Visited from out of town, drove 20 minutes to support a black business, and walked in with our family and the employees just stared at us. Be sure to arrive before 4 if you want to dine-in. We arrived at 4:01 to an empty restaurant and they denied us dine in service. Two things would've stopped this review: Simply posting that you stop dine in service at 4 p.m and welcoming us and explaining everything. read more

My friend's and I stayed around the corner from this spot on our visit to Savannah. The food was amazing. We all had the shrimp po boys and we were very happy. The service was amazing and the prices were just right. Their menu can't be beat. Make sure you that pop in to this place during your stay. Stumbled onto this little jewel while in search of a moderately priced brunch. Cleanest restaurant I've entered in Savannah by a mile. Very friendly waitress was attentive and our meals were delicious. We wanted to go back for dinner but weren't able to make it before closing. read more

Found this little diner and so glad we did! Ambience is quaint and gives those hometown vibes. There was a big group of locals so we had to wait a little but it was well worth it! I come from New England so when I come down south, I expect to find some down home soul food that I can't find in the New England area. Savannah has a few "soul food" restaurants, but it was only in Kim's Cafe that I found the complete repertoire of a complete soul food menu of the traditional fare. Sometime you will go to a soul food restaurant to get that particular dish that you have a taste or craving for only to find that they are not serving it for some reason or other, I found out that's definitely not the case in Kim's cafe. Everything on the menu they have it right now and they serve it. The food is just plain "decadent". What I mean is it's too good, so good you'll swallow your tongue. I consider myself a very discriminant connoisseur of soul food and in my opinion, when in Savannah Kim's Cafe is the only one that passes muster, that fulfills every idea, expectation or fantasy you have about any down-home traditional fare of a complete soul food menu. You can go ahead and tryout the other soul food restaurants around Savsnnah, but when to compare to Kim's you will remember "I told you so!". You better go and gets you some! read more

was in Savannah for a conference (Saturday through Wednesday). Tuesday mid morning (10:00) Me and my girlfriend decide to get some brunch. looked up the local spots and this place had what appeared to be good reviews and breakfast all day long. Came in like I said about 10:00 maybe 5 after. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and girlfriend got a Belgian waffle - TO GO. We go and sit down in the waiting chairs. There are only about 3 tables of people sitting and waiting for Dine-In and one other lady sitting in the siting chairs for a Togo order. After about 20-30 minutes I have taken note that the Dine-in people are SLOWLY getting their food. Also other folks have come in after us- ordered and received their food and left. I at first chalk this to order ahead as the place offers this. I start to pay more attention to everyone coming in and they are actually giving their orders as the walk in - NOT ORDER AHEAD. My girlfriend has gone up twice now -- it's 10:50 - and asked how much longer and the response both times were - it's coming out in just a second. 11:05 rolls around .. shes goes up and ask again and I here the same response while the lady is bagging a Togo order that another gentleman had littles walk in about 10 minutes before and ordered. I get up and tell her never mind just give me my money back. She starts to apologize and I ask ..very nicely . But with a matter of fact tone.. I said come on you've said thst for the past 20 minutes and besides .. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE MAKE AN EGG SANDWICH AND WAFFLE. I reit that it's been over an hour and that other people have come in after us - order and got their food. She then gets somewhat of an attitude and says I'm it in the back cooking I'm out here.. I said yea I know this .. but come on be realistic. Then she gives the offer of well it's because of how the orders come in. WRONG STATEMENT.. my order was placed an HOUR AGO.. and there have been several order placed well after mine that were more complicated (fried food). She finally gives me a receipt showing the transaction was voided and the money returned my card. We left .. no food .. hungry, and now pissed. Horrible service, pitiful attitude, and well .. not sure how the food tastes .. but I'm sure it's not worth an hours wait on an egg sandwich and waffle. DON'T GO THIS PLACE. read more

Lordy Lordy Lordy this place is great. The decor is nice and trendy. Very clean & spacious, but the food is what will bring you back. My husband ordered the chitterlings & rice, I ordered meatloaf, greens and fried corn-on-cob. Can't stress enough how delicious is ALL was. Cooked & seasoned just right. Kim's Cafe is my favourite place to order breakfast staples on the weekend in Savannah! Super quick service and really fair prices. The combo meals come out to be around $12 with tip and taxes which is insane for the amount of good food you end up getting! Highly recommend this place to anyone who likes all American breakfast food! read more
