Keystone Ranch restaurant is a hidden gem. We celebrated our anniversary here and the staff really goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy as you enjoy dinner is a 1930s log cabin. The food is some of the best I've had in the area. Amazing steaks and wine selection! We enjoyed this restaurant, but had a heck of a time getting here as some of the roads were closed or blocked off. Good things come to those who wait, and we arrived to a beautiful environment. We were seated promptly and got our drinks. Salad course was nice (I got the wedge salad). Nothing special, but it was fresh. Just overpriced for a basic wedge salad you could get anywhere. My Ribeye steak was delicious, and the veal Demi glaze was exceptional. It also was cooked perfectly. Not sure it was a $58 dollar steak, but we were (after all) on a ski vacation so I was expecting to pay a premium. A nice risotto accompanied my meal which also was prepared perfectly. My wife had the fish - it was just ok. Pan roasted, but unfortunately one side was bordering on over cooked and the other side was undercooked. She ended up only eating about half of it....disappointing.... Our waiter was great, and it was a super nice touch that you can go from the main restaurant to the fireplace room for dessert. We didn't opt for dessert, but I wish I had gotten their chocolate soufflé! Next time I will. I would be tempted to return, but only in the off-season when hopefully their premium prices return to earth. Our meal was amazing! We had dinner for my husband's bday and truly enjoyed the entire experience. Our waiter Brandon was fantastic throughout the entire time there. He knew the menu and gave us recommendations (which I love). I started off with a salad which was simple but wonderful with thinly sliced pears and fennel. The Brussels sprouts were unlike any I've ever tasted with caramelized onions - so tasty! My main was the scallops and oh so yummy! My husband loved his barley soup, as well as his perfectly-cooked filet mignon. I am so excited about the new chef and am looking forward to returning in December. I highly recommend this place. We had such a fantastic meal here. I ordered the dry aged ribeye and it was one of the best steaks I have ever had. My husband ordered the lamb chops. We had mussels for appetizer and they were wonderful. My daughter wasn't feeling well so they brought her out a little cup of soup and plenty of bread. We loved that they moved us into the living room for dessert by the fire place. We enjoyed hearing the history of the original cabin. Soufflé was really nice for dessert. The service was absolutely horrible. We had to ask the hostess for a waiter to come by. We say there for 15 minutes no one came by. Even though they have a kids menu the serving staff was not good for kids, they need to remove their kids menu. My kids were fine with their tablets and the waiter said do they have headphones those are very loud, my mom and I could barely hear them at the same table. If they don't want to serve kids then stop offering a kids menu. The hostess was also a ding bat when I asked her for a waiter she brought me reading glasses I said no I asked for a waiter. I ended up sitting outside with my kids while we were waiting for our food to take back to the condo and we got the wrong food, at least my kids' food was right. I ordered the scallops and ended up getting a fish with salad and the fish was cold. Even then it wasn't edible. This restaurant has gone way down hill. It used to be delicious. This was my second time dining at The Keystone Ranch. The last time I dined here they had the Prix fixe menu. They have now changed their menu to a la cart - steak house style. I was most pleased to note they still have their Kettle ranch soup on the menu (I would not have been happy if this was removed as I dream about this soup...it's that good!) we stared with oysters, scallops and mussels. We all enjoyed the kettle ranch soup. For the entree I had the rib eye and it was excellent. The only complaint I have (and the reason for only 4 stars) is that my sides were ice cold. My favorite part of the meal is dessert by the fireplace! For dessert we all had the grand marnier soufflé - wow!! Also must have is the banana bread in the bread basket! We even asked for some to take home and they were kind enough to give us 8 slices. Fantastic for breakfast the next morning before skiing! read more

Our friends wanted to come here for a recent celebration. The facility and location are nicely nestled in the golf course. While we are not "foodies", our friends are and enjoyed the meal. The food was very good and served well. We, of course, had wine and was disappointed in the service. When you are paying 4x the cost for a bottle of wine, the expectation is that glasses are refilled when empty, more bottles are offered when the current one is empty and the next bottle is left on the table, not on the serving table next to it. I had to get up to get more wine- unacceptable. This is an expensive restaurant and the service was not to the standard of the facility or the quality of the food. When we we leaving after a large bill, the manager was too busy having a personal conversation at the door to even acknowledge us. Net - good food and ambiance. Service is a an issue and will detract from the experience. read more

