came here for dinner in a cold sunday night. glad to have been seated indoors. it's a cute date spot. the drink was cute but it was very sweet. would not order again. the crispy fish tacos were ok. the shrimp pizza is more like a flatbread. it was an interesting flavor and texture but also just ok. we got a chicken pasta to share as a main dish and it was nice and creamy. i didnt take a oicture because my phone ran out of battery, but the chicken was very tender. the spice was a little off for me, however. the dish was spicier than i expected, with lots of julienned green and yellow bell peppers. would i come back? yes. service was attentive, the place was nice and clean. would i order the same dishes? no. the next time i come back here, i'll try something else. read more

Spent a small portion of our anniversary with great service and delicious food. This is our second time at Kokomo only this time for our anniversary. The drinks are phenomenal, I do recommend the "Good vibez" as I am more of a tequila drinker but they all sound delicious. For our appetizer we had the wings which we did have last time, the only this difference this time around was the portion as it was way less than the previous time. We decided to try the seafood cakes and were not disappointed, they were like crab cakes just more flavorful and crispy. The entrees we chose were the jerk chicken and the curry shrimp, the chicken was very flavorful and tender. The curry shrimp was as you would expect but the coconut rice did take it up a notch. We did not order any dessert but we're pleasantly surprised with two glasses of champagne that we did not expect even though our reservation was booked under anniversary. I wonder why the overall aura of the individuals working feel so impersonal. no one checks in regularly with you, you have to interrupt them for attention and stress for someone to smile or interact with you. the attentiveness is off. the back waiters, actual owners, bartender Simone, and Alex with the cute face jewelz seem to be the most pleasant. 4 stars is for the food tasting and being prepared so phenomenally and me wanting to pour my zollas into a source of generational wealth for my people. My sister and I stumbled upon this Cool Chill Caribbean restaurant by mistake and So Happy We Did!!! We were on our way to a different place but found out it was closed. So we decided to go back to Kokomo to give it a try. Everything was Fabulous. The waiter was professional and friendly and gave a good recommendation for the Mango Punch. Strong and Sweet. Then we ordered the Chicken and Waffles and Plantain Pancakes .with a side of Mac&cheese . With every bite we kept saying how flavorful and Delicious everything was!! We went to Kokomo last night after it was suggested to us by a group of friends... while there were some good about it, unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. For starters, the decor and vibe is super trendy and cool. Lots of colors, lively music, great decor and theme. The hostess was sweet and attentive and gave a strong first impression. That is pretty much where the good news ended for us. We had a reservation for 4 people before at 6:45 the rush of dinner, so the restaurant was only partially full when we arrived, which seemed perfect for our needs. Upon being seated, we weren't greeted again for at least 10 minutes. Because we had a toddler with us, by that time, we were very much ready to get started so that we could get through dinner at a reasonable time to get him home. That was not to be the case. Our server (Jimmy T.) was kind but in the end, not very attentive nor helpful. We received little help with the menu, no mention of specials or Happy Hour, and instead just rushed into the order - which is somewhat okay because we were in the same mindset, except we were there in time to get Happy Hour drinks and that was not offered. We placed our entire order by 6:55, two of us using the Restaurant Week menu, and two not. Two of us had the "Blouse & Skirt" cocktails, which by the time we received them, were very watered down and not flavorful. Our appetizers did not arrive until 7:30... 35 minutes later and unacceptable for a crab cake and plantains during a slow period! Those dishes were, however, flavorful, but the plantains were not even warm by the time they arrived. The main courses came out right after our appetizers, which was a total surprise. The chicken and waffles were tasty, as were the lentil meatballs, but the jerk chicken was completely dry and hard to eat. I would have told the server, but we rarely saw him again until dessert, leaving our drinks and water glasses empty most of the time. Speaking of dessert, they didn't arrive until 8:30... taking nearly 30 minutes to arrive after we ordered them!! For Restaurant Week, the menu offers a choice of three ice cream flavors, multiple flavors of cheesecake, and bread pudding. We ordered the latter and black rum cheesecake, which we were then told they had zero flavors of cheesecake available. So she ordered one of the specialty ice creams - but when it arrived, it was just vanilla. Smh. We didn't get out of the restaurant until 8:45, but only because the service and food were massively delayed. All in all, it was a big letdown, and I did not want that to be the case. We will probably try again and see if it was just a fluke, because everyone deserves a second chance, and we are locals and love good food spots. Hoping to be shocked when we do! read more

