The food was okay and the service was okay. I was so excited based on so many reviews and reading the menu a head of time. Got the conquistador and the nachos. Both unfortunately were underwhelming. The bread was tough to eat and chew, the size of the sandwich was also not worth the price. The chicken well seasoned and tasted good. The nachos were under topped leaving us with 75% of the nachos chips without any toppings. The chips were very sturdy almost too thick. The flavor was nice but with only a portion being able to be eaten with the toppings, not great overall. Maybe it was an off day or not the right things to order, but left us sad for $32 later and not being satisfied. I had Zunzibar (also known as Zunzi's) recommended to me by several family members as a great place to grab a meal in Savannah, as it serves up one of the best chicken sandwiches in the world (probably according to some random "culinary expert" or magazine/poll). I figured I'd put the claims to the test for myself. The places is well decorated with both outdoor patio and indoor seating, with fun vacation vibes. We ordered the Fire Island (peri-peri blackened mahi) and Conquistador (chicken) sandwiches. Both sandwiches (4.5/5) were absolutely delicious and prepared using fresh and flavorful ingredients. I'm glad I asked for the sauces on the side for the chicken sandwich, as I only liked 1 of the 2 sauces. The Zapp's potato chips were your standard run of the mill potato chips, but were a decent accompaniment to the sandwiches. I'd certainly be a regular customer for their chicken sandwich if I lived closer. The funny thing is that I had an Uber driver raving about the same sandwich when I brought it up the following day. Service (5/5) was kind and friendly throughout the meal. We sat at the bar and our bartender was Ashley. She was super friendly super helpful because this is our first time visiting Savannah. She made us fresh margaritas which were delicious and we ordered a mahi poke bowl that was out of this world. I would definitely recommend this place! This place has gone from amazing local food with a South African twist to complete commercialized garbage. Local Savannah foodie pages have been saying the same thing for years. Even after the 2021 rebrand, it still held on for a while, but something in the last 5 years at the main office has completely lost touch. They expanded to three locations: ; downtown, Tybee, and Hilton Head, and in the process the whole identity fell apart. The menu has been gutted of its originality. The "OG" items are now overpriced, portion sizes have been cut in half, and the original sides that made it special are gone. What used to be a simple, order-and-sit-down experience is now chaotic. You're herded in by an overstaffed but somehow still disorganized team of high-turnover employees with zero consistency and very little emotional intelligence. There are always way too many staff for the number of customers, yet service somehow keeps getting worse. Last night was the final straw. We tried the Tybee location first, waited 30 minutes just to be seated, only to be told they were basically out of everything and could only do drinks. So we drove to downtown. Same exact thing. Out of sausage. When we asked if we could just remove it or substitute it, we didn't get a simple no, we got an "absolutely not," because apparently everything is pre-mixed and nothing can be adjusted. Even worse once we sat down. It took 15 minutes just to be asked for drink orders. A different server came over, introduced himself like we were starting fresh, and then got visibly annoyed when we said we'd already ordered water and a soda. From there it just kept getting more awkward. At one point he bumped my cup while I was literally lifting it to my lips and told me to "watch out" while he was placing food down. He took forever to check us out and finally bring our soda to go, and ended the night by saying, "just so you know I'm faster than the other girl," like we were in the middle of some weird staff competition we didn't sign up for. On the outside it still looks like a fun Savannah staple. But once you sit down, you realize you're no longer a local guest, you're trapped in an overhyped tourist operation that's completely lost what made it good in the first place. read more

This is a diverse and casual sandwich joint . . . think things made with chicken, sausage, provolone, salmon, tomato, onion, and even curry chicken salad or falafel. They also serve nachos, chips and dip, oysters. I didn't have food, came here for drinks only. They have a great selection of margaritas, beer, and even THC drinks. They also have wine, shots, brunch drinks. I had a special, a hibiscus mojito, which was crisp, clean, and delish. I had the mango margarita to go. My husband and I come to Zunzi's often and have always had a great experience, the food, drinks, and service are consistently great...but recently we had THE best experience with Leon (sorry if I misspelled your name) As someone who works in hospitality, I really appreciate when someone goes beyond great service and actually anticipates a guest's needs, and Leon did exactly that. She was so friendly and personable without being overbearing, made great conversation, and was always on top of refills and anything we needed. What really got me was how sweet she was with our dog. Without us even asking, she brought him a bowl of water (which we normally always have to ask for!) AND surprised him with a little pup cup and treat. It was such a small gesture, but it absolutely made our day and he loved it! Leon truly exceeded our expectations and made an already great place even better. Definitely ask for her when you go. Quick stop on the way out of Savannah was a hit! I got the appetizer called Lekker spread which you get to pick dips for the pita/chips/veggies. I got hummus, guacamole, and a chicken curry. Hummus and guac were good but the chicken curry yall. Spicy and hits you in all the right ways. It was perfect for a light lunch and was plenty for an extra snack on the drive home. Parking is a nightmare but that's Savannah in general. I loved the colorful island vibes of the restaurant. We were in Savannah for a small family vacation for a few days, and this was our first stop upon getting to town. We chose Zunzi's for lunch, given good reviews here. It is a unique eatery, with largely outdoor seating and a restroom that is accessible from the exterior of the building. We had two adults in two small children in our party. Overall, I think everyone just thought their food was OK. Of course my children enjoyed the prepackaged items (rice crispy treat and juice box) served with their meal, but neither finished the entrée. I ordered a cocktail which was tasty, but overfilled with ice so it was a short-lived experience. I'm not sure I'd come back here again if in town, as the restaurant was more visually stimulating (fun decor) than it was able to speak to my taste buds. Additionally, parking is difficult to find. My fiancé and I were not super hungry having had a big breakfast so we just shared a salad. I ordered the Godfather which had chicken, boereswore sausage , and regular sausage. It was pretty good but it was a lot and I don't know if all the meats really went well together I think it was too much. It had some kind of tomato sauce on it which I didn't know, I thought it was just going to be regular tomato. I think I liked my husband's conquistador sandwich better because it went better together and wasn't overwhelming. The sauces that came with it were good. The chips were tasty too and had a little bit of a kick and you also get free chip refills . I had a sweet tea.
