I wanted to like this place a lot because I'd heard a lot about it but I really wasn't impressed. My food was overly seasoned and just plain spicy to a point of being unbearable. I don't recall seeing a spice warning when I ordered it. It seemed to be a skeleton crew even on a Saturday night which I thought was odd, but they were very nice. The music was good but I don't think I'd return. The drinks were very strong so if I went back to that side of Brooklyn, I would stick to the bar and not order food. Sorry. This is near my friend's place and had a good vibe so we decided to try this place for dinner. Fusion food can be hit or miss. Looking at their menu, it looked promising but after getting our food, it was a bit disappointing. The drinks were fun, I can't remember what I got but I enjoyed it. For food, we got cold peanut punch noodles - eh not impressed. lacks flavor yu choy - I love me some veggies and I'd definitely eat this again oxtail and rib dumplings - not wowed by it. About two weeks ago, I happened to be at an event next door to Sally's. Yes, the event had food (ssshhhhhh), but thank goodness that Sally's was next door! I ordered three different appetizers and must say that they made us so happy... lots of "umm, umm, ummmmm." Sexy appetizers for sure LOL!!!! The dumplings (both short rib/oxtail and shrimp mojo) were well-seasoned, with a little kick, and wonderful. The other appetizer we shared were the curry crab rangoon, which was spicy happiness wrapped up with love. One of the best dining experiences I've had in NY. We noticed this neighborhood spot recently reopened so we wanted to come give it a try! There's outdoor dining as well as socially distanced indoor seating. Indoor: the lighting was warm and complimented with candles and the music was such a vibe. When you sit they ask for you to look over their new restaurant dining policies and sign off that you understand and will abide by them which is great. Menu: The menu suggests an Asian-carribean fusion of food and with everything we ordered it was delightfully evident. Food: guacamole was delicious! It comes with wonton chips which are light and flaky. I ordered the vegetable Curry and the coconut curry was so flavorful without being overpowering- I wanted to lick the bowl it was so good. The pork fried rice came with pickled vegetables that added a nice crisp sweetness to the dish and the coconut made it such a comfort dish. Service: amazing! We sat immediately, we ordered a couple of minutes later, our appetizer came out 5 minutes after that and our meals less than 5 minutes after that. It was all hot and delicious and the staff is very nice and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend it! Came here for a weekday dinner, nice day for outdoor dining. Really good cocktails, one of them was blue with some rums in it. We got the tostones with a nice ranchy garlic dip and oxtail gyoza - both good. Although we were skeptical, we tried the miso mushroom curry ramen, was pleasantly surprised. I want to first apologize for not have it any pictures of our food. I forgot when we began and then it was way too late. We went to Sally's during a birthday food tour of where my mom grew up. Sally's is right up the block so we wanted to try it. We are SO glad we did. The Inside is very cute with an old fashioned looking bar and a bunch of small tables and window counter seating. The staff was fantastic. Everyone was incredibly sweet. We ordered 3 small plates to share and I got a mango beer, which was very nice. We had the Jerk Veggie Dumplings, Peanut Punch Noodles and Jerk Barbecue Park Ribs. WOW is all I can say. The dumplings were the low point and they were very tasty while maybe a tiny bit doughy. The noodles were full of peanut flavor and cooked perfectly. Delicious. Then the ribs. We all agreed that these might be some of the best ribs we have ever had and we love ribs. The plate had 2 large ribs slathered in a delicious tangy jerk sauce. The ribs themselves tasted like they were slow cooked and then flash fried. They had a wonderful crispy crunch on the outside and were super juicy on the inside. This is reason enough to come to the neighborhood from wherever you live. When we left, the staff all said Happy Birthday to my mom which ended the stop on an extra high note. Thank you for a fantastic experience! read more

Dined on a Saturday before a night out. The good: food is delicious, great cocktail options, very good looking crowd, music was a vibe. The bad: I had an entire ramekin/bowl of some spicy soy sauce based dip spilled on me. From above. All down the right side of my head. Into my eye. Covered most of my hair. All over my clothes. Did I mention we were going out after? No one really paid attention or noticed I was almost yelling in pain until my friend and some other patrons flagged someone down. The server who spilled never apologized. I watched the manager talk to him (while trying to clean myself off w a stack of cocktail napkins) and heard him say "what do you want me to do about it?!" I finally got a clean bar towel from another server then had to wait in line (!!!) for the bathroom to rinse off as much as possible in the sink. I asked for another towel but was never given one. The customer service is lacking. I'm still shocked I didn't get an apology... I understand the accidents happen (the server was bumped by someone else and spilled while I was sitting) but holy shit, it really ruined the night. read more

