Food is consistently good, but service levels consistently keeps going down. For months now, whenever we go on a weekend, they are always slammed. But they always only have two people run the show-possibly the owner & a server; handling both dine-in & take out orders. So there is literally no service and a very transactional place to come, eat & leave. Today was no exception, they took orders from 3 tables which came after us and when they came to us there was no apology or empathy. There is no order of the how, what, when the food comes out. Again the food is good, but the below standard service levels hardly makes it an experience but more of a hassle for them to have customers. Regular customer. Dumpling are always on point. Fresh and delicious. We tried for the first time the vegetarian spicy noodle dish. It was level 10 spicy. Could not eat. Should be regular spicy not this extreme with hot peppers throughout the dish without any warning. Told waiter. He didn't care. Said they are spicy noodles. Yes I know that. Not my first spicy noodle dish. Should be marked extra spicy or come with spice levels like many places do. Even in Chinatown they do. This was fire !!! No offer to exchange, credit. Nothing. The dumping s here are incredible here, for this dumpling is by hand fresh perfection, I love how it's a whole shrimp and not cut up inside and scrambled eggs chucks and fresh chives. Honestly, I was reluctant to try Palace Dumplings for a long time when I first moved up here. Growing up in Queens, it's very difficult to see past the price difference between Flushing/Chinatown/Sunset Park, and the rest of the world outside of Asia. But to my dismay, the pandemic hit and I was no longer able to make my casual weekly trips down to the city to fulfill my food cravings. And it worked out great, because I finally got around to trying Palace Dumplings - they turned out to be pretty darn good! I've had all the dumplings here. They are authentic, handmade, and always delicious. For the area and quality, the price is reasonable. You won't get any better dumplings for a long distance in any direction. I can't rave about them enough! My second go-to are the noodles with gravy - well seasoned, generous with meat/sauce, and perfect noodle texture! Be prepared to wait - everything is cooked to order, but trust me, this is a good thing. I like to call my order in ahead for take out. I love the Chinese speaking staff - they're always wonderful. I sometimes have trouble with the English speaking staff member who takes orders over the phone, but I've since learned to ask for a Chinese speaker. 5/5 for dumplings and "noodles with gravy", 5/5 for value, 5/5 for authenticity, 4/5 for service speed, but it's cooked to order so it can't be helped, just plan ahead. read more

If you are looking for dumplings, this is for sure a place to visit. The go to dumplings are always the pork and chives. On the table is garlic vinegar and chili oil, great additions to those steamed dumplings. I'd also order their beef noodle soup. The broth is super flavorful and add some chili oil to make it spicy if you'd like. I will say there isn't a whole lot of seating, but I'd make sure to nab a table before a dinner rush. Figured it was a good time to update my review. Decor has gotten a nice upgrade - more like a restaurant as opposed to cafeteria style. However they have taken away the nice white porcelain dinnerware and replaced it with black plastic, which brings back the cafeteria feel. Menu has basically remained the same and the prices have nearly doubled - but it's still a great value. The most disappointing thing to me is the dumplings. They are thicker, tougher and a bit clunky. They aren't the same as when they originally opened, not as authentic. The originals were thin, silky texture, delicate and very easy to cut. The fillings were dry and a bit bland on our last visit and a bit overdone on the pan fry, they had a slight burnt taste to them. Spicy kimchi is still absolutely delicious. And it's still one our fave places to eat!! read more

Delicious dumplings. Probably some of the best in the area. A good variety of dumplings too. And they don't just have dumplings; they have noodles, rice, salad, etc. Overall a nice dining experience. We went on a Saturday evening and they were busy. It was about a 5 minute wait for a table. Maybe because they were so busy, but service was slow. The fried rice came out pretty quickly, but it took a while to get our drinks which were mainly just waters. Then they brought out each plate of dumplings one at a time. So by the time the last person in our party of five got their dumplings, the first person was almost done eating theirs. I'll chalk it up to it being a busy Saturday night tho. I have yet to go in person to Palace Dumplings but after ordering take out from them one night, I will give an update review of the restaurant when I can go. For now, the delivery service via Uber Eats was not bad and I got my order pretty quickly (it depends on