Fantastic place for brunch! I had the breakfast tacos which were flavorful, not too spicy & portioned perfectly! On a sweeter side, my fiancé had the pancake balls with multiple flavor options (Nutella, apple pumpkin butter, etc). It is an order at the counter & take a number kind of place. Parking is on the street in the surrounding area. read more

I had the country egg sandwich with pesto and prosciutto. Delicious! We arrived at 8:30 on Sunday morning and ended up sitting outside. Luckily, it wasn't too chilly. My mom and husband had the pancake balls; she had strawberry filled and he had dulce de leche filled. I tasted both and they were yummy. I did not try the sweet and spicy bacon, but there is always next time... read more

I love Katalina's! Quaint little joint with not much seating inside - but a great place to patio sit if the weather allows. I have only been for lunch a few times, but I am just 100% sold on their breakfast offerings. Everything is absolutely delicious! Personal favorites are the Country Egg Sandwich and the Sweet and Spicy Cinnamon Rolls. For lunch I am partial to the Fig and Prosciutto sandwich - SO GOOD! Everyone here is super friendly and provides great service! My advice for weekends is to either arrive super early or pick up your breakfast to go. Unless, of course, it's a beautiful day like today and the patio is calling your name! read more

How can you not try a place with a slogan like "Peace, Love and Pancake Balls"! We got pancake balls, of course...they were good & particularly liked the sweet n spicy bacon that it came with. Looking forward to going back to try other menu items too. read more

Ordered takeout lunch from Katalina's. They have a small but good selection for breakfast and lunch. Had the pulled pork sandwich and it was amazing. The place has a really cool vibe and I definitely want to come back for breakfast. There is limited seating inside and a large patio for warmer weather. Parking is available next door. read more

Four stars because only in the most "progressive" city in Ohio can you be so casually racist by naming a sandwich after an entire ethnic group. The Latina sandwich. Por que?? On a brighter, less woke note that will pep up this review, how freaking bomb are those breakfast tacos? I'm vegan- ish and I always sub veggie sausage. The elote is good too, at least by midwestern standards. I like it. I like it a lot. I hope they consider how wild the name is. Something tells me Katalina's gringa sandwich wasn't a contender. Ethnicity and culture are not a costume or clever marketing ploy amigos. But I am here for that elote. read more

Luckily I had a chance to come in before the line was out the window! I had the famous pancake balls will an apple filling. It was amazing and I loved the rustic design of the restaurant & the parking outside (there's actually a lot, so street parking isn't required!). I definitely want to come here again & try everything else on the menu! read more

Gotta love some pancake balls; plain or filled will peace, love and yumminess! My kids ate two orders. Their bourbon maple syrup was so good. I had the huevos rancheros, it had a different take but was really good. I liked how the sauces were soaked into the chips. Can't wait to come back to sit outside and try their tacos! read more

Cool place to get some brunch and the food is very good. I'd like to see them have more vegan options in the menu. Somethings I didn't like...one of the women working was rude and told us we couldn't sit down until we ordered. Since when is that a rule? It's not like we were camped out here all day. We grabbed a table to put our stuff down and then wanted to order. Also their whole marketing scheme of having "ethically sourced meat" is a total joke. There is no such thing as ethical meat. How do you ethically kill an animal that didn't want to die? Serve meat all you want but don't label it as ethical just so you can get more business and make people feel better about their eating choices. I got their avocado toast and it was good except missing a lot of avocado. They put a very thin layer of a whipped avocado spread. No real layer of avocados. The avocado sauce I'll call it was so thin you could see the bread through it. I would come back because it is a cool place to meet up with people but would only come back when it's warmer since they have seating outside and barely any inside. read more

Holy Pancake Balls. We don't come into town as much as we would like but added this onto my yelp must try list and this was our first stop to eat. I ordered the pancake balls without hesitation and when she named all the different fillings all I heard was Pumpkin Apple Butter. Its October, its practically a sin to not get that right? I was not disappointed..AT ALL. Everyone at the table tried one and all had that same "close your eyes and melt back into the chair" look. The guys had sandwiches, I took a bite of the pork and egg (im not sure what it was called) but It was delish!! I wasn't overly thrilled with the sweet n spicy bacon, but to each their own!! Love that they have so many unique and fresh LOCAL items. Will stop in again for sure! read more

