Loved the sign outside! Hidden, comfortable, space to dine with friends, that's the vibe. Small parking lot. Walk in and sit at bar. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Food was prepped quickly but not rushed, so you had time to enjoy each dish. Everything we ate was delicious, I could have spent lots eating more but it is quite pricey so we had to save some items for next time. My only complaint was the seaweed that rolls were wrapped in, were a bit extra salty, only reason I held back 1 star.

I was very excited to try this place, and this did not disappoint. I got a couple hand rolls and crudo and they were sooo good! Quality is good. One slight downside is that although the service is fast, I noticed some of the hand rolls weren't wrapped well (loose or either holes poked), and they unfortunately missed one of the hand rolls that we ordered but we were able to reorder. I do prefer this place over the spring branch/long point location because I do feel like the fish is more fresh here. The ambiance and vibe are like the other locations.

Bet your bottom dollar, I'm proud to say I'm a regular at this location as well as the OG location in the Heights! You get consistently good food and great service. I've never had any issues with service, and the staff are all quick to accommodate. I was especially excited that they opened a location closer to where I work and live. Heights and Montrose are a little more of a trek than I'd like, but I'm always willing to drive anywhere for delicious food! My all-time favorite is the spicy tuna roll and the hamachi sashimi. Until they built in Spring branch, I was more of an evening patron, but quickly realized this is also a great lunch spot! It's quick and the menu is straight forward. Great place to grab lunch or enjoy after work with some friends! The crispy shallots in their rolls are everything!!!! You get a mouth-watering crispy bite in each bite. So flavorful and tasty! If you want just an appetizer fill of hamachi - this is your place! It's SO fresh and you keep wanting to order it over and over again - the best compliiment you can give to a restaurant is going back to re-order the same dish for it's same great taste and consistency.

My boyfriend and I had a dinner reservation and were immediately seated upon checking in. I recommend making a reservation ahead of time because the seats filled up fast while we were there. The restaurant is small and cozy. I loved the cute rubber duckies displayed throughout the restaurant. We ordered the three hand roll set, masutoro carpaccio, bluefin otoro sashimi, and spicy hotate hand roll. All of the hand rolls were very flavorful and well seasoned. I especially liked the hamachi and spicy tuna from the set. The ocean trout belly in the carpaccio was firm yet tender, and the overall dish was very refreshing and tart. The sashimi was like butter and had a melt-in-your-mouth texture. At the end of our meal, we were surprised with two strawberry macarons. For drinks, we ordered the Kubota Junmai Daiginjo. It had a smooth, clean finish. They had a good selection of music, but it was a bit loud, which made it difficult to hear the staff. I also wish they had provided hand towels or wipes since we were eating with our hands. Overall, we had a delicious meal at Handies Douzo and loved the quick, friendly service. We will definitely be back!

We have been going to Handies Douzo for so long- since they opened their first location in the heights! Long before everyone discovered it last year haha- y'all are all late It's our favorite hand roll spot in town. So happy they opened this location in Spring Branch that's not too far from our place. Service was fast and efficient, and the food was amazing per usual. Ambiance is pretty casual and chill. Bar seating, chill music playing and just vibes. Love it for a casual girls night or date night spot! I do think Handies is a bit over priced. We end up spending so much here when we come. Always delicious but my wallet does hurt :( anyways if you haven't been before definitely check them out! You won't regret it.

I like how this place rolls. Intimate dining area with fun duckies on the wall and table. Friendly staff and quick service. Everything made to order. From the 4 Hand Roll Set all were delicious but my favorite was the Spicy Tuna. It was creamy, savory, and slightly sweet flavor profile with a subtle kick of heat from the spicy mayo.

