Fantastic sushi and relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend the manhattan roll. Staff was great

I tried their Tokyo roll which I regrettably have to say was not good and I would recommend skipping - it's completely fried which I didn't realize, but the flavor inside is not very good either. My friends all loved this place though, so I trust it's good and would come back to try something different read more

Randomly strolling around Brooklyn on a cold day led my friends and I to Sapporo Ichiban. We were a group of around 6-7 and they seated us instantly. The service was good and fast. I ordered a ramen and it was delicious. Can't complain too much but also nothing super outstanding or groundbreaking. read more

This place is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Once as a Greenpoint local I dined here 3 days per week, and now I drive here from Connecticut because I love their sushi so much. I have been a customer here since their opening day. Portions are very generous, sushi is top notch very fresh it melts in your mouth. I can keep typing my compliment but it would be better if you just stoped in, and you'll know what I'm talking about. Owner is always there to oversee and make sure that your experience is one that makes you come back, read more

I usually have lower expectations for vegetarian ramen, but this was quite delicious. The broth was flavorful and the toppings were nice and varied. The menma was especially good. Pleasantly surprised by the quantity as well. I added tofu for $2 thinking this wouldn't fill me up, but it ended up being totally unnecessary. I walked away from the meal stuffed. Also loved the pleasant ambience in the backyard patio. Can't speak to any of the sushi, but for vegetarian ramen I'd definitely recommend it. read more

I ordered out from Sapporo Ichiban because I could not go out. Food came faster than I expected. I went to eat at the place long time ago and other than that I only got deliveries. About the quality of fishes, the price should be lower than this, but I understand the cost of living in Greenpoint, so I look over it. My order was..... - Shoyu Ramen: broth with braised pork belly, egg, shredded, wood-ear mushroom, bamboo shoots and fish cakes. 6/10 - Mixed Seafood Salad: Shrimp, Octopus, Squid, Kani with spring mix. 6/10 - Manhattan Roll: Spicy crunchy salmon roll, tuna, salmon and avocado on top. 6/10 - Tuna Jalapeno Roll: Small 8 pcs 8/10 - Bonzai Tree: Crab avocado, caviar, ebi wrapped with cucumber. 7/10 The score I gave are quality/price/and taste. I can say if you want to eat take out quality sushi in a budget, Sapporo will be another choice that isn't too bad. read more

I've been to Sapporo Ichiban a few times and have consistently had a solid experience. The sushi is fresh and the rice is the right consistency, temperature, and flavor (sometimes the nigiri pieces have a bit too much rice for my preference, but it's generally fine). The servers are friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is cute and relaxed. I also appreciate the unlimited house sake that they serve if you meet the minimum per person charge, which I believe is $15. Definitely an added bonus! read more

I came here tonight after a networking event with 3 other people I just met at the event. We waited 49 minutes for all 4 people to get their food. We were desperately hungry by that point. Our event didn't serve food. We were here from 830 to at least 1040PM. Customers might want to clarify what "Free" sake means because each person spent over $20 at my table and it was only $15 to get free hot sake and we got none. 2.0 star food Fish that's not very fresh Ramen that's not very flavorful except the chili flakes Rice that's hard Salmon skin in salmon skin roll that's so burnt that it actually tastes bitter Pro: there was some potential especially with the varied (some might say overwhelming) menu 2.5 star price $4.95 to $6.95 for a hand roll is reasonable IF only they got my order correct $25.99 for a sashimi sample is also reasonable IF only the fish was fresh and didn't take 44 minutes to be given to us 1 star cleanliness Our table wasn't clean when we sat down Water glasses seem mucky The women's bathroom toilet leaks so the floor is wet with some unknown liquid and I was wearing a maxi dress. I judge cleanliness according to how likely I would use the restroom. 0 star service We waited 49 minutes for our food. 40 minutes after waiting, the ramen came out. 44 minutes after waiting, the sashimi came out. 49 minutes after waiting, my friend's cut rolls came out. 49 minutes after waiting, I got 4 cut rolls when I actually ordered 4 rolls. WORSE part: the server argued that I never said hand rolls when my table heard that I said it 2x. I was so hungry, I simply said "I will eat what I have." We served ourselves our own water (carafe dropped) and I cleaned my own spot at the table, so we tried our best to alleviate what is considered a "busy" Tuesday night. Dinner rush is over by 830PM and people who sat down after us got their food first--which makes this situation more frustrating. read more

This place has the best sushi in Brooklyn, hands down. Every roll tastes like it was made with real care super fresh fish, perfect rice, and flavors that just hit right. A lot of love goes into what they do here. If you're into sushi, this is where you go. No contest. read more

Upon stumbling into this place, because honestly we were headed to the place right across the street but decided to stay put being that we were already there and menu looked decent. Hostess/Server not the friendliest of kind. No greeting at the door. Just sat us and went about her business. We ordered Edamame to start and some spicy tuna rolls which in my opinion were put together pretty sloppy. But they were good We ordered Ramen. Miso Ramen for my kid and chicken ramen for me. As soon as the chicken ramen was placed in front of me I automatically didn't like the smell of it. When I tasted it, it was bland with no flavor and I informed the server that I didn't want it. That I did not like it. She then asked me if I wanted to take it home. Like she didn't hear me say "I don't like it"... she left it on the table. The Miso ramen was delicious so I started to share it with my kid. She seen this and didn't offer me another plate or anything. Asked if I wanted the chicken ramen wrapped up. Again told her I didn't like it. She proceeded to say "you will have to pay for it", I told her that I wasn't paying for something that I barely touched and didn't like. She then said, "If I don't pay for it, that she'd have to pay for it" Like that was my problem. I found it really hard to understand why not ask me if she could get me something else or just remove it from my check. Before we were even done eating she brings over the check and asks if there was anything else that she can get us... wait? I didn't even ask her for the check. So I asked her "Are you kicking me out?" Cause that's what it felt like to me. She also stated that she removed the Chicken ramen off my check but no that she wasn't kicking me out. Yeah OK. PAID MY BILL AND LEFT. Very unprofessional and the woman clearly didn't like her job. She wasn't very nice to us and even tho the Miso Ramen was delish I wouldn't come back nor would I recommend this place to anyone. Should've went across the street as planned maybe we would've gotten treated better. read more

