My go to spot in the neighborhood. Cozy, excellent vegetarian options, staff are always accommodating. Never pass up the chicken wings if you see them on the menu! read more

Place has a cute vibe, good for a date or a more intimate hang. The drinks and service were good, but the food was alright. The steak needed more salt and was a bit chewy but the fries that came w it were good. The fish in the curry could also have used more salt/ flavor. I expected something sweeter but I've never tried that dish before so don't want to assume what it was supposed to taste like. I thought the tomatoes/ veggies with the fish added some nice flavor. The salmon on the crispy rice wasn't good, the menu just said salmon so I didn't even know it was supposed to come w the crispy rice which was really overbearing. I only tasted the crispy rice. read more

We passed along the restaurant in the neighborhood and the inside looked so cozy and vibey with warm lighting. Luckily it was happy hour and got to have a couple cocktails $2 off each and shared some appetizers. I loved the salmon crispy rice (great portion sizing) and my friend loved the roasted carrots with the honey ginger yogurt. The only thing we had a comment on was the ramen was too salty but otherwise the pork in it tasted like carnitas. Service was wonderful and checked up frequently, with some great dessert recommendations. read more

the ambiance here was super cute, cozy small space with friendly attentive service. the food was slightly underwhelming considering the fact above :( it looked clean and colorful, but to be honest flavor and textures were lacking. the drink was satisfactory but wouldn't say i miss it or look forward to it next time...i'm glad i tried it though and it's worth a visit for the ambiance and experience! read more

This place looks more like a bar than a restaurant with the kind of wooden interior and dim lighting you'd see at a pub rather than a ramen restaurant. It's kind of a surprise twist that they have a full menu of Hawaiian and Asian fusion food, including ramen, which is what I came here seeking. I was just turned away from the perpetually packed Yuji Ramen down the block so I reluctantly settled on Suzume as plan B. The place wasn't empty, but the distinct lack of a wait time felt telling. My veggie mazemen arrived looking pretty promising. It was a photogenic bowl with fried tofu, edamame, pickled red onions, scallions, fried cauliflower, and a poached egg. The colorful components seemed prepared with some level of care, but looks can be deceiving. Maybe without the foundation of a broth, the bowl lacked umami and felt flavorless. I'm not exactly characterizing Suzume as bad, but it's firmly in the realm of perfectly fine. read more

A friend suggested Suzume on the way home from a long trip and a savory, starchy meal was exactly what I needed. The interior surprised me from the second I walked in, because it had more of a hipster bar feel than that of a ramen spot which was enticing. I was also thankful the restaurant wasn't particularly crowded on a Sunday afternoon so there was no wait to be seated as a group. The crispy chicken bao buns already gave me insight into how good of a meal I was in for, in that they had just the right amount of mingling of flavors while also staying very juicy. For my main dish, I ordered the pork ramen with garlic sesame oil and it did not disappoint. It's one of those meals that's so satisfying and comforting, you wish you never had to stop eating it. I'll definitely be coming back to Suzume for lunch. read more

A moody and intimate spot for dinner last night with the girlfriend! Cocktail program was phenomenal. Ordered the Plum Velvet & Jiggly Caliente -- both really great. For food, we ordered the Salmon Crispy rice, Shrimp & Avocado Salad, & the Togarashi Tofu dry noodles. Everything was tasty & well portioned. Wish there was a touch more salt in the crispy rice, felt a little flat. My only complaint was the service. There was only one server taking orders and running food out. Had to wait a while and ask multiple times for a side of chili oil, stood up to ask for the bill, etc. . Nonetheless, delicious, intimate and tasty! read more

A close, tight space--you're like three feet away from the table next to you. Long hanging lights create a really dim, low-light ambiance. If you like eating in the dark, this place fits the bill, but most places are like that. We went around 7-8 PM. First thing they ask is if you have reservations. We didn't, but we got lucky because it wasn't too packed. They gave us the option of sitting by the door or at the door--we chose the door, where the table is right next to the entrance. Luckily, it was a warmer day in February. For appetizers, they only offered their special that day which were: calamari or tofu. We went with the calamari. It wasn't anything too special--the sauce made the experience--but it wasn't worth $12. For the main course, we picked the popular items: salmon and pork ramen. At first, it looks like a small portion, but the deep bowl is misleading--it's actually filling. The broth was well-seasoned and hit the spot. There's a good amount of salmon which is great. We added a poached egg each for $2.50. We spent around $80 after tip and tax for two people. Note they charge 4% for card. The biggest downside? The wait. It took almost 30 minutes for our ramen to arrive, and the table next to us (who sat down 15 minutes after us) got theirs right after we did. read more