まじうま Bestie suggested for our monthly girl's date and it did not disappoint. She's never been wrong with picking the most delicious places. We had a 1:15 pm reservation on a Sunday. It's bar style seating so you can see them making the hand rolls etc. The restaurant location is relatively new. Aesthetically, very nice and tons of little duckies everywhere. Very clean, organized and airy atmosphere. There are purse holders underneath the bar for purses, bags. We ordered a variety of things. Started off with 3 hand roll set (bestie) and 2 a la carte hand rolls - spicy tuna, holy shitake for me. Mine were delicious. I'm not much into hand rolls because I feel the ratio of seaweed to rice to filling is off and most of the time, I'm eating seaweed and rice. This was different. The ratio was perfect. Both rolls were delicious. We shared a few items: sashimi - bluefin chutoro, hamachi crudo - kanpachi carpaccio - masutoro carpaccio and we each had their special item - kanpachi hand rolls BF chutoro (5/5) - fresh, tender and melted in my mouth Hamachi (4/5) - rich, buttery, very smooth as well Kanpachi crudo (5/5) - tangy, tender, with a hint of spice Masutoro carpaccio (5/5) - wow, we actually ordered something else but for this and we did not complain - accidental delicious find - everything just went well together and it tasted so savory Kanpachi hand roll (5/5) - this was everything in my mouth that I needed - I had different components from the buttery fish to the rice and the crunch - glad we didn't play it safe Everything was so fresh and delicious. And not overdone. The balance of ingredients is what made it so special. I thought about this experience for a few days after. The staff is super friendly and helpful with suggestions. And made the experience that much better. Def a must try! (I will be back)

I've been a loyal Handies costumer for years now and frequent the Montrose location. I was ecstatic to find out that they were opening a location in Spring Branch since it's much closer to where I live. The location is also great surrounded by other restaurants in the area. There's even ample parking which I feel like is a concern for many people going out to eat in Houston. This location keeps true to the counter-only style seating. All of the servers and chefs were welcoming and efficient that it was already running like a well-oiled machine despite only being their soft opening. I ordered the three hand roll set (mosu, hamachi, and spicy tuna) but also ordered the kani and holy shiitake hand rolls. The quality of their hand rolls are great and they put just the right amount of rice so that I don't get full quickly. It's still my favorite spot to get hand rolls in Houston. Needless to say I'll be back here more often!

Great experience! It moves faster than you think. Sma restaurant. Very cute. Great date spot. A great amount of time between each roll for conversation. The handrolls come in at a nice place to enjoy the meal and overall experience. Rolls were great. Lots of flavor.

I was super excited to try out the newly opened Handies location. I really appreciated that this one has its own parking lot, which makes things much more convenient. For food, I ordered the three Handroll set and two Crudos. You can never go wrong with the Masu, Hamachi, and Spicy Tuna Handrolls. They were all fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Between the Maguro and Masu Crudo, I would recommend the Maguro. The Masu had a slightly fishy taste, and the cut was thicker than expected, making it a bit chewy. The service was slower than at other locations, but that's understandable since it is a new spot. Still, it's something worth improving because we ended up waiting around ten minutes for each roll. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely be back!

Super duper excited that a Handies has opened in Spring Branch!!! This location looks like they have 20+ seats. Taylor was superrrr nice and friendly and knowledgeable. Go to order is the 5 handroll set that typically comes with Salmon, NegiToro, Real Crab, Spicy Tuna and Avocado. I also like to add an extra Hamachi Handroll or Scallops Handroll. Highly recommend ending with a Bluefin Tuna Sashimi (Chutoro). Melt in YO moufff. Also ask for a side of Chili Garlic to elevate each handroll. Parking - Back of the restaurant and shared with another restaurant/bar. Music is bumping too!

