Jun fried chicken. Good, nice, crunchy crust. Sous vide, so incredibly tender. But, it can also turn the chicken's protein structure into mush, if left too long in the sous vide station; you can squeeze it like Pla-Doh. Not that there's anything wrong with sous vide. Or this cooking technique. Some would call it "melt in your mouth" tender. Others might say "excellent for people with no teeth". Just an observation, not a complaint. Each person must decide for themself if they like that kind of texture. It's the same effect as a long marinade, which is why the interior of a Chik Fil A chicken breast is so homogeneous. I learned about structural changes with marinade or sous vide in a Kenji Lopez-Alt article, years ago. For those who don't know me, I've been writing about fried chicken recipes for years and also documenting the central Texas German Czech community parish picnics on my The Fried Chicken Blog. So I really enjoy researching and talking about fried chicken. Be sure to bring cash so as not to have to pay the up-charges that may show up on your bill. (I can't remember if they mention these on the menu or not.) Here is what Kenji wrote about that homogenization of the chicken meat a few years back when working on a Chik Fil A copycat recipe. (Not that I would ever patronize that establishment lol): https://www.seriouseats.com/homemade-chick-fil-a-sandwiches-recipe

Jun was the perfect place to celebrate my husband's birthday dinner. First off, there's a parking lot out front, which is lucky for the Heights area. Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and even took photos for us. He recommended we ordered several dishes from each category of the menu so we ordered the following: - Local Corn: really loved the XO sauce it was in - Lamb Belly: honestly wasn't a fan of the lamb with salted yogurt, but hubby loved it - Rice Cake: absolutely loved the soft/crispy contrasting textures here! These were upgraded tteokbokki. - Pork Ribs: loved the five spice sauce and how tender these were - Fried Chicken: so crispy and loved the pairing of the honey For drinks we had the Scarlet Letter, a beautiful and refreshing tiki-style cocktail, and the Miles Away mocktail. Honestly the Miles Away mocktail was the best mocktail I've ever had. We both loved the how strong the passion fruit flavor was. They also brought out a cake to help celebrate hubby's birthday and it was sweetest touch at the end. The ambiance of the restaurant has that overall classy casual vibe, and we'll definitely be back! Pro Tip: if you're pregnant, they have one of the largest mocktail menus in town!

After hearing about JUN for many years, I'm so glad I finally got to try it with three good friends on a recent trip to Houston! We were celebrating 3 of the 4 attendees' birthdays (mine included!) and we were treated so well the whole night! The kitchen was also great about allergies, as two of my friends have shellfish allergies and one is also celiac. We began the evening with some cocktails and mocktails which were all delicious, and then leapt right into the menu items we ordered. Some of my favorite bites of the night came at the beginning: the beef tartare was so balanced and delicious, and the shrimp aguachile was punchy yet light. Would definitely reorder both those dishes! The hot appetizers came up next: my favorite of the bunch was the cabbage, which was super flavorful from the tofu caesar sauce and had just the right amount of char, but the shishitos and carrots were also excellent. All the mains and sides we ordered were amazing; the brisket was a bit dry for me but the peanut sauce it came in was phenomenal. And the green curry went so well with the aromatic coconut rice! I didn't try the potatoes but my friends loved them a lot. Then our server brought out three cute little scoops of sorbet for the birthday trio. Perfect palate cleanser, and not wanting to leave our fourth companion out, Chef Henry sent her a complementary sorbet as well :) Such a nice touch. By this point we were all super stuffed but the desserts on the menu looked too tasty, so we also added on the passionfruit panna cotta with coconut tapioca and the goat cheesecake with lychee ginger sorbet. Our gluten free friend really enjoyed the vanilla bean ice cream, but the rest of us loved both the other desserts we got. Totally worth it! Since the menu is so seasonal and changes frequently, I would love to come back the next time I'm in the city and try more things. In the meantime, I'll keep dreaming about this meal :) Thanks for a phenomenal birthday dinner, JUN!

