The restaurant is beautiful from the outside and inside! The staff was friendly and attentive! Food was immaculate! The fish was fresh and the sauces were scrumptious. I'm definitely going back because it was the best sushi I've had in a while and I'm a feen lol

I got the lunch special, which consisted of two classic rolls for $14.10 after tax. I got the Alaska roll and the spicy tuna roll. If there was no lunch special, it would only be a dollar or so more. They forgot the soy sauce. The Alaska roll tasted alright. Nothing special. It tasted average. I didn't like the spicy tuna though. It had this strange texture to me. It had some hard pieces which I guess was just some fried pieces but it didn't taste right with it.

They got fresh fish, great service. I would recommend to get the yellowtail and the toro Ambience is good too, very clean and has really nice lighting. Great date spot

"Irasshaimase" meaning "welcome, please come in!" Miyama, was a sushi dream come true...I was craving sushi for some time now and we decided to checkout Miyama while in the neighborhood. We were instantly greeted at the door and seated at a booth. There is ample seating via booths, tables, and a mixer. They accommodate intimate to larger parties/families. We started with the spicy edamame and miso soup to open up our pallets. The spicy edamame was perfectly spiced and perfect for sharing amongst 2. It was a stormy night, so we ordered two hot green teas as our beverage of choice. The hot tea was unsweetened but sugar is given if requested. The only downfall was they had no honey as a sweetener option (hoping for honey next time, which would be a great add-on or agave). If not, you can always BYOH (bring your own honey). There were many menu items to choose from that looked appealing and sounded delicious...we chose 5 sushi rolls - spicy salmon, spicy tuna, OMG roll, Crazy Tuna roll, and Cowboy roll. All with brown rice which was an up charge of $1 each (well-worth it). Spicy mayo on the side instead of on our rolls due to personal preference and EXTRA GINGER of course! All the rolls were delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The fish tasted very fresh in each roll. The presentation was delightful as shown in photos. Hot tea refills were free and we ended our evening with Green Tea fried ice cream, which was the cherry on top. Miyama seems very popular within Police Officers patrolling the neighborhood and keeping us safe. There were 3 pairs of P.O.'s eating in and taking out during our visit. Miyama's hours are AMAZING and we look forward to our next visit to try other menu items/steak choices.

This place was just so pretty. I was walking down the neighborhood and I came across to the spot and gave it a try. You will not regret please give this place I try it is beyond the best! The ambience was breathtaking. The staff was very friendly. They are very welcoming, and they also have jokes lol. The food was chefs. Kiss delicious!! I love how they prepare the food on a beautiful plate with pretty flowers for decoration! I will definitely be coming back!! Thank you so much everyone. I will be coming back for sure. This is my new favorite place!

This is my favorite sushi spot in the neighborhood. The food here is always solid and the restaurant itself is huge with a very clean and modern decor. The price is right as well (especially their lunch special). The service is fast and nice as well. I would highly recommend you to order for take out or dine in if you are around the area and craving for sushi.

Service here is great and if you pay in cash, there is a slight discount. I came during their lunch deal and it was ~$30pp for AYCE sushi. You get an iPad to order and you can order as much as you want, and they bring out your food fairly quick. We got a variety of their nigiri, a couple of their rolls, and tried a bunch of their appetizers. I wasn't the biggest fan of their takoyaki or their sushi pizza as I felt that it was mostly just flour and rice--with barely any sauce. On the other hand, their unagi fried rice was flavorful, their nigiri and rolls had an amazing fish:rice ratio, and their fried scallops were delicious. Overall, unbeatable deal and solid quality sushi. Would definitely come back!

The staff were amazing, very attentive, and welcoming. I was shocked at how busy it was around 1:30pm, which was a good sign that the food was good. They have an extensive Asian/sushi menu, including a separate lunch special menu. We both ordered the lunch special that included a soup, small salad and option of meat, rice, and a sushi/California roll. I don't eat seafood, so I ordered the cucumber roll, and my friend had the avocado roll. This was my first time eating three cucumber rolls, and surprisingly, it was tasty. I enjoyed my entire meal, and it was fulfilling. I was able to take a small to go bag of my rice and teriyaki chicken. My friend ate all of hers and we were both satisfied with our meal and the service. We both enjoyed our refills of the hot tea throughout our meal, and you had the option of water as well. This is definitely a cool spot to check out, and I would definitely return to check out some other menu items.

We were not disappointed!! This restaurant on the Upper East Side looks unassuming but the quality, service and prices were all excellent. We started with pan fried gyoza and fried shumai. Not every restaurant offers fried shumai and I prefer it to steamed shumai, which sometimes has a slimy texture on the outside. Both appetizers were some of the best I've ever had, crispy, fresh and delicious. I ordered the lunchbox special with beef teriyaki. I couldn't believe the portion for the price. A lot of places make you choose soup or salad. This came with both, along with a California roll, white rice, some veggies, steamed shumai and the protein -- a choice of teriyaki chicken, beef or salmon. You could also order a sushi or sashimi lunch box for a bit more. The ginger dressing tasted fresh and delicious, with just a little spice. My husband ordered California rolls and spicy tuna rolls, also a lunch special. He said it was the best spicy tuna he's ever had! Akura is a bit off the beaten path for places we normally visit in Manhattan but we may just have to come back! Downside? No alcohol but you could bring your own with no corkage fee if you wanted. They served water, soda and even hot tea in stainless steel tumblers. I liked them for cold beverages but it was a bit odd for green tea. Not a dealbreaker at all - but interesting enough that I noticed! I kinda want the same glasses for my house as they kept drinks nice and cold! Very friendly staff, quick service - well deserving of 5 stars.
