When my partner and his brother were out working a few weeks ago, they discovered Jim's Place near one of the job sites. The guys came home from work that first day raving about the excellent meal they had and have continued to visit if they have ended up in the area. Yesterday, I ended up helping my partner for the day and we had to do some work nearby to Jim's. I was excited when he pulled into the parking lot, for lunch, after having heard so many good things. This restaurant, out in the tiny little town of Elkton, resides in a building that used to house the local general store. It's not much by way of furniture, but there's some old fashioned booths, as well as regular tables inside. Additionally, there is a beautiful porch to enjoy your lunch outside on our non-rainy Florida days. There's also a ton of memorabilia on the walls. Given that one of the owners is originally from New Jersey, it has a feel of Yankee-ness to it. I can't really describe the feeling other than it just reminds me of mom and pop places up North. My partner stuck with his usual of a burger and onion rings. After much deliberation, I ordered an Italian sausage, peppers, and onions grinder. It was sensational; almost as if they made the sausage in house (they didn't, but they must get it from a local butcher or something). I'm going to have to come back to sample more of this smorgasbord of Americana, especially the NY Style Pizza. I have yet to find anything down here that compares to up North and I have faith that Jim's just might. I suggest if you want to go out for Saturday drive, you take SR 13 from Mandarin and on down to Elkton. It's a gorgeous ride, right along the St. John's. Take the ride and then grab a bite at Jim's. Don't go on Sunday, though! They are closed on Sunday and Monday. read more

OMG! REAL NY STYLE FOOD! My friend and I were born and raised in the NY/Philly area. This was truly a taste of home! The Philly cheese steak was perfect! The NY style pizza was right on the mark! I'll be making trips up to Jim's from Daytona anytime I really need a Philly Cheese steak! read more

I don't often get to Jim's Place as much as I would like to and I live maybe a couple of miles away from there. But when I do go I enjoy it! The food smells great and the food is good so I would recommend this place it is a local attraction to our Elkton area and we love it here! read more

We grab take out from here frequently and even come in on occasion. We've tried a variety of different items but our favorites are the Buffalo chicken dip, pizza, corn nuggets, and the lasagna is really good too. My husband also loves the burgers. If you want to just eat some good food at a local place this is your spot. read more

I don't usually do reviews, but I understand this place used to have good food. My experience, Pizza: at first was pretty good. Now: what happened to the crust, it's like rubber? Hamburger: once again, used to be tasty and juicy. Last night ordered 2 to go, dry, no flavor, thru it the garbage. Jim's never disappoints today's special was a ham and cheese sandwich with fries for $8 my friend got it and it was fantastic. This is the type of place I really love to find! True mom and pop place where mostly locals eat, very reasonable prices and down home cooking! Went here for lunch yesterday and was amazed at taste of food. Had the meatball sub, and minus chunks of tomato in the sauce, was the best have had in a few years. Got couple cookies to go and was still very pleased. Highly recommend this place! Doesn't have decor like a chain restaurant, but for me, don't need that. My bf and I got off of 95 to grab some food and gas, we wanted to go to somewhere local (a mom & pop type place) I found Jim's Place and thought it was super cute! We went in and it was vintage and homey. The food was very, very good especially for the low prices. The staff were all super nice and efficient. Having been on the go all day long with just a cup of coffee for breakfast, we were very hungry coming from an event up at the Fairgrounds. On our way back to I-95 on SR207 deep in Elkton, FL is this Mom/Pop good ole' family restaurant. It was early, about 5:30pm and there was a couple of parties sitting on the front porch enjoying their food and company. We choose to sit inside since it was quite warm still out. My husband and I had been in the restaurant last over 15 years ago, and they must've had a liquor license back then because we had wings and beer. When our waitress came to get our drink order, she advised they didn't serve alcohol. No worries, we were both hungry, so Scotty ordered ice-water with lemon and I got a refreshing ice-cold Diet Coke. My friend had recommended the fish sandwich (she had eaten there the day before and even went to the trouble of "complementing the Chef" specifically on it!) and there it was on the Specials Board: "Giant Fried Fish Sandwich" french fries and choice of macaroni salad or coleslaw $9.99, which is what Scotty ordered. I got the 1/2 lb. bacon cheddar cheeseburger for $5.99 and added my own order of french fries for $1.99. When our orders came out shortly after, I asked my husband if I could share his Giant Fried Fish sandwich dinner and he said yes, so I ended up having my burger packed to go. Let me tell yas....#BESTFRIEDFISHEVER! I dare to say that is is even better than the famed fried Grouper Sandwich at the Bantem Chef in downtown Bunnell, FL. I hear they have some fantastic pizza there, too, so we will definitely be back soon (and not 15 years from now) to try that and the rest of the menu. BONUS: I'd ordered a slice of Double chocolate fudge cake and for $2.99, that in itself, was a great deal. I ended up eating it later in the evening for a Late Night Snack. BONUS #2: The other diners in the restaurant are regular patrons and I swear it was like having supper at a family member's home. Jims Place is a staple of our area. The food has always been very good, and it's been consistent throughout the years. It's a very laid-back atmosphere. The daytime hours often filled with working folks from the nearby farms, the night brings in the local families. It's definitely a place we will continue to patronize. read more

