Curry Noodles with chicken.
Kev H.

We visited the restaurant a few days ago for a dine-in experience and were pleasantly surprised to discover a promotion running throughout August. If you dined in on weekdays, you'd receive a complimentary Thai iced tea per guest and 10% off the total bill. That was nice! Had we known earlier, we definitely would've come more often--but unfortunately, we couldn't find any information about it online and only learned about it by visiting in person. And we only found out about it toward the end of the month. Hopefully, if they consider this type of promotion again, they'll advertise it more broadly. As for the food, we ordered some of our usual favorites, like their curry dishes. But this time, we also wanted to be adventurous and try something new/different, so we went with the following: Basil Duck Stir-Fry: This dish features "wok-fried crispy duck" with carrots, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, baby corn, and basil leaves. It was savory and delicious. However, I wouldn't describe the duck as "crispy," especially with the sauce softening it. That said, the flavor was still excellent, and we really enjoyed it. Pad See Ew: A classic Thai dish made with wide rice noodles stir-fried with egg, broccoli, and carrots, flavored with a dark sweet soy sauce. The wise noodles were nicely cooked and soaked up all that rich, sweet flavor. Definitely a favorite. One note of caution: when it comes to spice level, "medium" here means spicy! We ordered medium for all our dishes and were sweating by the end of the meal! Next time, we'll definitely go with mild. Service was excellent, and the restaurant was very nice and super well air-conditioned on the inside.

Celebrated the beauty's birthday... I'd had delivery & loved it but never visited so I was looking forward to it. There were 7 of us. I didn't get pics of everything but there were no complaints. The food was just as good in person, savory, spicy, herbaceous, just really, really good. The crispy duck isn't served as advertised. Flavorful yes, crispy No. Chill atmosphere & good service! #GoTaste&See

Curry Noodles, a specialty of Northern Thailand

Koon Thai Kitchen is a neighborhood favorite that we have enjoyed for many years. We prefer to dine in ... and usually have enough for leftovers. They seem to do a brisk takeout business. During Covid they were a lifesaver for us. We didn't use Doorsdash as they delivered directly. Good people; good food!

I like this restaurant. Nicely decorated, clean and bright. My second time here for dinner. The servers are friendly and I believe it was the owner that stopped by my table to ask if I was happy. Good food. I also enjoy the Thai beer. I'm adding Koon Thai to my favorite restaurants.

Curry and soup were good. The rest was terrible but we were starving

Came here wanting to support because times are tough for small businesses. They were completely empty during what should be dinner rush. The food wasn't authentic and a few of the dishes were too salty and tasted awful which was a disappointment. The service was terrible. When I started to mirror her behavior she took her phone out and started recording our family eat. Which is what led me to write a review. You've got to be so out of touch with reality, to treat a family that just ordered 150 worth of food so poorly. Especially when we came with respect and support. She gossiped about us in the back so loud just to make sure we could hear her. Why in the world would you treat a family with kids this way? Hackling the entire time we were eating. Her issue with us started when she brought the sticky rice out and I was shocked at how very little they gave for 3.50 each. It was half the size of my husbands palm. So for our family of 4 to have just a few bites of rice, we had to spend well over $15.00 with tax. That's ISNANE!! This is not a Michelin star restaurant , and they can't be overcharging customers. This was the first time ever we've been scammed that hard. No wonder why they dont advertise photos of their sticky rice. No one would dare buy it. Once the owner (who I'm assuming was the cook in the back who was also partaking in the gossip) realized I've had enough and started to take photos of their very empty restaurant, his smile left his face and he snapped back into reality. They then offered to eat the cost of the sticky rice. Word of advice: DO NOT ORDER THEIR STICKY RICE. Just order their bowl of steam rice. Would definitely not come here again. That was a lot to deal with.

The service was outstanding! Our host was kind and attentive. He gave us recommendations and was very friendly. The food was delicious! We ordered the basil noodles which tasted homemade and unlike other Thai restaurants. We also ordered the duck ginger with a side of white rice. Delicious! Ambiance was calming and clean. It was our first time and if we come back i. Town, we will comeback.

Amazing food ! We tried spring roll shrimp and wontons ! We loved it Service and ambiance is excellent

Every dish was delicious. The food was made upon ordering so the dishes were fresh and the seasonings were perfect! I ordered sticky rice to go with the DELICIOUS stir fried eggplant and sautéed pork, but next time I will just order regular rice. The eggplant and pork were so good that I plan on ordering this dish again the next time we eat there. . The Pad Thai, the Fried Rice and Peanut Sauce Medley ( Yellow Curry with Chicken and Broccoli) not only looked good, but each were distinctly delicious! The desserts we ordered were the coconut rice either topped with mangoes or coconut ice cream. We loved them! This place certainly will become our go-to restaurant.

We came on a weekday when it wasn't so busy and got our food very quickly. My favorite was the Cashew Nut with tofu. It almost tastes like a vegetarian version of General Tsao's chicken from a Chinese restaurant. But none the less it was very tasty. The crispy cheese wontons were freshly crisp and cream cheesey in the inside. Lots of seating! Kind and attentive servers, too. Would definitely come again and try the rest of their menu!

