You typically choose a restaurant like this for exceptional food, a distinctive ambiance, or a memorable experience--ideally, all three. Unfortunately, it delivered on none of them. While the food was decent, nothing stood out as unique, refined, or complex. It was no better than what you'd expect from any competent mid-range restaurant, making the pricing and time difficult to justify. The experience itself was equally underwhelming. Service was inconsistent and inattentive, with forgotten plates, missed orders, and even drinks spilled during service--basic errors that shouldn't occur at this type of establishment. Such a lovely place. The inside ranch themed inside which is adorable. There is also a beautiful view of the lake and golf course and mountains. The server was knowledgeable about the food and welcoming. The women at the front was extraordinary! She welcomed us in and it was our engagement night and she made such a big deal offering to take photos and talking with us about everything. The food was wonderful as well. We got two ribeyes, the skillet potatoes, asparagus, and a chocolate moose dessert. The bread was also incredible. It is safe to say we were stuffed after. It was ok at best, but there are better options around, we were very disappointed they no longer have the soufflé. It was a highlight for many years. The Keystone Ranch is a hidden gem, just minutes away from the resort. We wanted to get drinks and watch the sunset before our dinner reservation, although the Colorado peaks were so tall that we had barely missed it. The bartender raised the blinds so we could get a clear view from the bar area. For miles you can see the snow and the beautiful mountain views. They have an extensive wine list and plenty of liquor choices, which everything can be seen on a digital menu. The servers explained the history of this ranch. They built around this fireplace, and luckily table was right next to it. We had the best seat in the house! The bread and butter was delicious. The butter tasted like it was freshly whipped and was accompanied with a jam. Enjoy the bread with the jam and butter combined. For apps we got the burrata, prawns, and the jumbo lump crab beignet was amazing!!! You must try this. It was so good that I had to order it to go! We tried the lamb chops, duck breast, scallops, and twice baked potatoes. Everything was full of flavor and was delicately plated. We had some pinot to accompany our main entrees. For dessert we tried the pumpkin cheesecake and the chocolate mousse! The drinks, food, and experience was worth every dollar. Sad to say this place has gone very downhill. At 7:30pm on a peak Saturday night, this place was more than half empty. My husband's ribeye was way overcooked and tough (should have been medium rare). Celebrated the Christmas holiday with family here during our Keystone vacation. Everything was amazing... first off, we were seated in front of a roaring fireplace that was the massive centerpiece of the room. The holiday decor was beautiful and understated and we quickly received our cocktails to set us up for the evening. Our waiter was phenomenal and gave helpful guidance and suggestions to help us choose excellent, complementary choices for our meals. Service was attentive but not rushed, and dinner was not only relaxed but also luxurious. We came for my birthday and I can say the food was fine. The highlight of the meal was the bread and butter. Brussels Sprouts were good, and the braised short rib was good- fairly bland in the grand scheme of meals. The dessert was great. Karen was our server and she was good no complaints. Really great meal and service, but definitely pricey. The highlights were the jumbo lump crab beignet and the pan roasted diver scallops. Others in my party got the dry aged wagyu tomahawk (this one was not worth the price in their opinion), brown butter roasted steelhead trout (this was pretty good), and truffle Mac and cheese (can definitely taste the truffle which is nice). We all shared the shuffle with pistachio anglaise as a dessert (worth getting in my opinion), and the chef brought out complimentary chocolates. Left super stuffed but happy. read more

Confusing that there appear to be 2 Yelp profiles for the Keystone Ranch restaurant, but this is one of our favorite places to dine while in the area and honestly one of our favorite restaurants anywhere, so I'll repost here as well. I can't believe this place only had 21 reviews at the time of this writing. This is a gem of a restaurant. It has a very charming rustic ambience. The quality of the food, drink, and service is excellent in my experience (I have dined here twice). I highly recommend the soufflé for dessert. The change to an à la crate menu is welcome. Yesterday, We planned reservations and entered the place. 5 minutes later, We got a very nice man waiter named Brandon. He immediately gave us our menu's. It was so small for all the neat new stuff that was on the menu! (Kids menu has 7 food choices) We got to pick beverages about 3 minutes later. All the stuff was different, but awesome tasting! If I had to guess, it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. You can get food multiple times, Which is not in any other places in almost the whole world, if I had to guess, because this is the first time me and my family got that option. Oh and I forgot to say, You can have up to 6 or 7 people in your party! Next that comes up is the dessert. During or after dessert you can have coffee or something else. Actually, you automatically get dessert without paying when it's dessert time! There is 4 tasty options. Sadly I forgot what they are. If you don't know which two options to choose, You get them mixed! On the way to the bathroom, there is photos from the place a long time ago. The salmon was just more thoroughly cooked than I prefer, I like it to be relatively rare. It's hard to find more fine dining in the Keystone area. This was on the list so we tried it. The restaurant itself is off the beaten path so definitely take some time to get there if it is snowing. The restaurant had a beautiful view. The restaurant was super packed, but there was a mix of couples and families. Their wine list had many varietal choices but they do not have a sommelier. We did order a bottle with the help of the waiter, but that always worries me as it is doubtful they have that extensive knowledge. The husband ordered a more expensive bottle on his recommendation which was a rookie move. We ordered several dishes to try. The food wasn't bad but there was nothing we ordered that we would come back for. The ahi crudo had some ridiculously hard seeds in it, so make sure you have a dentist on speed dial. The meatballs lacked salt. The pork belly was way too sweet. The beet salad was plain. The service was not bad but they definitely didn't clean all of your silverware between each course and I didn't have a knife for two of my courses. If they had another person to help, that would greatly elevate the experience. The move to the large living room and fireplace is a nice touch. Their desserts were good. It wasn't a bad meal and the staff were nice. But I think you will have to curb any expectations. read more

