We ordered: - IKA GESO $11 Deep-fried squid legs: yummy, would order this again. Super crispy batter on tender squid. My one critique is it could be a little less oily, like maybe check oil temp or food moisture or temp before going into the frier? - SHOYU RAMEN $17 Duck based soup, bamboo shoot, chinese broccoll, pork belly, naruto, scallion, half seasoned egg. Why I'd order this again i) the broth was excellent--soy and duck flavors married lovingly--no altercations at the altar here; ii) the noodles were excellent--this ramen used a springy, curly noodle which was cooked to optimal chewing consistency; iii) the pork belly was tender and the two slices were generously cut, could use some grill flavor though I'm usually the one complaining about too much salt in ramen so found the salt level of this pork just right. However..., while the ramen egg was soft boiled to a good consistency, unfortunately I couldn't taste any seasoning on this at all. - TONKOTSU RAMEN $18 Pork based soup, bamboo shoot, woodear mushroom, naruto, pork belly, scallion, half seasoned egg: why I'd order this again: i) the ramen noodles served with this were the straight and thin kind, again cooked excellent--perfect amount of chew; ii) the broth was rich and salty as a tonkotsu broth usually is, though still drinkable--definitely can tell there was time and effort spent boiling down stock; iii) the other veggies were great. However, similar notes on the pork and egg as the shoyu, Staff was welcoming and attentive, quick to seat us, coming by to refill water, giving us time to wrap up when they needed the table. For reference we arrived around 12:15 on a Sunday with only two other tables taken. Seating in the for of two and four-tops, a couple booths and several seats at the bar were sufficient for around 30. Bathrooms are available and in good shape. Would I come back? I ate here on a Friday night. Id planned to go wine here else, but it was packed, so I found this place on Google. When I arrived, there were only a handful of other patrons dining, so I was seated immediately. The service here was very kind and the restaurant was clean, but the ramen honestly wasn't that good to me. I got the Tonkatsu and it was just really really salty. On the positive side, my food came out quickly and the chashu slices inside were thick and meaty. Even though the meal didn't blow me away, the prices did, so I'd come back and try something else in the future. read more

The spicy miso was perfect (not too spicy at all), had a delicate balance, and the texture of the ramen was great. Service was attentive, they were great about refilling our water regularly. What can I say? The Ramen Spot hit the spot! Came here for a quick early dinner with another family and was able to grab a long table to fit 7 people. We ordered the shrimp tempura and kaarage to share for the table and both were delicious. Just a side note: the shrimp tempura is more like rock shrimp and it's also coated with a spicy mayo sauce. We didn't know and it was a tad too spicy for the youngest kid in our group, but the big kids enjoyed it and so did the adults. Most of us ordered the Tonkatsu ramen and it was very good. The broth was nice and thick without feeling fatty and very flavorful. The noodles was firm and bouncy, not overcooked. It comes with toppings included with the price so that's nice since a lot of places like to charge a la carte per toppings now. The char su was excellent, flavorful and melt in your mouth. The only disappointment was the soft boiled egg. It was flavorless but the yolk was soft and gooey. Such a shame. The staff was friendly and service was good. We had to ask her to leave out certain ingredients for the kids order and everything came out correct. We all enjoyed our meal and left with a happy full belly. read more

I'm not usually too picky about my ramen but I wasn't a fan of the noodles that came with the tonkatsu (vs the more standard ramen noodles that came with the shoyu) and the cha-su (despite them giving 2 thick slices per ramen bowl) was dry and flavorless. The soft boiled egg also disappiinted as it had no flavor (vs good ramen places will have a soy sauce marinade). The only positives I can say are that both the tonkatsu and shoyu broths were pretty tasty and the service was good but beyond that, would pass on coming here again for ramen. This is a no frills ramen place in Greenpoint. I was there midweek for an afternoon lunch and saw that a majority of their business came from takeout and deliveries. I was their only dine-in customer, however people were flitting in an out with their orders the entire time. I got the shrimp bun and chicken paitan ramen. The shrimp bun was very good, I'm happy to report that the sauce that comes with most of these buns went incredibly well with shrimp too. The chicken paitan ramen was decent, if I had to compare this with the famous chicken paitan ramen from totto, this one fell short but not by a lot. The broth was thinner but that means you can finish the whole bowl and not feel like you had roll out of there. The ramen had wood ear mushrooms which I loved, the chicken was tender, their half pickled egg was forgettable. I got a side of their home made chili paste for an additional $2 and it was unnecessary, because it did nothing to the overall dish. I was hoping it would pack that extra punch I always look for and it was pretty bland. Overall, I walked away satisfied and it's a very decent ramen option in Greenpoint, if you are looking for a quick ramen fix. read more

They have a limited menu and most items are pork based so I stick with the mushroom based vegan miso ramen. The broth is mushroom based and its thick so I always add a little bit of hot water to it. I stumbled across this place in Greenpoint. It has a nice wooden interior and had a very cozy atmosphere. We were the only ones there so we got to pick where we sat and the hostess gave us all her attention. She brought out each item one by one which is great for a hungry customer but bad for a yelp review who likes to take pics of her food and post it on Instagram LOL. This was fine with the apps but weird with the entrees because I got mine before my bf's and it's awkward to eat while the other person isn't. We ordered a bunch of apps. My favorite were the cheesy crab Rangoon. Sadly you only get 4 for $7. They were the biggest crab rangoons I've tried but I would have liked a little more. There was a ton of cream cheese inside that overpowered the crab but I actually prefer that. I also got the shrimp buns that were $5 each. Super expensive but it's usually around that price everywhere I go. I liked the shrimp patty and the sauces. My bf thought it tasted like peanut butter and jelly tho... The popcorn shrimp was $8. Again, I wished the portion was bigger. This version used a lighter spicy mayo sauce that didn't cling to the shrimp as much. Didn't really taste the honey. Still delicious though. I got the vegan miso ramen which has the most awful smell but tastes fine! The only way I can describe the smell is maybe really bad morning breath? I think it might have been the scallions with the addition of a certain mushroom. The broth itself was less potent and more than edible. I really liked the noodles and the sweet corn. I did have to use a lot of the spicy oil to give it more flavor though. My bf got the chicken ramen and he was not a big fan of the broth or the actual chicken. It was too soft and bland for him. He did enjoy the egg and the noodles. For non pork eaters, these were the only 2 options for us as everything else contains pork in the broth. So it's hard to know if we would go back. An Apple Maps search led me here after visiting the car wash nearby. I was skeptical that this might be more "izakaya" and less "ra-men". Very happy to find Ramen Spot serves a soul-satisfying bowl. No photo of the pork bun, which was a triumph of the willpower to not devour in one ravenous overly mouth-stuffing bite. I made it last about 4 bites, and that pork bun was just the right appetizer for what was to become an epic bow of ramen. I'll let the photo do the talking. You can see all the "gu" -- toppings. The server was super nice. The service was "omotenashi" and I couldn't ask for more. Ordered 1 kaedama, a few minutes late. I wasn't sure how much I liked the noodles. They were silky and pretty tasty but this place is all about their broth and toppings. The noodles were very good. Also, the thick ceramic bowls they use really retain heat, and the broth could still handle some extra noodles--as could my belly. Would come here any day of the week. Ramen Spot's ramen is solid. Side note: They bring you a bug glass of water but I prefer the tony water glasses you'll find at your typical ramen spots across Japan. I'd much rather fill my gullet with beer, and on this day when I visited in February 2020, I just drank up all the broth.