As far as service, I came in around 1pm on a Wednesday and received my meal in less than 10 minutes! I was pleasantly surprised and joyful given I was starving. If you come in on the weekends where it's a bit busier, long times will be longer as expected. Our server whom I didn't get to catch the name of, was kind and checked in with us about needing anything else just the right amount of times! When I asked for more lemon, another worker happily brought them over whereas in other locations, they might not do it with the best attitude. Their lemon pepper fries weren't my favorite as I've had better but still tasty and worth satisfying an intense craving for them. Can't wait to come back!

4 Stars! If you've…read moreread my other reviews, I'm pretty much a stickler for a clean restaurant. This one didn't pass the test. I'm basing this on my second time here because the first time I was sat at a table, not a booth. We were out for the morning, and decided to come here for lunch before having to take my son to the airport. I had come before and loved the sauce. We got there as they opened and were the first ones seated. They tried to sit us at a booth, but it was dirty, so we moved to the next one, still dirty, but we sat down anyway because it was cleaner than the first. The first table - the table itself was dirty, and the back of the booths had sauce and oily handprints all over them. The second table, the table was cleaner, but the booth backs were dirty with sauce and oily handprints. I kept reminding myself not to sit all the way back. I used the bathroom to wash my hands but did not use the toilets. Bathroom could use a deeper clean. One thing is they have kind of weird decal thing on the wall by the bathroom which if you don't take the time to read, seems really in appropriate So due to the cleanliness, I'm marking it down a star. As for the food and service, excellent. I really didn't think I would find another place better than my go-to in Berkeley, Bag O Crab, but I did. I don't know what it is about their sauce but it's just a little bit better than Bag. I got their house sauce, mild. Next time I'll get medium because there was no spice at all. I am just used to other Cajun spots, I guess, and ordering a mild, only for it to be super spicy. I like that they stay true to the word mild, lol. Especially for those who can't handle heat. Everyone enjoyed their boils. My husband ordered the catfish and he said it was excellent. The only thing we didn't really care for was the garlic noodles. Bag has the trophy on that. I love that they bring you lemons, s&p in little containers, bibs, all utensils, etc. at the beginning. So you don't have to wave down staff to bring you that. The bucket for shells and the boils coming in trays, so nice! We will definitely be back. I just hope they clean the booths soon, lol.

My most recent visit fell far short of satisfactory and, indeed, posed a significant health risk…read moreby. My husband and I made a point of clearly communicating my severe nut allergy to our server. This critical information was reiterated on two subsequent occasions: first, when I opted for the salad after the tomato soup was unavailable, specifically noting the limited nut-free choices, and again, when my husband ordered the tiramisu cocktail. Given that we frequently share dishes, I inquired if the garnish on his drink contained nuts, prompting our server to verify with the bar and confirm its absence. We ordered the beef and lamb dumpling appetizer. The menu description for this item did not list any nut ingredients. Shortly after we began consuming the dish, my husband noted an unexpected crunchy texture. A query to another staff member, who then consulted our server, led to our server returning to our table and asking about my well-being. At this point, I was already experiencing a tingling sensation in my tongue, a clear indicator of an allergic reaction. When I directly asked if the dish contained nuts, our server confirmed the presence of pine nuts, responding with "I know, I'm sorry," when reminded of my previously stated allergy. This incident is profoundly disturbing. It highlights a critical lapse in the establishment's adherence to food safety protocols, specifically concerning allergen communication and staff training. The failure to accurately disclose all ingredients on your menu, coupled with the apparent disregard for my repeatedly communicated life-threatening allergy, is unacceptable and put my health, and potentially my life, at severe risk. My evening, which was intended to be a celebratory occasion, was instead marked by fear and distress. I expected a thorough investigation into this matter, a detailed explanation of the immediate and long-term steps the establishment planned to implement to rectify these deficiencies including improvements to the menu labeling practices, comprehensive and mandatory allergen awareness training for all staff, and a review of overall safety procedures to ensure such a dangerous oversight does not affect other patrons. Instead I got an email saying they would look into it and get back to me in a week. It's been almost 9 months.

Everybody in our party was happy. The portions are very generous, and people can very easily split an order and they don't mind if you do. If you are on a budget, this makes their 40 dollar price tag manageable. It's a little confusing because they have signs outside advertising $39.99 All You can Eat. I'm not sure how that works but we just ordered off the menu. The Caesar Salad was delicious and large enough for a family, about $13. They also have affordable drinks, like $5 shots. That'll be $15 in Walnut Creek. Also they have a loyal customer program where points get food. The service was also very personable and timely. The employees are friendly and they show something uncommon these days: enjoyment in their hospitality. It's tucked away at the end of the mall but not too hard to find it park. When we entered, we were greeted by an employee and were seated immediately, as some of our friends were already seated and waiting for us. We didn't get to do the AYCE because everyone at the table had to do AYCE. So we just did A la Carte. I ordered the CBT combo with 1lb of shrimp and 1/2lb of clams, medium spice, and signature combo flavor. As much as I wanted to like this place, their seafood boil was so bland, watery, and there was no garlic at all. Very disappointed! We also got the Fried Oysters with garlic fries; at least that one was decent. All of my friends also complained that theirs is also watery and bland. At the end, all I can taste is just a peppery flavor. That was my 1st meal of the day, and I still ate the whole thing since I was so hungry. Overall, I don't think I will come back. For someone who eats Seafood boil at least once a month, I don't think it's worth the money. Oh, and there was a kid who was soliciting at every table, and when we said we don't carry cash, he looked us dead in the eyes and left. I just thought that was weird.