the time you order since Uber takes ages with drivers being chosen). As a first time customer, I ordered the pork and chive dumplings, chicken dumplings and some Thai iced tea. The dumplings were made with pure love and freshness as if I was at the restaurant kitchen myself. Each dumpling set came with around 12 , which is a good price since in the city it's super expensive to order. Amazing food but Horrible Service. Our Waiter seemed to forget about us. We were sat, received our drinks and he did not come back for 45 mins. He took the order of 4 phone calls and took the order of 3 tables that came in after us. Once I saw that, I had to walk up to the counter and order the food for my table directly to the other employee behind the counter, who apologized. So we waited another 30 mins on top of that to finally receive our food. Which was delicious and really well made. The waiter specifically is absolutely the worst waiter I've ever had the pleasure to being around. ....Then we sat for another 40 mins waiting for our check, which never came. Okay so let's be point blank the dumplings are really really good so good that I would give it five stars amazing the texture the way they're cooked the ingredients inside. This is the kind of place you can come to and eat a million different things and walk out happy. I will say this though I'm not a fan of the sauce it was kind of drab and lackluster all of them actually. The sauce lacks any kind of kick or zing you know the typical traditional sauce you get with your dumplings it's missing it's really actually kind of flat. We called to check that they were open for indoor dining and they confirmed that you can order and eat in the restaurant but there wasn't table service. We were ok with that. The dumplings were good as usual. The skin was thin and the meat was tender and flavorful. We ordered both the steamed and paid extra $1.50 for several orders of fried and we still prefer the steamed. We also still loved the Kimchee. The only disappointment was they didn't have a restroom for us to use especially since we drove an hour to get there and to wash our hands before eating. I've been going to this place for years and and this is my go to spot for authentic real dumplings. And I'm not talking no frozen or American made dumplings I'm talking about straight out of in China. The prices are super cheap in my opinion for the amount of dumplings that you get. These aren't small quarter size dumplings these are good size dumpling that has a real balance of traditional seasonings within the meat. 'Palace Dumplings' is a little gem of a restaurant! It's a small place, run by a northern Chinese woman and it seems that everything that is presented to the patron is authentic, made in-house, fresh and outstanding in every way. Absolute gem. I was in Poughkeepsie for a weekend and craved dumplings. I usually get dumplings from Chinatown in NYC. Admittedly, my expectations were not that high because outside of the city, it is hard to find good, authentic, Asian food. I ordered the steamed pork and chive dumplings, pan fried pork and chive, and the chicken and corn dumplings. The meal was an easy 5/5 stars. The dumplings are as good as the ones from Chinatown and the prices for the area are reasonable. They are handmade and you can taste it. The dumplings were juicy and flavorful. Fantastic and authentic. We've ordered here so many times and never been disappointed. One of our favorites is the pork with sour cabbage. We usually order from here about once a month or so and get 2-3 dumpling varieties for our family of 3, plus spicy noodles, and have enough for the next day. I started of the food with a hot tea. It was very refreshing. The tea had a lot of good aroma. One of the aroma which I distinctly got was that of jasmine flower. Other Yelp reviews mentions that they were instructed to wait for 3 minutes while tea brews, while I was given no instruction. May be the brewed it for 3 minutes and then gave it to me. But tea was good nevertheless. I went for both steamed and fried dumplings. For steamed, I took beef with onions and for fried, I took lamb with onions. Both were equally good. When I took the first bite of the dumplings, I felt it as nice but lacking flavor. But then somebody in my group noticed dumpling sauce on the table. When we added dumpling sauce, the dumplings transformed into the best dumplings you can eat. Then I tried adding hot chilli oil on top, dumplings got even better. The only complaint I have is that they could have instructed me to add dumpling sauce. By sheer luck we noticed it and added it. Fried rice was also really good. You can feel the home made taste. Flavor was less in fried rice as well. You need add the hot chilli oil and dumpling sauce or soy sauce to bring the real taste out. Chicken low main was alright. They had black sesame ice cream and green tea ice cream. I went for black sesame ice cream. It was really good. There was even some black sesame in it to heighten the taste. read more
