"Neighborhood Bar" Is a VERY Loose Description We stopped by Milly's Neighborhood Bar, which despite the name is anything but your typical neighborhood bar. If you're expecting Cheers where everybody knows your name, this is NOT that. Milly's is hella chic and vibey, with a cool DJ booth, a beautiful bar, and creative cocktails. I stuck with Paper Planes for the night, and they were delicious! I initially thought about switching it up and wasn't quite sure what I wanted, but the bartender was super patient, talked through a few options with me, and offered suggestions without rushing me. Ultimately, I decided not to fix what wasn't broken and went right back to my Paper Plane. And can we talk about the PRICE?! $15 for a well-made Paper Plane in Brooklyn, NY?! In this economy?! I pay more than that in Washington, DC, which is wild because I remember when NYC was ALWAYS noticeably more expensive. And the bartender wasn't stingy with the liquor either -- that was a strong pour! The crowd at the beginning of the night was BEAUTIFUL. Mature Black millennials dancing, vibing, and looking good in our chill-but-chic Saturday night fits. The DJ had us moving, everyone was having a good time, and the energy was exactly what I wanted. But as the night got later...gentrification showed her tail. The crowd gradually shifted to a much younger Gen Z crew, and the vibe changed with it. People became noticeably rowdier, pushing and bogarting their way through the crowd to get to the bar without so much as an "excuse me." After being bumped and pushed past one too many times, I had enough and decided that was my cue to call it a night. Despite the late-night crowd shift, I really enjoyed Milly's overall. We danced, laughed, had great drinks, and vibed with our friends. Between the DJ, chic atmosphere, friendly bartender, strong pours, and surprisingly reasonable cocktail prices, I'd definitely come back -- I'd just make it an earlier-in-the-night stop before the crowd starts crowding. read more

The service was 10/10. I went with my good friend and we had a time. We went on a Friday night and the Vibez were there. We had the branzino and it was so delish and flavorful. Such a cute bar. It was packed when we arrived at 11 pm but emptied out around 12:30 so we had room to move around. It was a nice mixed crowd of mature but fun individuals. The bar was easy to navigate and the drinks were affordable. I definitely recommend and will be back read more

If want vibes and cocktails...you got it here! Stepped out with some friends and wanted to stay in BK. On a suggestion we came here and I wasn't disappointed. First...Natasha! Bartender extraordinaire...made the best balanced Bees Knees and Last Word cocktails I've ever had. That's saying a lot b/c I stay with a gin cocktail...lol. She was fast, personable and kind. Cole, the other bartender was dope too. I always say have great bartenders, you'll have repeat customers who will come spend their tubmans (dollars y'all lol). They had a dj Saturday night too. Mr. Rick Gonzalez...IYKYK. Actor and now I know, dope DJ. This old lady was happy...happier if heard some Lutha or Chaka, but I digress. This spot is low key vibezzz. It's beautiful decor, friendly staff (shouts to Don!), hip Brooklynites, fancy dranksss and a celebrity owner! Even though the combination of the 5 it can feel kinda pretentious and foo foo and it wasn't! The burger WAS $25 but hey it was cooked at the perfect temperature AND ya got fries! Came here for a girls night out for drinks. The decor , ambiance and aesthetic of the bar is very nice. As soon as you walk in on the left hand side is a very nice set up for djs to play music. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and didn't have to wait no more than 7-10 minutes for a table. We started off with their drinks, I had the pineapple riddim , it was a solid 10/10, I don't remember the names of the other 2 drinks my friends ordered but I tasted theirs and they were all SO GOOD!! kudos to the bartenders that night. We then got appetizers and that's when we knew we'd be returning back to this establishment. The food is so fresh, creative and just so damn delicious! After seeing some social media buzz about Milly's, I finally had the chance to check it out for myself. The first thing I have to say is that the space is beautifully designed. I really enjoyed just looking at the interior. It's such an inviting space and you can tell that a lot of thought went into it. We stopped by around 4pm on a Sunday, about 2 hours into service. Mainly out for some beverages, I started with the Pineapple Riddim. It's a fun tequila drink that was fitting for the hot weather (and my wishes to be someplace tropical). My next cocktail was the Tuxedo #2, a spirit-forward gin cocktail with absinthe. This is definitely a "finisher" kind of drink, but I really enjoyed it as my final cocktail of the outing. We ordered one small plate to share, the tuna tartare, and it was phenomenal. The coconut milk dressing poured over was bright and refreshing. The fish was a nice fatty tuna and very fresh. Dried plantain chips are served with it, and you'll use the chips to get up every last bit of sauce. We've already agreed to try the shrimp toast and chopped cheese egg rolls on a future visit. The larger menu includes a burger for $25, branzino, and steak frites. I think Milly's has a solid future in BedStuy and I'm looking forward to exploring more of what the team here has to offer. read more

I've seen this bar while driving and was curious what it would be like. Finally had the chance to check it out and was a bit disappointed. I'll start with the food, which was my biggest issue. I ordered the steak frites and asked for it to be medium, but it arrived rare - to the point that my friend even pointed it out and said it looked like it wasn't cooked so I had to ask them to cook it some more. When I asked the server, he looked very confused by my question, but it was loud (even though it was a weekday and they just opened). They brought it back and the meat was very tough and not tender and probably one of the worst steak frites I've had in the city. The french fries were good and I should mention that they had gluten-free options on their menu. In terms of the service, the bartender was friendly, but they were a bit slammed so the service was your standard, nothing above and beyond. It actually took a while for me to get my second glass of wine. The actual bar is very well designed, and has great lighting, a DJ booth, bar seating (with bag hooks), table top seating, and a clean bathroom. If I went back again, it would be just for the drinks. read more

What a great addition to the neighborhood! We went on a Thursday night, it was easy to get a table. The staff are warm and friendly without being overbearing. The cocktails are top notch. And the food was fantastic! We had the shrimp toast (delicious with roe on top really being out of this world), the tuna tartare with a lovely flavorful sauce, and the branzino which was cooked perfectly. This bar was such a great experience. The host was extremely friendly and accommodating. You cannot make a reservation here but he did his absolute best to seat us. We ordered appetizers and drinks. Everything was delicious. We got the chopped cheese egg rolls which was our favorite, the fries were delicious and fresh, and the corn fritters were a semi sweet tasty treat.