Wow! Wow! Wow! What an unexpected treat! Every bite of every dish was delicious! The service was delightful, and our waiter guided us through the menu so thoughtfully. We had the Crab Beignet, which was light and tasty. The Lobster Bisque was loaded with flavor, and richness. Our Mains were a triumph. My Husband loved his Bison Ribeye with Cowboy Butter, with Mushrooms and Asparagus (I kept s stealing his mushrooms). He loved every bite. I had the Salmon with Bernaise, Broccolini and Brussels Sprouts. The fish melted in my mouth, and the veggies were cooked and prepared perfectly. We were full, so we opted to take a S'mores type dessert back to our digs. We wish we had gotten 2! Light, and scrumptious. The only negative was their choice to put their wine menu on an iPad. Delicious meal for a special occasion, a 50th birthday dinner while we were on a ski trip. Highlights: Scott S. was an attentive, savvy server. The food was excellent and cooked to our preferences. The ambiance of the dining room was okay (we were in a chilly corner of a room off the main dining room, because it was a busy night) and the ambiance of the lounge and fireplaced 'great room' were wonderful. Here's what I loved about the meal: BRUSSELS SPROUTS! I swear, this is the first time I've ever looked under my other food for every last trace of a vegetable. Delicious. Also, steaks were excellent; not too heavily seasoned, just high quality local product, cooked perfectly to our liking. Between us we had a hanger steak, an aged ribeye, and a 10 oz beef tenderloin, all medium-rare. I also had the wedge salad, my husband had the marrow appetizer, and we all had dessert. I don't drink but my husband said the cocktails (thank you, PJ!) and the suggested wine (thank you, Scott!) were just right. Here's what I loved about Scott: 1) He knew the menu by heart, and could recommend things suitable to our tastes. 2) He made us feel welcome and attended to. 3) He has a great sense of service, balancing friendliness with efficiency. 4) He connected us a little with the history of the restaurant and with the new chef. 5) Scott is quick-witted and funny. I was skeptical about the whole "let's relocate you for dessert in the living room" concept*, but Scott found us a table with comfy seating, and we enjoyed a nice strong latte and a couple of desserts with the kids in their high-ceilinged great room. We got to watch the snow fall through the picture windows and watched two big hares chase each other across the snow. An excellent experience that we will hope to repeat next year! ~~~~~ * They have this down to a science, and Scott didn't move us away from the dinner table until he had a dedicated spot for our group in the living room. This was my first time visiting the Ranch since they changed from a coursed dinner to an a la carte resturant. We started with the Charcuterie and Cheese board and 6 oysters from the Hood Canal in Washington. Hands down, this was my favorite course. Every item felt crafted and the presentation was beautiful. I regret not taking more photos of the food! The rack of lamb was definitely the star of the show at our table. The choices of compound butters and sauces was a nice highlight, too. After moving into the room with the fireplace we had the peach and cardamon doughnuts to share. It was paired with a fig ice cream. "That's the best doughnut I've ever had" was said during this time. So I have no clue how this place doesn't have more raving reviews! This place provides you with an entire dining experience and more! Quiet rustic environment was so welcoming! Very spread out tables made the place feel entirely safe during this pandemic. The food was amazing, every ingredient was thought out! And the sides were very large portions not like most up scale restaurants! I had enough for two meals. The butter and Jam you get to start is to die for. I don't believe there was a sommelier but our server Catrina explained everything perfectly plus they have a table with all the bottles they have with descriptions and suggestions passed on your taste profile which was spot on for me! Catrina was very attentive as well. Oh and an on sight soufflé chef really topped the experience off. ITS A MUST TRY!!! The only down side if you call it a downside is that is truly off a beat path... leave some extra time to find it! And it's expensive $$$$ but you are getting what you are paying for here. read more

