I'm always looking for Cuban food since where I live fails miserably at it. This spot had amazing options (though a lot of my choices were sold out which was disappointing). Get there early! My only wish is that there was AC. It was so hot I had to eat and leave asap. I'd definitely stop in for a to go Cuban in the future though!

Found a small Cuban place in Savannah, actually if you look, there are a few cuban placed in the area. casa guava is small, where you can get your fix of Cuban coffee, cortadito, cafe con leche, cuban toast, pastelitos, etc. You order at the counter and the chef or cook sends the food down in a box from upstairs. Like a dumb waiter, we found it to be ingenious. Ok, maybe not, but you get the point.

Hubby and I along with his brother and our sister-in-law needed a place for a quick breakfast before leaving Savannah. We decided on Casa Guava. We walked over from our nearby bed and breakfast. The dining area was small but a group was leaving just as we finished ordering. The decor was super cute and they really used all the space very wisely. The kitchen was on the second floor so they used a food elevator to send down orders. Hubby and I ordered the same thing: an asere breakfast sandwich and a cafe con leche. We added on a guava and cheese pastelito and a guava pastelito to share. Our order was served up hot and fresh. The breakfast sandwich was amazing! The ham croquets were tasty, egg perfectly fried with a runny yolk, the potato sticks added a nice crunch, brioche bun was toasty, and the mojo aioli was a lovely addition. The cafe con leche was delightful and reminded me of my childhood. The pastelitos were top notch! I've been eating pastelitos since I could crawl and these were some of the best I've ever had. No shortage of guava, fantastically flaky, truly decadent! I know good Cuban food and Casa Guava blew me away! Excellent food and coffee, creative menu, and friendly service. We will definitely be back next time we are in Savannah!

Food was really great. Best Cuban sandwich I've ever had. Only thing I would change about the sandwich is it needed more pickles. Plantains I could take em or leave em. The tamal was very moist and tender. Great flavor. I would have given 5 stars but the service was poor. We got there at 2:30 pm and were told they were selling out of food and that anything we order we have to get it to go and wouldn't be allowed to eat in the restaurant. They close at 5 and their open sign was still on and their door was wide open. The croquet & empanadas were sold out. There were 2 other groups in the restaurant eating but they said we could find a bench outside to eat. I asked for plastic wear for our food and we were given 1 although we had 3 people in our group. The workers seemed like we were inconveniencing them by being there. I would go again but earlier and plan to have not great service.

Went here today for some Cuban food. I ordered a guava and cheese pastry and they didn't have any. I ordered croquettes and they were good. I also ordered Cuban bread and either it's not authentic bread or they did not cook it correctly. It did not taste like Cuban bread that's for sure. I also had Cuban coffee which was ok. Service was very slow, but friendly. Ambiance of this small place was ok but it seems they don't have A/C in this place. I won't return here. Just wasn't that great.

A cozy little cuban cafe! They have been open for only three and a half months, so be sure to try them out. I am cuban and was surprised to see two cuban food options in Savannah. I was so excited to have some cuban pastries since I can't get them close to my home in Texas, yet I found some on vacation. We ordered cafe cubanos, croquetas, pastelitos de guayaba (guava pastries), and the spinach and cheese empanadas. We got to sit in a corner booth by the window where we could store all of our stuff and had enough room for 3 adults and a child. They have great cuban decor, lots of natural light and some plants. Seating is about 5/6 small tables with one small bathroom. It's not ideal if you have to change a diaper. The upstairs is a kitchen. One cool feature to witness is the wood dumbwaiter they made to carry the food down from the upstairs kitchen. I'm used to the Miami sized Cafe cubano portions, so I was surprised to see the larger portions served here. Extra caffeine pump! They use cafe bustelo, which many Cubans love (including me). The espuma was slightly lacking, but it was still tasty. The croquetas were average and needed the cilantro aioli for extra flavor. The exterior was delicious. I just needed a little more ham in the bechamel. The pastelitos de guayaba were delicious. The pastry was a touch undercooked on the bottoms. However, it added a bit of gooeyness that made it irresistible. I highly recommend drinking a cafe cubano slowly while enjoying a pastelito de guayaba. It is a match made in heaven. Lastly, the spinach and cheese empanadas were a perfectly balanced savory treat. Crunchy empanada crust packed with a flavorful spinach filling. I highly recommend vegetarians eating this! Overall, it was a very tasty breakfast treat. If I return, I definitely want to try their tamal. It sounded so good. They have pork inside the tamal and on top. I'm hungry already. Let me go back. ;)

This place is small, offering a couple of tables. Their upper level is a kitchen, not a customer space, and they bring food down on a little elevator that you can watch. While Cuban doesn't have a ton of vegetarian options, this place does offer a sandwich with guava and cheese; it did not hit me until after I ordered it that between that and the guava lemonade, the name of the place is really on the nose. Ordering a guava empanada would have been overkill, but the flavor I got out of my sandwich and lemonade was intriguing. Guava is a delicious fruit. My order was taken by a rather disaffected teenager (teenagers are the same everywhere), but it was good, and I was happy they were open in a city where a lot of things aren't open on Sunday, let alone Easter.