I'm a fan of Handies and I love Handies. I've been to the heights locations multiple times and the montrose location once. This location would be my least favorite out of all three. It's still amazing and if you're near the area it's a great spot. But I still like the heights location best. I feel like the flavors pop out more over there and parking theee even though not great is much easier to park than the spring branch location. The food is still amazing and I would give it alll a 4/5 fish is fresh and ingredients are vibrant and inviting.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST Out of all the sushi places, Handies has got to be the most consistent and the most bang for your buck. I ate never been disappointed when I come here. I am always satisfied and still crave for more as soon as I leave. I usually go to the Heights location on White Oak but since this location opened up right down the street from me, I am in trouble! I will end up coming here at least once a week. This is the ONLY place that has gotten the spicy ponzu sauce right. I tried their chili crunch for the first time but it wasn't for me. It was a little on the sweet side. I usually get the 4 set or 5 set and at least 2 crudos. Their crudos are light and refreshing with little burst of freshness from rhe chili, cucumbers, and microgreens, depending on which crudo you get. You can't go wrong with any of them. Their seaweed for the handrolls are the perfect amount of crunch to chew. I may sound bias but I have tried many other places and they just can't compare. I don't know what they are doing or how they are doing it but this will always be my go-to. * it's time for me to go back!

I came for lunch on a Saturday and it was super busy so the service was a bit slow. It took a while for our water and for our server to come and take our order. I ordered the Lunch Special Nigiri Sushi and Noodle Set and got 6 pieces of salmon nigiri with udon noodle soup. The salmon nigiri was fresh and buttery and so delicious! The serving size of the udon was a lot bigger than I anticipated so I feel like I got my money's worth. I definitely recommend coming for the lunch specials since they're good value.

After being seated, I informed the waiter that I would place a to-go order instead. About 20 minutes later, our food was ready. At that point, our daughter woke up, so we hoped to continue dining in as originally planned. I politely asked the waiter if we could finish our meal there. We didn't expect him to continue serving us--we simply wanted to sit and eat the food we had ordered. I had already tipped him on the to-go order. His response was blunt and shocking: "No, you have to leave. The table was given to someone else for a 7:30 reservation." There was no attempt to find a solution or offer an alternative--just a direct order to leave. This was a Thursday night, the restaurant was not busy, and there were outdoor tables and other seating available. We felt incredibly insulted by the attitude. When we spoke to the manager, he simply repeated that the table was reserved and backed up the waiter, without suggesting another table or even asking us to wait for the next available one, until we brought up the point that he could have asked if we have an option to wait for the next table?? Then the manager went ok do you want to have another table just because we asked. What stood out most wasn't the reservation issue, but the complete lack of hospitality, flexibility, or basic courtesy. This experience spoke volumes about the customer service here, and unfortunately, it's the reason we won't be returning.

They let us in early so we didn't have to stand out in the cold. The restaurant is small and quiet, with the sushi bar in the middle, where it's easy to see everything is made. We opted for the sashimi special, the takoyaki, the 4 season roll, and the gyu suji. The sashimi special was delicious, great cuts, nice and tender. The 4 season roll was also great, with good cuts of fish, not too fishy. The takoyaki was perfectly crispy with a good filling and just the right amount of octopus. We accidentally let the gyu suji sit out too long so it got cold and gelatinous, but they were super nice about reheating it for us. It ended up not being for me, beef tendon is just a bit too cartilaginous for me. Overall, a great experience! Will definitely need to be back!

Inside were tables with grills spread between 4 people of seating. There were both booths and tables. Everything was wooden and Japanese aesthetic inspired. You can control the grill flame with the knob next to your table, and it's completely self-serve they give you a couple tongs but otherwise you're all good to go. We ordered the meat lovers platter for 2 and it was more than enough food for 2 people. It came with rice, miso soup, a chicken, short rib, beef, edamame and a salad. This was a solid deal for 2 ($72 per person and $36 each). For two this price is reasonable, and more than enough food. Not included in this price, but offered at the restaurant are various options of soju, Sapporo beer and lychee cocktails. However, my only issue was that the other half of our party wanted to do AYCE. The AYCE starts at $45 and then goes up to $80. You have 90 minutes to eat this and they put up a wall between you and your party. For the cuts and meat, i doubt you'll get your money's worth unless you're willing to eat a lot,. This issue too is that the structure of the restaurant doesn't have a few hoods like other barbecue places. So it gets very hot inside as well as the smell of barbecue gets all over you. The parking situation is fine and there's probably around 50 people worth of seating inside.
