I happen to be visiting the local area. The family I'm visiting we decided on Chinese for dinner. This location is the location that they use and have used for years because of how good it is. But recently last night they did not meet the mark. We ordered our food with no issues over the phone. We went and picked up our order and that was a breeze. Once we got home and started opening everything up and enjoying our food, we ended up not really enjoy enjoying it and through quite a bit out. I opted for the sweet-and-sour chicken with pork fried rice and an egg roll. I also got the sautéed string beans and a small vegetable lo mein. My vegetable lo mein was actually pretty good no complaints there. My sweet-and-sour chicken was fine as well. It was a little more doughy than I generally like, but it was fine. The pork fried rice that it comes with was dry absolutely dry. Some of the pieces were even kind of curled up because of how dry it was and or hard. I didn't really eat it. The egg roll it came with was actually not too bad. It had a spice flavoring. Very minimal kind of like cinnamon. I've had it before at other locations where I've had that taste. I don't mind it. The string beans were pretty good and that's where everything else became downhill. My aunt got chicken ciao with Angel hair and she stated that the chicken was like gristle. My uncle got sweet-and-sour shrimp and it was full of the batter. His shrimp fried rice also was not the best. It was as if they fried up some rice and then just added some sautéed shrimp to it. In the end, they threw away just about everything except for the string beans the container of white rice and the leftover lo mein. They kept saying that it's never like this and they wonder if there's a new ownership or anything of that nature that we're not aware of because the quality has definitely gone down. They said multiple times that they're probably gonna just have to find a new Chinese restaurant because this one just isn't hitting the mark now. read more

It's not a fancy restaurant, it's in a strip mall across from the local high school. It is a pleasant atmosphere, the counter people get the orders correct, the first time. The portions are more than sufficient. You order at the counter, find a seat, the staff will bring it over. The food is at the right temperature, hot and fresh. Nothing to really complain about. read more

Im give a 4 stars only because it's really not a " restaurant " more like a delicious take out. The food is consistently good. Hot and Sour soup is truly " hot" and spicy and delicious. Singapore Rice Curry Noodles is tasty and also deli, food always made to order and served pipping hot. MaPa Tofu, if you like Toffu you will love this dish. Portions are BIG, prices are very reasonable. As Chinese food is concerned I think it's the place to go. We are never disappointed with their food. read more

Everything I have Yates so far has been absolutely delicious. Thinking of trying the pork chop noodle soup today!

It was too hot to eat inside so we got take out. I was excited since the photos looked great and there was good reviews but was mistaken. Our food was not fresh and if you're going for taste, look elsewhere in my opinion. The general tso chicken felt fake and I had to spit out this boney stuff inside of it. The crab wontons weren't bad, I just wasn't a fan of the spinach. My boyfriend wasn't impressed with his food either. All in all, I won't be going back and will try another place next time. read more

The food is pretty good at this Asian kitchen. We do takeouts frequently because we don't want to cook at home. The menu is fairly extensive, and only a few times it was hit or miss, but never really bad. The kitchen staff is friendly and will accommodate you if you don't want a dish too spicy. I was reading my review I left regarding regarding your experienced and well deserved accolades for your service especially with high school kids who bombard your place being theirselves. LOUD KIDS. LOL. YOUR food in general is the best I've tasted since my favorite meals in Jefferson Valley NY. The taste is different but very satisfying to what I'm used to... also coming up from years living in the Bronx surrounded by some of the most upscale Chinese cuisine! As I was not expecting to find anything comparable in Chinese food that would satisfy my particular and fussy tasting preferences! A few restaurants I've tried up here weren't bad but they tasted rushed and off in the flavors it was supposed to have. Textures and flavors just didn't seem to have the care and professionalism that I had in NYC. So i decided after really not happy with the places I tried, i decided to try yours and prayed it would keep me from only getting food that was expertly cooked and delicious which I only found in Yorktown hgts! Now, thankfully and really hoping you keep improving the on expert taste! One critique I have is your egg drop soup! Taste is OK. But the color should almost show as translucent and taste like chicken broth more than the thickening agent used. I love the way you "Julienne " the vegetable in every dish.. it makes a huge difference in how the flavors meld together! And easier to eat with out the mess hahaha! Eddie has provided top notch Chinese food at this location for almost 30 years. His menu is extensive and the specials occasionally change. Prices are fair and the servings are large. The food is great. Spicy when it should be and savory when it shouldn't. His Mapo Tofu is the best around. My kids grew up on his chicken and broccoli. Now my grandchildren have that pleasure. Oriental Kitchen used to be such a treat for my family when I went to school at John Jay across the street. I came in this evening hoping to have a delicious throw back meal. First off, our order was wrong and we didn't notice until it was home. Crab Rangoons were filled with spinach, veggi lo mein had chicken in it and shrimp pad thai also contained chicken which was not ordered. Won Ton soup was cold after a short 10 minute drive and needed to be heated up. General tso's chicken was mushy, and had an extremely oddly flavored. Worst part was the pad thai though, which had a horrible fish odor to it. Due to the smell we refused to eat it, but did dig through it in order to identify the foul odor. Inside we found uncleaned shrimp filled with poop, along with grey chicken and what appeared to be egg. Overall this was a complete failure, even the egg rolls were bland. I drove out of the way to get Oriental kitchen when chang Ying is walking distance to my house. This spot went soo down hill it's sad. Food tonight was terrible and I doubt I will be back. Our giant takeout order for Christmas was hot, ready on time, and delicious. Our feast for 20 people including out of towners was scheduled for 1:30pm at the Residence Inn on Rt. 9. We ordered chicken lo mien, beef with broccoli, seafood special and sweet and sour chicken for the main entrees. The seafood special had a good amount of seafood and wasn't overly loaded with vegetables. The lo mien, beef with broccoli and sweet and sour chicken were also very good. Everyone really enjoyed the appetizers which consisted of dumplings and ribs. The ribs were very meaty and cooked nicely. The dumplings were also cooked just right... not too mushy or too firm. This was a very big order on a very busy day and Oriental Kitchen was up to the task with food produced on time and prepared well. read more

