Came here after stopping by Sweet Maple and seeing their long line. This spot menu is somewhat identical to Sweet Maple. So.. my wife and I decided it will do for our 10th Anniversary breakfast. We joined the waitlist found directly outside of the entrance. It took less than 5 mins to wait.. we were seated. The place is cute and quaint. I love the host(ess) that sat us because the walk they had was to die for!! Or waiter Ae (nickname he gave us) was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. He helped us make some great food choices. All good came out fully cooked and hot. I had the Ricotta pancakes meal and my wife enjoyed the omelet meal (2nd omelet from the bottom). We both loved everything. My wife never had matcha tea, so i ordered her the Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte. She throughly enjoyed that. I had the Perfect Hot Chocolate with DAIRY FREE whip cream (Yes, they have this. I haven't had whip cream in years because I'm lactose-free. It was so so so good lol. I did not need to add anything. This place welcomes all! Parking is difficult tho, but it is well worth the time and wait.

I went here on a weekend with my younger sister and my fiancé. It's located in SF's Castro district, which was quiet on a Saturday morning. We had arrived there around 10am and the restaurant looked almost full. We put our names on the wait list and were seated a few minutes after in the corner of the establishment. The waiter handed us some menus and gave us some water. They had a lot of Asian-American fusion breakfasts and my fiancé ordered a Ribeye Omurice while I got a Big Haas. We also got a black sesame latte. Our omelettes came out after ten or so minutes and they were quite different from each other. My fiancé's omelettes was incredibly soft and fluffy. He compared the texture of it to a cloud. It was also a little sweet, while the omelette included in the Big Haas was more of a classic omelette with some mushrooms and vegetables inside and creamy avocado to top it off. Both dishes included some honey-roasted veggies which were scrumptious and some toasted bread with a spread of garlic butter on top. The black sesame latte was nice and nutty, but I wish the sesame flavor was a bit stronger. It also came out incredibly hot and beautifully presented with a sprinkle of black sesame seeds, some flowers, and latte art. The prices here are a little high but the portions are incredibly massive. My sister and I ended up taking our leftovers back with us.

Cute spot, a block below and a block over from the busiest corner of the Castro. Popular with all kinds of folks and a wait to match. Check in on Yelp when you arrive to secure your place in line and choose from inside, outside, or first available. I think there's about an equal amount of seats in and out. Being from Hawaii and here in the city during record low July temps (Why was SF in the 50s in July???) we only chose indoor seating. The wait was not long and though we were 15th in line, we only waited 20 minutes. The hosts are smart and efficient about fitting everyone in. Note that parties are not seated until everyone is present. The hosts enforced this consistently but also with kindness despite all kinds of entertaining stories that I overheard -- someone was parking, someone went to buy wine, someone's friend was walking and just 2 minutes away, someone's Uber got lost. I'm sure they've heard it all. Though we were seated quickly, the food was not super fast on a busy Sunday at 1230pm. Come here for the good coffee with refills and great conversation with your friends. Our food was good, though my friend was craving sweet and the menu definitely leans savory. My Overnight Pork Sandwich was delicious. I might describe it as an Asian pulled pork sandwich with fresh arugula and what I think was a tarragon (?) aioli. It also had some sort of SPICY sauce on it though, which was not mentioned anywhere on the menu, and I'm a bit of a heat wimp. I was sweating the whole time I was eating, though I'm sure many other people might not have even noticed. It was too delicious to stop eating though I would not personally order the sandwich again. Minus 1 star for the unwanted spice. :( Surprise spice aside, KS is a fun spot with good food that I'd come back to again.

You can't go wrong with trying a flight of various flavors of Millionaire's bacon for the first time. It's worth the experience for your first time. Brunch portions are quite generous with plenty of crisp potatoes and eggs. Service was surprisingly pretty quick for a weekend morning and always good to make a reservation in advance. There's warm outdoor seating with heaters as well. Overall casual yummy brunch spot worth trying.

Stopped by Kitchen Story on a cold, rainy day and was pleasantly surprised to be seated in under five minutes. They do have an online waitlist, which is absolutely worth using before driving over. I can easily imagine busier days where the wait gets out of hand, and this will save you time and frustration. The space itself feels very cozy and familiar, almost like an at-home traditional diner, tucked right near the Castro. Nothing flashy or groundbreaking, but comfortable and very San Francisco brunch-core. Where this place really shines is the service. The wait staff was excellent and attentive throughout our meal. Water was refilled quickly, and it was always easy to get someone's attention without feeling ignored or rushed. That alone made the experience feel relaxed and pleasant. Food-wise, we ordered the bacon flight and pancakes. The bacon was fun to try, but overall the food landed in the "meh" category for me. Not bad, not amazing, just standard brunch fare that you can find at plenty of other spots around the Bay Area. Portions were solid, but for what you get, the prices felt a bit high. Personally, I would not go out of my way to return. There are several brunch places around the Bay that offer very similar menus and vibes under different names. That said, if the wait is short and you are willing to splurge a bit, it is not a bad experience by any means. Just do not expect anything particularly memorable on the food front.

