Not bad for a hotel restaurant breakfast! The tiramisu pancakes were a showstopper, and were SUPER delicious with the coffee syrup made in house! The coffee was incredibly subtle and balanced out the sweetness of a typical pancake syrup. The avocado toast was great, but I don't think it's worth the bang for your buck. Breckenridge has higher prices + hotel prices made it somewhat reasonable, but might personally just make my own at these prices. Overall, pretty great food and they had fast service! Having arrived earlier at Grand Timber Lodge we were looking for someplace close, quiet and quality for dinner. It's nice being in Breck during the shoulder season and we were quickly seated and greeted by our server, a long time resident and fellow Dead Head whose name has escaped. She got our drinks out and an appetizer, and then my wife had a delightful Caesar salad and minestrone soup while I tried the Bison short ribs. A spacious and airy space that was oddly empty primetime on a Friday night (maybe 1 or 2 other tables filled). On the positive side, the fries were excellent. Wife said her chicken sandwich was ok. I got the "smash" burger. I guess someone had told them that calling a burger "smash" was cool and appealing, well, I suppose it is, if you're actually making a smash burger. This burger was standard issue hotel restaurant. The bun was old and hard, the burger dry, not fresh, and far from "smashed". Despite the place being nearly empty, service was non-existent. We usually default to the hotel's restaurant our first night at a new place. Edwin is not a good choice for that. We had breakfast there one morning and it was fine, standard hotel issue. Though I'm not sure we'd have gone for the buffet, it was odd that no one mentioned it existed, and we didn't notice until after we'd ordered. read more

Needs a lot of work. Had the eggs Benedict. Was cold when it came out we also had the avocado sandwich was also cold. The restaurant was not crowded. Service was lacking. I have eaten here 3 times now and for my $30 eggs and bacon it's been terrible. "Gravity Huas" down the road is worth walking to. The Carter bar is good the guys really try to make everything great. While the food was good and the waitress was doing her best, the arrival of appetizers was approximately 30 minute. Following the appetizer the main course arrived 30 minutes after that. Our water was not refilled and empty for most of the night. From what we could tell, and also from the waitress, the kitchen is quite a walk from the dining room. It seemed like they were understaffed. The wait to find out if we could get coffee and dessert seemed even longer than the wait for appetizers and entree. The tiramisu was not good at all in my opinion... Overall I was just ok. Nothing special. We also had breakfast the next morning and our order was wrong and again, no water refills despite empty water glasses. Probably wouldn't eat here again if staying at the hotel. read more