I really would give Jun a 3.5 over a 4 but rounding up because the flavors were pretty decent. We have been wanting to try Jun for a while but had gotten mixed reviews from friends about it when it first opened. After giving it some time to fix through opening kinks, we finally made the time to check Jun out. We opted for the tasting menu since there were a couple dishes that were not part of the à la carte menu that sounded interesting. The night started off well with some good drinks, then had hiccups during the first few dishes due to a strange delay in pacing that ended up getting better as the evening went by. It took so long between the first couple dishes that we started keeping a log of how long it truly took for each dish to come out. ie 15 min from drinks to first dish, 23 min to the second dish, another 15 min until the third... eventually the dishes started coming out a little faster but man it was noticeably long. A friend got the wine pairing and this was another eyebrow raising part of the evening. This is probably the food snob in me talking but the server clearly knew next to nothing about the menu and the drinks might as well have been served by a robot. Literally just a "here's your next wine" with zero declaration of at least what kind of wine it was. I'm not asking for a report of tasting notes with an extensive vineyard history but dang, for the price you're paying there should be at least a semblance of a description with the delivery. The flavors of the dishes themselves were good but I don't think I'll be coming back. Too much good food in Houston to justify returning w the service and pacing issues. Was really hoping they would have ironed out these kinks by now.

I've been wanting to try Jun for quite some time now, and finally got the chance to. Jun serves New Asian-American dishes, and although many of their dishes were innovative, it just didn't taste as good as it looked. Gulf Shrimp 4/5 If there's anything you should order, it's this. They're known for it, and it's pretty good. Rice Cake 1/5 I love korean rice cakes, and although what they did here was creative, the yellow bean bechamel doesn't go with the rice cake at all. Texture is great, flavor profile is odd. Asian fusion gone wrong. Beef Tartare 5/5 Personally, I love beef tartare anywhere and I had no complaints about this one. I would get this again. Fried Chicken 2/5 The fried chicken wasn't the worst, but it definitely wasn't the best. If you're paying $24 for 2 pieces of chicken, you think you'd be blown away. I'm shocked that their fried chicken is popular. I was upset about the chicken actually. I wouldn't recommend this. Brisket 3/5 The brisket was amazing! Initially, the peanut curry tasted good, but the more you ate it with the brisket, you just got tired of it. The rose colored glasses come off, and you realize that it's just mediocre. Goat Cheesecake 4/5 Flavor profile was good, and I like that there was a variety of textures in this dessert. Made it fun to eat. Never had goat cheesecake before, so it was quite the experience! Scarlet Letter 5/5 I honestly think their drinks are better than the food. If I were to come back, it would definitely be for the their cocktail menu. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be returning. I can justify 2 pieces of average chicken for $24 (Based on flavor, I would rather go to a local korean fried chicken place or Popeyes). There wasn't a single dish that I would come back for. I do like the ambience of the place and it would make a great date or even drinks with the girls. Service was very good, our server was very patient with us and gave us many recommendations.