The Ranch is an absolute gem in Summit County. It is truly an old ranch house that has been converted into a 5 star restaurant. The fireplace was a honeymoon present long ago. You pull up to this wonderful log structure and you know you are in a magical place. There are historical photos which tell it's story. The food is geared towards fresh game but always includes seafood options. The Holiday 5 course meals are second to none. It is always challenging, interesting and delicious. I have been lucky enough to have eaten here many, many times over the years and have yet to be let down. The service is impeccable. After your meal you will be led into the fireplace room for desert and coffee. I recommend the Grand Marnier Souffle with pistachio sauce. To me, it is the most perfect place to finish an evening. The Quinoa Beet Salad was good ~ but the quinoa was more of a topping and the beets were garnish on a ton of greens. Good flavor but not what I expected. My steak~ the Rib Eye was also good but not quite "to die for"...primarily because they didn't cook it to my preferred temp. The waiter was wonderful, but I hate sending things back. My husband and I came here in October of 2007, and were completely floored by the perfection of our 5 course meal. The service was at a perfect tempo, the log cabin atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the sommelier hit the bullseye with wine recommendations with the Prix Fixe menu. Some memorable tidbits of the evening include a melt-in-your-mouth kobe appetizer, Colorado lamb stew, watermelon salad, the Moulard duck. Delicious berry sorbets are offered between courses to cleanse the palate. Once dinner has come to a conclusion, you are moved from the dining room into a grand living area with a huge fireplace. Here, you enjoy your digestifs and desserts. We had blackberry strudel (with lemon ice cream and lavender pound cake) and the cake-n-shake (delicious, but D Bar Desserts in Denver has the market cornered on this dish). For an updated look at their menu, go to Zagat's and search for Keystone Ranch. I don't know why Keystone Ranch does not have an official website, but maybe it's because they really don't need one, having been a classic, award-winning success since 1980. The Keystone Ranch has been a family favorite for 30 years probably. It is one of the first places I ever ate true game food and it opened a whole new culinary world to me. They have continued the tradition and still have so many unique offering like elk, boar, rabbit and pork belly, it is often hard to choose, but I usually go as exotic as I can. It was boar this last ski trip. My favorite part of the meal is dessert. You move from the main dining room into the "living room" in front of a huge stone fireplace and are served coffee, after dinner drinks and desert seated as comfortably as if you were home or in a friends hunting lodge. The staff from the valets, to the servers to the wine steward and bussing staff just hit every note perfectly. I can't think think of a single bad experience in all the meals we've had here. read more

My husband took me here for our 5th Anniversary. We've been to some amazing restaurants in this price point, and although everything was more or less good, the meal just didn't blow our socks off. The Short Rib Ravioli was delicious. The Pork Osso Bucco was just ok. Service was good, not spectacular. We drove at night in a blizzard to get to this place, and missed the turn. We ended up down a scary service road. So one suggestion would be to make the signage more visible. Honestly in a blizzard at night everything looked the same. Also we didn't realize that Valet was even an option. Again no signs, so it wasn't clear. read more

Food had potential based on reading the menu beforehand, but was not executed very well. Family of 6 without any alcohol was $65/person. Odd pairings did not come across well. The bright spots were the pork belly appetizer, the best scallops we've ever had, and the bison ribeye. Low points were the cauliflower steak, and the brined pheasant. Disappointing that we asked and indicated our interest in the house-special soufflé but waiter did not submit it/nor even bring it back up until we retired to the dessert room! It take an extra 25 min and is 'special' yet we didn't get it! All in all, would not come here again, and prices were way over what the quality of the food should have been! This was a great place to eat during the summer of 2017. We recently had our first dinner in July 2018 and it is not as good as last year. The prices are significantly higher, the food is mediocre and the service had long breaks between dishes. One of us had to wait 7 minutes for our entree after all the others were served. The chef's special was a seafood, but it was mostly potatoes. A glass of wine was $17. The wedge salad had a teaspoon of dressing. We all had to order more dressing. It was suppose to be blue cheese, but had no flavor. It was truly disappointing so we will be making the drive to Break to eat in some fabulous restaurants. read more