This is the first spot we tried since our old favorite closed during Covid and never reopened. It's where we will be going from now on. Very friendly and polite staff. Chicken and broccoli was slightly greasy, but delicious. Vegetable Lomein great. Pork fried rice was a little on the dry side, but still tasty. Update: This is the kind of place where you need to know what to order because some things are bad and some things are super amazing and completely worth the drive. I went there again with my boyfriend recently and we both ordered the homemade beef dumplings which were absolutely delicious.. and I will come back for it again. I ordered it there so I had it fresh out of the kitchen, which probably added to its amazingness, so if you can, I would order it there rather than getting it as take out. My favorite there, which I mentioned in my old comment, is the #1 pasta dish, which is a bunch of rice noodles with pork, chicken, and shrimp. it is so good when you add Sriracha to it to make it a little spicy if you are into that kind of stuff. My boyfriend and I also ordered some kind of Kung Pao shrimp dish with peanuts but it tasted like it was made with dirty water or something. I would advise against that dish and get it elsewhere because usually I like Kung Pao dishes and I wasn't into this one. They should be sweet, spicy and nutty from the peanuts, but this wasn't any of that, and I almost wonder if they forgot a main ingredient. I am not that picky, and if it was even remotely good, I probably would have eaten it, but we left the whole thing behind. I have tried a lot of things at this place since it is local and across the street from the local hopewell junction high school, and because they do have some really good dishes, I will continue to go there. Just make note that some things will have to be avoided, like a lot of restaurants. I raised my vote from 3 stars to 4 stars because those homemade beef dumplings were very memorable, and the angel hair pasta dish has yet to disappoint. I think this place is amazing. It has all kinds from Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and more. When we visit Global Foundries, we stop by here for lunch. I have been coming here for 3 years and I enjoy everything I had so far - Mabo tofu, Kung Pao chicken, Udon, Soba, Pho, Eggplant with beef, Teriyaki Chicken... We've been die hard loyalists since moving to Hopewell in 2009. We've never had a bad meal here. It's nice the kitchen is totally visible from the counter and it's spotless. The noodle bowls are awesome and Eddie is such a nice owner and now his family is there more and more and you can see the dedication to the family business. Always consistently delicious! I recently moved to dutchess and my boyfriend and I were looking for a decent Chinese place to order from. This place was recommended by a co worker that lives in Pawling. I have eaten here multiple times since then and I have not been disappointed! It is consistently delicious! My favorite thing to order is the Thai curry seafood soup. It's spicy and satisfying every time. My boyfriend usually gets the chicken with garlic sauce. He always orders it extra saucy and extra spicy. His order is always made exactly how he likes it and he's extremely picky with his food. The owner (Eddie) is always there and such a nice man. In addition to the regular menu they have a TON of specials posted on the wall in the restaurant. If you want to try something different I recommend going there to order so you can see what they have to offer. They don't deliver but it's worth the trip to go to this place. My best friends and I would order this after class back in high school and Eddie would always laugh and fix our orders. The chicken in brown sauce over white rice is addicting and unlike any other brown sauce I've had. Best place ever. I walk in thinking I'm going to grab some fried dumplings, next thing I know I spot a menu on the wall (the wall covered in menus, because apparently this place makes everything) that says "Noodle Soups." Just like that my day was made. They have great ingredients. Pork chops, bok choy, chinese broccoli AKA mustard orchid, wakame, bean sprouts, chashu pork "I learned this recipe in Hong Kong" he said. I had a feeling this guy was the owner, if not, he should be. He showed me a photo album full of the soups, and they all looked amazing. Ramen, udon, vermicelli, you name it, the fresh kind. In the end what my takeaway from takeaway ramen was (kicking myself for not being more adventurous) if everything else is as good as this ramen is, at those prices, and that selection, you get the idea. Thrilled to stumble upon this joint last night in search for something resembling decent take out in this county. While the menu sports all the 'typical' chinese takeaway fare, there is a huge selection of stuff you'd typically only find down in the city or in a more 'upscale' Asian restaurant. So I decided to go big... no beef and broccoli, no General Tso's chicken, no wonton soup, no egg rolls. I went straight to the 'specials' list to see if these guys were for real with this awesome looking menu or not, and I was rewarded kindly. Pork and shrimp dim sum to start, chicken pad thai, Hong Kong style rib tips in black bean sauce, and 1/2 a roasted duck. First off...let me say that the dim sum here are worth the trip alone! Although the Pad Thai left something to be desired...very bland. The Hong Kong ribs were awesome, and the duck was very good (perhaps not superlative, the skin could've been a little crispier and the glaze was clearly just some hoisin sauce, with not much else going on.) That being said, it is clearly the best Chinese food I've had in the area, and I've been here now for 8 years. Is it Mr. Chow's or Shun Lee down in the city? Of course not...but I'd definitely say that the next time I'm jonesing for this particular crave, I'll go out of my way to get myself here! read more