We had the most wonderful date night at Keystone Ranch. We took a night away from our kids and we are so glad we chose this restaurant. The wine list was on point, we had the nickel and nickel merlot which is absolutely delicious. The wagyu carpaccio was fantastic. Even the bread and whipped butter was delightful. We both had steaks and they were cooked to perfection with an impeccable sear and excellent seasoning. Sides were fantastic. The service was also excellent. Went in for dinner with my girls and had a lovely time. The lodge is simple and classic in decor. Started off with the house Old Fashioned and it was perfect. Super balanced and smooth. Appetizer was a delicious crab beignet with a watercress salad. As someone from the west coast, I was skeptical. The batter was light and filled with lots of succulent crab meat. Balanced beautifully with the bitter greens and light vinaigrette. Next I had the winter greens salad that had crisp Asian pears. It was a great start to the meal. Next I went with a 30-day dry aged ribeye out of South Dakota, topped with a blue cheese butter sauce and for my two included sides whipped potatoes and crispy brussel sprouts. The steak was cooked perfectly bringing out the complex flavors of the meat and marbling. It paired perfectly with the blue cheese that complemented the slight gaminess. Paired it with a delicious red wine. Best part of this restaurant, the experience is elevated by moving to a second location for dessert. You get to cozy up in a gorgeous room next to a fireplace under a large elk head. It's completely apropos to being in snowy mountains. I enjoyed the Grand Marnier souffle with a pistachio creme anglais and topped it off with an irish coffee for good measure. Our server was excellent and had incredible attention to detail. This place had good reviews so I booked it. Very glad I did. Fantastic! The service and food were top notch; attentive and delicious. But we kept seeing waiters escort guests through a closed door after they completed their meal. It wasn't the exit, where were they going? When we finished our dinner and the waitress asked us to collect our belongings and follow her. Down the hall and through a door into an old lodge like room with a cathedral ceiling and a massive roaring fireplace that also had large windows looking outside. Dinner and drinks are served here. What a smart way to complete the night. We spent another hour there relaxing. This restaurant is nice because it's a far enough drive down back roads at the mountain that it filters out most folks. Highly enjoyed our dinner here. Called ahead to ask for directions to make sure Google Maps showed the right location. Their instructions were highly helpful. (Part of the instructions was "you'll think to yourself you're in the middle of nowhere for part of the drive, and, well, you are". This actually helped preempted our concerns when we did indeed find ourselves in the darkness, with no street lights or any buildings for a few minutes.) We couldn't enjoy the views as our dinner reservation was after sundown. Restaurant itself felt very spacious yet cozy, warm and inviting. Servers were fantastic. As for food, we ordered two different types of steak and rack of lamb. My husband's steak and one of the two sides came out stone cold. But the cook was indeed medium rare. Before I could notify the server about the cold steak, my husband ate a substantial portion of it anyways. He didn't mind. But we did find it odd that the steak and broccolini were both really cold. The rest of our food was hot and perfect. Lamb and mushroom side were my favorites. And the soup of the day (corn bisque) was also wonderful, especially for the chilly day. After dinner, the server helped us relocate to the dessert room for desserts and coffee. Since the seats were first come first serve, we were able to move to a better location in front of the fireplace after some folks left. Sofas were comfortable but the height of the tables were a bit awkward for enjoying plated desserts. We had the soufflé (with pistachios) and deconstructed apple confit. Both were fantastic! We also had coffee and tea while we sat around, enjoying the fireplace. These were surprisingly cheap ($3). The teas came with refills. Large parking lot only steps away in front of the restaurant. They also offer valet parking. They charge $12 for splitting plates, but then you each get a very well plated plate. read more

The Ranch was a big disappointment, particularly for the very high prices. It has a ton of potential based on the ambiance and setting, but the food and service were mediocre at best. I don't mind paying allot for a great meal, but it's frustrating to pay allot for mediocrity. We started with a charcuterie plate which had a nice selection. However, our server didn't provide a serving knife or bread. When we pointed it out her response was, "They should have included that." It cost $27, so yes, Sherlock, they should have. How about getting some for us? Took 5 minutes before we saw her again. I had the Waygu flatiron steak. It came out room temperature, and was slightly warmer than my cold cream corn side. The steak was over salted and tasted like brine. I am a huge steak fan and this was the first time I left half on my plate. My daughter ordered her first surf and turf. For an extra $20 they overcooked a frozen lobster tail and didn't take it out of the shell so we had to saw at it to get the meat out. Her steak was prepped better and her sides were warm, so that was a plus. Our server stopped by a few times, but seemed generally disinterested in being there. The 2 stars are for ambiance, and because my wife's lamb chops were very, very good. If you go, order the charcuterie and the lamb and skip the rest, or order it to go--you'll get more attentive service at home. read more

We had the ribeye and it's as good as it gets, they have multiple different sauces. I would say the Cowboy Butter is the way to go. Deserts were easily a Michelin rating.
