I Went for pick up last night. Everyone, but this one chef is nice. The chef that I had to deal with yesterday was so incredibly nasty to me. I kept being nice and calm and kind, but he was so nasty to me that now, I'm thinking twice about going back there. This particular chef did not want to accommodate something for me and I very much understood his point of view so when I asked for suggestions on what he could offer, he was so enraged with my initial that he couldn't calm himself down to show me my options. It was only after a few times of repeating myself that he was able to calm down and show me what he could offer. I'm just putting this here in case anyone has ever dealt with this, or that you will ever deal with him if you ever do just know that you're not the only one and I contemplated not going through with my order. I decided to go through with it because the rest of the people in the restaurant that work there have always been really kind to me. Great local spot! The sushi is fresh and delicious. We got the dumplings which come out super crispy. The sashimi is great for the most part, only the tuna was cut super thick, so I didn't enjoy much. The spicy rolls also aren't very spicy at all. The space is super small but doesn't get super busy. The service was so great, our waitress was so sweet and funny 10/10. Overall great experience and I super recommend. They deserve more love read more

Just moved to Ridgewood, decided to pick up food down the street at Yso Sushi for my girlfriend and I. The order process was easy and we got 3 rolls (Dragon/Spicy Tuna/Yellow Tail), Gyoza and a Seaweed Salad all for a very reasonable price! The food was so good, it exceeded our expectation for pick up sushi and the portions were generous. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend if you are in the Ridgewood area. read more

I passed by this place driving and it immediately caught my eye. The next day, I ordered from them and they did not disappoint! I saw they had a Kani Naruto on the menu and I was intrigued since I love kani anything. I've never had it before nor have I ever heard of it so of course, I ordered that first. It was fresh, crunchy, and delicious! I also ordered the Black Angel Roll which was 10/10. I will be back to try other special rolls and the kani salad! read more

Food poisoning alert Time is the most valuable resource in life and Yso Sushi absolutely robbed me of a well deserved weekend. My girlfriend and I ordered in the YSO special roll, dynamite roll and the buy one get one free rolls from Uber eats. First they forgot half of our order - first red flag. But I'll give it to them the sushi and miso soup were ok, 6.5/10. It wasn't until 1am until I found out what my True review was... 0/10!!! My girlfriend and I we're going back n forth to the bathroom and at one point one of us had to use the shower. We were both poisoned by YSO sushi. Stay away from this place at all costs!! Unless you like old fish and hate your bowels :( read more

Boyfriend and I ordered take out which came incomplete and was missing two sushi rolls (a blessing is disguise). I was excited to welcome a new Japanese restaurant to the neighborhood, literally on the block I grew up on. But I have been quite disappointed. Have ordered three times. The shumai were ok. The edamame bland. The fried rice was filled with onion and no other taste. The chicken Udon was not edible. When I ordered it, I asked does it come with veggies they said yes. It came only white onions and carrots and had a strange super sweet taste. I should also mention that the food is expensive. Sadly I do not think this restaurant will last long. Had the hibachi chicken fried rice. It's legit- definitely tastes and smells distinctly Japanese. I appreciate that it was not oily, subtle but had just the right amount of flavor. One thing, though, is that I did not really know what hibachi meant, so I was expecting more meat. This is more of a side dish, as fried rices often are.