Jun is like an elevated casual dining experience. It's a no bum looking kinda night, but at least find the best casual slacks and cute blouse type. It's no wonder they have a 3x James Beard Nominee. Just give them the damn award. It's just that good. It's like a different universe, each spot you're in. From the front door with bar seating, and to your right is the kitchen with a window concept, and to your left is the dining room with beautiful lighting. Complimentary still water and sparkling water. Yeah you heard that right. Ima get a glass of that bubble water. GULF SHRIMP wow. light. refreshing. acidic. give me more. starting off strong with a flavor bomb. I literally slurped my portion. MUSSELS The Chinese bread topped on top of the mussels, swimming in the concoction of whatever drinkable broth that was, was immaculate. My god, give me a straw. Perfectly cooked mussels, and a crispy but dip-able Chinese bread is *mwuah* chef's kiss. No need for utensils, guys. Scoop that shell into the broth and slurp it up. Don't worry, you'll get a nice warm towel. LOCAL CORN The flavors were interesting. It's a corn on the cob cut into what looked like 3 pieces, lathered in and delicious aioli. And it wasn't your typical aioli because it was thin and seeped into the crevices. So after each bite, you'd get a flavor bomb through each row, criss cross, corn blast. Idk I didn't want to say applesauce. And since you're eating the corn with your hands, they provide freshly warm hot towels! Talk about service. CARROTS While I did think this was towards the bottom of my least favorite, I do love the flavors that were on this plate. I enjoyed the Salvadorian cheese. I just wish the carrots were cooked a little longer. I really had to dig my knife to cut that bit up. SAUSAGE The sausage felt so fluffy, I don't think I've ever had a texture so good like that in a while. But damn, I cackled writing this feeling proud of myself. Cause, I'll probably be thinking about that damn sausage for days. It's not your average sausage where you get that snap from the casing. IYKYK FRIED CHICKEN I fear the fried chicken has just surpassed, on what I thought was my number one of my list of best fried chicken. It truly hits the superior of fried chicken of restaurants. As of 2026, of course. It's crispy. It's flakey. It's tender. But the sauce, it brings the flavors of the batter and chicken together. Wow. The Asian tangy goodness, oomph. The flavors drizzled on the chicken is beautiful. It literally reminds me of the chicken leg over and a bed of sticky rice you'd find at the Asian grocery store, right before you hit the cashier belt. It's calling you to put it on the belt. And you do. I'm so glad I saved the sticky rice because, GODDAMN. Pairing it with the crispy chicken batter, and the sticky rice. Literally zapped me to my childhood. When my mom would splurge on frid chicken and bring it home for my brother and I. Added with a spoonful of sticky rice, my god. I yelled wow. Again, the hot fresh towels Gotta love it. BRISKET The brisket was in a pool of peanut curry and a dash of coconut milk, divine I might add. But I did felt the brisket was a tad chewy and tough. TAMARIND ARNOLD PALMER The zero proof tamarind Arnold Palmer reminds me of an elevated Teavana sample that you'd get at the mall. But in a really fucking good way. Oh how I miss that little stall. The best nostalgic feeling. ORANGE CRUSH I loved this cocktail. Absolutely loved it. I'm a fan of anything orange and this had perfect pairings of spices. The dessert spoons are personally carved by The chef's family in El Salvador. What a treat, because they're exquisite. It's a true gem. The phone pictures just don't do it justice. But trust that I say that the food is to diiiiiieeeeeee for. Is it expensive? Yeaaahhhhh but you can tell how much thought goes into every bite. NEUGADOS The nuegados with the vanilla ice cream was such a perfect pairing. Nice and warm, cool and inviting. Everything was fantastic, however there were a few things I wanted to note that I may not have been a fan of, but some may. SEA SALT AND VINEGAR Salt and Vinegar potato chips were complimentary, but all not all complimentary is worth getting again. This was one of them. It tasted like a big potato wedge. It was a little more salty than my tastebuds can take. Even this dish came with freshly poured, warm towels. *mwuah* TAPIOCA The tapioca with passion fruit panna cotta was ..... interesting. I can't say I was a fan. It's so tart my eye started twitching. The cake? Eehhhhhh a bit bit ......biiiiiiiit dry to the point you truly need water. Skip the milk. Yikes. The service is truly a 5 star experience. From drink top offs, replacement of each silverware, and no crumb left behind. Immaculate. Top service. What an experience. Lemme come back for more.

Jun is a fine dining restaurant but many of the entrées require eating with your hands, so they provide wet towels with each of those dishes. The ambiance is very romantic and the service was very professional and attentive. We started strong with the beef tartare which was flavorful and delicious followed by mussels in a rich, savory red curry broth (though a little too salty). We asked for extra bread to soak up the sauce and were brought two very large baguettes for $4 which was way more bread than the small amount of broth left. From there, the meal unfortunately went downhill. The fried chicken arrived bone-in, which made it feel more casual than fine dining (almost like being at Popeyes). The rice cakes turned out to be the Korean tteokbokki style rather than the Chinese kind I had expected, and since I'm not a fan of tteokbokki, I did not enjoy this dish. The ribs also came bone-in, requiring yet another round of finger eating. The carrots were good, but the bed of cheese they sat on was very peculiar. We ended up skipping dessert, even though it was my birthday, because we didn't want more disappointment. For us, there was simply too much of eating with our hands and too many misses in execution for a fine dining establishment. While the dishes were creative, it didn't quite deliver the experience we were hoping for. Sadly, I don't think we'd return.