Service for eight, plus a toddler, went well. Kimberly and staff were professional. We arrived at 5:30 and received good service and food quite quickly. The menu had entrees, salads and pizza. Prices were good, not extreme like some places on Main St. Our group tried and favored the Elk Bolognese. The Squash Ravioli I had was hardy and delicious. Had a lemony flavor that could have been the arugamata. The Bison Short Ribs were very tender and flavorful. One person had the Peking pizza. Was different. He shared two slices from the 10-12" size. Maybe it was the hoisin BBQ sauce. Wasn't a favorite, tho the duck pieces were plentiful. Edwin's is a better restaurant in the Hilton Hotel. There is also a bar and large lobby. Ya know, the story of this place is its inspiration from Edwin Carter who traveled west in 1868 to try his hand at gold mining. He quickly became distressed at the impact the mining industry. What Edwin should have been distressed about is his name being used in this pretentious 7/11 type food and drinks. Frankly, the pizza was undercooked, I mean how can a "chef" serve undercooked crust. The mojito (there was a mixup and it took 30 minutes to come out, tasted like overly concentrated lemonade with a small leaf of mint floating in it. The wedge salad - oh my god, it took over an hour to be served was a God forsaken wedge (means just a slice of a head of lettuce, I know it's a complicated preparation as cutting a head of lettuce requires lots of culinary training. I mean the addition of fried onions from a can was whole sorts of special. I mean ... really!? This is a pretty place however, I simply don't understand how anyone can give this place over 2 stars. Cassoulet: vegetarian - I believe the entire flavor of this lovely French dish comes from some sort of a gamey meat (well, not here). It's Vegetarian. A lovely Asian family behind us (my kid speaks Chinese) said they were beyond confused how bad the food was. Oh Edwin, Edwin, I am sorry they used your name for this monstrosity. Not only do I want 2 plus hours of my life back but I want a drink to forget this evening and I am pretty certain, it will not come from this bar. What a sad disappointment. Management and ownership should be ashamed. The server was great however, we wanted to get our check as half of our food did not arrive 2 hours in, we asked for a check and the server came back and said "the manager said, please just leave no payment needed". We had dinner at Edwin twice during our stay and the food was consistently delicious both nights. I had the romaine salad, which was fresh, crisp, and light. I added steak to it and it paired perfectly, making it feel hearty without being heavy. My husband ordered the steak and potatoes and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. It was cooked to medium rare as he requested and satisfying after a day of snow activities. We also tried the pizza and loved it - thin crust (my favorite) with a chewy center and crispy edges in all the right places. It had that perfect balance of texture and flavor. The kids' menu was solid too, which is always a win when dining with little ones. Our kids happily devoured the mac and cheese and chicken tenders. Between the quality of the food and the overall atmosphere, we would absolutely come back. We came as a group of 6 on Valentine's Day and waited three hours for our entrees and when they finally came, it was so gross. I've attached a picture of the lobster we were served... we can only assume it was microwaved? Very strange. They admitted they were overbooked and did not make us pay for dinner which was generous, but we would definitely not come back. read more

This was the worst expensive dinner we have ever had! Starting from our wedge salad that had chunks of bacon fat - no actual bacon. We literally picked out all the fat. It appeared as it was k tendió al the way it was cut up in cubes but it was awful. My husbands chicken dish was loaded with mega doses of salt and the vegetables served with it were soggy. We ordered pizza and it came out cold with cold cheese. The literally put chunks of cold cheese on top of it. The drinks were fine and the server was great. She was attentive and gave us good service. The hotel and restaurant are really nice and well decorated. Sadly, this place needs to hire a good chef. The food was a complete joke. read more

Not sure what is happening here but our service was horrible at best. I don't normally leave a bad review but there were so many problems that I feel I must. First off we ordered drinks that took over 25 minutes to get to the table and were barely tolerable at best. We needed to adjust at the table to make them drinkable . I had the cauliflower steak, which was nothing more than two small crowns for 24 dollars and the peach cobbler was nothing more than canned peaches with some toppings. One of our party ordered a drink with vodka NOT gin due to an allergy. The drink came and he said it had gin, server said no it is vodka, server asked bartender and sure enough it had gin. Hopefully by ski season they will work through the problems but at this point they are not ready for a full crowd. So sorry that our daughter paid for our dinner as the service and quality was so far below an acceptable level. read more

We had such high expectations after having exceptional cocktails and service in the speakeasy the night before; unfortunately, the restaurant just didn't deliver. Cocktails were not good; we had to doctor them ourselves to make them enjoyable. The biggest issue was that a gin allergy was very clearly communicated with a request for a vodka substitute. The drink served had gin. Concerns were communicated to management; he seemed receptive and apologetic. Each meal was beautifully plated but there were food quality flaws (gluey mashed potatoes and small, under seasoned cauliflower "steak", etc.). The short ribs, mushrooms, ravioli, and truffle app were great. Although our server seemed new, she was friendly and polite. She added a special extra touch for dessert because it was my birthday. We were disappointed by the long waits for cocktails and meals. After discussing the allergy issue with the manager he never returned to make sure everything else was ok. Everything at the Edwin was great. We ate here for breakfast and the morning views were stunning. I got the Montezuma Hash and it was super tasty. It had elk in it which I had never tried before.
