We had breakfast at Sparky's restaurant is Astor Park on the way to Daytona early Friday morning. I had the western omelette with hash browns, while my friend had the traditional 3 egg breakfast, with bacon and biscuits. Everything came out cooked well, and seasoned just enough! Well, this place sure has a BIG menu. Everything from burgers to pizza and everything in between. This is our second visit here, and we have loved it both times. Breakfast was really good! The grits, breakfast potatoes, cinnamon French toast, all we're on point. However, the wait time for our food today was horrible. We waited over 45 minutes for two breakfast plates after ordering. The four top next to us ordered their food right before we did and they were finished eating before we got our breakfast. read more

I'm eating as writing this. The burgers are phenomenal. And they do this thing where it's almost like shoestring fries but onions and it's phenomenal. We had their onion strings and cheese sticks for an appetizer. Oh boy we couldn't finish everything, but it was delicious and cooked to perfection. Cute little roadside restaurant. There are 8-10 tables inside. They have a variety of sandwiches, dinner plates, pasta and pizza. They serve Pepsi products. I had a club sandwich and fries. It was a lot of food and very good. Server was good, despite being busy. It did take the kitchen quite a while but it was worth the wait. This is the double swamp burger I had for lunch and I was only able to eat 1/2 of it. Krystal & Carri attended to us very well, and Lance, Tim, Cheyanne & Elaina masterfully prepared our lunch and the other guests also. Each meal was delicious and cooked to perfection. Excellent little roadside restaurant. Nothing fancy, just damned good food. Their sweet tea is brewed in-house. The skillet burger was an amazingly hot iron skillet filled with meat, taters, onions, shrooms, gravy, and bottom bread. Wowsers! Just as good as my Momma made. The other half enjoyed her patty melt immensely. She ate the first half like a champ, only coming up for air once. The onion straws were thin, crispy, and fried just right. Based on everything that's important in my opinion this place has earned every star given out by my fellow Yelpers. Service - exceptional, attentive, very friendly and professional in a relaxed country setting. Menu - it's giant which always scares me but after watching dish after dish come out of the kitchen they definitely deliver the goods. Prices - beyond reasonable, there's lots of value for the dollar here. Onion Straw Appetizer - it's a ginormous serving, it arrived hot and seasoned perfect, so don't grab that salt shaker until you try them. The thinly sliced onions are freshly bread and fried to perfection in fresh grease. I really had to watch myself so I didn't fill up on these before the entrees arrived, they are really a must. Pizza - we ordered a small combination (sausage, pepperoni, onions, green peppers, black olives and cheese) - the crust is so good and the sauce stands on its own and plenty of stretchy cheese, they claim to be the best - no doubt maybe best in a restaurant that doesn't carry an Italian name lol. Country Fried Steak - mine was a non-tradition version, I prefer brown gravy over white whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner. The gravy is good I wish I could say great but I'm a gravy maker and this one doesn't feel like it was a focus but it works especially when distributed equally over the steak and thinly cut fries. Stopped in for breakfast on our way to the VFW car show and was not disappointed. Grabbed a bacon egg and cheese croissant and there was so much bacon. Not one or two little scraggly pieces, it was loaded with 5 or 6 perfectly cooked strips. So darn good! Plus added on the home fries and I LOVE that they are cooked with peppers and onions, most other places that's an up charge. Can't wait to head back and try their lunch/dinner menu next! This little place puts some lovin' in the oven! My husband and son stopped by on Friday night to grab a bite, and what a great experience. The restaurant is small and we had to wait about 20-30 minutes, but it was worth it! The servers were busy, but on top of things and really nice. The restaurant could easily be double the size it is and stay packed! We started with the pick 2 appetizer with onion straws and chicken tenders. The onion straws were crisp, savory and had a good sauce and the chicken tenders were hand battered, crispy perfection! I got the swamp pizza and my husband got momma's Spaghetti with a cup of soup. The Spaghetti tasted like my grandfather use to make, not really saucy, mostly meat, seasoning and just the right amount of ground beef juices. The real show stopped entree was the swamp pizza! It was probably the best pizza I've ever had! The sauce, bacon bits, perfectly crisp fries and crispy crust were a combination made in pizza heaven! Rating from F to A+++ I give it a definite A+++! We were doing some site seeing and stumbled across Sparky's and stopped for lunch. They have a large menu and options vary from sandwiches to full meals. I had a traditional club and my wife had a patty melt + Keylime pie. The staff are very friendly and the food was excellent. Our choices were probably not the most healthy but boy were they good. The food was prepared fresh - nothing sitting around and the quantities were more than we could eat. Though we are not in Astor very often, when we are, we will likely revisit Sparky's. read more

If I could give Sparky's 100/100 I would. We have driven 45 mins to come to breakfast and decided to try dinner. My husband ordered the Sparky's burger with moon cheese ring. I ordered the coconut shrimp with the onion straws. Of course we also had to get the swap fried and let me just tell you we have died and come back to heaven. The best coconut shrimp I have ever had and the Sparky's burger my husband put in his top 2 choices. The prices are great and the service is phenomenal. My husband and I stayed in the area for 6 weeks. On our first night we stumbled upon Sparky's Place. It's a small place, nothing fancy, but the food is fabulous!! We ate here 3 times during our stay. I always got the Skillet Burger without the bread. My husband first got the Philly Steak Sandwich and fries, which are hand cut and it was very good. Our last two times were on Wednesday which is all you can eat fish night, so he got that both times. It was amazingly good also!! Highly recommended this place if you are in the area. read more

The food was okay at best the rest of the experience was okay other than all the flies.

It's not easy to find a breakfast place in the Ocala National Forest or surrounding small towns, and it's almost impossible after 11 am. It was Sunday and we. were on an adventure. I had noticed this little place in my travels and decided to stop and give it a try. There were a few cars and motorcycles parked outside in the rugged lot and we were pleasantly surprised by the interior as you would never guess it was so cute and country from the outside. We noticed outdoor seating but the temperature was quite hot so we opted for indoors. There was a weird vibe when we walked in. The hostess was in no great hurry to seat us or make us feel comfortable. We were led to a booth and our server appeared who was much friendlier. It was 11:19 am and we were told we had missed breakfast by 19 minutes, very disappointing . We ordered coffee and looked over the menu. We really wanted breakfast but saw they advertised their pizza as the best in town (?) so we ordered a cheese calzone. We waited a very long time but when it finally arrived, my boyfriend who had never tried a calzone before scarfed it down. It was large and freshly made, the dough was tasty, inside was hot and very cheesy. The side of tomato sauce was also good. All that being said, we unfortunately came on the wrong day because this small little restaurant was about to accommodate a group of at least 15 guests, mostly women with babies, for s baby shower. They setup several connecting tables in the middle of the restaurant with balloons, gifts and high chairs. There was hardly any room to walk around and the loud chatter was disturbing. If we hadn't gotten our order in before they arrived we would still be waiting for our calzone. Others who arrived later were still not served when we left. I would like to give this place another try if we happen by here again only because there aren't many places to eat in the area, It has great potential and the prices were fair. Our food was also good .. Not sure about the service as it's been my experience people in this area are usually quite friendly but I'm guessing they were really stressed from this crowd. read more

I was extremely impressed by this little restaurant. There isn't many options around but when you find a good one it is worth it. The onion appetizer was absolutely amazing. The fully loaded baked potato was out of this world. The kids pizza was delicious homemade and not one of those frozen pizzas for sure. I would definitely recommend this little off the beaten path restaurant. I would visit it again. So many more menu items to try. read more