SALMONELLA DO NOT EAT HERE I don't care about any of the other reviews because they're such bullshit. On wednesday I ordered two sets of california rolls and a set of philadelphia rolls. The following day I already had a fever muscle aches and I just could not get up. The amount of pain I am still having from my fever and stomach flu because of their sushi is insane. A normal stomach flu should have passed in 24 hours. IT HAS BEEN WELL OVER 72 HOURS. I should have known that the buy one get one free offer was not a good idea but at the time why not get more for free you know. Please please please do not order their sushi. I am dying with a 103.4 fever and explosive diarrhea for three days now. I never write yelp reviews but for this I just had to. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AND HEALTHY!! THEN i got a call from the health department that it was SALMONELLA. Please do not eat here. im begging you do not eat from this place. if you ever had salmonella you know how horrible it is and for those who dont. i hope you never find out. once again. do not eat hereeee read more

Went here for the first time for a delayed Father's day lunch . The ambience is very casual, very courteous service, and spotless. After sitting at a front table we encountered street noise and noticed there is a great outdoor garden in back! We were promptly moved despite having already been served, and not a blink or eye roll . The shrimp rice, spicy tuna rolls, miso soup were excellent, but the star was the perfect kumamoto oysters. Reasonable prices, and everything is freshly prepared when ordered. Definitely will be back. read more

This place is cool for lunch. They have a lot of selections for lunch. Price is low that it is good and food quality is not bad. But, our orders came very late. Is was busy? Nope! We were kind of second customers. We order 2 two different salmon rolls, one shrimp roll, pork donburi, chicken fried rice, shrimp denputa, yaki soba. Salmon roll 3(normal) Shrimp roll 3(normal) Pork donburi 3( normal, salty for egg side) Chicken fried rice 4(like my mom'food) Yaki udon 2(wrong dish, we order soba, but udon came out, just ate) Service 3(not great) Atmosphere 3(they have back yard to eat, but some fly around table) We will come back? Not sure! If they have any unique dishes, yes, def coming back. read more

Not a lot of vegan options but food was pretty good, although I would not ever return here because the hostess / waitress was so impolite and the service was borderline like we were annoying her or something. I remembered her from when I ate there months earlier and it was the same thing of a very curt and unfriendly service from the female waitress. Really sad because it seemed like a nice neighborhood spot but just wow the service put me off , I'd rather walk another block to wasabi instead! Waitress really needs to work on not being so curt to and looking at guests like they're stupid when they ask questions or when she is literally just doing her job. DONT want to knock the score too low though because food was good and presented nicely. read more

It was decent. My fiancée and I got takeout and ordered: - Eel Avocado Roll - Spicy Shrimp Tempura Roll - Spider Roll - Sweet Heart Roll - Seaweed Salad The eel avocado and shrimp tempura were pretty good. They did mess up our order; they forgot the spider roll, so I couldn't tell ya what it's like. However, they did throw in a free California roll, which was nice. I was excited to try the sweet heart roll, but it really wasn't that great. Didn't taste that fresh or savory. The seaweed salad was also pretty eh. Not too much flavor, but not too bad either. The staff was friendly and had our order ready in time, which was a plus. We were glad to try it out, but will probably try to find other sushi in this area of Brooklyn next time. read more

when I have this meal, I will tell you I was astonished because of how lovely this meal was it just tasted fantastic. We ordered a Katsu rice bowl and spicy cucumbers and Ramen. I know this place gets compared to Ichiran a lot, but I've went to both places and I honestly like this place better. First of all the rice bowl was so delicious. I usually never really finish all of my food, but this rice bowl I ate it down to the last grain. The Ramen was also really flavorful and nice and you could also get refills for not that much. The spicy cucumbers and dumplings that we ordered were nice sides that complemented the main meal. The service was pretty fast. We didn't have to wait that long even though it was a busy night we waited about 20 minutes to get seated for four people. The workers were also friendly and got our food out quickly. The ambience was nice. They had different seating areas and the place where we sat in was nice. I felt like they had a nice space for people to eat and have deep talks. Love this place so much. read more

With sushi, quality trumps quantity every time, at least in my eyes. Our meal at Sapporo Ichiban started off fine, and the staff was perfectly friendly, but we soon realized that the food was not up to par. We split the love boat for two. First off, the pieces of fish are huge, which my dad taught me was a bad sign at a young age. Some items were slightly better than others, but overall the sushi did not taste fresh, and was very fishy. Also, the fish itself was far too warm. Not quite room temperature, but definitely nowhere near cold enough to be served. Hopefully we just hit Sapporo Ichiban on a bad day, but in a city of many good sushi restaurants, we'll pass on it next time. As the place was completely empty on a Saturday night, it seems others may have already known better. read more
