Called for reservation but probably wasn't needed (July 3rd and weather issues in the area) Great service. Greeted promptly when we arrived. Restaurant maybe 1/2 full. Couldn't decide so we ordered a few apps (KFC chicken, edamame and scallion pancake) all of which were delicious. Decided to get bao buns and fried rice. Note: ordered chicken and shrimp but should have specified we wanted one dish with both meats - instead we got 2 bowls - which just means more for lunch tomorrow! Staff stayed calm when the lights flickered a few times and just said "hopefully the chefs are almost done with your meals because we don't have a generator"). Had to dodge a few broken trees on 94 on the way home but all in all a great meal! Also it's BYOB but really didn't miss the wine - Yuzu ade was refreshing on this 90+ degree day. read more

Our son recommended this place, during our recent visit. The food was delicious and it was beautifully presented. The service was quick and friendly. Ambiance was calm and decor was simple and clean. We will be back. read more

We ordered takeout. Honestly, everything was completely bland and lacked a traditional Korean flavor. The fried chicken was the best thing we got. The Korean pancake was soggy and the japchae wasn't very flavorful. I really wanted to like this place because I really love Korean food but honestly, I'd rather drive to Fort Lee or Palisades Park and pick something good up instead of going here again. Just not worth the money. read more

I'm lost for words on this one, just go and give them your money now. It's so worth it #CanIGiveMoreThan5Stars?. Make the hour drive, eat at much as you can and bring some home for the next day, enjoy every moment of it. This small sit down restaurant has an amazing selection of food and everything is cooked perfectly. The price to quality/quantity ratio is perfectly balanced. Again, I highly recommend visiting here for the really friendly down to earth service, the cute and cozy aesthetic, and exemplary food. read more

Blue Spice has been on my to-do list for literally years, and Monday was finally the day. I stopped by for lunch with my top-tier chum, a native of the Kingdom of Sussex who has been here before and has spoken highly of it. I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake. read more

My mom found this place and it's a staple in our family. The galaxy lemonade is so good, i can drink it in one gulp. The purple color is created when they come and pour it over the top. Kids love it and find it so fun. Service is excellent! My mom can't eat vegetables (they upset her stomach) and so they give us all shrimp instead. It's perfectly fried. The shrimp fried rice is so good too! It's not overly greasy but still has the perfect flavor! I can eat the whole thing. The place is clean and the staff are inviting. I highly recommend stopping by!! read more

We ate there yesterday evening. For a Saturday night very few patrons. I had the glass noodle beef dish. What arrived was a HUGE plate of noodles which I had to search through to find maybe a handful of small beef slices. Value for money ZERO! Appetizers were just OK - overall nothing special here. It's the scond time we have been to Blue Spice - we will not return. read more

What a delightful dining experience! The dining room is bright and well decorated. Tables are far apart and the noise level is just right so conversations, across the table, are easily heard. Our server was helpful, patient and knowledgeable, recommending dishes that she thought we'd enjoy. We started with Scallion Pancakes. Ooh! They were so tasty and perfectly crispy. I had the curry dish. My chicken cutlet was crispy and delicious. The accompanying sauce was good but I think it could have been more flavorful. My husband had Tofu Ramen Soup. We look forward to returning to try more dishes. Blue Spice Kitchen has a wonderfully creative menu. We will be back. read more

This is a great little spot! The bao buns and ramen were delicious and service was friendly and helpful!

For the area this is the best Asian fusion you're going to get. However I wasn't happy with my dish, the food just lacked depth and I felt like it was just a plate of hot noodles. My wife had the udon soup with fried shrimp and that had good flavor to it. The birth was very good I'm just not a fan of udon. Overall this is a great place in the area I just feel like we ordered the wrong things but there really shouldn't be "wrong things" so idk. Oh and it's byob read more

The glass noodles were absolutely amazing! I choose shrimp and beef with mine. We also enjoyed the Bao buns with beef (2) shrimp (2). The scallion pancake appetizer was super good. Jekyll and Hyde.....Excellent food and service until after you pay the bill. Then the staff turns on you. Waitress was talking to her friends and was so loud that another customer had complained before us. Then we complained and we're basically told they don't care. I dropped $200...no liquor, only food. They will never get another penny. Very poor management skills. Need some more seasoned management and wait staff. read more

We ordered Korean scallion pancake as appetizer, Japchae glass noodles with beef, Akiko Curry and bibimbop with beef. We all like the pancake and glass noodles. I will definitely come back for glass noodles. The other dishes were average. The waiter and waitress were both friendly, very nice and they attended to our needs in advance. Fantastic service and nice dining atmosphere. This is a hidden gem. We will be back. read more

Great Korean food!! We love the kimchi pancakes, yuzu drink and of course the Korean fried chicken and BimBop!!

