Great addition to Route 9. I was craving Korean food after temporarily moving back to NY and couldn't find anywhere near by. Lo and behold, KorPort opened and it's not disappointing in the slightest. I'm someone who has lived on the west coast for a good chunk of time so I'm used to top tier Asian food. I'm happy there's a satisfying, fairly priced local Korean joint now. In town for a couple weeks and needed my rice and kimchi fix. Was able to surprisingly find Korpot in town. Family run business and the cashier and server were friendly, as was the owner. Restaurant got full on a Sunday around 6pm. I ordered the fried chicken, the stir fried pork belly and the stone bibimbap. The chicken was good, but could've been crispier. The stir fried pork belly was good and the stone bibimbap was good as well. The purple rice was slightly dry but glad they serve it. Does it stack up to other Korean restaurants in major metropolitan cities? Sort of. Is it the best in the area by a long shot? Definitely! 10/10 would go again if I'm in the poughkeepsie area. read more

My husband and I were very happy to finally get a chance to stop into this establishment to try their authentic Korean cuisine. It is definitely slim pickings when it comes to finding a restaurant that offers Korean flavors in the local area but we were both quite pleased with KorPot. There are limited food items and limited business hours (Friday through Sunday) but what they have works well. In comparison to other restaurants that have a million items on their menu, their quality doesn't compare. In regards to KorPot, they have a limited selection of dishes but they seem to have been well thought out and perfected. Every item we ordered was fresh and the spice levels were on pointe. My husband was a huge fan of their Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) dish. I forgot the name of the actual dish but it had the tteokbokki, dumplings, fried seaweed rollup filled with vermicelli noodles, and a battered hard boiled egg. We shared that as an appetizer because it had a nice variety of items in it. Both my husband enjoyed our own dolsot bimimbap. I absolutely love these! In my opinion its like a Korean version of a cobb salad but with hot crispy rice, marinated beef, and gochujang paste (spicy) in a hot stone pot. You put in the desired amount of the gochujang paste and mix all of the ingredients around. Because its served in a seriously hot stone pot (BE CAREFUL NOT TO BURN YOURSELF), the food stays super hot all throughout the duration of your meal and the rice gets crispy. I loved the display of different fresh ingredients before I mixed it. It was esthetically pleasing as well as a huge wave of deliciousness. I would love to visit this restaurant again soon. I recommend going as early as you can as it was quite packed on the Friday lunchtime we went. In addition, the staff was friendly and attentive. You are seated, given menus, but then you have to go up to the counter area to put your order in. The prices were not exactly cheap but its priced accordingly for that type of cuisine. KorPot is the first "real" Korean food to come to this area (ie, not "fusion," not bar food) and it's outstanding. High quality dishes (Soondubu Jigae in particular a standout) that would compete with any place in Manhattan K-Town. If you want the true recipes (spiced accordingly) you've come to the right place. We had been desperate for this since moving up here and will be regulars now. Takeout only right now for obvious reasons-- very diligently packed, food stayed hot on our 30 min drive back to New Paltz. Hope to dine in someday. We were blown away by the quality, quantity and service we received from Kor Pot last night. I had the Bulgogi, my SO had the Jayuk Bokkeum (spicy pork). We agreed both were delicious! My Bulgogi was piping hot (so clearly freshly cooked), tender, and flavorful, I can't think of a better Bulgogi I've had. The spicy pork was not too spicy (just the right amount), and also hot temperature, and perfectly cooked. Our meals came with a small serving of pumpkin soup, a salad with tasty dressing and 'add your own' accompaniments (like KimChi!) purple rice (very tasty) and beautifully presented radish and shishito peppers. Portions are generous (we couldn't finish & look forward to lunch today!) The service was friendly & efficient. Everything (take out), came well presented in a 'bento box' style packaging along with cold and hot food in separate bags (thoughtful!) Kor Pot is only offering take out by phone order right now, so once online ordering/ delivery is launched, they will be slammed - such good food & good value! Amazing food, very reasonable price! My wife and I decided to stop in on a whim on Sunday evening while driving by. At the time (Feb 2021) they were offering takeout only and were so busy with orders that they did politely explain they'd have to ask the chef if he/she could accommodate an extra ticket. We got lucky and the chef agreed! We got the seafood pancake and the fried chicken appetizers, and a spicy pork stir fry entree which comes with purple rice (nice and neutral like regular rice, don't be scared), a salad, and a side of pumpkin soup. The soup is so warm and nourishing, we'd order a whole bowl if they let us! The pancake was very tasty and the dipping sauce it comes with was great. The chicken was also very yummy, though I think it's getting it to go probably lowered the crunch factor by the time we got home to eat. I've no doubt it'd be awesome for a dine-in appetizer though! The pork entree was INCREDIBLE! Like, we couldn't get over how much flavor was packed into it. It's definitely spicy (and we're Indian and Latin spiceheads saying that) but if you're relatively used to hot food it's nothing you can't handle. Yum! Decided to stop into this place today on a whim and we were very pleased with our experience! They are open for takeout only right now, but we went in to order and the place looked super clean and modern, and nicely decorated. The person who took and prepared our order was very nice and welcoming. We got two bibimbap, which was delicious and came with some additional sides - everything was tasty and really fresh. This was also probably the most nicely packaged takeout we've gotten through the whole Covid pandemic. We also got some delicious tea- one ginseng and one honey ginger. Bring your own Doggie Bag! Literally! This is the first restaurant that I have ever been to that CHARGES YOU FOR A CONTAINER FOR LEFTOVERS! Really??? It is only 25 cents, but come on, it's the principle here! That should be part of the cost of doing business! Do they add 25 cents onto prices for take out orders too??? The food is good. For service, you have to get up and go to the counter to order, and you have to get up and go to the counter to pay. That is mildly annoying. The atmosphere is OK, but nothing special. It's just disappointing how many places try to nickel and dime you to death... just figure out what prices you need to charge to make a profit, and charge them! I'm so happy that KorPot exists! The food is fantastic and everyone who works there seems super nice. So far I've only tried KorPot's bulgogi and jeyuk bokkeum, but both were so delicious that I'm counting down the days until I can try the next thing off their menu. Even the purple rice that comes with the entrees was prepared perfectly. The only minor thing that could've been better is that I wish they had large take-out containers with compartments for each entree and all of its sides (like a take-out Bento box container). We ordered three dishes and it was slightly confusing with 12 little plastic containers on the table. All in all, a VERY minor complaint, though :-) read more