Katalina's - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

You may have heard Katalina's ads on CD102.5 about their famous pancake balls, and their somewhat nebulous connection to Oddfellows liquor bar. If you, like me have heard this and thought "Pancake balls? how good can that be?" the answer is that Katalina's has perfected pancakes with a brilliant brunch, bringing boring baked goods into a bold new era of amazing alliteration. This place is an unassuming gem tucked away in the short north, right by Zeno's Bar. There's a little parking lot that costs money (5$ all day passes) or parking on the street which is free from 5a to 5p, after 5p it's permit C. You walk into Katalina's and you're already right in the thick of things. It's a cramped space with the kitchen, cashier, mis en place and drink station all right on top of one another. There's a chalkboard menu and a little shoppe, peddling the various flavors of the place but the first thing you'l notice is the Smell. Oh the Beautiful smell of the place! We came in to Katalina's and the place was filled with the greatest waft of seared sausage. Some kind of incredible blend of chorizo and fire filling the place with an absolutely mouthwatering aroma. We could barely wait to get our food. The fact that the kitchen is right by the door really hooks you with just this beautiful smell. Pancake Balls. They are perfect. I got the Dulce De Leche flavor which were filled with a hot, sticky molten caramel (purchasable at the shoppe) and wow. The ball shape is more than just a novelty. I've always been a weirdo when it comes to pancakes. Something about the tactile experience of a warm fluffy cake in the morning means I forgo forks and knives and hand shred the poor guys. Now that Katalina's has balled everything up, sealing in the gooey caramel with a layer of crispy, buttery sear, man oh man I was hooked. The Sweet and Spicy Candied Bacon is thick cut and tasty. Next time I might ask for it a little well done since it came out just shy of crispy. There used to be fighting in the streets of my last hometown (Madison, WI) over which joint has the thickest juiciest bacon and I think Katalina's would certainly hold their own in the bacon wars. Where from all this do I get 4 stars you ask? It's kind of pricey for brunch. Pancake balls are 11.25, which I understand is a complete price for 6 delicious balls and 2 slices of bacon, but honestly brunch at a place with no waiters (although the staff was courteous and accommodating) it's kind of steep. I would easily shell out a fiver for 3-4 pancake balls a la carte and add that to one of their excellent breakfast plates like Huevos Rancheros or something, but sadly this is not an option (at least not one that is listed). Saving this place for special brunching occasions and the like, but man if I could save a little green at the pancake pump. read more

Katalina's - The feel of the place is intimate - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

One of the best breakfast places I've ever been to. Best breakfast spot in Columbus hands down. All the ingredients are local, fantastic, and fresh. I decided to start my day with a breakfast chick'nwich. Holy. Moly. A massive local chicken breast, tastefully breaded with a scrumptious concoction of both savory and spicy spices, served on a soft and fresh ciabatta roll covered in local Amish cheese, all topped with a perfectly cooked sunny side up egg, oh and a perfect dash of Franks Red Hot! Sorry for the run on but got dang that was amazing. 20 minutes later and my taste buds are still tingling. Katalinas was busy, rightfully so, yet I still received my food promptly and with A1 service. Breakfast and lunch done right, with a real Hispanic flare. A must go. read more

Where to start... The coffee is STRONG (and worth buying a bag to bring home). The pancake balls are phenomenal and super kid friendly. I wasn't in love with the Southern Brown Betty Biscuit Balls, BUT that was a personal preference and everyone else at my table loved them. The atmosphere was awesome and the staff was nice and efficient. We'll definitely be back! read more

OK so don't let the long line fool you- it goes by pretty quick. I stopped here on a Sunday with about 25 people in line a head of me. This is one of those places where you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The line probably took 20 minutes or less and the food came out relatively fast- hot & fresh! I got the breakfast tacos and they were good. I loved the avocado and the creama on top. It was also served with a side of Mexican corn on the cobb with some type of cheese powder on it. I wasn't feeling it for an early morning breakfast, but this would be a great little brunch/lunch spot. My husband got the pancake balls with Nutella and those were out of this world. They even had ones stuffed with pumpkin cream so for all you basic girls out there you better come here this fall!!! Lastly, most of the items here seem to be organic, which makes me feel better about my breakfast choice. They also have lots of options for vegetarian and vegan friends so there are plenty of choices for everyone! read more

Delicious little 'hole in the wall'. Now I understand why this place is always busy and the line is out the door. If you are going for brunch, go early, otherwise you will be waiting in line for a while and there will be nowhere to sit. I had their 'famous' breakfast tacos and added vegetarian sausage and they were wonderful. Very flavorful. We sat outside on the artsy patio- it was perfect outside in the sun. The side of corn you get is yummy too. Although I wasn't a fan of the cheese? on top of the corn. Can't wait to try this place again! read more

I used to work right down the street from this place and would eat here almost daily. They have creative and flavorful sandwich options as well as a killer brunch spread. The Nutella Pancake Balls are the bomb and the Pueblo BLT Sandwich is fantastic! The Sweet'n'Spicy Bacon is without a doubt the best bacon you will ever eat. I have been tempted to order just a platter full of the bacon alone. Would definitely recommend getting here early if you're interested in brunching it up, because it crowds up pretty fast and they don't have a ton of seating options. read more

Katalina's is in a super cute neighborhood and has an atmosphere to match. It was colorful and summery with great service. I love lowkey breakfast spots, and it featured goodies from my college town like Shagbark chips and peach jam!! I had the Vegetarian Biscuit Balls and it was the BEST breakfast. They were full of yummy cheese and previously mentioned spicy, peachy jam plus some eggs on the side. Great price and portion sizes. I also had some freshly squeezed blood orange juice which was delicious. read more