My review isn't on a full meal, but on a special event tasting I had during one of Keystone's festivals. The tasting was just a tidbit of the delicious food prepared at this converted ranch...the flavors are simple and clean, to show off the fresh ingredients. Started with a selection of local cheese and fruit, then some meat heavy tastes of rabbit terrine, elk and lamb. While eating each taste, the chef educated everyone on sourcing from farms, how he talks to farmers to determine what ingredients are the freshest and best quality for his menus...some great insight into running a restaurant. The restaurant has a cozy rustic log cabin feel...I just wanted to snuggle up to the fireplace with a glass of red wine. The drive up to Keystone Ranch was a little unexpectedly exhilarating...curvy, icy, steep narrow roads, so I was glad I had a 4WD SUV rental. Go slow! read more

Such an amazing dining experience, I don't know if anything else can top it! When we made our reservation they arranged to have us picked up from our hotel so we could both have drinks with our meal. The drive to the restaurant was one of the most breathtakingly gorgeous drives I've ever taken, this place is tucked back in the forest of keystone, and it feels like you're being taken on a journey to somewhere magical. The restaurant itself is simply amazing, and by that I mean it's simple, and amazing; there's no crazy decor or trendy art to spice the place up, it's just a nice cozy and elegant dining room. Our server Brandon was amazing, he answered all of our questions with clarity and struck a great balance between leaving us to our date, and making sure we were doing alright. Our food was the best steak we've ever had, hands down, I don't think I'll ever be able to match the quality that I got here. And make sure you nibble on the complementary banana bread! I have traveled around the world reviewing and tasting some of the finest dishes at a variety of restaurants. I was so looking forward to trying the Keystone Ranch in Keystone, Colorado as I read so much about it. The restaurant did not disappoint. Firstly, the ambiance was perfect for an intimate dinner. Rustic yet formal, the restaurant provided a unique charm to the overall dining experience. Service was top notch. The server was extremely knowledgeable about the dishes and her personality made the evening that much more pleasant. Their tasting menu provided extremely creative yet approachable dishes. The bone marrow dish was perhaps one of the best I have ever tried. The ferro salad was memorable and tasty. The Australian fish was succulent and uniquely seasoned. The dish was very well presented. The final course, a cheese course, was well appointed. Ports and sherry finalized the evening by the fireplace (a tradition of the restaurant). It was truly a relaxing way to end the evening. The views around the area are incredible and thus I would recommend trying to get to your reservation before sunset. The only thing I would like them to improve on is the wines by the glass. The list lacked depth and true insight. While they have a nice pinot noir from Russian River, CA, overall I was not impressed. Enjoy Keystone!! read more

We were excited to try this place after seeing so many amazing reviews. Unfortunately we were disappointed in both the food and the service. Our server made multiple mistakes with our order, including forgetting to put the order for our Grand Mariner soufflé in, which takes 45 to make. This place is incredible! Wow. It is 100% worth the extra money. It is in the most beautiful part of Keystone overlooking the mountains and the golf course. There is a new chef (as of last year) who is excellent. To start the meal is fresh baked banana bread, sour dough and this thin wafer bread with cheese on it. It is served with fresh butter and jam. I could have just eaten that and have been happy. For my soup/salad dish I got the grapefruit and beet salad, which is on top of a rich creamy st.andres cheese, with walnuts and fresh greens. It was such a great little salad. For my entree I ordered the Venison which came with little potatoes drizzled with a reduced bacon sauce, freshly picked morels, artichoke and french beans. After eating my plate was literally whipped clean. To finish of the amazing entree and salad, I got to sample every dessert. Wow. There was a grand marnier souffle which was yummmmmy. Also the chocolate mouse with with chocolate ganache was great. To sum it up, I have no complaints about my time at The Ranch. It is a must for anyone wanting a unique experience and incredible food while visiting Keystone or Summit County. Just to location itself is a main selling point, but the food is delish! read more