Amazing Korean food! I'm Korean and lived in Manhattan for a long time so I'm so glad there's a new Korean option to eat around here! I only tried the bibimbap but I honestly have to say the food was so fresh and specially curated that I felt like I was eating food from one of those modern/upscale Korean places in the city. The bibimbap came with pumpkin soup and some sort of fried pepper (maybe shishito) that was still crispy even though I got take out. My colleagues got the jeyuk dupbap and dakgalbi dupbap and were raving about how delicious it was. I will definitely be going back to try probably the whole menu. read more

I just got takeout here for the first time & it did not disappoint. I used to live in the city & the Korean food here is just as good, amazing flavors & very authentic. I got the bulgogi & it was delicious! Loved the purple rice & kimchi especially, just wish there was a bit more of them! My husband said the food would be considered very good in a Korean enclave so he was rather surprised to find a restaurant like Korpot in Poughkepsie. He especially liked the healthy purple rice as this is not the typical accompaniment for bibimbap and it costs more. All the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked very well executed and tasty. Unfortunately I was not able to eat anything except the pumpkin porridge since their dishes are not gluten free. It was a sad day for me :-( So if the chef sees my post, I'm hoping he will take up the challenge and make 1 dish on his menu gluten free since a talented chef as he/she clearly is will want everyone to enjoy and eat their food. read more

If people give it a chance they will love it. I would give a 4.5 star because price is a bit high, but it seems every restaurant seems to be in the 10-20$ range these days. Decided to try this for take-out as it looked good for when I was picking up for GrubHub. It was good. However, as the next entrees state that it comes with the pumpkin soup, the container for it was a small sauce cup that I found a little odd. If a dish includes soup I don't know; maybe it's me but I would expect something a little bigger or don't include it. My husband and I came here for the first time ever and we were blown away! Even starting with the drinks, I'm a huge tea drinker and from the get-go I loved their tea selection (I highly recommend the hot Honey Plum). My husband got the Rice Punch and I would drink 5 of those easily! Okay and then the appetizers, we ordered entirely too much food for two people but we wanted to try everything and got carried away but I'm so glad that we have leftovers for tomorrow! My husband also has a dairy allergy which makes it hard to go out to eat sometimes but our waitress was super quick to tell us what he could and couldn't eat which was very helpful and impressive! (Most restaurants won't even count butter and then we're stuck in a bad situation, but we had no worries here!) Also the food came out quickly and efficiently, but you could tell it was made with love because everything was just so comforting even though it was all new to us!
