared salmon, shrimp, and beef. It's limited to 5 pieces per person. I got the salmon and it was delightful. I don't feel like it needed all the sauce on it but the Smokey flavor from being seared on the fatty salmon melted in my mouth 5/5. Their rolls were pretty thick inside. The service was fair they're short staffed. The lady I had gave good recommendations. I really enjoyed the skinny girl and Astro roll. The Astro roll had like salmon on top of it and the texture on top was like crispy. It was a bit drenched too much in the sweet chili sauce. I give that one 4/5 stars. The skinny roll had a nice flavor to it. It had a little spice. 4/5. The tiger eye was pretty standard but the roll was a little big 2/5. Angel roll 3/5. The Mexican sunrise was different it came with only 5 rolls and decent 3/5. The hamachi chili was my other favorite the flavors really brightened it and had some spice with the jalapeño on top 5/5. The pepper tuna tataki was ok 3/5 I liked how the texture was. The mango salmon was drenched in like soy sauce I was not a fan and the mango was just weird with all that soy sauce 1/5.

Came for the 20% off promo for all you can eat lunch. Lots of parking in front and some behind the building. Loved the interior decor! We ordered a few rounds and food always came out pretty quickly. For AYCE, each order of sushi comes in 1 piece and rolls come in 4 pieces. Would definitely recommend getting rolls/hand rolls over sushi for a better fish to rice ratio! Standouts were: - Beef hibachi: unexpectedly super good!!! We ordered this 3 times. - Eel and avocado hand roll: large portions of eel and avocado, big fan. - Skinny girl, tokyo rolls. Pretty generous fish:rice ratio. I would come for the dinner AYCE over lunch; the lunch didn't include sashimi and seared sushi options. Overall the AYCE is a bit pricey for the quality but that is just my opinion!

Solid ayce option inside the loop. Amazing sashimi and seared sushi options. The sashimi cut is a bit smaller but I didn't really mind as it prevented over ordering. I like that they have a spicy sashimi option where they place the chopped sashimi of choice over a slice of cucumber. It was refreshing. Seared salmon and beef sushi were also perfect. Really nice charred flavor on both. One thing this place does really well is their beef. I never have high expectations for beef at an ayce sushi place and they tend to be very tough. The beef yakitori here is to die for. Extremely soft and buttery. The beef for our seared beef nigiri and beef ramen was also pretty good. Highly recommend the yakitori though. Ramen was average. Too much sesame oil. But plenty of toppings (fish cake, egg, kani, mushroom, bamboo, and your choice of protein). Good if you want something warm. The only items that were disappointing are the rolls. They come only in half rolls which I don't really mind. However, unless you get the really basic rolls, their other specialty rolls are not great. Sauces are too much and too sweet, shrimp tempura thick and cold, rice a bit mushy. I'm especially not a fan of the spicy garlic sauce and sweet chili sauce that tastes exactly like egg roll sauce that they put over two of the rolls. Overall, none of the rolls really worked for me, which is kind of a bummer, but they still have great sashimi and nigiri options.

Pretty solid AYCE sushi! They have a parking lot, but not a lot of spots. Their options are what you would normally find at an AYCE sushi place. Everything tasted delicious! The service is great! Our server was very helpful and attentive. Definitely worth going. (Coconut shrimp was bomb)

Machi Sushi offers a huge wide range of items for Sushi & Japanese food lovers. They do not skim out on portion size and provide great tasting profile to the table. The services are very kind with providing help on ordering and brings out the food fairly quick. One of the best AYCE sushi in The Heights area with modern luxury ambiance providing a great friendly experience. Will definitely be back!

I went on a Friday night so dinner service was understandably slow and busy leading to our plates to be given sporadically either all at once or in between long waits. To best give them a chance at performance, consider visiting during lunch or earlier in the evening. Food quality left plenty to be desired. The sashimi quality especially did not reflect the starting dinner price point of $36 a person. Cuts were small and had a noticeable low quality taste. The fried appetizers, sushi rolls, and hand rolls were decent enough, but the fish quality really left a bad taste in our mouths, figuratively and literally. Overall, this restaurant is a good looking place to eat and sit in but doesn't excel at much more. For a newer AYCE sushi spot they may need to step it up to compare to the several that have done the same.

Food was fresh and delicious. Our waiter was friendly. Cocktails were strong! Going back today.

I WOULD SAY 3.5 STARS. The sashimi tasted fresh, good quality, I loved the amount of miso in the miso soup. I think everything was good except for the rolls. The texture on the rolls were off bc the rice was pretty mushy and like squished together. The seaweed on the hand rolls were soggy by the time they arrived to our table. I think I would go back for the sashimi and the nigiri, but it was a little far for me, and there was nothing particularly special to make me drive the distance for it. Service was pretty fast, but there weren't that many people there.

Stopped for a late lunch on a Thursday. Promptly greeted and seated. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Ordered off the AYCE lunch menu, specifically nigiri pieces. They were excellent w just the right amount of rice. We will be back for sure.