Went for lunch last year, very good pizza, a little slack in service. Stopped for late lunch last week, both of us got the fish sammich special. Took too long to be served. No beverage refill without flagging down and asking. Worst fish fillet ever. Cold fries. We were starving, ate what we could, good cole slaw, stomach ache later. Poor service. As leaving saw two orders of specials coming out, piled high with fries, steaming hot, looked good. Nothing like ours. Won't be back. Will wait for Palatka or St Augustine to eat. When we travel, we like to eat at places that are not chain restaurants and are local joints. This place is exactly what we were looking for and didn't disappoint! We were very pleased with our dinner choices! My husband chose the calzone and was very satisfied, it was so big, he could only eat half of it. My oldest chose the 1/2lb burger and she said it was the best burger ever!! My youngest ordered a slice of cheese pizza, which was bigger than her head and she demolished it and loved every bite!! This place wasn't even all that. We ordered the Buffalo chicken dip and the waiter gave us crumbs to eat with this chicken buffalo dip. You can tell that it was microwaved it was not fresh and I thought it was so rude that the waitress handed me crumbs to eat with this dip. Other than that everything was just OK. read more

Even though they servred my GF a burned chicken cordon blue my sausage roll was incredible not to mention extremely huge ( and I eat a lot ). Had to take half of it home. The french fries were a small portion but more than enough for me. Guess the large order must be humongous. Will definitely be going back to eat again. read more

Last year we were in this area for a week, ate here three times and loved it. Not this time. We had wings and a steak sub. The wings were dry and cold with no dipping sauce. My boyfriend and I stopped by this cute little restaurant and just had a wonderful time!:) They had a checkers mat on the table we sat at and it was fun playing while waiting for our food to come out! The service was outstanding! The food came out really quick and was warm, hot, fresh and most importantly really tasty! I had a calzone and they didn't charge me for extra onions witch I really appreciate! Friends familiar with this place took me here for the first time yesterday. Who would have thought that you could get such great quality food from this unassuming roadside restaurant in Elkton, FL? As they say, don't judge a book by its cover. Jim's is a quaint place with a wall full of posters of old television shows and also has an outdoor porch area for additional dining. Our party of six for lunch was attended to promptly and our orders arrived in a timely manner. All orders looked delicious, but mine was exceptionally great, a sausage, pepper and onion calzone, which was not only delicious with lots of sausage, and humongous! I had to take three-fourths of it home. It appears that Jim's specializes in burgers, but their Italian dishes are just as wonderful. I'd be a regular if I didn't live an hour away, but it's definitely worth the drive. I'll find a way back in the future! read more

It's the closest thing to a "local" restaurant as you can get here in Elkton. Comfortable, neat, casual restaurant. My husband and I stopped there for lunch and the place was hopping.we were waited on and served pretty quickly. My burger was very good with grilled onions on top.