The best food I've ever had, no exaggeration, it's mouth watering good. I wish I could give this place 7 stars. From service to food and ambiance, I have not a single complaint. For apps, we got the chicken dumplings that were fresh and cooked to crispy perfection. and the boa buns literally MELT IN YOUR MOUTH, hands down the best thing I've ever tasted (we got the bulgogi ones). For entrees we tried the Akiko Curry which was (again) perfectly cooked with rich flavor. I also got the KFC with cheese fries, perfectly crispy and paired with a unique sauce that is ADDICTIVE. If you're in the area or coming from TreEscape or Mountain Creek, DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! Like I mean cancel your others plans and come here, I promise you won't regret it. We love Blue Spice! There's a Korean theme with a lot of fusion dishes as well. We've tried a number of dishes here and they are all great - the Udon, the Ramyum, the KFC! The beverages are also delicious. The service is always incredible here, they treat us so well. I've brought family here for celebration lunch - it's casual but with a cafe vibe too so it's good for a chill lunch with friends or a celebratory dinner! Wow! I never would have guessed that my sister and I would find such a great Korean spot near our hometown upstate NY. I came up for a visit and we were just kidding around about getting Korean, such a surprise to us when we saw this spot opened less then 30 minutes away. We immediately headed over for lunch. This place could fit into Korean Town no problem, it is so modern and cool inside. Very stylish, and bright because it has an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows. The staff is so nice here (we've been back many times), every time we come the people are friendly and we can actually ask them about the menu and the restaurant without feeling like we are taking too much of their time. On to the food. Absolutely loved the kimchi pancake. Wonderful tang from the kimchi, fried to be crunchy on the outside but soft and fluffy in the middle. Also ordered the Dak-Galbi Ban-Sang set. At first glance at the chicken we weren't that impressed, but there was this marinade that made it so juicy and flavorful. It came with some ban chan sides, they were good nothing amazing but good. Don't forget to order some of their teas/lemonades. The Lemonade Galaxy is my favorite, so tart and sweet with such gorgeous colors. Don't forget to read more

What a great find! I have been looking for a great meal and finally found one. Everything I had was excellent. The very cool multicolored lemonade was tasty. For apps we got the Korean Fried Chicken (of which I am a huge fan) and this met my expectations. We also had the chicken dumplings. There are 5 choices for the dumplings, but we went Ruth the chicken only. Great flavor and nice dipping sauce. I got the Beef Bibimbap and was glad I did. Great flavor on the beef and the combo of veggies added a lot to it. Mixing it all up with the rice just made it that much better. My wife got the Umami burger. I ended up with half of it. It was a perfect medium rare (too rare for my wife). I thought the burger was good. It had good flavor, but would go for mare traditional faire if I am ordering. I will definitely be back, super happy I found a place like this 10 minutes from home. read more

The food here was quite good. Very large portions. The variety of dumplings -- good but not great and a bit too fried for my liking. The kimchi pancake was good but again, just too fried. Really enjoyed my huge bowl of bibimbap - could have used more pork but everything else was huge quantity and good. The katsu curry chicken dish- huge platter and this is what we came for since reading about it in a newspaper as top rated. It lacked the rich, full flavor sauce of our favorite place in the city but it was still good. The white rice was perfectly cooked. I was told my son's KFC was delicious and his dad agreed-- it was so good they finished it without letting me have some! Really appreciated the kind and friendly servers. read more

I can't believe we only just discovered this place. The food is incredible and the hand made specialty drinks are delicious. Our server Kira was very nice, informative and welcoming. We shared the kimchi pancakes, and each had an entree. We opted for the bento box lunch special so we could try a little bit of everything. I had the KFC and my husband had the bulgogi. Both bento boxes were flavorful, the KFC was super crispy and the bulgogi well seasoned and juicy. For drinks, I had the yuzu lemonade, which I could not stop drinking, I believe there were candied pieces of yuzu at the bottom of the glass, and my husband had the royal pear cinnamon punch, tasted like fall, also delicious. We loved everything about this place. If you were to close your eyes you'd think you were in NYC to have amazing food like this. So glad to have a place like Blue Spice Kitchen in Sussex County!! read more
