She made excellent drink recommendations and really elevated the experience. The music playlist was also on point, great vibes overall for hanging out and grabbing cocktails. Unfortunately, the food just didn't hit for us. The flavors didn't really mesh well. We tried the shrimp and grits, Steak & Eggs , and Frid Chix sandwich ...definitely different, but it just didn't taste good. Overall, the food was a letdown. I engaged Sally's to cater my wife's birthday party. We ordered Tune Poke Nachos, Oxtail Short Rib Dumplings and marinated cucumbers for 30 people. We had requested quotes from a few restaurants for our Jamaican-Asian fusion menu to various responses. One of the owners, Johnny, was very communicative and willing to accommodate customizations to their catering menu, unlike others we encountered. He was even willing to send the food by Uber since they didn't have a dedicated delivery person who could manage it. Ultimately, he made us feel taken care of and set our minds at ease about coming through for us on the event day. Everything was delicious and looked amazing! We got compliments all around for the food. What started out as a big unknown became one of the sterling aspects of the event. Our waitress's name was Hannah, and she is the best. She gave us amazing service and clearly explained all of the food options. Everything our group ordered was flavorful and delicious. All of the food was fresh. When each dish arrived at the table, it was piping hot. The drinks were strong in the best way possible. Inside the restaurant, it was lively and fun. A bit confusing, but the manager handled it nicely and let us sit a few minutes early after we waited nearby in the neighborhood. But we were super hungry after traveling such a long way. There were so many things I loved about this spot! First, the server. Californian bartender who was super social & personable. Speedily took our orders & served drinks despite food taking a while to come out. Introduced us to other regulars without being pushy. Made me want to stay and order more drinks, which I did! After the second Girls dem Sugar I should've wrapped it up, but another & shots came my way so this review can be biased. Thank everyone that I ordered tostones (which were perfect with the lime sauce), lamb wontons (which were in a spicy sauce) & guac. The tostones and lamb were really filling so I couldnt eat more but I really got the Carib-Asian vibe. The only thing that couldve been better was the space. Brooklyn Summers! Came to Sally's as a friend hosted a Birthday there. It's a cute venue ik the neighborhood and I believe it's free to host an event there. We were in a section inside and some tables . There were tables outside as well. My intention was to come and get drinks and bites. However service was not the best and left a lot to be desired. We were initially sitting at the bar in front of the bartender who took a bit to acknowledge us. Then I was told by other guests that there were signature drinks the Birthday girl had. So when I finally could ordered one , the watermelon spritz. It was refreshing but wasn't my favorite.. we were then told we had to clear the front of the bar area and go to the corner so that other patrons could order and sit. I kid you not, we took up majority of the restuarant. It was weird to do. We moved and then the bartender never came our way to get more drinks for over 30 minutes. So we knew ordering food was not happening. I would give it another try maybe . I have heard its a cool place and yesterdays service wasnt the normal, the staff just wasn't a vibe. read more

I've been here twice, both times the wait time was long and I think I had the same exact waitress who seemed to be only staff member working. The ramen dish I had the first time was good - although I wasn't sober so id take it with a grain of salt. But the second time was unacceptable. After the long wait I got some unclean, gritty, tasteless mussels in sauce that I couldn't finish eating out of fear out of destroying my stomach. I couldn't even really place a drink order to gaslight myself. This place tastes like understaffed. It's a shame because the concept is fun and good in theory, but lacking in execution. read more

I ordered the jerk chicken hash, which had a mild kick, but I've had better jerk chicken elsewhere. Unfortunately, the service was very slow--it took quite a while to get anyone's attention for ordering or drink refills. So maybe getting the tacos with something else. As far as the drinks I tried the Red Siren & found out instantly that I am NOT a mezcal woman! lol it's smoky flavor just doesn't sit well for me. So I ended up changing my drink twice and the bartender he was so kind and willing to change my drink until I had something I enjoyed. It's very cute inside with a modern tropical vibe. My friend & I both got the coffee cocktail. Let's just say, We got another. The food was the main event. I got the fish & grits which were heavenly. Loved the jerk sauce they use in it, perfect balance of sweet with a kick! My friend got the shrimp & grits & she said it was everything! She preferred it over the fish & grits because it was a less spicy alternative & because they have plenty of shrimp. We both thought the short rib oxtail dumplings were to die for. They are a must try. Service was great & the vibes of the crowd was great for us as well. We were more than full by the end, so the portions were much appreciated. WOW was this place good! I'm giving it a 4.5 because I personally didn't like the drinks but I LOVED the food here.. The oxtail dumplings were so juicy and flavorful, the Dan Dan noodles were great. I came on a Sunday for brunch with friends. We had to push our res time back and they were very accommodating. They did run out of some ingredients to make the drinks we wanted but wasn't a huge deal. The biggest down side was the service was a little chaotic. One server was training and all the servers checked in on us which sounds like it would be nice but someone came to take our order right after we ordered and asked if we needed the check after we already paid. As soon as you walk in, it's a vibe. You can tell they are being authentic to themselves in the decor. I got the bacon egg bao that had American cheese on it and everything seasoning on the bao. It said it was going to be scrabbled egg which was right but wasn't expecting the square egg. The overall taste was a pretty good hit. The bao brought the perfect amount of sweetness into every bite. I wanted to like this place a lot because I'd heard a lot about it but I really wasn't impressed. My food was overly seasoned and just plain spicy to a point of being unbearable. I don't recall seeing a spice warning when I ordered it. It seemed to be a skeleton crew even on a Saturday night which I thought was odd, but they were very nice. The music was good but I don't think I'd return. The drinks were very strong so if I went back to that side of Brooklyn, I would stick to the bar and not order food. Sorry. Sally's, too, had a wait, so they offered us the bar, but they were able to move us to a table after a no-show, which was great. The bartender recommended good stuff and we had delicious run-based cocktails with uncommon and tasty rum. The wait service was warm and pleasant, and the music was banging. I had the fish and grits and it was plate-licking good (I did't actually lick the plate, but I could have!) Overall it was a great brunch: nice service, great food, cool vibes.
