My coworker and I opted to eat inside this place that we frequently would order delivery from on a random work day. We wanted to get out of the office and just have a change of scenery. It's hard finding parking, but we lucked out and got a spot just on the corner! Upon going inside, it's actually much more spacious than other take-out sushi restaurants that you frequently come across. There's tables to fit up to six people, and there's even a waterfall along one of the back walls, which I thought was a nice unique touch. The tables were clean and we were seated right away. Our waitress asked for our drinks, so we got green tea and iced water to start, and eyeballed the lunch menu. They have lots to choose from, but our personal favorite is ordering their bento box sets. I opted to get their shrimp tempura, and I usually substitute the California roll with a spicy kani roll and pay whatever the difference is. The prices are all very reasonable, the plate is filling, and the food comes out looking presentable. This is a decent local place that fits the bill in my book. I have been coming here since 2015! I love this place and even became friends with the owner at that time. The staff is always pleasant, quick seating and never a long wait on food. My favorite go-to is a Lunch Bento Box. You can't beat the price and it's a variety of different things. I'm not sure exactly what it says that I have variations of their menu that started with 3 roll combos at 11.95, which became 12.95, then 14.95, and now 16.95, but it does say I'm a regular! And after I was taking photos, I noticed there was rice. This isn't Sashimi! I asked the waitress if she brought me the wrong order. She said she thought I ordered the #Sushi Regular. In my mind, I flipped out and pretty much wanted to kill myself. I realized I already put my filthy baby on the food, so I ate it. And I demanded another #free carafe of sake, even though I wasn't finished with my current one. In the end, it wasn't the #end of the world like I thought. But it was weird that I did want to kill myself in that quick sudden moment. I'm assuming it's like a conflict of #self-identity or just not getting what you want when you think it should be easy ...therefore, the mental conflict. Fulfilling. I ate here many times since this place opened, but now living in CT I only visit from time to time. I must say today was a reminder of how great this place is, and how crappy our best sushi joint in CT really is. I ordered sushi deluxe with dragon roll and explosion roll, my hubby ordered sashimi deluxe and 2 spicy tuna rolls. Waitress politely smiled and asked if we were sure it's not too much, we smiled back and said no. The fish was fresh, and pieces of fish were generous, we enjoyed everything and I also ordered to go for my daughter, it will make her day enjoying it while she does homework. Sakura 6. Went here for lunch last week. It was my first time here. I did not read the reviews before going. Was walking back from the Brooklyn Expo Center & had a sudden intense desire to eat sushi on my way to the G-train. Sakura was right there so I decided to give it a try. My first impression upon entering was the place is a little disorganized. Two people cut in front of me & tried to snag the window seat. I politely got ahead of them, and the waiter followed, but it was awkward. Thankfully, the other customers were cool & sat at the next table. Next, the ordering food part. Again, a little slow. Loved the lunch menu though. Many choices, including Bento Box selections. I ordered some sashimi (see photo) and a lychee Japanese soda. If you've never tried it, Japanese soda comes in a Codd-neck bottle (I had to Google that) used in Ramune sodas. The unique design includes a little glass marble ball inside that drops after you puncture the top. Definitely try one at least once in your life just for the experience of opening the darned thing. I've had Ramune sodas before (mostly while in Japan or overseas). They are great in the summer & go well with Japanese cuisine (better than American sodas IMO). Unless you live in an area where there's a demand for it, it can be tough to find Japanese restaurants that actually carry the authentic Japanese sodas. When they do, they often have only one flavor and it's not Lychee. I love the fact Sakura 6 serves authentic Japanese soda & in a flavor I like. Finally the food. The sashimi was ok. I eat a lot of Japanese food so I'm picky. It's 3-4 stars sushi quality. The portion size is appropriate for the price. The food was pretty much standard fare. Simply the best in Greenpoint. I've tried them all and Sakura is the best, hands down. Everything is really fresh...the fish, the rice, the