Wow! Let's just start with the fact when we ordered tea they brought out a teapot with loose tea instead of a cup with a bag! Haven't seen that except in Chinatown NYC! I ordered the Pan Fried Veggie, Lamb with onion and Beef with mushrooms. All very tasty. The dumplings were tender hot and delicious. The counter/server person was friendly and polite. House dumplings is reliable and delivering delicious, simple, straightforward food that you know has been handcrafted. Forget about the ambience, which is updated a bit since Covid but not the reason for dining here. I can't speak to the service because this was takeout. I can make some recommendations, however if you are planning to take out rather than dine in: dumplings that travel well are pan fried not steamed. The steamed dumplings are more delicate and tend to stick together. The layered cucumbers is a great item for a sweet spicy cool down this summer. Unexpected delight. I enjoyed the lamb dumplings. They were exquisite. My lunch mate ordered pan fried pork & scallion dumplings. She said they were delicious but only fried on one side. I also ordered the fried rice with shrimp, sausage & vegetables. It didn't seem to be fried enough, which resulted in the rice being slightly oily. It contained 6 tiny shrimp and about the same number of slices of sausage. The vegetables were carrots, peas & onions. The service was fine. When we first went in, we were the only diners. As time went on, more diners & take out orders appeared. Even with only one waiter, our service did not change; that was commendable. The seating was close so it can get noisy. I first reviewed this spot in 2012. Almost 14 years later, they are even better! I hadn't been here in a couple of years, and we got takeout. We ordered two kinds of dumplings, chicken lo mein, a pork and eggplant noodle dish, agair vegetables with horseradish, and kimchi. Everything is so delicious and fresh! The dumplings are amazing (obviously). The agair vegetables are mushrooms in a very tasty sauce. The kimchi was flavorful, but not too pungent or overpowering. Wonton soup is trash which is what I originally came for & the manager is horrible. While ordering I stated that this was indeed my first time. It's made with bone broth hence the lighter flavor/color. Wontons were decent, but I'll never go back. Such a good spot! I've heard about this place for a while and had to drive up to try it. Their fried beef and onion dumpling was so good, my favorite of the two we got, with the steamed pork and shrimp dumpling tasting like a really good wonton. You can tell their dough and fillings are fresh. Also really enjoyed their unique flavor salad with chicken and horseradish. Would skip the bubble tea next time which was too sweet and get a ton more dumplings. The whole vibe of the place is so laidback and Jeremiah our server was the best! Was in the Poughkeepsie area and no visit ends until a meal is eaten (or picked up) at Palace Dumplings in Wappingers. Everything is made in house from the Dumplings to the noodles to the chili oil. It is a straight to the point kind of place and what they do, they do to perfection. Everything was delicious. It has hole in the wall vibes but in the best meaning possible. After a brewery, I was trying to figure out what to do for food. I always look for local places when traveling. There were a lot of choices but also not at the same time. There were chains and some 3/5 rated places. I looked for highly rated places and I found Palace Dumplings. In the description, it says a family tradition for the dumpling recipes. When looking up reviews, people said they would travel far for the dumplings AND the sesame noodles. I was sold! Inside there was no music playing. We did arrive the last hour they were open. We were seated quickly. I really liked how they had a few variety of sauces for dipping. They had a turmeric, soy sauce, and ginner soy sauce. I absolutely loved the ginger soy sauce. It worked so perfectly with the dumplings. Now for the sesame noodle. I was nervous at first. I picked out all the raw onions. I mixed everything together and WOW! It's like a sweet peanut butter sauce. The texture was great and I really liked it. It's a big serving too. I had a lot for leftovers. Overall, would go back again. read more

I've lost count of how many times I've come here and every time is delicious and just great service even on the busiest nights! The shrimp dumplings are my favorite but I've also had chicken and beef. The fried rice comes with fried sausages and shrimp that's the perfect combination with the dumplings. The ultimate side that's almost a palate cleanser since it has a tangy vinaigrette taste is the cucumber salad it's not super spicy but has a nice flavor. In case you can't finish your whole order they even have to go baggies of their home made sauces. It may look unassuming from the outside but this place is one of my favorites for comfort dumplings. The Pork and Chive was piping hot and very tasty. I didn't even need any soy sauce with these dumplings but do grab some hot sauce if you like yours spicy. We've tried the veggie dumplings and some seafood options but can't speak to the meat options. All fresh and delicious and 12 dumplings a portion is fantastic for the price! We prefer steamed. The dipping sauces are also simple but amazing (the duck sauce vinegar combo is insanely delicious). Moral of the story you need these authentic delicious dumplings in your life. Other mentions: The spicy veg noodle soup is good and a huge portion, though it I had minimal veg and was a 9/10 spice level for me and I generally enjoy a good spicy meal. Food is consistently good, but service levels consistently keeps going down. For months now, whenever we go on a weekend, they are always slammed. But they always only have two people run the show-possibly the owner & a server; handling both dine-in & take out orders. So there is literally no service and a very transactional place to come, eat & leave. Today was no exception, they took orders from 3 tables which came after us and when they came to us there was no apology or empathy. There is no order of the how, what, when the food comes out. Again the food is good, but the below standard service levels hardly makes it an experience but more of a hassle for them to have customers. I can't think of any particular time since my very first visit where I've stopped in at this establishment and been disappointed. Even through the covid pandemic when it was only take out the food was still excellent. Since we are back to a little bit of normal sleep if not back to 100% they've opened up the space from front to back and there's way more room than there ever was and it's got some booths, communal dining and a couple of tables as well if you're rolling with a bunch of folks. Overall you should definitely try a couple of appetizers and a steamed and fried dumpling entree. It comes a dozen per order so you should definitely go with a group. My favorites are the beef and carrot which has a pleasant texture and then the pork with sour cabbage which is also very savory. Be aware that these are authentic and they do have the soup inside the dumplings so if you bite down you might splash a bit and it will be hot. Definitely try the braised beef! Honestly, I was reluctant to try Palace Dumplings for a long time when I first moved up here. Growing up in Queens, it's very difficult to see past the price difference between Flushing/Chinatown/Sunset Park, and the rest of the world outside of Asia. But to my dismay, the pandemic hit and I was no longer able to make my casual weekly trips down to the city to fulfill my food cravings. And it worked out great, because I finally got around to trying Palace Dumplings - they turned out to be pretty darn good! I've had all the dumplings here. They are authentic, handmade, and always delicious. For the area and quality, the price is reasonable. You won't get any better dumplings for a long distance in any direction. I can't rave about them enough! My second go-to are the noodles with gravy - well seasoned, generous with meat/sauce, and perfect noodle texture! Be prepared to wait - everything is cooked to order, but trust me, this is a good thing. I like to call my order in ahead for take out. I love the Chinese speaking staff - they're always wonderful. I sometimes have trouble with the English speaking staff member who takes orders over the phone, but I've since learned to ask for a Chinese speaker. 5/5 for dumplings and "noodles with gravy", 5/5 for value, 5/5 for authenticity, 4/5 for service speed, but it's cooked to order so it can't be helped, just plan ahead. read more