Outstanding atmosphere, service, and food! We dined on the seafood special: Arctic Char. It was excellent; fresh, perfectly cooked, and served with a wild mushroom tortellini - yum! We shared a dessert by the cozy fireplace, and even ran into some friends from Denver! We will be back to try the Elk and Colorado Lamb! This was our first time to "The Ranch"; we usually head up the gondola to Alpenglow Stube when we want to splurge. I am giving The Keystone Ranch 3 stars due to a poor service experience(rude waitress) and serving cold food at a wedding I recently attended. First of all, the location was spectacular and it was a cozy place for a wedding. I really enjoyed the property and found it perfect for a wedding of this size (around 70 people). I rarely complain about food at restaurants, for a variety of reasons, but mostly because I will simply tolerate food that is less than expected. In this case, we attended a beautiful wedding here and had been thoroughly enjoying ourselves. The reception dinner started out OK. The salad was pretty good, the bread was tasty, and small sorbet serving prior to our entree was a unique touch. When the entree was served, three people at my table immediately noticed that the ravioli was ice cold. I am not talking about food that lacks warmth. I am talking partially uncooked ravioli. The people at my table were all mentioning it and since the entree had JUST been set down I immediately hopped up to inform the nearest waitress, Ashton, of the issue. I politely told Ashton that three people, at our table alone, mentioned the ravioli was ice cold. She stared at me blankly and said "Ok?". I was a little stunned at the lack of a response beyond that, so I asked if she would please help them and I walked to my seat to start on my entree (I was having the alternate option). She went to the kitchen and I expected she was going to bring out another plate of food for these people, so I began to eat. Ashton comes over to the table and stands right behind the people with cold food, who are sifting through the ravioli to find edible pieces, and she says, in an annoyed tone, "So, are they going to stop eating or what do you want me to do?". Those of us at the table sat in stunned silence. Ashton, you chose a job in the service industry. I simply attended my friend's wedding and expected (apparently foolishly) that after being at your establishment for 4+ hours we would be served edible food. Ashton, we shouldn't have to tell you how to do your job. You work in the service industry in a market whose economy is predominantly reliant upon visitors. How about presenting some options to the people with cold food? How about addressing them directly? You simply walked away, ignored the situation and never addressed it again. What did we do to annoy you so quickly? Since we were attending a wedding and I did not want to spend one second of my time there arguing, I simply asked Ashton for her name the next time I saw her (20 minutes later) and decided I would share the experience here. Final thoughts: - Food is decent - Location and venue are wonderful if you are looking for a cozy cabin feel - Nice venue for a wedding of 50-80 people - The wedding coordinator (not sure if she is tied to the location) was FANTASTIC. We had dinner at Keystone Ranch mused-September; the off season. The food is very good and nice touch to move to the original room for dessert. But the experience would have been 4-5 stars if the service was not sooooo horribly slow. Not just the waitstaff but the bar as well. We were one of 6 tables and waited between courses with empty plates, the server seemed to give each dish and cocktail to the wrong person. When we finally moved into the cozy room for dessert with only 4 other tables, we had to find someone to order coffee and again to get the bill. It was disappointing and frustrating. It's not a trip to Keystone without a stop at Keystone Ranch Restaurant. The food and service are top notch! We carried out our Thanksgiving from there and we all agreed, it was the best turkey and mashed potatoes we have ever had (our ages run 3-84, so it's hard to please all, but the Ranch sure did)! We were sad to not be able to dine in as we love to see the regular staff that go above and beyond all year round. However, it has been a long time dream to be able to carry the ranch out...and so I hope this change (due to Covid) is something they will consider making permanent. We will be back for New Years w friends and look forward to carrying out then and sharing the joy of this restaurant with our dear friends. We can't wait to dine again in person (hopefully this summer)! read more