How do you tell if an Asian restaurant serves authentic tasting food. No need to actually taste anything they make. Just look inside. See any Asian's there? No? Then they probably serve americanized versions of the original. Yes? Then you've got a winner. That said, take a look in Oriental Kitchen during a weekday lunch hour. I almost think IBM placed this restaurant here as an alternative for their cafeteria. This place is chock full of Asians. Korean's, Japanese, Chinese, and these are people that actually come from overseas. So if they're here you can bet the food is good. What's good here? I'll focus on the three dishes I normally get. 1) angel hair pasta - rice noodles stir fired with egg, shrimp, roasted pork, marinated pork pieces, and various vegetables. 2) pork chop noodle soup - your choice of noodle with a few pieces of fried pork chops that have been seasoned with five spice powder. The soup is seasoned with a tasty broth and has a medley of familiar and uniquely chinese vegetables. 3) Beef tendon noodle soup - your choice of noodle in a deliciously beefy broth and vegetables. Now, part of asian cooking is the texture of the food, not just the taste. So the best part of this dish is the braised beef tendons which may not be to the the taste of many people. They're kind of sticky due to the gelatin being cooked out of the meat, tender, squishy, and rubbery. (I know I'm not making it sound good, but it's delicious) I'm pretty sure the other food they have there is great also, but I stick with what I like and these three are my staples there. read more

I grew up in the area (went to high school across the street) and after college, I moved to So. California for 10 years. I basically judged every Chinese food place I ever went to, in CA, against this place and I only came close ONCE. Just moved back in the area and popped in last night for some takeout. YUM! I know everyone has different tastes, but in my opinion, THIS is what Chinese food/Asian food take out. While living in in CA I called it "NY Chinese Food" :) -I took off 1/2 a star because while I appreciate the authenticity sometimes over the phone (and in person) it really is hard to understand the person taking your order. -I took off 1/2 star because while I LOVE doing takeout, I wish the eat-in area was a little more cozy. Chinese food is a very hard thing to judge since so many people have such different opinions on what is "good." Since moving to California, I have found that most of the places near where I live are amazingly awful, and in at least 2 cases the food makes me physically sick. Most Chinese food places out here simply serve as reminders of how good the Oriental Kitchen is back in New York. Oriental Kitchen is small, yet extremely good. I can't talk enough about how good the egg rolls and pork fried rice is. I started eating here because it was right across the street from where I worked, but I became a die hard fan after the first meal. As good as the food is, the service was just as great. The owner, Eddie, always stopped for at least a few minutes to say hello no matter how busy it was. I'm a known fan of smaller eateries, and I was happy to support a small place that provided such good food. The only possible complaint I could see is that the prices could be a little better, but then again you get what you pay for so I'm actually happy to pay for the quality. read more

Wow, shocked to see decent, non-Americanize Chinese food joint that is outside of a typical established Asian community. (Well, IBM is right across the street.) If you order what is Cantonese in style, you will get just that. If you order Taiwanese or the Japanese offerings, you'll get a Cantonese abstraction of that food. Either way, if you're missing authentic Cantonese Chinese food, this is the place to go. If you come with a large party, they give you a package of complimentary Almond Cookies. Good for takeout or a total bum dressing down style dinner, it's all good. read more
