As you walk in clean space we needed a meal it es unclear where to sit we waited a couple of minutes and eventually directed by the woman worker ; the only other worker was a male who prepared the sushi and hibachi...way understaffed ...after we waited again we ordered we had to advice the woman we wanted drinks she could recommend anything so I ordered tempura to be safe my other half did sushi rolls ... my dinner cane with miso soup and ginger dressing salad both terrible ...we waked in about 530 our dinner took them exactly an hour to get to us ...if the place was packed I'd say sure nope only 2 other couple 1 who had finished their meal. When they served the tempura I asked if they had yum yum sauce ...no I said any sweet sauce no my table neighbor recommended ginger sauce but since this woman disappeared I didn't bother we finished I asked for the bill I had to chase her down . I'm from Florida and have had so much trouble finding quality food in Pine Bush but this place was phenomenal! I honestly think if you try one bite of their fried rice you'd never enter Larry's again. This place is unmatched except for the vegetarian place next door which is also great. So glad I found this. came here to try the sushi here, it's pretty small and has a nice ma and pop feel for a sushi place. so, ma was very polite and nice and warmly give me the menu and offered drinks immediately. so, I got the sushi and sashimi lunch combo and a side order of spicy tuna rolls. all the sushi and sashimi were fresh and made to order, rice was good as well, something I did notice and I enjoy was the sesame seeds rolled on the sushi rolls, it added another layer of flavor. Miso soup was very hot and fresh, not much to say. now the spicy tuna roll, I will say was bit different than I expected, used to having spicy tuna rolls having grinded up tuna with mayo sriracha, then in a whole piece with a very spicy sauce on top, and let me say that sauce was a surprise how spicy it was, it woke me up instantly after one bite. Oriental House is one of those restaurants that's out of place, but you're glad it's there. I don't know how large the Korean population of the area surrounding Pine Bush is, but I have never seen a Korean eating in this place. Nevertheless, the food (authentic Korean cuisine or not) is delicious. The food available here is Korean, but with many Japanese touches. The grilled food is reminiscent of Japanese hibachi/teppanyaki cooking, but with Korean flair such as japchae and bulgogi sauce. Similar to a Japanese hibachi experience, your choice of grilled food comes as a complete meal with soup, salad, and shrimp appetizer. This amount of food would satisfy just-about anyone, but we always get a bit of sushi and seaweed salad in addition. Mr. Oh serves as the restaurant's sole sushi man and grill-master. If the restaurant is busy, expect a relaxed meal with a long wait as Mr. Oh shifts between the sushi bar and grill. read more

I came in with an idea of Korean food, but soon I realized that their menu had that and more. I decided to order the noodles, and they were delicious as expected. I thought the waitress was lovely. She was really nice. The dinner was delightful, starting with small appetizer of fried gyoza and then salad, and then lastly my noodles with plenty of veggies and mushrooms. The sauces was delicious. It was a nice portion, so I had to take the remainder in a box-to-go. I really liked the interior. Something makes me think that this is a family owned restaurant. I saw people dressed in business attire, a huge family, three people on the side--college friends maybe? We have eaten here many times and are just crazy about their sauces. We love their filet mignon, spicy of course. Tempora is delicious. Restaurants are having a terrible time making it during covid. We have been making a great effort to regularly visit to support them in hopes it makes it (as well as all our favorite restaurants). A little understanding, patience is in order and gratitude for them continuing to be open despite everything. Try oriental house and it soon will be your favorite too! Came here once and will never return. Service was absolutely horrible. We sat down and waited about 15 minutes just for them to take our drink orders. 20 minutes later they take our food orders. Keep in mind-There is a family of four to my left and a couple across from me. They had one to-go order in the time we were there. We waited almost and hour for our food to come out and when it did..... Salmon was overcooked, served with some type of transparent jelly fish noodle substance that was repulsive to look at. My boyfriend asked specifically for no noodles because he had been here multiple times in the past, yet was served them anyway. This is supposed to be a hibachi restaurant but we were served no rice!!! When we pointed that out to our waitress she sincerely apologized and brought it out about 10-15 minutes later. My husband and I just moved around here in May. I was dying for Sushi. I wanted to go out and eat healthy, instead of diner food and the usual fast food and/or chain restaurant food. So, we tried this small, local place, basing on the other reviews, which I usually do not do, but had no choice. They were right on point. This place was awesome. It was small, however, not a busy night so the service was good. It seemed as if the owner was serving us. She was polite and very quick bringing out our meal. The food was so good. We ordered the shrimp Tempora as an appetizer, which I highly recommend and I ordered the California and Tuna rolls. Yum. It was definitely fresh. I could not finish them and brought them home. My husband got an entree, NY steak and miso soup, which was excellent also. I highly recommend this place to any local or anyone visiting. Two thumbs up. read more

So upset with my visit last night... I've been many times and have always said "eh I'll give it another shot" because the sushi is good. I now know I will never ever return.. It took 15 minutes for us just to get waters. No eye contact or apologies at all. She then came back 10 minutes later for our order; so it has now been almost a half hour and we only just put in our order for additional beverages and food. While waiting during that next hour I was noticing couples walk in and instead of greeting them Mrs. O said "its a very long wait" I guess hoping they would turn around and leave. This was very odd to me and really made me feel not welcome after hearing it about 3 or 4 times. A couple that arrived an hour after us had ordered hibachi; figuring we had only ordered sushi we would probably get our meal first (and we were there a lot longer then them). Not the case at all; after making the sushi for a to go order the Mr. O started to turn on the hibachi grill and start cooking their meals. (that process I know would take at least another half hour to forty five minutes). It was 9:00pm with no hopes of getting our food. That is when my boy friend got up and told the woman that we can no longer wait (our food hadn't even been started yet) She said "Ok you pay for dinks and salad then" I am so completely baffled and can't even believe she did not apologize or offer to take one of the beverages off or ANYTHING?!?! We paid and left. Instead of making a scene I then called to talk to Mrs. O to explain how unhappy I was with the service and how unacceptable it was. She said "OK OK, BYE BYE" and hung up. Again no apology at all... The phone call just made me more angry about the situation. That is why I decided to write this review... and why I will tell people of my experience.. and NEVER return. read more

I went on a Monday at 12:30 pm and the place was empty. It was just the man who was cooking and the woman who took my order. Both people were very nice. The shrimp tempura roll was delicious, and the lunch special of bulgogi chicken with soup, fried rice, and veggies was delicious too. The chicken, rice, and veggies were made hibachi-style right in front of me. While I was there, two other people came in to pick up food ordered over the phone, which is an option too. The 4 and 5 star reviews show how rare decent Asian food is in the Hudson Valley. For Pine Bush maybe it is a 4 or 5 but in Brooklyn it would be a 1. Sorry - food is so-so, nothing special. Unexpectedly authentic fusion of Japanese and Korean for the region. It is clearly a labor of love for the proprietor. The food was excellent, the décor reminiscent of some of our favorite places in Kyoto and Seoul. For the ambiance question on the survey there isn't a category that fits. It is influenced by the wabi-sabi aesthetic movement from Japan. Everything in the store is deliberate but not showy. Factoring in the region this would definitely be 5 stars, and I would have given it 5 except for some minor lapses in service (slow getting the check) and a slight sulfurous edge on the Pine Bush water that is unwelcome to an outsider. read more