Absolutely worth the drive to San Francisco! It gets incredibly busy, but we timed it perfectly--arriving just before noon and walking right in. The space is warm and inviting, with attentive service that made us feel right at home. Parking is a bit tight since it's just outside the Castro, so plan for a few extra minutes to find a spot. Every dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation: 1. Spicy Burger Featuring Spicy BBQ Kurobuta pork belly, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, cherry peppers, peppery arugula, and sharp cheddar. The sweet-savory interplay was superb, though I wouldn't have minded an extra kick of heat! 2. Frisco Benedict House-made chicken-mango sausage, vibrant cherry peppers, creamy avocado, all crowned with a bright Meyer lemon hollandaise. The citrusy tang elevated each bite. 3. Mom's Benedict Savory pork-and-wine sausage drenched in that same luscious Meyer lemon hollandaise--comfort food at its finest. 4. Millionaire Bloody Mary Arguably one of the best I've ever tasted: a perfectly balanced mix with a smoky, thick-cut bacon garnish that's utterly phenomenal. 5. Raspberry Lemonade Every bite showcased top-tier ingredients and thoughtful flavor layering. I can't wait to return and indulge again!

Food was a hit and the portions are big , it was a good surprise by my husband Jason . Forgot to take the photo of the Millionaire Bacon we ate it all . I don't even like Bacon , tried few bites and it was AWESOME!! Omurice dish was the star of the dish for us. Will recommend and try other dishes if I am in the area . Service was better than some places we tried and kudos to MGT team for making sure they hire the right personality as service crew. Notice the bathroom lines were long , the place is a hit for young professionals in the area . Overall a positive experience for my husband and I .

I am making way around to all the brunch places in SF and this is definitely a top contender. Went on a Sunday morning for a party of 6 and was seated almost immediately. The staff was quick, nice, and helpful and the inside of the restaurant was lively. As for the food. Beautifully plated, all with some fruit. The french toast was my delicious. The outside was fried, but the inside was still moist because of the mascarpone. The eggs benedict had the perfect sauce and the potatoes on the side had great seasoning. Can't stop thinking about my brunch here and can't wait to try it again!

    Paige G.

Very solid brunch spot. I feel like the city lacks great breakfast besides bakeries. However, this place was so yummy!! It tasted very fresh and high quality with still being savory and giving a casual breakfast vibe. Did not have to wait too long for seating, staff were friendly, and they had solid coffee too. 100% worth a try!

Asian inspired brunch! Dishes: 1) Big Hass: the kimchi pico de gallo is so good. Everything felt fresh. 2) Francisco omelette: it's ok but it's just a regular omelette 3) matcha latte: they add sweetener to it though Logistic: -free, street parking -accepts cc -plenty of indoor and outdoor seating -dog friendly!

I thought that this restaurant would be busy during a Sunday brunch time, but it was not too crowded when my friend and I arrived here around 10:30AM. We were seated immediately, and there were a couple of waiters that came by within the first three minutes fo us sitting down, asking for our order when we were not ready yet. The wooden tables around the restaurant gave for a nice aesthetic. I ordered their two eggs and port wine sausage that came with potatoes and bread. The presentation of the food was aesthetic and well portioned. Almost half of my meal became leftovers. The scrambled eggs unfortunately did not sit too well in my stomach, but the sausage and potatoes were tasty. While my friend and I were around 10 minutes into eating, a waiter came to ask if we wanted to-go boxes. Our table was also cleared while we were still sitting there and paying the bill. While we felt rushed throughout our whole brunch, the food itself is decent, and I would be willing to try this place another time.

One of my favorite brunch spots! The wait can be long but there's stores nearby to browse I love getting their ricotta toast to share for the table. Their eggs Benedict's are always good but this time I tried their blt. The bacon is so flavorful! I only wish the bread was a little crunchier. The fries are perfect - a great mix of crispy and soft potato Good service and cute interior! Definitely a brunch spot to check out in SF

I've only been to the Kitchen Story in Oakland/Berkeley, and I never knew that SF had one too. I can't remember if the menus are the same, however they do have the millionaire's bacon. Just like the East Bay location, this one is just as busy and popping. The food quality is fantastic, and the drinks are fun. The drink I enjoyed the most was the black sesame. It came out looking unique, and the taste was sort of like a butter beer from universal studios. The ribeye omurice was decent. I expected slices of ribeye rather than ground ribeye. The New England burger was incredible. It had hints of sweetness in the savoriness of the bacon and cheese. I enjoyed the potato crisps as well on the side. It was extremely flavorable. I liked that the checks came out on books. They really went with a book cafe theme. It was very charming. The lines went quickly and the food came out fast as well. Loved it here!