My husband & I went for the 1st time...I was looking forward to the food. We ordered the seafood fritters, they were good. We then go the Red Snapper and Oxtails for myself. The food was good, cldve used more oxtails for the price $32...now the snapper had mkt price on the menu which is understandable, what we didn't know was that they wld serve a 2lb fish for 1 person. That thing was huge, my husband likes his fish on the smaller side. He was upset when he saw the size of the fish. He barely ate from it. He's jamaican and said the fish had no flavor. Last night was my fifth visit at Kokomo(third dining experience, first indoor dining experience). My boyfriend and I ordered appetizers and entrees as well as the rum raisin bread pudding. This is my second time trying the bread pudding and it was just as amazing as it was the first time I tried it. I came specifically for that dessert lol The restaurant was fairly warm. The seating we were given was on a swing of some sort. I would've preferred seating with back support but we made do. The seafood fritters were flavorful and the dipping sauce it came with was a bit spicy but I love spice. The Island Pasta was good but I think I should have stuck to their braised oxtails, calypso burger or jerk chicken. Those dishes were more flavorful. Our favorite drinks are the Mango Rum Punch & U Remind Me. Their drinks are decent if you're looking for something refreshing and not too strong. By far one of the few restaurants I've visited during this pandemic that serve decent drinks, not too strong but not weak either. Their service is amazing. Our server was very attentive. I went here on a Saturday night for a birthday dinner. Reservations were made specifically for indoor dining. When we got there the dining room was at capacity and we had to sit outside, next to snow in a tent with heaters that kept going out. I also slipped on said snow because the ground wasn't salted properly. How is a dining room at capacity when people make reservations? We definitely would've went elsewhere if we would've known this. Aside from that the service was horrible! Entrees came out before drinks and appetizers--that's serving 101! And the servers don't know how to pass plates or clear tables. The plantains were good, you can't mess that up. My experience with this place was a huge let down. We also ordered the rum cake and they were sold out so we asked for a refund. Well apparently they did not know how to issue a refund, how can you take someone's money and then say you don't know how to give it back? Very interesting. Despite the good food, I cannot in good conscience recommend Kokomo. Three weeks ago, without my approval and authorization, a server added an additional tip on top of the 18% gratuity that is already included. This is essentially theft, as it was done without my knowledge. The situation has still not been resolved, even after seemingly endless messages between myself and Kokomo's PR team. I have not received an apology from the FOH staff and not even the owners whom I have reached out to. This is mind-bogglingly poor customer service, a situation that could have easily and promptly been resolved. It is a matter of integrity and principles. It is concerning that the staff member who did this was likely not reprimanded. I sincerely hope that the entire Kokomo team, including Kev and Riri Graham, the owners, get educated on the value of customer service. It is not simply about responding to compliments and complaints. It is about going above and beyond to acknowledge your customers as human beings, not just dollar signs. read more

First they couldn't find my reservation but gave my friends and I a table which I was grateful for, the server was new and he did the best he could. The appetizers BANGING!!! Rum punch was good but that rasta pasta DISGUSTING and disrespectful to Caribbean heritage!! The dish had so taste at all even with salt and pepper it was horrible, the sauce tasted like they took water from the pasta water and incorporated it in. I really wanted to love this place as I have been wanting to go for over a year. Unfortunately it did not meet expectations. I went for brunch and ordered the following: Oxtail flatbread - it was good, provided a good amount of oxtail. The tomato sauce on the flatbread was okay but the amount of oxtail made up for it. Fish sandwich - not good, I've read reviews that it is very crispy, part of mine was soggy and the fish was lukewarm. The best part were the fries. Macaroni and cheese - horrible, shouldve been cooked longer. Swimming in cheese. Bread pudding - decent, I fortunately ended the meal on a good note. Over all this place is just okay. Dinner may be much better but I would not recommend for brunch. I however would like to note that hostess was very friendly and accommodating. read more

I checked out this spot with my friend who had been following their Instagram page for some time. The drinks are perfectly crafted and tastes exactly how it is described on the menu. The person answering the phone had no idea(don't you work here?) and had to put me on hold to ask.I heard medium spice for the jerk chicken to not much for the vegan and rasta pasta dishes. My date got a rasta with chicken. They decided to give him shrimp(we ordered through the site and its still wrong?). His nose was running and he started sweating. Way to spicy..he still ate it however sniffing away. I had the vegan rasta. I grew up on Caribbean food and it was a bit underseasoned and a bit spicy. I'm not as sensitive as my date so I was ok. Just visited this restaurant on Saturday for brunch and can I say just based off the ambiance I want to come back already! And believe it or not I dined outside! When I went inside the establishment to use the restroom, the décor alone BLEW ME AWAY! Now the menu, I had a hard time choosing because of all the delectable items.. and that was just brunch! They also have a dinner menu. The drink/cocktail menus I can say my first thought are very pricey but they're very well presented and taste amazing. The alcohol content and taste match very well. I had the Rude Gyal and my friend had the Tropical G & T. For a normal gin & tonic (which is my go to drink) she said it was strong but a perfect paring for our order. For our appetizer, we ordered the chicken rasta pasta flat bread. It was delicious. It can actually be ordered as an entree if not shared between two people. Even with this I was only able to finish half my entree. Although I had trouble choosing between all the other delectable items on the brunch menu, I went with the Jerkmi Burger. It was was SO JUICY; cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles and the CHICKEN WAS WELL SEASONED. Great restaurant by the water in Williamsburg! The food and drinks are excellent, and the environment/decor is really fun. I enjoyed their bottomless brunch that's done on Fridays. They bring you a bottle of champagne and a carafe of orange juice so you can make your own mimosas. One thing that could improve though is the transparency about cost. The price to do bottomless isn't listed on their website or social media. I messaged asking about it but didn't hear back, so I didn't find out until I showed up one Friday ($55). The price isn't listed on their dining menu when you get there either, and the waitress did not mention that certain dishes, like the one I got, would cost an extra $10 on top of the bottomless brunch cost. It would be beneficial to mention all this somewhere so customers aren't surprised when they get the bill at the end. However, again, the food is excellent and it's definitely worth a visit! I had the Caribbean Spiced Lamb which tasted amazing and was cooked perfectly. They also bump the music during brunch so it's a very lively and enjoyable environment. I ordered the curry lentils, jackfruit tacos, and the "We Limin'" cocktail. Perfection. So in love with this place.
