The menu is very exciting. The service is mediocre. Over the weekend I was attending an event at OSU, so we walked down for lunch. I was very excited when I saw the menu. It looks great. Lots of new, innovative things. Especially excited was I when I realized the first sandwich that caught my eye was on a spinach wrap - I don't eat gluten. Perfect. Unfortunately, after ordering, we waited an hour before we got our food. I was an organizer of the event, so I was with the guest speaker, and we needed to be back on time to let the attendees back into the building and resume the workshop. So waiting an hour was not something that was ok. During one of the many times we stopped back inside to see what was taking so long, we were told that "1 hour is the usual wait on a Saturday." I find this ridiculous. What I find more ridiculous is that it was told to us 45 minutes after we ordered, as if it were ridiculous that we weren't expecting a 1 hour wait. We ended up having to get the food to go, and we made it back half an hour after the workshop was supposed to resume. Our presenter didn't get to eat until 5 because he didn't want to waste more time people had paid to spend learning from him. My wrap was disappointingly tiny for the 9 dollars it cost. Additionally, I had ordered it without onions, and it definitely had onions - when you mess up by making customers wait an hour, you don't mess up on little details like this. You don't have that room for error. I ordered a goat cheese and turkey wrap which came with raspberry vinaigrette and greens. I love goat cheese, and I expected this to be a wrap with slightly bland turkey highlighting the strong flavor of goat cheese (which needs something slightly bland to background it), with a dash of different flavor to set everything off (the way a little bit of salt makes a melon's flavor explode). What I got was minimal goat cheese, bland turkey whose blandness I could taste because their was too little goat cheese, and a ton of raspberry vinaigrette. It didn't taste very good. I will probably give it another chance because the menu is so crazy. But I will only go at non-standard times, because apparently this is a location that assumes their customers are willing and ready to wait an exorbitant amount of time without being warned (even at Bob Evans they let customers know if it will be more than a 10 minute wait...). But I wasn't impressed by the service, and I definitely wasn't impressed enough with the food to make up for it. read more

Visited Katalina's cafe for the first time today. Pretty much everything good about Katalina's that could be said, has already been said on here. We tried three different sandwiches, Fig & prosciutto, Avocado & Bacon w/fig jam, and Mozarella and tomato. Have to say, the mozarella & tomato was probably my favorite of all 3. The fresh mozzarella, walnut basil pesto combination was perfect for a warm summer day. There are several other interesting sandwich options which will bring me back here for sure. I wish there was more indoor seating at this place since it seemed pretty tiny on the inside. Also, all the sandwiches seemed abt 9 bucks, a little pricey me thinks. read more

5 stars for the food, 3 or so for the overall experience. We went on a Sunday, early afternoon, so that contributed. It's a very small place, with some seating inside and more outside. There's a nice parking lot next door, but between people acting like idiots in that, and some rudeness at the restaurant itself (from patrons, not staff,) we weren't exactly smiling the whole time. Still, the food was great. Sweetie had pancake balls with strawberry filling; I had the pork and egg sandwich. We both had bacon- regular, and sweet & spicy. Bacon was very good. Pancake balls were pretty good. My sandwich ranks up there with the best I've ever had. Great bread, great pork, egg, avocado, etc. We also had watermelon lemonades, which were outstanding. We'll be back, but at a quieter time. read more

Thought it was pricey and food average. Got the huevos rancheros and they were too choppy and not a lot of sauce or huevos. Also got the pancake Nutella balls. They were ok. My wife got the migas and a watermelon lemonade. 38.70 plus tip read more

Oh yeah! I never get tired of trying new breakfast places. It sure is a good thing we don't live in Columbus. I would be gaining some weight because of this place. We stopped here on our way through Columbus one morning at the beginning of a road trip. Sean had the Mexican french toast and I had the breakfast tacos. Both amazing. The french toast comes with their signature sweet and spicy bacon which was so so unique and excellent! It really has a little heat to it but yet tastes sweet at first. Never had anything like it. Yum! The breakfast tacos have a chorizo/egg mixture, cheese, avocado, and salsa. The tortillas are actually real corn tortillas also, not just your basic flour tortilla. Very flavorful and excellent. The coffee is self serve and they give you a to-go type cup so you can drink it while at your table and fill up for the road. The lunch sandwich options all sounded amazing too. We loved this place and when in Columbus, we'll definitely be back. read more

We stopped by Katalina's Cafe Corner on a lazy Saturday morning after reading a great review in the paper. Breakfast is my favorite meal so my expectations were high! I went with the breakfast tacos...three tacos with "veggie" chorizo, eggs, their secret hot sauce, salsa, avocado, and cheese with a side of hash browns. There is a guarantee that if you don't like them, you get your money back...yeah, they probably don't give refunds very often! I have my eyes on the Latin pancake balls on our next visit... read more