Ask the Community - Kitchen Story

Wouldn't charging a vomit fee confirm with a paper trail that they are over serving? How much does it cost to have the cops look the other way exactly?

My issue is that they're trying to solve a problem that they're unintentionally responsible for. An inebriated person loses the ability to think rationally. They won't know what their limits are. If Kitchen Story is that appalled by people tossing…

Do they still offer bottomless mimosas?

I was here not too long ago and they still offered bottomless mimosas

Is there an outside dinning option?

Yes but the guy told me it's usually reserved for people without reservations

Is the Yelp Waitlist available in the app on the weekends?

No, you'll have to join the waitlist when you arrive at the restaurant. There's a tablet at the front door.

Will you open Christmas Day? It's a long shot I know.

    Are there any vegan options?

Honestly, there's not a whole lot of vegan options, but I would think they can make adjustments to include your preferences. If you prefer separate prep for your meal, however, I do not know if their preparation for those adjustments would occur.

Are you dog friendly in your outdoor seating?

They seemed to be which was a surprise to me. I saw a couple parties with their pooches seated at the outdoor seating. However, we experienced one of their servers to be a little ratchety, so beware.

Do you have bottomless mimosas for weekend brunch?

Yes they do! 60 minute limit and $22 per person. Note: they close at 2:30 so make sure to start your bottomless before 1:30. If you come after, they will cut you off at 2:30.

Does Kitchen Story provide physical barriers / temporary walls between outdoor tables to make it safer for covid-19?

Under info it states "Vegan options" if so, what is offered? *looked at pics of the menu, don't see anything*

You can review pictures of the menu on Yelp.

    Do you have wifi?

    No WiFi

    Do you open on thanksgiving?

Yes but, you have to bring a live turkey to dine with you. They provide bird seed.

What time do they offer breakfast until?

I'm not sure but when I visited it was 1pm and breakfast was still being served.

    Is there AC?

Sorry I do not know if their ac in this restruant but they do have a out door seating area.

Does anyone know if weekdays are less busy or less of a wait time? What about Sunday's?

If you go right when they open there won't be a wait; we arrived like 10min after and sat right down.

How long is the brunch wait for a large party about 12) on a Saturday? They don't take weekend brunch reservations.

    Usually about 60 minutes

Do they have a full bar?

    Yes, they do.

Is it impossible to get a table Saturday for brunch if you don't have a reservation?

Kitchen story doesn't take reservations for brunch. The crowd looks intimidating, but out of the many times I've waited for brunch there, its been at most 30-45 minutes which isn't as bad as other places. And if you don't mind sitting outside, I've…

    Do they have parking?

    No, just street parking.

How much do the bottomless mimosas cost?

    $19

The mee ka tang had wok-charred noodles topped with a mild, lightly seasoned gravy and a generous portion of protein. The prices are reasonable. Food comes out quickly and the staff is very sweet. Overall a great spot for Thai food.

Dumpling Story is what I've heard to be Dumpling Home's aesthetic counterpart (sister restaurants)…read more The interior is definitely aesthetic, featuring a bright, modern, minimalist exterior. Menu is relatively the same as Dumpling Home featuring my faves like the numb and spicy XLB and the sheng jian bao. Both very delicious! The remainder of the dishes we got were also good. I will say the green beans left me wanting a bit more from it. But overall, my party had a nice, fulfilling meal. Dumpling Home will always be my favorite (still prefer it a TINY bit), but because there is less of a crowd, service was amazing! I definitely wouldn't mind coming back considering there the difference in wait time to Dumpling Home.

They have packed in as many tables as they could in here. Yet it didn't feel crowded or like we would bump someone if we breathed. The food. That's what it's all about right? This place delivers. Every thing was as good as the last. They have a pretty extensive menu I wanted to try it all. Sadly I had to settle for Hot and Sour Soup, Wonton soup, Pork Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, Chicken Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, (8Pcs) Pork Dumpling with Sesame Sauce and Red Chili Oil (6Pcs), Numb & spicy pork Bao, Green Onion Pancake, (Sweet) Red Bean Paste Pockets. We had it family style. The 3 of us shared it all. There was plenty to go around. None of us left hungry. I can't even pick a favorite. Maybe the numb and spicy which wasn't that spicy. It was just so good and flavorful. The soup dumplings were amazing. So much perfect flavor. They held together until the bite. So good. The hot and sour soup was plenty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly among the best. The only thing I will say is that one of my companions can't have seaweed. The wonton soup was amazing but full of seaweed. It wasn't listed on the menu and we have never had seaweed in any other wonton soup so didn't know to ask if it could be left out. That was sad. All she could do was have a tiny spoon of the broth to taste it. The green onion pancake was very good. The red bean paste pockets use the same dough but filled with sweet red bean paste. They were a perfect way to end the meal. Next time I'm in the city I will visit again. Loved it all. It was worth taking the time to visit and eat there.