So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

We did hang out in their standing room area for a little bit but were able to order drinks and snag a table pretty quickly. When I tell you this is the friendliest service I've ever had at a bar or restaurant, I mean it! All different members of the staff were checking in with us to make sure we were having a good time and enjoying everything. We tried out three of their drinks: enamorada, uno amargo, and their classic frozen mezcal margarita. I say this as someone who is stupid about cocktails, but I think if you're a fan of old fashioneds you'll be a fan of the uno amargo - it'll put some hair on your chest! I loved the frothiness that the egg white brings to the enamorada but I think the frozen margarita was our winner. Imagine your favorite frozen marg but better - the mezcal brings an earthier flavor to a cocktail that us Texans all know and love. Finally for food we had the pato tinga memela, gulf crab tostadas, and carnitas flautas. I genuinely loved them all so much, every protein was so juicy bursting with flavor, which makes sense considering everything is made to order. If I had to pick a favorite I would struggle (I'm not kidding, it was all that good), but I think the crab tostadas won us over with their freshness. We had such a great first visit to bar buena and I can see this quickly becoming a cozy date or after dinner drink spot!

Clarkwood really does know what they're doing with these espresso martinis! I loved the added touch of the burnt marshmallow on mine, and the coffee seemed pretty good quality too. The second time I visited I also enjoyed their spicy watermelon margarita. Also amazing. It tasted a little bit like a spicy jolly rancher? SO good! They also let us know that if we posted and tagged them on our instagram, that we could receive a free round of shots. So, of course, me and my two friends posted to get some shots too. We were able to try the Mexican candy shot, the raspberry lemon drop shot, and the mini matcha martini shot. Honestly all were really good, but my favorite in order were the 1) raspberry lemon drop shot, 2) Mexican candy shot, then 3) the matcha martini shot. The matcha martini was good but as it's creamier, I think having it as an actual martini than a shot is more appropriate. Still, it's a great way to try a new drink and just sip on it rather than taking it as a shot. Also - the venue is so elegant and charming and such a cute spot for a date night. The only difference was that they were dressed more formally, as they had come directly from our gala, while we had changed into business casual attire. I approached the bouncer to clarify the misunderstanding, and he admitted that the reason we were denied entry was because one of my classmates was wearing a sleeveless top and had a visible tattoo. While I appreciate his candor in that moment, it would have been far more respectful had he been transparent from the beginning. Unfortunately, the inconsistency, lack of honesty, and discriminatory treatment we experienced speak volumes about the establishment's values.

It's a very quaint, intimate space. As soon as we sat down, they brought out complimentary pretzels, which was a nice touch. My friend ordered a highball, which she thought was super strong. The drink I originally wanted was sold out, so I ended up ordering the "Shizuka Ame" (Silent Rain) instead -- honestly, it was a blessing in disguise because I absolutely loved it. First of all, the drink is gorgeous to look at, but more importantly, it tastes incredible. The foam rose on top was sweet and creamy and paired perfectly with the cocktail itself. I ended up having two because it was that good, and I genuinely still think about that drink. It definitely leans sweeter, which is exactly my preference. We walked in without a reservation around 9:30pm and the place, while small, only appeared to be at about half capacity. We were turned away and told that they were "booked on reservations" until 11:30pm. This was slightly confusing but we still wanted to keep the option open, so we went over to Doko across the way and enjoyed drinks and sushi. We were able to talk to GM Alejandra about getting into Bar Doko and she made a point to take care of us at Doko first, during which I made an OpenTable reservation for Bar Doko later that night. Alejandra then kindly walked us back over to Bar Doko to make sure we got seated. Excellent handling by her. As soon as we were seated, we were given warm towels and bar snacks - a great way to start the experience. For drinks, both us got the Enso Requiem - The Circle, Completed. Both of us really liked it! On the boozier side but I do like me some Japanese whiskey, so the Suntory was perfect in this. For our next round of drinks, we got the Aki Fall highball. I have never really been a highball person, but this one changed my perspective. It was made with cherry bitters and jasmine wine, which were both unique for this type of drink. I could drink these all day, especially on a hot afternoon, as it was very refreshing. I will definitely give highballs another go next time I see them on a drink menu. Despite eating tons at dinner and then at Bar Doko before, we still wanted to try the food here, so we got the A5 Wagyu Toast and the Tuna Tostada. Both were small bites - each one came out as two individual pieces that were a bite's worth each. The A5 wagyu was super tender and full of flavor and the toast balanced out the moistness of the meat. The tuna was also very tasty and the tostada had a similar effect of soaking up the wetness from the fish while providing a nice crunch. It was topped with kimchi which gave it a nice Due to the trouble earlier, the bartender ended up making our second round of drinks on the house. With that said, the bill was still a bit pricey given that the drinks start out at $18+ and the food is in the same price range. We had a disappointing-experience-turned-good here at Bar Doko and I'd be glad to give them another chance. The bartender and food runner were both very friendly and made sure we were taken care of.