Tucked away on a back street, Katalina's has the comforting feeling of a locals only diner with an airy and modern vibe that attracts a younger and trendier crowd. I've heard the lines can be gruesome during peak hours, with people crowded all around your table waiting to order or sit, so I'm glad we came on a weekday. Late morning and during the week the place seemed more spacious, with only a few students and a family seated. Indoor seating is extremely scarce, but if its nice enough outside the patio is a better option anyway. The menu is sort of like your basic bakery sandwich and breakfast fair, but with a slightly modern and upscale twist. Seems like there are a lot of vegetarian options as well. The service was fast and friendly, the only disappointment was that my over-easy eggs were cooked completely solid- which in my book means your eggs are ruined- but overall the flavors were on point, and let's face it I ate the eggs, overcooked or not. read more

Their pulled pork sandwich was awesome!!!! It was so busy you knew it had to be good. The scrambled eggs which is a new menu... Kind of boring because all you are eating is a bunch of egg... No meat. Somebody absolute best breakfast in the city there their side options and desert options are really good it's a neat location in the heart of Italian village or it might be Victorian village I may be mistaken either way they have a cute patio and I think they've opened up a couple other locations throughout the city I know there's one in Clintonville I absolutely love their tacos and their Mexican street corn. read more

Awesome , constant, great sandwiches tried a few things on the menu we were in Columbus for a month everything was amazing!

My husband and I visited on a Monday at 12:30 PM and were pleased to find parking in the lot behind the restaurant (free parking for Katalina's customers!). The patio was full but we found a small table inside. The walls, tables, shelves, and chairs are all covered with paint-marker graffiti. It has a hipster, dive feel. The food was amazing. I loved the avocado toast and the breakfast tacos were so good. We will likely be visiting again! read more

Amazing as always. I love how rustic decors and the writing over the walls and the tables. They are famous for their nutella pancake balls, but you honestly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. I do not have a sweet tooth so my personal favorite is the sunrise sammy sandwich. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. They also have fresh orange juice, which is super refreshing. Highly highly recommend! read more

I ventured to Katalina's for the first time during Monday morning breakfast hours. After reading other reviews, I was so excited to try Katalina's but also nervous it would be too crowded for our party of 3. Luckily there were lots of open tables outside and it was a nice day! The breakfast menu had about 10 options and they all sounded SO good! I finally decided on the breakfast burrito and it was great!! The pancake balls were very tempting, and will definitely be my next choice when I return to Katalina's! The coffee from Stauf's was serve yourself which I liked. My burrito was so big I ended up taking half of it home. The prices at Katalina's were just about right for the quality and quantity. Also, there is lots of parking behind the restaurant, and you don't have to pay that weird outdated coin machine thing. I can't wait to take my friends here!! read more

I have to admit, this place is adorable inside. I really enjoy the atmosphere and the interior design...felt like I was in New york city for a split second with the crowd. If you plan to come for brunch/lunch..prepare to queue up and wait for 15 min and that doesn't guarantee a table after you order. (quick tip: have a friend save a table while you order ). They have a parking lot and street parking is free between a certain time. I got the Mazatlan Slow-Roasted Pork and Egg and it came out in a pretty avg wait time. The meat was full of flavor, tender, and juicy. The avocado was a bit old and hard...probably kept it in the fridge for too long. I did find an eyelash or someone's super short hair in my egg which threw me off because that's a FIRST. I would come back despite the hard avocado and eyelash! read more

Let's start with the bacon. It comes with the order of their pancake balls. The bacon is sweet and savory with a little kick all at the same time. We are convinced that the thick bacon is marinated in some sort of hickory smoke sauce. It is so good that my husband ate all his and stole half of mine while I was busy with the smoked pulled pork sandwich. I can't believe that he stole my bacon. A lot of yelpers already mentioned their pancake balls, so I won't repeat myself too much here. It is very good. I like mine in strawberry with a dip of whipped cream. A good amount of sweet but not drowning yourself in syrup kind. After 2 orders of pancake balls for just 2 of us, I can't possibly consume another bite. But here it is - smoked pulled pork with egg sandwich. I guess it is possible now. Oh boy....Crusty bread with fried egg, pulled pork and roasted red pepper. The texture is amazing. I got a to-go box with the rest of my sandwich and nibbled it for the rest of the afternoon. I almost forgot, their water is not bottled. It is boxed! It is sustainable packaging. Plus one for them!! read more

Veggie sausage and gravy is my favorite thing so far. The brussel sprouts are my favorite side, seriously, just try them, you'll be happy you did, what if you don't like brussel sprouts? Well prepare to be a fan, they're a game changer. Chorizo tacos are a pretty good, the order comes with three, which is a good amount for brunch. They also come with a spicy corn on the cob, yes its actually spicy, yes it's good. I ordered these to-go once and I'd say, skip these for to-go. They don't reheat well at all and the taco shell can't handle the wait, they like to be eaten fresh out of the kitchen. Still waiting to try these pancake balls... read more

I live two blocks away from here which is both a blessing and a curse. This place is an Amazing place for brunch with mostly outdoor seating. I definitely recommend coming here on the earlier side because it can get really crowded and busy during typical brunch hours. My friends and I tried their Nutella pancake balls, spicy bacon, famous tacos, avocado toast, and orange juice. All of it was superb. Their spicy bacon was my favorite, it was sweet, spicy and crispy. The spicy bacon came with the pancake balls, which was actually not too sweet and overall very delicious. However it's portion wasn't that filling though and would definitely recommend it not as main entree but as an extra side. The tacos and avocado toast was alright, all good but not holy shit amazing like the bacon and pancake balls. Definitely excited to come back and try their other brunch foods :) read more