The inside of this restaurant is decorated beautifully, I love the attention to detail to everything from the door, to the branded coasters, to the different shaped bowls and plates serving different functions like a soup bowl would have a little beak where you can sip the broth out of. The service was excellent, our server was very attentive making sure to change out our plates and utensils after every dish, along with bringing moist towels when it a finger food. Jun offers a small menu of some very unique and original dishes you probably won't find at a lot of places. A lot of the dishes we had were delicious, some were okay, but nothing was really mind blowing good, and everything was tiny Hence the 4 stars. Gulf shrimp (5/5)- this was their award winning dish, very delicious. It's a nice refreshing start to your meal. Beef tartare (4/5)- I like that the breading came on top so you can just break it up and mix it in all in one. Taste wise it was good, but it wasn't anything special. I felt like it needed more greens like parsley or micros or something. We've had better. Mussels (3.5/5)- Curry was honestly a little salty even with the bananas and everything in one bite. Fried Chicken (4/5)- Delicious but it just tastes like Thai style wings. Also, $24 for 1 thigh and 1 breast is insane Rice cakes (2/5)- it's just tteokboki. I'm not a big fan of fried ones since they're more firm, and the sauce that it came in wasn't great either. Skip this one Brisket (5/5)- this was the highlight of our meal. Slow cooked super tender, and just melts in your mouth. Definitely recommend ordering this. Goat cheesecake (4/5) delicious but tiny, probably 3-4bites max Overall portion size to price ratio def felt a little scammy but it's a nicer restaurant so I guess

The atmosphere was such a vibe, we were seated facing the kitchen and loved seeing the level of detail that went into every dish. The service was impeccable, and the food was incredibly savory and delicious. Presentation was a 10/10. Would highly recommend!

Yelp 2026 Food - given the option of tasting menu vs a la carte. Ordered a la carte. Gulf shrimp ceviche 5/5 is by far the favorite amongst all the items. The blend with the avocado with a slight lime juice was great. Second favorite green curry 4.5/5 - consist of green beans (in between crispy and fully cooked), mushroom, potatoes cooked to softness drenched in a good curry sauce! (Got a side of rice to pair with it) Third favorite grilled red fish 4/5 - very solid, the more you eat the better it got. Beware of the cantaloupe or honey dew that comes with it (it's vinegar ish pickled flavored, caught me by surprise!) Corn 3/5 - flavor was on point but the type of corn or batch of corn used could be better (could be plumper, sweeter types of corn) Brisket 3/5 - the first few bites were amazing paired with peanut ish curry. However, after a few bites digging into the chunk of the meat- it is pretty tough not as tender anymore so basically wasted 90% of the chunk. Would likely not order this again. Dessert - 5/5 got the goat cheesecake with ginger lychee sorbet- the pairing of rich goat cheese and the light ginger lychee sorbet with the additional toppings including berries jam and crispy sugar it blended super well Service - super friendly staff, attentive, efficient Ambiance - had counter seating facing the kitchen giving a view inside the kitchen and I loved this seating!

I've had Jun on my list to try and glad I did. Its a cute restauarant with a nice oval shaped bar area. All the bar service was very good and friendly. The bar menu looked very good, so I landed on the ORANGE CRUSH dolin blanc, orange peel, angostura bitters, cava, rosemary oil. It was very good and I for sure would pic this drink again. I enjoyed the menu options and lots of great choices. Unfortunately this night I thought what I had sounded good but the execution seemed a bit off. For my main protein I chose the BRISKET composed of peanut curry, sesame oil, mustard greens, lotus root. The sauce that came with this dish was tasty, but the brisket was imho, was overcooked and seemed a bit dry or that fat was rendered out. As a side dish for my carbohydrates I went with another popular dish was the CARROTS everything salsa macha, salvadorian cheese, quail egg. My complaint here was the carrots could have bee cooked longer or a bit softer. It was just too hard or crunchy from what I've had and enjoyed at other locations. Overall I enjoyed the place I just wish the dishes were more to my liking and will come back but not sure I'll be in a hurry.