seaweed, everything is very harmonious together. My favorite rolls are salmon/avo, tuna/avo and spicy salmon. The tuna tataki, baked scallops and Tokyo shrimp are awesome too. I ordered the beef negimaki once and it was a tad chewy and not as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. The strength and consistency of the other dishes allows my five star review to remain. I've only ever ordered delivery and it has come super quickly and the delivery guy is very friendly. They offer a pretty ridiculous special in which if you spend about 10-11 dollars (it has changed so I cant remember), you get unlimited hot saki. Need I say more? I typically opt for the 3 roll special which costs 12.95. Good deal for three rolls which you can get as a hand roll if you want, followed up by endless, flowing hot saki which really cant be beat. Because of this special, it can get really busy sometimes so be prepared on a weekend for a little bit slower service and longer wait time. However, when I have gone in off peak hours the quality and attentiveness is really top notch. That all being said, I have been to many other places where the quality in food is a bit higher, but for the price, location, and saki special, I would suggest everyone try this at least once because I am confident you will want to go back. read more

In no way is it fantastic, but it's SO much better than Wasabi (Nassau and Manhattan) and far more convenient. The three roll combination platter, served with miso soup, is a steal at 11.99. I live around the corner and either eat in or take out from Sakura 6 at least once a week (any more than that and I'm slightly concerned I'll be nearing Piven-status). Specialty rolls hover between $9-$12 each, which is great, considering most places charge $15-$18. I've only eaten their special rolls (mostly Spicy Red Rainbow, Bahana, Hanada, Sakura and Spicy Lover) and sushi/sashimi. Haven't tried the basic rolls since the deluxe ones are so large and tasty. Best part of dining in - BOTTOMLESS HOT SAKE. My girlfriends and I come here on a regular basis for that perk. The staff is friendly and at this point recognize us, so they always make sure our sake is full (often they'll bring over 2 bottles to save trips, since we drink so much of it!). Can't say I really recommend the sushi rolls -- not always the freshest, but I'm a super stickler for these things. Super fresh steamed dumplings with a melt-in-your-mouth combo of pork and scallions and some other really fresh ingredients. Dunk it in some sesame oil sauce and you'll swear you're in Chinatown. It's that good!! Sometimes I really have to restrain myself from ordering more than two (and each order comes with 4 dumplings)... The beef negimaki is also very good, they sear them so each bite of scallion-wrapped goodness packs a lot of beefy taste. I was a bit alarmed when the veggie dumplings were green but those are also very tasty! I live close-by so I get take-out a lot, but it's worth it to come inside. The servers are really nice and very quick, the beer and sake menu is surprisingly comprehensive, a cozy waterfall along one of the walls adds to the nice ambiance. This place ONLY caters to big groups of people & even then it's not that great. I used to work around the area and was excited that there was a seemingly nice sushi place nearby. Unfortunately, every time I went, the service was horrible. The waitresses pretty much ignored me every time I asked for something. They would actually pretend not to see/hear me calling out to them to ask for either more water or to order all together! Even when I had a group of maybe 4 people with me, we would be ignored. It was ridiculous. On more than one occasion I'd respectfully told them that I only had an hour for lunch and that I was in sort of a rush, they still took forever. The only time I received any sort of fast service, I was with a group of 10 people. It was my farewell lunch since I was leaving my job. At least THEN, they hurried a little bit. Now for the worst time of all. I was with the same three/four girls I went to lunch with and we decided we really wanted sushi. We came in, sat down, and waited for the woman to take our order. Well... we were sitting at the table to 30 minutes! Our lunch break was half over and despite us saying we were ready to order, we were told to wait. We were furious and when our waitress FINALLY came, we were livid. We all got up and left the restaurant and ended up eating at McDonald's due to lack of time left in our lunch break. I've never received such horrible service at any establishment. I do not recommend going here unless you feel like waiting for rude waitresses to do their jobs incredibly slowly! read more
