I did delivery and I want to say I want to give this place more of a 3.5, since I wasn't wowed by any of the food that I ordered. The quality was good, but didn't taste anything extraordinary. Sushi Pizza - When I saw this, I was imagining something similar to Bond St Sushi and this wasn't anything like that at all. I didn't think the toppings worked well together. Yellowtail Ponzu - Standard Pork Gyoza - standard as well Ecstasy Roll (king salmon, white tuna and avocado with fatty tuna and wasabi crackers and toasted garlic on the outside with wasabi balsamic sauce) - I ordered this one because I love garlic and fatty tuna, so why wouldn't I like this roll? I didn't care for this combination, it didn't do anything for me. It was just too much, none of the flavours complemented each other. This was the only roll that I saw that I thought would be good, since other rolls that I saw had one ingredient that I didn't want and A doesn't like kani, and so this is why I picked this roll. Ikura - good, and glad to know it didn't come slimy, since I have ordered from new sushi spots that were questionable. Spicy Tuna Avocado Salad - I am not sure if people are familiar with Friend's House back in EV. I used to live a couple of blocks from there and I was in love with their spicy salmon avocado salad, but their version, the fish was minced rather than cubed. Originally, I was going to put in a tartar dish, but glad I removed it, because not sure what the difference would have been between tartar and this dish. I didn't want the fish to be minced into a big blob. There wasn't any dressing either and so I was just disappointed, because I was imagining cubed tuna with spicy dressing. Wasabi Crackers - I thought this was going to be like house-made wasabi coloured crackers, but instead I believe they used those wasabi flavoured seaweed snack that you can see at Asian grocery stores and topped minced salmon on top. I felt things started tasting the same. Jumbo Shumai - I liked this dish, since they offered the jumbo version of the regular shumai. However, I do prefer this place over Bozu, but I probably would just stick with the standard items, since the specialty items are just not that special. read more

My coworkers kept talking about sushi, so by the time I got to KanaHashi, I was starving and overordered: miso soup, tempura, and Tobiko King specialty roll. I was in an "eat my feelings" mood. Unfortunately, the tempura tasted previously frozen and the oil did not have a clean taste - I should've skipped it. The Tobiko King roll is admittedly over the top with spicy tuna, softshell crab, eel, and seaweed salad inside, drizzled in spicy mayo and unagi sauce. It was extremely salty, and I didn't even use soy sauce. I drank a lot of water and ate all the pickled ginger trying to balance it out. KanaHashi is good in a pinch, and the service was excellent, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

This is a a great sushi spot. It's delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is very friendly and service is fast. We ordered the beef gyoza and yellowtail ponzu for appetizer. Both were delicious. Everyone raves about this spot but I really feel like the quality has significantly dropped recently. We ordered takeout and my husband had a hair that came with his sushi roll. Things happen but it's really unsettling when you're indulging in raw sushi that you expect to hygienically prepared. We found KanaHashi through Doordash and them came to Yelp to verify that it really was a good spot to order sushi from. The reviews were more than reassuring, so we went for it. I haven't had sushi since early March, which is a very long time for me. KanaHashi was a great choice to break that covid-caused fast. We ordered pork gyoza, seared white tuna with truffles, salmon, white tuna, and mackerel sashimi, and rolls of spicy salmon, salmon, white tuna, and yellowtail scallion. I knew everything would be great after my first bite of gyoza. That's how good it was. The seared white tuna and truffle sauce had a unique flavor and was a special Friday night treat. The fish was all fresh and packaged well for delivery. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the sashimi pieces as well. The only barrier to full marks was that the yellowtail scallion roll was left off the order. It looks like it was missed on the order print out, as it was on the back side. I got the house salad, Halloween roll, and a tuna roll with cucumber and avocado. The ginger salad didn't really taste like anything. The dressing had almost no flavor. The Halloween roll was suppose to have Kani salad inside but it was more like a California roll with very lightly seared salmon on top. The tuna roll was good, simple. read more

BIG fan of KanaHashi during Covid. My personal favorite is the Maki Combo lunch special - a solid choice for anyone looking to fill up on some good hand rolls. I usually go with the Hot White Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, and the Shrimp Tempura roll. It's clear that KanaHashi prioritizes using fresh ingredients, as the fish never tastes off, and the vegetable ingredients are always crisp. I've only really tried the sushi, but based off of the quality of the rolls I've had, I'm eager to order some of the hot items from the kitchen. I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Made reservations but the restaurant wasn't full anyway. It seems like a lot of locals come here. The table next to me said she came here many times and everything is always really fresh. I ordered a kani salad to start and it was a very generous size. Followed by their maki combo where you get a choice of 2 regular rolls + one special roll for $20. In reality , the combo only saves you $2-3 depending on what you select. Not only wonderful, welcoming service and a modern design but by far the best value sushi restaurant in the Greenpoint-LIC area! We were going to a sushi restaurant closer to our home but didn't really notice either the staff or the chefs appreciating it was already like the 6th time we were there since they opened 4 months ago. So, we tried something different and went to KanaHashi one night. We were warmly welcomed, the chefs were in a good mood but professional and the menu had a great variety of appetizers, which we really appreciated. Traditionally, we ordered the Sushi & Sashimi Combo 1 each and tried some new apps from the menu. We ordered a bottle of wine which they didn't have and they only had bottles that were more expensive than what we originally wanted. To make up for that, our wonderful waitress Jing offered a hot sake on the house and apologized. That already showed us that everyone was grateful that we were there. The appetizers were big portions and well prized but the Sushi & Sashimi Combos were the real highlight of the night! The portion of both, the sushi as well as each portion of the sashimi slices were beyond what we ever experience anywhere else in the neighborhood. Jing was always around, very professional and everyone was very kind. The food was just absolutely ridiculously yummy, very reasonably priced and that is why we went back only a week later. And guess what? Of course they remembered us! Everyone was so happy to see us - as happy as we were to be back! They were so sweet to even offer a little compliment on the house before we even ordered anything.