Get a spot at the counter! It's far more entertaining than the dining room - 2 hours flew by watching the chefs at work - and you can actually hear the other person talk. Our server was very good - super attentive, friendly, and great at explaining things. Service was lighting fast while the counter was empty, which was until about 8:30pm on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, the speed of service dropped off after that. But they really make an effort with service. Food was pretty good, but not so outstanding I'll remember it after awhile (like the taste of some dishes just stick in your head for years... nothing like that here). Nothing bJun is like "intro to Asian / Korean flavors" - they are inserted everywhere, but not in a novel way, and sometimes it lacks balance. Mussels - 4.5/5 my favorite dish, but still wouldn't write home about it. But it's nuanced with spice and sweetness from the plantains. Tapioca - 4/5 I really enjoyed the searing tartness of the passion fruit, but other than that it tasted like something you can get from Meetfresh in Chinatown Gulf shrimp aguachile - 4/5 my spouse liked this one the most Fried chicken - 4/5 it was fried very well, with the skin like crispy shards and the meat juicy, but the sauce made it taste just like Korean fried chicken, just less spicy. Didn't stand out. Beef tartare - 3.5/5 just ok, tasted like they made it Korean but in a very simplistic way (sour and spicy) Carrots - 3.5/5 just ok. Interesting pairing with cheese and carrots I guess, but why? Not sure even after eating the dish.

I've had this place on my list for a long time after seeing many great reviews on it and hearing about Chef Evelyn's success on Top Chef. We finally got the chance to try it for a friend's birthday dinner. The atmosphere on a Friday night was bustling - lots of date nights and casual friend catchups throughout the restaurant. Reservations highly recommended! Oysters. These were the start of our meal and they knocked it out of the park. The oyster meat was already shucked from the shell, which helped for ease of eating. The raw oysters were bursting with flavor and did not taste fishy at all. Carrots. The carrots had lots of flavor. Served whole, we were able to split this one to where each person got their own carrot. The others at my table mentioned that their carrots had a kick to them; either my tastebuds have become more spice tolerant or my carrot wasn't marinated to the same level, but these were a good pick among the vegetables. Cauliflower. I normally gravitate towards cauliflower on a vegetable menu, since they're usually roasted super tender and flavorful. Unfortunately these missed the mark. The cauliflower was a bit tough, leading me to think they were undercooked. Mussels. The mussels were very good. Very tender on the inside and separated from the shell easily. They were soaked in a very flavorful red curry sauce, which I could drink straight. The mussels were served with two slices of baguette bread from Magnol. The bread was very good and we wanted more to sop with the rest of our sauce. We asked for additional bread and they brought out two additional slices that were a little burnt. They charged us $4 for these. I get it that nothing is free these days, but $4 for a little extra bread is borderline nickel-and-diming to me. Fried Chicken. This was my favorite. The fried chicken was double-fried, making the skin extremely crispy. They serve up a whole chicken and a half chicken; we ordered the whole, which was just the right amount for our table of 5. I could taste the strong Thai chili and ginger flavors on this, which I appreciated. The chicken is marinated in a shrimp paste, so keep in mind if you have a shellfish allergy, but the taste was subtle enough to where I didn't taste any shrimpiness. Coconut Rice in Banana Leaf. For $4, you get a small square of rice wrapped inside a banana leaf. The rice tasted quite standard and the coconut flavor wasn't very prevalent. Although this is probably the cheapest item on the menu, the Asian in me has issue with paying $4 for rice. Nuegados for dessert. we also added an ice cream scoop of the day, which was roasted banana. The nuegados were a Salvadoran dessert of fried dough, similar to a donut. I found the dough way too sour for my enjoyment though. It was hard for me to eat the entire piece because I wasn't a fan of the sourness. However, the ice cream definitely outweighed that - a smokiness to the banana flavor to make it "roasted" was a really tasty ice cream flavor I haven't had before. My first drink was the Friendly Jack, which was a very tropical drink that reminded me of being at nearby Lei Low. For my second, I got the carajillo. Both drinks were beautifully presented and tasted great - no regrets here. Service was excellent. Our server made some excellent recommendations for our first time dining here and was attentive over night. Other servers stepped in to help refill waters, and we had a slight mishap here of our water glasses being refilled with sparkling water instead of still. They have different glasses depending on the type of water you get and ours was the "still" glass, so I suppose that particular server just missed it. Although I'm glad we got the opportunity to try Jun, I walked out a little disappointed after seeing all the hype. While they bring an interesting concept to the Heights of Asian-Latino fusion, some of the dishes unfortunately left more to be desired.