We dined here on a Tuesday night, March 6, 2018. This is an absolutely gorgeous restaurant with an elegant mountain cabin feel. The drive to the restaurant was beautiful. One nice feature is that the restaurant sent a car and driver to get us and return us home at no additional charge. The young man who drove was friendly, inviting and professional. The service was very good, although at times a bit slow. The server was polite and professional. I ordered the cold prawns as my appetizer. This was an EPIC FAIL. I received two large prawns with the head, body and tail including the eyes and antennae. While a unique presentation which might have been appreciated if the dish was good, this was not expected at all. I was picturing more of a "shrimp cocktail" like dish. What made the dish an epic fail for me was the very small amount of tail meat. The actual edible portion of this dish was smaller than two 21-30 shrimp, and it was rubbery to boot. No utensils were served to get into the body of the prawn. I tried opening the body to see if there was additional meat, but was not able to get into it. Since I did not pay for the meal, I can only imagine what the "market price" was for this failure of an appetizer. My entree was the veal chop. A nice sized, quality piece of meat cooked exactly as I ordered it, slightly under medium. Unfortunately this was a bit too rare which made it a bit tough to eat. The flavor was quite good. I accept the mea culpa here as the waiter recommended it be served medium. But cooked as recommended would have been excellent. We all had the signature souffle for dessert and were not disappointed, it was excellent. We were invited to the living room to enjoy dessert in front of the fireplace. While the tables were all full in the main room, we sat behind the fireplace in another room that was cold eating our dessert off of a coffee table while sitting on couches. A bit awkward to say the least. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others looking for an upscale experience. If you have time or budget for only one upscale evening, we preferred our experience at the Ski Tip Lodge the next night. read more

My department had their holiday dinner at the Keystone Ranch, I was the one who had to plan it and as I have never planned anything like this, I was very nervous. I sent a ton of emails to Steve Nguyen, the GM, he answered every email in a timely and professional manner. The bartenders and waitstaff were fantastic, they were patient with people being late to the dinner (we did not feel rushed through our meal), they brought a kids meal to an unexpected youngster (wasn't originally planned), we did not want for anything! The food was delicious! I had the salmon and I highly recommend it. Everyone raved about the hanger steak, the chicken and the cauliflower steak (the menu choices we were offered). For dessert, we had a divine cheesecake. I'm so glad we went to The Keystone Ranch for this holiday dinner because I and my co-workers enjoyed ourselves immensely!! read more

Million dollar view! The sandwiches for happy hour are outstanding. The fries are really delicious and their bartenders are always friendly and helpful. I highly suggest eating on the patio out back where you can take in the course the mountains and the valley. There is plenty of parking and you can hit some balls after if you'd like. I believe many of the same waiters work dinner and that is why the service is so excellent as it is a five star restaurant at night. The best restaurant in my neighborhood. read more

Hands down great food and a wonderful dining experience. I took my fiancé here and she was blown away. I don't think she had ever been to any place this fancy. The dinner was great and moving back to a separate back room for desert gave the feeling of a gentlemanly times of old where everyone moves to a backroom to socialize together with brandy and cigars.... but with a new twist of brining your whole family with you. I'm only giving this restaurant two stars because of the service and the desserts. The waiters were extremely pushy with wanting to get a dessert order in when we ordered the main course. The sommelier runs a wine listing that contains a large selection but neglected to tell us that they were out of lots of wine whoops! Once they brought the wine out dont expect to be served. This is a do it yourself restaurant. We had to get up and get the bottles and pour for ourselves. When leaving we had to retrieve out own coats from the coat check (whoops again!) Now to the food- The squab appetizer was delicious although the fig newtons were a bit out of place. The foie gras Reuben was also well received although I admit I didn't try it. The Greek salad is deconstructed and doesn't contain any ingredients a normal Greek salad contains. (They should probably consider renaming that one) The soup special was a cream of potato soup with cheese and some chili which had just the right amount of spice but a little too much cream. Entrees The steak was well seasoned it was a reasonable portion and the barley under it was interesting and tasty. The elk was very good although the sweet potatoes on the side could use some work. The fish was well made and those who ordered it enjoyed it. Dessert Ah yes we finally ordered dessert! Our waitress was relieved. What a disappointment when the best dessert was actually banana bread they served with the bread at the beginning The carrot cake was just okay but wasn't very carrotty. And don't expect to be able to detect the cream cheese in the ice Cream. The pear dessert was bland and didn't combine the flavors of pear and goat cheese at all. The "goat cheese" barely had any flavor at all. What a disappointment. The chocolate mousse cake was good, a bit rich for my taste but good. The marshmallow and lemon gelatin should be removed from the plate. We retired to the living room although despite the restaurant being empty and assurances we could hang out by the fire, it was occupied. The waitress did a high pour of the coffee Moroccan style which was nice too bad the coffee was bland and burnt. This place is worth trying to get take out from. Wouldn't bother going again. read more
