Damn...this was really underwhelming. Where's the UMAMI? Sadly, it was nowhere to be found at the bottom of my Tonkatsu ramen bowl. The more broth I tried, the more MEH I felt about it. I didn't finish it; that's how you know. Also, came here during my lunch hour, and it was just me. In the WHOLE place; that had be a little perplexed. If you've been to Japan at all, and have been there recently like me - this is NOT even close to what I've experienced. There was no POP; no WOW factor - nothing special. First time trying ramen and I am very grateful I went to this place. I mean outstanding customer service. I want to give a quick shoutout to the employee named Fharensia! She was very kind, funny and likable. Now on the food, I ordered the "Shoyu" which is the duck based broth ramen. Fharensia being the nice human she is told me she can get the Shoyu with chicken for me cause I told her I don't eat pork... I mean really cool of her right? Upon getting the food I tried the broth and it was outstanding! The noodles outstanding and fresh! The egg, eggilisious (new word) The chicken very tender and tasted amazing! I came here on a Sunday night and the place wasn't too busy - we got seated immediately. I wasn't too hungry so I only got the veggie gyoza and the mango salad. Both were very tasty and I would definitely order them again. I especially loved the salad. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful and it was a perfect mix of sweet and spicy. This place was great. Really great, patient waitstaff. I showed up like 15 mins before my buddy for an early dinner and the place was basically empty but they didn't make me feel weird about it. Ordered the gyoza, shrimp bun and tonkotsu ramen. The gyoza was some of the best I've had. Because of its thin skin gyoza can get too oily really quick. This was not. They were also light, didn't fall apart and went well with the sauce. The shrimp bun was super tasty (a pointless and random piece of lettuce was in it is my only vague negative but I'm not gonna knock off a star for that). The tonkotsu was super yummy! Way better than I expected! Super cute place, with all the basic ramens you could hope for. I had the spicy ramen and it was pretty good. The broth was rich, the toppings added perfectly to the meal and the noodles were cooked exactly how I like. All in all, if you're looking for a good bowl of ramen, this is the place to go. A few hiccups though....I did ask for no scallions and they seemed to completely forget about it. I would normally let this slide, but it seemed to be one little mishap after the other. For starters, they don't have lemons for water. The portions are small. At the end of the meal, I asked for a toothpick and they didn't have any...That was the final straw of where I couldn't really ignore all the little things that went wrong and almost made me question if they knew they were running a restaurant. Leaving with a sour taste in my mouth but a full belly. I enjoyed my ramen but the iced matcha was pretty gross. After just a few sips I knew I couldnt force myself to drink it just for some midday energy. I let my server know that it wasn't good and I wasn't going to drink it, but she didnt take it away. I was hoping she would take it off the bill but she wouldnt. So yes, I am complaining about paying for a full glass of the most disgusting Matcha I've ever tasted. I don't feel like she even bothered to listen to me. All she could say is that it's not their fault they didn't tell me to order that drink. But it's not my fault that you don't know how to make a Matcha drink. Any other café would offer to remake your drink or something different. And I was trying to let her know sooner than later, but I didn't like it but she was busy. Randomly went here for my lunch break on a rainy day. I was happy to discover it was pretty empty on a weekday around lunchtime. I got the vegan miso ramen with added egg. If I am expected to pay $15 for a bowl of ramen, I would like all of my $15 dollars worth. I read other reviews that have also found the food to be the most lacking, if anything. I enjoyed the utensils. The chopsticks were disposables (requires you to break them before using) but are a color of some brown wood. Chopsticks have come a long way since chopstick mass productions from the 80s. The black spoons are deep and fit more broth in each spoon-full. Overall, I will give this a 3 to 3.5-star rating. Prepare a proper f****** soft-boiled egg. read more

The ramen spot was a locally recommended place for ramen in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. As you go inside you get the Brooklyn feeling of sharing is caring with long communal tables and a bar area. The decor is very simple nothing out of this world. Luckily the restaurant wasn't too full when we got there, given that we aren't that accustomed to communal seating. We had the veggie gyozas, Pork gyozas, and spicy miso ramen. I'll start off with the pork gyozas; they we're juicy and pork very tender. I liked that the outside was very crunchy and the accompanying sauce was perfect. But honestly could have used a little more of the sauce. Still, very good dish. The veggie gyozas, in my opinion, were amazing! They had a taste very similar to a traditional pesto sauce and somehow still juicy. The outside still crunchy and overall amazing flavor. I am not vegetarian nor do I intend to be one but this is a nice treat for anyone who is! Now the spicy miso ramen is unfortunately the reason I couldn't give it five stars. For the price-$15 dollars-it had very little base ingredients. It seemed if you wanted a traditional bowl with the usual ingredients you'd have to get them separately with up-charges. Sorry but in the city I was able to find a bowl of ramen for $12 with many more ingredients and just as savory. Still I ordered it with pork belly for an extra $4.00 which to me was insane. Also I couldn't get past the ground pork that originally comes with the ramen. I've been to many-WAY TOO MANY-ramen establishments and had never gotten the pork like this. It messed with my ability to be able to savor the broth itself since no matter how hard I tried the pork still got in the way. The noodle texture was perfect-best texture I found in the city-but the taste was a little bland. The egg was cooked to perfection but for the first time wasn't able to finish the broth due to the meat. Overall, the service was great! Water refilled immediately and they made sure our needs were accommodated. We were seated promptly and you were able to see there were locals who would come in and were treated just the same. I feel like for the quality it was overpriced and you'll probably find tastier ramens for better prices. But still a good establishment to eat at if you're in the neighborhood. read more

I used to consider myself a ramen connoisseur, but there was a time when ramen was just too far from Staten Island. And then it all changed back when I moved to Brooklyn - Ramen Spot was the first ramen I tried coming back into the ramen game and it just reminded me of my love for ramen again! Such a great addition to Brooklyn for some delicious ass ramen!! We came as a group so we tried a whole array of appetizers like the charred edamame, cheesy crab and the pork and shrimp buns - everything was really good, but the stand out was the pork buns - it's almost like they add crack in there - it's so good! I'm a die hard traditional tonkotsu girl and their broth is so full of flavor and deliciousness. The thing I love about their ramen is that they include all the toppings for that set price unlike some places where you get a bowl and have to keep adding $1/2/3 per topping to get what you want. I also love that the place is run by a dedicated husband and wife team who are there pretty much all the time working and putting their heart and soul into their restaurant. All in all, the ramen and service both warmed my belly and my heart. Will be back for sure! read more

I airways love a bowl of ramen, and they seem to be popping up more frequently in my travels. Ramen Spot has a great location, however the bowl I chose hasn't set it apart from any other place I've tried. I didn't feel sick with salt after so that's a plus, and if you're looking for a solid bowl they are worth your money. Only negative I really have is that the bowl my friend chose did not list pork in its ingredients (he's Muslim) and there was pork in it. So buyer beware, make sure to ask questions if your dietary needs are restricted! read more