The place was dimly lit and there was a lot of seating, both indoor and outdoor. A lot of the seating inside was arranged as couches with low tables, which made for a very casual and relaxing vibe, while the overall atmosphere remained very classy. - Padre's Hotdog (4.5/5): I was told by my friend that this was the best hotdog ever so I had very high expectations and I wasn't disappointed. The bread was very buttery and nicely toasted. The frank itself was very juicy and I loved how the pico and mustard help cut through the fat. The thing that made this hotdog stand out was the cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was delicious and I could probably have just eaten that alone. One thing though, the hotdogs were a bit on the smaller size, you probably would have to order something else or a second hotdog if you were hungry. Would come back again just for this hotdog! Parking/Service: There was a small lot on the side of the building, but other than that you might have to street park in the neighborhood right next to it. The ordering system was a bit of a surprise for me. You have to walk in to the bar and order there.

We were able to snag some free street parking and wandered our way into a cute setup with mood lighting and plenty of seating. There's a central bar and plenty of outdoor patio space. We were immediately helped as soon as we found a table which I really appreciated. The menu is HUGE and has anything you could possibly want. We're big red wine fans so we settled on that page. J opted for a cab while I decided on a couple to sample before ultimately choosing a red blend. I appreciate that they're more than happy to give you a taste before committing to a glass. You can choose between 3 or 6oz pours, or a bottle. We also decided to share a cheese board with the Willoughby cheese which was soft and delicious! I appreciated how kind and accommodating the servers were as they frequently checked on us. This is a great spot to enjoy some wine with friends, on date night, or anything really! It has a relaxed atmosphere and is a pleasure to visit. Till next time!

It was a lovely evening. I will definitely return so that I can try their s'mores board.

The vibe inside is super cute with mood lighting and plenty of intimate seating spaced throughout. Parking in said shopping center is sparse. I'm not sure if parking is allowed at the neighboring businesses after hours, but I wanted to play it safe and ended up waiting about 15 minutes for someone to vacate their space. Our group had a couple of tables reserved and they had no problem having everyone pay on separate tabs. Service is offered both at the table and bar. Our waiter was attentive and had great recommendations for wine. When I was conflicted between two whites, he graciously brought me out both to taste and decide. I went with the Cacciabruco Malvasia/Trebbiano, which is a skin-contact white wine, so it had more of a reddish hue to it and almost looked like a rose in the dim lighting of the restaurant. I really liked this, as it was on the drier side and satisfied my palate more than the Gewürztraminer that I had also sampled. I didn't try the food but others in our party really liked the flatbreads they ordered. I do want to try these out next time because I know they will pair great with the wine! I'm glad I finally discovered this place! I'll definitely be back for happy hour and even a date night. With so many good places popping up in in Spring Branch, I'm sure this will become a regular spot for drinks before dinner