Service: 3.9/5 Food: 3.7/5 Confused by the vibe. The bar takes up too much space for it to feel like a proper restaurant, however the menu begs to differ. Very dark inside, had to read by candlelight/phone flashlight. Not enough tables to accommodate their popularity. Would really only come back for the lunch special (seems like a really good deal!) + to try their 1 mocktail. What I Ordered: - Spicy Butter Wings: interesting flavor combo. not super spicy, just a little kick + having the yogurt dipping sauce helped - Pork ramen: not too greasy or salty, good broth, filling - Mazeman: like a bibimbap with noodles, though it wasn't clear from the beginning nor did it mix as well. Fried tofu was good read more

Nice little dinner place with tasty drinks. We had the mazemen, the desert island cocktail (very much recommend!!), the fried chicken (very flavorful giant karaage), and the butter wings. The mazemen wasn't my favorite (salty and the cream of mushroom sauce was kind of an odd touch) but everything else was very tasty. Wanted to try the miso cod but they were unfortunately out! Service was a bit slow but it was height of dinner time. Overall we had a great time! read more

Best happy hour deal in Williamsburg; bar none. Came here with a friend, who is a regular, after months of him practically screaming at me to go here for the happy hour. 2 fried chicken baos with a shot and a beer for $18. INSANE. The servers are cool and the bartenders are great. Good beer selection and great cocktails to boot. The chicken baos are so dang good. Perfectly fried chicken with the soft and spongey bao, pickled jalapenos and fresh lettuce, and a spicy and tangy sauce. It was so good, my friend and I did the deal twice. It's such an unassuming spot that does fill up later in the evening, but a cool interior and good amount of seating. Great for dates, early happy hour, or just a place to get a drink! Will absolutely go back and I will probably write another review about HOW GOOD THE HAPPY HOUR DEAL IS HERE. read more

My friends and I were able to get a same-day reservation here for four on a rainy Tuesday, and it was the perfect warm meal! I got the vegetarian ramen and added on chili oil and it was soo delicious. Super creamy broth and super filling (I got to bring home leftovers)! It is a little expensive and the add-ons are pricey too, but it helps that the portion sizes are pretty good. Will definitely be back! read more

Very excited to grab a walk in table but apparently RSVPs would be better! Very cute and intimate place, great service. The food was great, especially the chicken and pork spring rolls. The food was outstanding!!! Service was also professional and kind. The ambiance was cozy and warm!

Such a great spot with incredible food and service. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy a great meal.

Stopped in with a friend on a superbly hot summer day and the cozy, cool interior was second to none. The menu itself had much to offer, almost a little too much because we had a hard time deciding but ultimately went with: - syd's bok choy & peashoot salad (so refreshing and light) - pork shoulder with 2 pieces of lumpia (lunch special) - tuna poké with koshihikari rice & quinoa, carrots, watermelon radish, avocado, sesame - I also had the blood orange mocktail -- a nice mix of juices and bubbles Everything was so good, as in clean your plate good. Our server Babsy, was a rock star guiding us with our order; with light conversation and a smile. read more

This is a cute place but a little pricey for the portion size. As far as the menu goes, the place leans more Hawaiian than it does Japanese. They still have some great Japanese staples like sushi and ramen. When we walked in all the tables had been reserved but there was plenty of seating at the bar. Initially I only ordered the crispy rice salmon, which was good, but I definitely needed more for dinner. After that I also ordered the poke salmon bowl which was delicious but also wished I had more of. Service was kind and very prompt since we sat at the bar. Atmosphere is dark and cozy and would be a cute date spot. Small note - they charge a 4% credit card fee. read more

Came here on a Friday night with friends for dinner and overall, I loved it. It is a cute small restaurant on the corner of a block in Williamsburg. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars rather than 5 is because I think the prices are rather high for the food. Still a place that I would recommend going to at least once if you are looking to try a new place for dinner. I would recommend ordering their spring rolls and chicken wings. I think out of everything that we got, those two were the most unique and worth it. I also tried their Hawaiian chicken rice bowl and it was good, but not as great as I thought it would be. The flavors didn't mesh that well and the sauce of the chicken just tasted salty to me. Note: Make sure to try to make a reservation on Resy if you don't want to wait and they charge a 4% credit card fee. read more

