This place is so inexpensive so we get delivery from here once in a while. And for the price, they are fantastic. But there are some fish that has this muddy-ness in the flavor that some raw fish has and I don't particularly enjoy that. Their cooked rolls are amazing and their rice, I think, is prepared right for sushi. But they can use more flavoring of the rice to balance out the fish. I also realized after about an hour my stomach gets loose and it's not the biggest problem but maybe it is??? Overall, this place is a good place to get rolls from for such a great deal. read more

I ordered a beef negimaki bento box for a late lunch today, because I ate my REAL lunch wayyy too early so, of course I wanted something else to tie me over until dinner after the gym tonight. Seamless to the rescue, and my order was sent to me in 40 minutes. Although the delivery was fast, despite the horrible rainy weather, the bento left me desiring something else. Overall, the price of the bento itself is pricey at ~$18, and I opted to swap out my California roll for a spicy crunchy kani roll. Tack onto that an additional $2 for the chance. Ouch! Honestly, the spicy crunchy kani roll was the best and most memorable part of the whole box. Let me explain. The miso soup that automatically comes with the bento was mediocre at best. Little to no flavor, and tofu was non-existent. The second runner up of the meal was the vegetable tempura, and although it was crispy, the accompanying dipping sauce tasted like maple syrup. Way too sweet for me. The vegetables were cooked well, so I ate that. The boiled shumai were also underwhelming, and tasted like something mass produced from Costco. The beef negimaki itself was fine, but again, the brown sauce that it was drowning in was way too sweet; not even close to a teriyaki sauce. Sadly, I couldn't finish it because it was just too overpowered. I would definitely try to order more sushi next time, because the spicy crunchy kani roll was actually surprisingly good, but again, it will cost you. read more

This little gem was one of the few places that was open for takeout at 5pm back on May 12, 2020 Fried tempura was so good. Perfectly fried with that tempura soy sauce? I think that's what it is. Whatever it is I love it! Edamame is my favorite - can't go wrong with it. Narruto rolls are a thing for me since I cannot digest the sticky rice. Spicy crab and spicy salmon narruto rolls hit the spot. No, it's not quite like getting Hatsuhanna delivered while working late in midtown, nor is it outrageous omakase from Sushi Nakazawa, but that's not good what you should be expecting - rather, this is no frills, good quality food with reasonably prompt delivery that is consistent. The fish here is awesome whether in the roles or as nigiri. Thinly sliced, but not too thin, no stringiness, just delicate. Fresh. The tuna and salmon in particular were delightful. The yellowtail not as much. Rice is so-so. Doesn't have a lot of flavor and was somehow too firm and too mushy all at once. Seaweed wrapping was more tough than need be. Rolls weren't as tight or precise as in some A-one sushi establishments. Good miso. Strong wasabi. Weak tea. Udon was ok, not stellar. The waitress is indeed short with customers but still very kind. She will say nice things to you if you listen (she's quiet). I liked her a lot (but can see how some might not). And yup, inside smells fishy but my vegetarian friend didn't mind it and we both adjusted within 10 minutes. Excellent sushi restaurant with over-the-top service! The service was very fast, efficient and friendly. The sashimi and sushi dishes were carefully prepared and fresh. The presentation was on point. They have three different kinds of soy sauce in three small pots on the tables. The environment overall was very clean, organized and peaceful when we dined at night. We had a very pleasant and satisfying experience and left feeling full and happy! I was impressed at the amount of different kinds of sushi rolls they provide on their menu. We ended up ordering the sashimi appetizer and then the sushi platter for two. We drank sake and had fruit for dessert. Last time I had sake (at a different sushi restaurant) it was very unbearable to drink. This sake at this restaurant changed my previous opinions about sake because I actually enjoyed it a lot. 0 Stars - Sigh - This place used to be so wonderful, delivery always took a little while, but it was so worth it. Fresh fish, great technique, nice delivery man, etc. Well, the delivery man is still nice. That's about it. Whomever is their sushi chef is either over his job, or just not very good at it. Picture giant maki rolls, made so from crazy amounts of poorly seasoned rice that all falls apart when you try to pick it up anyhow. Gummy/chewy seaweed/nori wraps, greasy/oily handrolls that are over-minced, etc. They have also gotten pretty careless/forgetful with the order itself, sending cut rolls instead of hand rolls (and this was ordered via delivery.com so not lost in translation), forgetting the sides ordered, etc. And the whole free california roll with $30+ delivery, doesn't appear to exist anymore, as they havent sent the free roll to me in at least 3 months. So as much as this place has sustained my sushi cravings, and quite well, over the last 5 or so years, it seems the well has dried up... It's time to move on. :( read more

