Keep in mind that one order of nigiri comes with one piece, while the sashimi will include two pieces. My noodle soup bowl was HUGE- lasted me a really good amount of time while socializing. The indoor and outdoor/ backyard seating were super nice. We opted to sit in the backyard, which had ambient lighting and a bar as well. The fish was not fresh at all it tasted very fishy and I've been eating sushi since I was 7 And the rice was super hard like it refrigerated or old. The staff also stopped me on my way out of the restaurant because they wanted more than 10% of tip then proceeded to let the door hit me when i reclaimed that I did tip the staff started to raise her voice at me. What great service that they have here. Every time our water was low, it was filled to the top. Pretty good. The waiters came by frequently to attend to whatever it might be. However, I doubt that you need to make reservations as there's plenty of seating in the back space or in the main dining area. Food wise, I ordered the spicy seafood soup, which was alright. Ako is a great spot for inexpensive sushi and lunch sets slap bang in the middle of Bedford Avenue not far from the subway. I first came here by default when the restaurant I was planning on going to was closed and I've now been back many times. The room is pleasant with well spaced tables and there's a great seating area out back in the garden. The servers are friendly. The lunch sets are great value, they have a few types to choose from, not just the standard bentos and the portions are generous. Ako was such a great find!! Stopped in for a very late lunch after having a very late breakfast so I didn't order much but I was really thrilled with my sushi roll. It was some of the freshest, tastiest sushi I've had in a while-- salmon was absolutely buttery. Would love to come back and try some more off the menu and sit on their beautiful back patio! My other half and I have not had sashimi since COVID-19 began to reach its peak in NY. Now that restaurants are opening doors again, we decided that it was time to treat ourselves to some long-awaited Japanese food. Rock shrimp tempura was just ok Sashimi Special - all fish was definitely fresh but half of it was tasteless. Rolls - Seafood Dynamite, Kamikaze and Tuna Lover was not good. On another hand, service was great. Also, we were sitting not far from a door to the outdoor section and every time servers were opening it, it was very cold. Sadly can give more than 2 stars.