Went here the other day when so many other Brooklyn eateries were booked up with brunch reservations. Sally's, too, had a wait, so they offered us the bar, but they were able to move us to a table after a no-show, which was great. The bartender recommended good stuff and we had delicious run-based cocktails with uncommon and tasty rum. The wait service was warm and pleasant, and the music was banging. I had the fish and grits and it was plate-licking good (I did't actually lick the plate, but I could have!) Overall it was a great brunch: nice service, great food, cool vibes. I understand the concept of this restaurant and really wanted to love it but each dish was either a hit or miss. To start- the ambiance of this restaurant is very chic and has a gorgeous bar with cute lighting throughout. We sat outside and there was plenty of seating out there (they are located on a corner so they have sidewalk space not just the street). I got the moonracket drink which was light and refreshing while my friend tried this jalapeño drink she hated & then a soursop drink she also didn't like. We started with the veggie dumplings which I enjoyed and my friend got the oxtail dumplings which she felt was a miss. In her opinion the oxtail and dumpling mix wasn't working. I then ordered the mushroom buns but they somehow accidentally gave me the pork ones which I basically puked out the minute I took a bite. As a vegetarian this was a big mistake in my book and while they did give me a free drink as an apology I was still grossed out. My friend got the short rib ramen and didn't like that either. This spot is so fun! The drinks are delicious, the outdoor space is really cute, and the food is good! The dumplings are a must, and you really should to get at least one of the cocktails. They are sweet like any tiki drink, but they're well balanced. The service is good, but a little slow (maybe a pared down staff?), but it's covid, so I'm not complaining. (Sally's is also very covid compliant so you'll feel safe here! They take temperatures and have forms that customers fill out for contact tracing.) read more

This place is so special! It's a great spot that's perfect for a date, happy hour, or a dinner before a night of dancing. The music is always bopping and the ambiance is just fun and free!! The restaurant itself is also aesthetically pleasing and well decorated. The drinks here are phenomenal. A little bit on the sweeter side, so if that's not your vibe, they still have an open bar! The food is also incredible. A lot of the dishes are well textured and packed with flavor. I went for drinks and a light bite with my friend. I got the oxtail dumplings, tuna tostada, and the pulled pork taco wontons. All were delicious, but the oxtail dumplings were definitely my favorite. Next time I come, I'm going to bring a few friends and go family style so I can try more food. The one thing is - this place is definitely not cheap. Let me start with the good, the employees are really nice and probably the saving grace for this particular visit. However, I am actually a little disappointed with this place and I'll tell you why 1) the jerk on the jerk fish was extremely salty, I had to scrape the sauce off and that still didn't really help. It's giving salt headache 2) I ordered a drink and the drink was NOT filled to the top and mostly made of crushed iced which quickly turned into a watered down drink. Taste like water, mezcal and some sort of sweetener. I mean this drink tastes really REALLY bad 3) they added an automatic 20% gratuity when it was just me and my homegirl (I've only had gratuity added when it was 6 or more), I didn't realize that was added which is my bad and so I gave an additional 20%... which means, I ended up giving a 40% gratuity for a poor experience. You pick a table, head inside with your mask on to order and voila they bring out your order to you via table number. The food is Asian Caribbean fusion with curry crab rangoon & oxtail dumplings on the menu. They also offer a veggie curry plate with rice if your looking to skip the meat. While the curry crab was tasty, I did not taste much crab if any at all. Also questioned if it was imitation crab. Drinks pretty much range from 12-20$ which is a bit pricey on the beer end. The servers are always so nice but SO chaotic. Takes forever to get a bill, order, etc. I think the food is good but overpriced and small for what you get. The bao in particular are really tasty, any of the fried rice is honestly a miss. Drinks are okay, a bit sweet for me in the cocktail category and I've had beers that the taps were definitely flat.