There are books abound, along the walls, in the bathroom, everywhere. I had a glass of Experience, a Californian Cabernet Sauvignon. It was a good pour, not too little or too much and the taste was deep, well balanced and smooth. Since the event took place around dinner time I also had a Fig and Speck flatbread. The fig, prosciutto and other toppings complimented each other well. The flatbread dough itself was ok but could've benefited from a little more flavor such as some garlic, butter and herbs. I also would've liked it a bit thinner so I could taste less of the bread and more of those delicious toppings. Don't get me wrong it was good and I ate all of it but these are small suggestions I'd recommend to bring it to perfection. I could see parking and seating being tricky. I was fortunate to snag a parking spot on the side of the building near the auto place and once inside I found a seat at a table with a lovely couple, another couple joined us soon after. Many of the guests who arrived later stood at first and then halfway through the event, made their way to the floor where they sat cross legged. All in all, The Library was a nice establishment and although a little out of my way, I'd return for another event or if I were in the area again.

When my friend made the reservation, she received an email encouraging customers to visit the tasting room before or after dinner. We showed up an hour early to visit the tasting room, however the host had no idea what we were talking about. Turns out they weren't doing tastings. Luckily, we didn't have to wait to be seated. We initially had a table that was not near a heat lamp, however an employee came over and let us know that we could switch to a table near the heat lamp which was appreciated because it was chilly. Our server was Laura. She was nice and funny. They had $25 flight specials. I went with the Sayanara Flight which had white wines. I really enjoyed them and they weren't too sweet. My friend had an NA wine which she enjoyed. We ordered the Truffle Fries and Meatballs. Both dishes were tasty. I enjoyed the aioli that came with the fries. They had discounted wines for purchase. Not all bottles were 50% off, however the gentleman that we spoke to went ahead and gave me a 50% discount on both the rosé and pinot grigio that I purchased which was so appreciated! It seems like there are quite a few businesses around town that are closing. I'm sad to see Mutiny go, but I'm glad my friend and I got to dine in on their final night.

I often pass by it going through a shortcut to I-45 and sometimes going home around the area. It's literally a 5-minute drive. I booked reservations Friday since I saw they opened up the 31st on Resy. It wasn't earlier in the week, but I knew it was the last day, and my friend and I really wanted to try. I'm glad we made reservations because they were at capacity (150 person capacity) and weren't taking any walk ins. We got there early cause Resy suggested checking out the Tasting Room before or after the reservation time. We got there about an hour earlier, and the host said he didn't know anything about that except that the Tasting Room area was used for events. Interesting. We were seated earlier on the patio on this freezing evening. At first, we were at a table that didn't have a heat lamp, but when one freed up, they were so nice to suggest that we move closer to the heat lamp since they saw us shivering. Lol. We were thankful for that. I wore fleece lined jeans and brought gloves and a beanie anyway having been in the below freezing winter in London. Laura was our server and was kind and funny. So was this other guy who checked in every now and then. He made light of their last day situation. The dining area is so beautiful inside. I love the limestone-looking interior and chandeliers. Reminds me of Fredericksburg or something. They had many large groups and a few small groups of friends or couples dining on this last day. Way to go out with a bang. A lot of the wines were selling out or already sold out around 7-8 pm. We tried the truffle fries and Sicilian meatballs with focaccia bread. I like the thick cut of the fries and the black garlic aioli. It reminded me of yuca fries. The Sicilian meatballs were a bit small, peppery and salty. I wish the marinara was a little more tart. The focaccia helped cut through the saltiness. I had 2 glasses of the NA Sauvignon blanc which was light and a little tart. They ran out of the NA red blend. My friend ordered Sayonara, one of their farewell flights which were aptly named for "goodbye". It was a great night on the patio but chilly. My friend purchased a rosé and a Pinot Grigio as part of their Last Sail wines. Actually, the Pinot Grigio wasn't part of the sale, and he was going to take off 20%, but he also made it 50% off. So nice!! I'm glad we got to try them on their last day. Bon voyage, Mutiny.

Our friend booked a reservation and was able to add a fourth person without any issues. It's on Westheimer where all the restaurants and shops are, so it's pretty busy. You can either park on the street or in the neighborhood behind. There's bar, small table and booth seating available. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share.