Seeking brunch on a Monday. Skillet is closed. Next in line: Katalina's I honestly did not read any reviews, view any pictures, or read anything on this joint other than the hours, so I took a real chance on this place hoping that Yelp would not fail me. It did not. I really had no idea this place existed. I never heard it mentioned in conversations, or saw reviews pop up too often for the place. It sits snuggly in Victorian Village just a hop and skip from Olentangy River rd. The place was filled to the brim with students, fab hipster, and Yuppie families. Normally I would be like... catch you later, but the place itself was too interesting, and to be honest, I was starving. There's parking in the back here, or if you're lucky, the possibility of street parking. There's still an old pay booth... just ignore it. Katalina's is free parking during their hours of operation. The place is pretty much self-service, so walk inside, place your order, take your number and grab a seat. Entertain yourselves, as the restaurant is your canvas with the crappy paint markers supplied on nearby tables - write obscenities, share your love interest, or your relationship status. Real enthusiasts would probably bring their own for some real fun. And before you know it, the food has arrived. It looks just as wonderful as it is going to taste. I picked the Hens in a basket (Eggy in a basket) - It was superb. The sour dough was toasted to perfection, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the menagerie of greens they supply you are subtly delicious while adding a bit of extra zing to the artistic brunch before your eyes. Add some sweet and spicy bacon and you've got an excellent brunch. The husband was not as enthusiastic. He ordered the French toast, so perhaps steer clear of mediocrity and order something a little more exciting. The sandwiches here looked amazing. For a Monday this place was really hopping, and almost borderline packed. I can't even fathom the weekends at this place. It must be sheer chaos. I'll have to make certain my excursions stay on Weekdays only, despite the spoiled child in me wants to go back this weekend already. Our brunch was on the pricier side of $30 - So this ain't your Mama's country diner with cheap pricing. But man, oh man, it's worth it. (thumbs up) read more

this restaurant is for someone who is looking for cold and flavorless food with a side of disappointment. if you're coming for a mexican breakfast, turn around immediately. there is no flavor, the ingredients advertised were not present in the meal, and honestly taco bell breakfast is better. the Mexican French Toast was just plain old regular french toast. there was no special "north market spices tamarind sugar", it was just powdered sugar. and the toast wasn't brioche, it was regular whole wheat toast. we got the Veggie Sausage instead of bacon and those were gross too. they were sweet and chunky. these are not fake or beyond meat, they are made of barely cooked lentils. the Fried Chicken Sandwich was small. the only flavors on the sandwich were the cold, bland fried chicken and sweet corn slaw. there was no taste of the "north market spices nashville hot chicken spice" and no "cooper's mill peach-habañero jam". the ms. katalina's migas was bland as heck. the Avocado Toast was cold and flavorless. the pepitas were not spiced, as advertised. there was no house made peri-peri sauce. there were no queso fresco or green onions. the shark bag tortilla chips were stale. the only thing that was 75% okay was the blood orange juice. the ambiance is cute. they have cute decor and i like the menu on the wall. the service went pretty quick considering we went on a sunday at brunch time. good luck to those who dare. read more

First time visitor but this was a disappointment. It's a quaint neighborhood setting so that aspect is nice. But the food and beverage is priced at a stout premium and didn't deliver in my case with the Mexican French Toast, bacon and coffee. The bread used for the toast was excellent but the toppings were overdone (for my taste - subjective), particularly the tamarind. My order was delivered without bacon which required a second visit to the order station - an annoyance. Had to discuss that I had already paid for the bacon - but it was soon delivered. If you're a pancake or French toast aficionado, the bacon and coffee need to be present together- and hot - to be enjoyed optimally as a morning trifecta. But my greatest peeve was that the large creamer carafe for the coffee was evidently not fresh as I encountered the mini curdled effect in the cup. Expletive. Juan Valdez would give two thumbs down. Given that the creamer is in a community carafe in the fridge, I just let it go and grabbed a coffee at another spot after. I would recommend individual Half & Half containers date stamped to avoid this first world tragedy. I would not repeat. YMMV read more

This review is long overdue! I love everything about this place! Amazing food and excellent service! I tend to prefer savory breakfast foods, but please do yourself a favor and order their famous Pancake Balls with dulce de leche! OMG, seriously get in my belly! There are so many more menu items I want to try but I can't stop with the tacos! Maybe next time I'll order something different. :) I'd also like to thank Tyler at the Harrison West location for his exceptional service! Katalina's is the kind of place you'd catch on some Food Network show where a zany host travels to unexpected cities and finds all of their quirky, fun, well-loved restaurants-- you know, the kind you see and think, "Why don't we have places like that?" Except you do. It's Katalina's. The itty bitty building that Katalina's occupies is overflowing with good food and eager diners. As you've probably read from other reviews, there's always a line, even on a rainy day. It moves fast, you'll survive, it's just part of the experience. You order at the counter and take a number to the table of your choice, which is likely outdoors. While you wait, you're free to doodle on the tables (or chairs or walls or trash cans or whatever you see in need of your artwork) with paint pens. I can only speak to the breakfast options, but I really, highly doubt this place could go wrong for any meal. If you're debating what to order, the breakfast tacos are a classic, and they're really perfect in about every way. Their watermelon mint lemonade is suuuuper refreshing and worth the price. Everything feels fresh and joy-inducing and exciting. read more