Please do not ever go there. I ordered delivery from this restaurant based on the rating on seamless but I should've read the reviews prior. I order two pieces of UNI, one piece of salmon, one piece of Toro, one piece of scallop and one spicy salmon roll. I received my order late first of all and the quality was TERRIBLE. The uni was NOT fresh at all, the rice was too warm for the sushi pieces so my salmon was WARMED and I wouldn't even go into the toro. I called seamless and informed them what happened and they told me that the restaurant will call me back. I think she was the manager - who I spoke to from the restaurant. She said I have to return the sushi in order to get a refund. I told her I'm sorry, I've never refunded a delivery so I wasn't awarded that I had to keep the "evidence". She then said "I can't do anything for you. You have to goto your garbage and take it out. " then I told her I threw it out in the apartment central trash so there's no way I can do that. She kept arguing with me and not only she was critiquing my integrity, she kept saying how it's not the restaurant fault it's probably just me. In the end, I gave up. It wasn't the money that's important, it's ones well being eating unsanitary food. So PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE. read more

And the only reason the dining in experience was better than delivery is because of the free in house hot sake. Both times, Kyoto Sushi delivered (both literally and metaphorically). Ordered delivery through ubereats -- great and prompt delivery service! However, the nigiri sushi and tempura were very very subpar, esp for NYC standards. The nigiri had extremely large, thick chunks of fish on top of very small balls of rice which made it incredibly difficult to eat, and the tempura were fried in a way that made the outer layer rock solid when I tried to eat it. On top of that, the texture and taste of the fish didn't appear fresh at all. My boyfriend did like his teriyaki, but I will not be ordering nigiri or tempura from here again read more

Saw a pic of a bento box from Kyoto Sushi that a former co-worker of mine posted a while ago. I've been a fan of sushi for a while and like to try out different sushi spots here and there so I finally got to try this place out. Going in I was a little skeptical because it was empty and when I see that I kind of stir away from going into completely empty restaurants with no customers thinking its probably not so good. But Kyoto didn't disappoint. Very good shrimp bento box I had with some shrimp sushi. Of course Asahi beer which for whatever reason goes so well with sushi. Still hasn't compared to the sushi that I've tried on the west coast but good enough for me to come by to again sometime. read more

I ordered delivery and was very satisfied with the quality of the food. They have soooo many rolls, so many things I've never seen anywhere else, so I went a little out there and tried some new things. The salmon tartar and California roll were solid, the gyoza delicious.The seafood salad comes with a small portion of sashimi covered in a creamy, slightly spicy mayo and is very tasty. The kaki roll (avocado and deep fried oyster) was surprisingly filling, a winner. The heaven roll was a show stopper; salmon with avocado and shrimp on top. The shrimp was so fresh! My favorite had to be the spicy scallop roll and the dancing shrimp roll. I've never had a raw scallop before and the texture had to be the best part. With that dollop of spicy mayo the whole thing is soft and and silky. Dancing shrimp is shrimp tempura and crab tobiki, with eel, avocado and spicy mayo on top. Top notch. I also ordered enough that they gave me the California roll for free, which is apparently something they do when you spend $30 or more. Sweet place! My only complaint is that their rolls are so massively tall and wide that they can often be hard to fit in your mouth in one bite. Makes for some awkward eating! Good Sushi, poor service. There was nobody there in terms of customers so our food was made fast. The woman who served us had some attitude like her entire family was just shot execution style in the back room of the restaurant ... I ordered a Miso soup, and she asked my lady if she wanted one also which she did and she completely forgot about the soup. My chicken yakitori was overcooked and the Black Dragon Roll was the only reason I gave three stars. It tasted pretty damn good. Damn that lady was pissed.