Wanted to love it, but Suzume came up short. We had a reservation and it still took time for us to sit down. The service we got that followed was incredibly slow - seemed like there was only one server for the whole restaurant? Doesn't work. Our server didn't come by our table for long periods of time when we wanted to order, and the food took FOREVER to come out, even the drinks too. I ordered the salmon ramen. Loved the broth and the soy egg (though I was it was not $3), but the salmon filet...great size, and at first I liked it, but I was SO thrown off by it being almost half raw. Like a piece of practically rare salmon. They didn't ask how I wanted it cooked, which perhaps they should...I just think that if you're intentionally serving partially raw salmon, there should be a note on the menu or a verbal notice. It was incredibly off putting. Another person at my table ordered it as well, and his filet seemed to be much less raw than mine. It was incredible jarring and weird to bit into a medium rare filet without warning. So...odd. Not a great overall experience, with such slow service and wait times. read more

I stopped by Suzume for dinner on a Tuesday, which was great because it was easy to get a table and the vibes were really lowkey. It was the ambiance I needed on a rainy day, after a long day at work. The lighting was dim, and the decor is really cozy and inviting while also reflective of the food they are serving. The music was quietly playing so people kept their conversations low, and I really appreciated that. The food is Hawaiian-asian fusion, which I love to see on the east coast. I got the salmon ramen, and it really hit the spot. The piece of salmon is also relatively big so it was satisfying. The noodles were chewy and the broth flavorful. There was bok choi in the broth, which I personally love. Very filling, nutritious, and flavorful combination of ingredients! The waiter was also very friendly, attentive, and did not rush us at all. He had great, laid back energy as well which just added to the ambiance. Totally recommend stopping by Suzume for a meal! It also seems like it might be fun and bustling on a weekend, and they have an extensive bar. read more

I enhoyed the vibe and the food. I had some pork ramen with a marinated egg and it was tasty. Good place for a chill first date.

While making the difficult decision on what to eat (with the company of the pup), my friend and I decided to head to Williamsburg, where the doggos are loved. Outdoor dining? Check. Yummy food? Check. So y'all know we headed to Suzume. From start to finish, food was absolutely AMAZING. Serious deliciousness in every single bite. The musubis had just the right balance of spam, rice & seaweed without being overly salty. The butter wings just had the right kick of spicy and the ginger garlic sauce complimented it perfectly (ask for extra if ya could because it was SO good). The salmon and tuna have a nice contrast to the crispy rice if you decide to order that. And lastly, I was super glad the poke bowl wasn't super large and yesssss, thank you for including the fried lotus root. The staff was super helpful. Our server gave us a bowl of water for our pup and we also ordered him the fried chicken, which was nicely cut up for him so he could chew on the chunks. Thank you for being amazing! We (and our pup) appreciate it :) read more

From the cute exterior of this restraunt, we were nervous to step in knowing the menu and its prices. But we were pleasantly surprised and believe what we ordered is worth its price. I ordered the braised pork lunch set and shared with my mother. The entire plate was tasty when eating it together, especially the braised pork. Brother loved the salmon ramen, the salmon was done amazingly. And grandmother loved the salmon lunch set with the soup. Our server was a very kind and hospitable. 100% reccomend if you're in the area. read more

Came here around 5:30pm on a Saturday without making reservations and got really lucky because they open at 5pm and not long after being seated, the restaurant for super packed!! Make sure to make reservations! My friend and I ordered: - Spam Musubi: it wasnt bad, nothing crazy about it. It had grilled spam, pineapple teriyaki, furikake, nori, and scallion. - Spicy Butter Wings: pretty good! Had a good kick to it. We were able to do happy hour so we got the wings with a kirin beer and a shot. I believe we got 6 pieces. - Pork Ramen - Standard, can't go wrong with it. It was tonkatsu broth, braised pork shoulder, bok choy, wood-ear mushroom, chili oil. - Hawaiian Fried Chicken Bowl - Eh, wasn't our favorite. It was fried chicken, pineapple macaroni salad, pickled red onions, and pineapple. I thought the chicken was too fried. Happy hour is from 6-7pm on Mon-Sat and from 5-6pm on Sun! For $18, we could choose either wings or friend chicken bao and it comes with a kirin beer and a shot. The shots options were Sauza tequila, Tito's vodka, and Hellcat Whiskey. Good vibes and friendly + attentive staff (always ready to clear out some of our empty plates). read more

