The service is so thoughtful. I have visited numerous times in the past 3 years. It is my 10 year old's favorite spot. She can be a particular eater and indecisive. She took forever to order and the staff was so patient. I would skip the fried ice cream but the miso, tea, noodles, and sushi are all solid. The Asian sodas are cool too! The server was very attentive to me and other customers, did not rush me to order and made sure to repeat the order. I like the soy sauce pot they have the table, it's pretty unique looking and definitely different then way smaller ones I seen elsewhere. The cowboy roll was amazing, never knew how good grilled steak is on sushi, plus cooked to medium. Also the tempura shrimp was juicy on inside and crunchy outside, plus the shrimp also got the blow touch treatment and had grilled taste as well. The wasabi and yum sauce were great, perfectly balanced very spicy and very sweet. The Atlantic roll, was alright I mean the lobster salad and yum sauce were really top notch, but I wish the middle had more then just stick of cucumbers, I mean a refreshing roll after the heavy beef one, but lacking in flavor. Another note on this place, I saw on the menu they have all you can eat sushi for $45 from 5pm-8pm, unless you got money to burn, there better all you eat sushi cheaper and all day. This is tough between here and Sushi House down the road, they both are really good. I love that his place has some nicer Japanese food selections such as; salmon belly, toro, oysters, poke bowls, & don-buri's. The inside is kind of packed but it's nice. I haven't gone to sit down in years (before covid) but I've been getting take out and so far, so good!! Sushi House definitely offers a better sit down dining experience/atmosphere. The sushi is so fresh and delicious and not tiny sized portions like Tokyo Tavern lol. Great little hole in the wall for a nice and casual dinner. The food is really good, me and my hubby both got salmon teriyaki for our entrees. After checking yelp reviews, we went from Hopewell Junction to Poughkeepsie and searched for this place. 20 minutes of being lost was well worth the trip. I am a picky eater from Connecticut. I adore sashimi. Our Waitress Julie was fantastic. I sat down and she brings over complimentary Edamame. We ordered the Love Boat for two, and they made the accommodations for my allergy. Chloe, the manager, helped us pick out Sake and with ordering some new things. Overall, the experience was perfect! The fish is unbelievably fresh and has a wonderful presentation. Chloe even gave us a complimentary bottle of Sake because we told her of our difficult time finding the place. The sushi guys were very nice, the service was quick and respectful, and the establishment is very clean. Do not be fooled by the outside (strip mall) appearance. She was very patient and waited for us to make up our mind on what to order. Throughout our meal, she kept checking on us. She was also very prompt to remove any dishes that we were no longer using. My boyfriend ordered oysters and a salmon avocado sushi roll. I ordered the Spider roll and the Lagrange roll. My boyfriend was very satisfied with his order, I tasted his meal and it was very good. My order was ok, not great but not bad. Maybe next time I will stay away from the LaGrange roll, too much mayo mixed in with the lobster. Besides that, I was very satisfied with my meal. First time eating at Ichiban. I was so glad that we finally had a dine in Japanese restaurant in the area. Sadly, the food was very good. However, it is served in a large empty store about 5-6 stores away from where the food is prepared! Ambiance is a Zero. Getting everything in paper cups and on paper plates was so disappointing. We felt so bad because we needed Sweet & Low and we had to wait for the young man to come back and then he had to make another trip down the walkway and then back again. We got a reservation for 630 and no food was served to us until 730, and that was just one of the appetizers we ordered. We were literally starving and about to leave when they brought it out to us. When all the food came out we ate it in less than 5 minutes and left. The sushi was good, but my bf is sick this morning and were unsure if it was from that. This is the cutest little hole in the wall Japanese place, maybe 12 tables. The service is quick and friendly and the sushi is made while you watch at their 4 seat sushi bar. They bring hot towels to freshen up before serving. Casual and relatively kid-friendly, our kids (9 and 6) think its a big deal to go here. Some of our favorite dishes include the yakitori chicken, beef negimaki, and many of the sushi and sashimi varieties. The sushi is very fresh. I'm not too big into sushi but they have at least a few without fishy stuff. My husband absolutely loves this place, as he is a big sushi eater, much more adventurous than I am. read more

Some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. I have tried miso soup before at a number of different places but have never liked it until now. I got a spicy tuna roll, a shrimp tempura roll, and a Fantastic roll. They were all well made and tasted very fresh. It wasn't busy at all when my girlfriend and I went so it was very intimate and our server was very friendly. They have a great selection of special rolls that seemed unique to this establishment. This spot is the absolute best Sushi in the area and has been for years. Recently a new sushi place opened up called New Kitcho Sushi and they are good too, but this place is just on another level. Each roll is made so elegantly and tastes fresh and amazing. Would highly recommend. Due to COVID their seating arrangement is not ideal, but before COVID it was the best. Now New Kitcho creates some competition, but I can't wait for the pandemic to be over and seating to be in the restaurant again! I've gone to many places in NYC and Long Island for Sushi and Ichiban's food quality matched many of those locations (compared to similar prices, of course). read more

They took us to a separate room to dine in because it was too hot to eat outside and we had the entire room to ourselves. We felt so special! A great casual little sushi place. The sushi from here is always great whether we sit down or get take out. Everything is always delicious, the presentation is lovely, and the portions are a nice size. Some sushi places give you very small pieces of fish and load rolls up with rice, they don't do that here. The staff is always very friendly. Also try the oyster on the half shell appetizer, kind of like a Japanese ceviche. For the area it is a very good sushi restaurant. read more