It's always crowded but worth the wait (the line moves pretty quick, just pick your order while waiting). Both the atmosphere and food are fresh and unique. Parking available is also a huge plus. Definitely try the pancake balls if you have a sweet tooth, and the biscuit balls if not! My favorite item that I've tried here was the Southern Fried Salata...not a big salad person but I still think about this one from time to time. I don't usually enjoy small or crowded places, but the vibe at Katalina's is really one-of-a-kind! read more

Went today to celebrate my birthday with my in-laws. I knew the place was small and you usually have to wait so I was mentally prepared for that. There is a small lot next door for parking. While waiting in line a table came open so I went and snagged it. If I hadn't done that I think we would have been out of luck cause there's very little seating. The line did not slow down the time we were there. I wanted so badly to love this place. I got their fried chicken sandwich and corn on the cob. They were just both ok. However I did get an order of the pancake balls and those were quite tasty. I'd definitely go back again to try those. read more

Loved it! Best coffee too. Highly recommend the spicy bacon, quite a delightful treat.

Two stars being that the staff was friendly. Came in for the first time today, ordered one order of pancake balls, a sandwich, and a drink... there are no prices on their menu so I was shocked to see my order surpassed $50. Decent food, not worth $50. They also recommend tipping 20% for someone to ring in my three items which took a solid 20 seconds. Pretty disappointing. read more

I discovered Katalina's when I started working third shift. I would get out of work, hungry and starved for conversation, so I started researching places that open very early and Yelp pointed me in this direction. Katalina's exterior is unique. The name is in red and lit up in bulbs, so it's hard to pass even if you were born with an awesome lack navigational skills, like I was. Located in Harrison West, it seems a little out of place: it looks like it was transplated from Arizona or LA. That's one of the reasons why I like it! I absolutely love eating breakfast in their patio in the summer as it feels like a mini vacation. The menu is pretty diverse. I love their sandwiches, but as I work third shift, I am mainly going to focus on their breakfasts. If you're looking to break up the monotony of your typical breakfast foods, I suggest you try the chocolate pancake balls. They're balls made from pancake batter, filled with Nutella and deep-fried. I only wish I had slightly more patience and had not consumed them as soon as the waiter sat my plate down, as they were HOT. A little overpriced for the serving size, but worth a try if you're a foodie such as myself. They also have amazing French toast, which is my favorite breakfast food. I normally do not eat meat, but I loved the sweet-and-spicy bacon they served with my French toast. Although I must say, every time I have asked for it "As crispy as possible" and have gotten some pretty limp bacon. Stil, it's delicious. If you're going to try this place just once my favorite breakfast dish at this establishment is the breakfast burrito. UGH, they're so good: bacon, mushrooms, egg...add a bit of Sirachia sauce and it's phenomenal. It comes with hash browns (a very small portion) and a very small cup of salsa. Most of the breakfast meals are under ten bucks, and I think you get your money's worth! I also like that Katalina's works with local producers, and if you're going to destroy your cholestrol score you may as well support the local economy so there's an upside to it. This is definitely food you want to enjoy sober, so save the hung-over-and-hungry binges for the places offering greasy comfort food. read more

I journeyed to Katalina's today with my mother in celebration of Mother's Day. We were very pleased with our experience. The restaurant opened early, at 8am, and even then there was a line of people, which spoke volumes of the restaurant's reputation. The restaurant is small and intimate (with maybe 4 tables and 7 bar seats inside). The ambiance is somewhat eclectic and hipster-ish, with hard wood floors, chalk board menus, and brightly colored stools. I got the breakfast tacos which are phenomenal. They were accompanied with corn on the cob. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a unique breakfast spot. read more

I have now eaten at Katalina's three times and would highly recommend it, especially if you have a sweet tooth. The menu items are unique and freshly prepared with high quality ingredients. I have tried both the Original Pancake Balls and the Southern Brown Betty Biscuit Balls. Both have a crisp exterior, tender middle, and sweet interior. I was a little disappointed that the apple butter in the biscuit balls overwhelmed the ham and cheddar. My favorite dish was the Mazatlan Slow-Roasted Pork and Egg Sandwich. This is a large sandwich with very tender, flavorful pork. I would highly recommend it, just be careful if you on your way to work, it can be messy. read more

I had the pork egg sandwich and it was seriously so good. I only ate half because it was huge. My husband had the breakfast tacos. So good! Between the two of them, we both had different favorites! The food is bright, healthy and consistently delicious. Would have eaten outside but it was 90 degrees. Staff is awesome, helpful and friendly ; ) I brought a friend in today who had not been to Katalina's. I didn't realize that patrons have the option to write on/mark up the tables where they're sitting. The markers have a very overwhelming smell, almost like spray paint. All I could smell throughout my meal was the markers coming from the table next to us. I could hardly taste my food, I lost my appetite. Food great, markers terrible. read more