This place is straight FIRE!! As authentic as it can get without having to take the trip to Havana!

Back in Savannah for work. Definitely didn't miss it yet lol!!! I love this town, BUT it's soooo busy, the roads are so rough, and the locals......most are not my cup. I like most of the tourists, and there's a LOT, better! Lol History and buildings and the trees with the moss, it's just so intriguing here. Makes your mind wonder to what things actually once were...... Everything we had at Casa Guava was absolutely amazing, lol EXCEPT having enough places to sit and customers chatting and ignoring others waiting for tables. The only other complaints are: we walked in and they had the breakfast menu up, at 12:30, 2 of the 4 of us wanted items on that menu! They were also out of 3 of the 4 pastelitos. Then, when our food arrived, I received a chicken empanada when I ordered beef. My husband ordered and got 2 beef. I overheard the cashier tell someone else that they ran out of the beef. Then you tell the person who already paid, giving the option to pick the flavor they want or something else or get their money back!!! I know that all sounds like I should be giving them 2* but yall, the food and coffee were unbelievablably good!!! The sandwich my daughter had, as you can see by my grand chowing down, was perfection. We don't eat pork and 75% of the menu is pork, but that steak sandwich was fabulous!!! Also, the sweet bread with the guava paste and cheese was so scrumptious that we hurt our bellies eating it. That pastelitos they did have was cheese only. The pastry was divine but the cheese inside wasn't great and a little on the lumpy side as far as texture goes. It was good but the other flavors (they were out of) are clearly better. The breads were all fantastic, soft, perfectly toasted, yumminess! And our empanadas.......so good I didn't even care I was given chicken (had to bite to find out lol). I believe it had potatoes in with the chicken and was so perfectly seasoned, with curry I believe! The beef empanada was so flavorful! The spinach and cheese was stuffed full but was the perfect blend to not be too spinachy or too cheesy (if that's possible lol). The dough the empanadas were made from was golden brown and beautiful in taste, texture, and appearance. The restaurant is tiny with very little seats/tables but it is adorable. They cook the food upstairs and have a dumb waiter to lower the food down. Cuban coffees and other beverages are prepared behind the counter. The staff was nice, except not communicating the switch of my empanada. Overall, the complaints didn't bother us because the food was SO good!!! We WILL be back......maybe tomorrow morning for the other flavors of pastelitos! Lol

Saw this and place multiple times while in town visiting family. The name of the restaurant caught my eye because it the word Guava in it. Guava Guava ohh how I love Guava. The restaurant is downtown Savannah which makes parking very difficult, especially if all you want to do is pick up and order and go back home. I placed the order over the phone. Cuban and empanadas. Yep, I completely forgot to ask about Guava pastries! UGH! But anyway the empanadas were okay, not much flavor and the Cuban was the same. The restaurant is small not that much seating but nice. I'm going to go back when I'm town again to try the Guava pastries, hopefully they are much better.

Food and service were great. We caught them just before they closed, so some menu items were unavailable, which usually means they are made fresh and sell out. My wife and I had a Cuban sandwich and a chicken sandwich, with plantain chips. The food tasted great.

I sat eating my food with tears in my eyes. The food was incredible and more than that, the vibe in this little walk up restaurant brought me right back to Calle Ocho in Miami. The steady stream of customers order for dine (only 6 small 2 top tables) and take out was astounding. People in and out with speed. I overheard several conversations of people claiming they'd be back tomorrow and saw, what I assume, several regulars coming in for their "usual" orders. In all, I'll definitely be back even if it's just to sip my cafe con leche and eat my cheese pastelito and pretend for a moment I'm back in Little Havana.

Open only until 2:00 PM, if you're looking for breakfast, brunch or lunch, this is the place to be. Arriving at just about noon, the place was packed, but not unpleasantly so, with customers that quickly moved through the ordering process, past the register, and to the ample seating, of their own choosing (with limited outdoor seating available; but not preferable at the time, due to the spotty showers that also choose to attend). Beverages are provided as payment is being made, leaving no thirst unquenched. Needless to say, seating is immediate. With a cup of rich, flavorful, house blend coffee in hand, my daughter, Son in Law, and I found a seat with a great view of the market activities happening outside only moments before our meals were served. The Italian Panini, chock full of succulent mildly spicy meats and lettuce, covered proportionately with dressing (yes, I was given my own bite size sample) , was my daughter's choice; a visually appealing (although not personally sampled) breakfast platter was the pick of the day for my Son in Law; and, Salmon BLT, composed of one thick, juicy piece of salmon, bursting with flavor, accented by a slice of smokey bacon atop a crisp bed of lettuce, slathered in a mild, but tasty, mustard based sauce, between two halves of a soft , flakey, croissant that more than rivaled the size of an average hamburger bun, was my choice. It did not disappoint. At just under $45.00, before tip, all of this seemed like a bargain. If there could be a downside to this experience, and I would say there couldn't be, it would be that, when visiting Savanah, choosing the place to eat jus became a bit more difficult, with Goose Feathers now in contention.