this is one of my favorite restaurants in all of brooklyn, maybe even the whole city. every single thing on their menu is worth having, and the variety of cuisine is so refreshing. they have quite possibly my favorite steak in the city and the chimmichurri it comes with is to die for. i love their pork ramen and hawaiian plate lunch style chicken. their drinks are amazing and creative too, and they have this yuzu sake that is outrageously good. the ambiance is very cute and the service is always warm and accommodating. everything about this place is a 11/10, suzume you are very special to me! read more

Service is solid--no complaints there--just a bit slow when it comes to getting the food out. But the food... I don't know. Spam Musubi - $10 for one musubi. One. That's outrageous. That's about the total cost of ingredients to make nearly 20. And honestly, it was just okay--no better than a homemade musubi. When I ordered, I expected at least two whole. Nope it's one whole cut into 2... LOL Poke - The fish was good quality, but the way it was prepared? Yikes. Regular white rice instead of sushi rice, and the added ingredients didn't do it any favors. Ramen - It was decent. Nothing special. Overall, this place was just underwhelming. Disappointing. and to the owner who can't take criticism, you're silly... the menu does not say (one musubi) i'll add a star back for you, as I didn't mean to drop it when editing the comment. instead of clapping back maybe take the criticism and do better. you are already over charging on the poke, "to pay the staff" might as well drop the price on the musubi. OH not to mention, service sucked. I come from a michelin star background and I can confidently say that the service here was NOT great. I stopped in on a Friday night around 5pm without a reservation and grabbed a seat at the bar for a bite to eat. The tables were reserved for the night, and there was a waitlist for the bar by the time I left around 6:15. So, you may want to reserve a spot! I ordered the Spicy Elena, a fruit (I can't recall which!) and jalapeno margarita that was well balanced and tasty. It also came with a cute little wooden flamingo decoration on a stick. I ordered the Hawaiian fried chicken rice bowl/Hawaian plate I believe it was called, as I had never tried anything like it before. The fried chicken was crispy with a nice breading to chicken ration, and drizzled with a slightly sweet brown sauce. This went well with the rice and pickled onions. The mac salad wth pineapple was a little sweet for my tastes, but I still enjoyed it. Lastly, I tried a cauliflower bao with pickled cabbage and carrots and lemon mayo. These were large and two to an order and I really enjoyed them! I do wish the cauliflower were a little bit softer though. A small and cozy spot with friendly service, quality food, and good drinks! read more

Cane here for a Saturday dinner. The ambiance is nice and felt rather tight. When we were sat at the bar, it didn't feel as such. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got there 7 min before our reservation and were sat at 8:15 as the reservation stated. Perfect timing. We started with Crispy Rice-Salmon and Chicken Bao. Cruspy rice was ok, it was good, but nothing astonishing. The Bao on the other hand was as my friend said "life changing" which I will have to agree. This started out on such a high note, but then it sadly dwindled down. I got Salmon Poke Bowl with extra Ikura (Salmon roe) on the side and the caviar was old. You could tell right away, it was "deflated" and sticky which is what a 3-4 day old red caviar feels like. My friend got the Salmon ramen which usually just comes with bok choy. She added the veggies and the egg, which was cold! That was the first time I've eaten a cold egg from ramen. Also, the broth was just so-so. My friend loved everything here and will come back, while I didn't. So take this review with a grain of salt I guess. read more

Cute Asian fusion restaurant in Williamsburg just a block from the L/G! The chicken bao as others say is truly so good, the chicken is crispy and tender and well seasoned. The miso black cod was also so delicious, the fish just melts in your mouth (it is on the sweeter side though). We loved the pork ramen broth too, but thought the pork and the broth was a little salty. The restaurant is a bit pricy, $15 for 2 chicken baos, and $3 to add an egg to the ramen. They also charge a 4% credit card fee so be aware of that. Our total for the 3 dishes and a side of rice was $70 without tip and tax.
