Ambiance 4/5 Parking is actually quite nice around here. There is plenty of street parking that is either metered, or with a 2 hour limit. However, also plenty of residential parking behind ocean. The actual shop is very homey, with plenty of mismatched seating options, couches, tables benches, etc. Only caveat to the plentiful seating is that they are majority wooden chairs/benches which aren't the most comfortable if you plan to park for an extended period of time. The chalk board written menu, random potted plants, and rugs give the shop a very self decorated feel. In regards to a study location, I would say this is a pretty great. The store peeps don't mind if you sit for a long period of time, plenty of seating/tables, free wifi, not too loud of a setting (they do have music playing in the background), and outlets lining the periphery of the store, coffee and food... what more can you ask? Service 2.5/5 This is where it really drags down the review. It may have just been the day I was there, but the older male who was serving us was just like speaking to a wall. He was pretty rude to these kids in front of me trying to order hot chocolates and a cookie, and he started my order with a "what do you want?". Wasn't very helpful when I asked questions either. When my drink was ready, he called my order out once, and when i looked up, he waved at me impatiently as if I had left him waiting for 10 minutes or something. Food/Drinks 3/5 Caramel macchiato ($4.25) for a double shot, came in a 12 oz glass cup that was hot to touch. Taste wise it was pretty good though. There are also a large array of baked goods at the store front from "local bakeries". Loafs looked pretty good. Will probably be back to study, however, more likely won't be buying anything until the rude register guy is there. I mean c'mon, customer service is your job, that and common courtesy is expected of me and it isn't even my job. read more

I've been here a couple times and the sandwiches are good and most drinks a good. I'd give this place a 3.5 if I could but I can't so I'm rounding up. I wanted to leave this message specifically about the chai chiller, it needs more fruit less chai. The amount of chai makes it a little bitter. The white raspberry mocha is so gold and I'll be back for it specifically. read more

Conveniently located along the busy Ocean Ave so it's easy to spot. Plenty of drinks and foods on the menu for every palate. Customers are polite in keeping the place quiet even when crowded. Newspaper rack for reading materials, plus some outdoor seating, There's nothing like it around the area. Loss of stars for the dirty bathroom (puddling wet floor) on more than one visit, the hit-or-miss friendliness of the staff, the overly anti-Starbucks and "no-cellphone use while ordering" sign (understandable, but still). Next to Walgreens and across from the former public library. Parking directly in front is non-existent. On the side, there are a few metered spots. But, a block away are plenty of residential street parking (2-hr limits during weekdays) so it's all good. Heck, I'm heading over there after yelping this. read more

Java On Ocean Coffee House - Twin peaks bagel - Coffee & Tea Near Me - San Francisco, California

The food here is fine, I've been coming for years and most everything I order is pretty good! The service is ok based on who is serving you. The owner seems to be nicer than the other employees. What really made me finally review this place is the coffee. I've been ordering their coffee for over 3 years since I moved to the Ingleside and it's been great, and over the past few months something has changed. I asked if there was something different and they said no while giving me a weird look. It's not terrible, it's just not the same as it used to be which sucks because this was my weekly go-to. Probably not going back anymore, maybe for a bagel but for coffee I'll go to lucky ocean down the street or if I'm up for the walk, Philz is a few blocks down. It's definitely degraded in quality. read more

Very cute cafe. I have been here a few times before because I am intrigued by the pet birds they keep here. My order was taken right away as I walked in and they have all of the standard nondairy options. I got a oat milk latte and they made it just right:) I sat by the birds but there are definitely plenty of spaces to eat away from the birds if you do not like birdies. The space is vary large and the sun hits the place very nicely since it's at the corner of a street. They always have nice music as well. The streets outside on ocean are bustling with cars but inside I feel very peaceful. I ended up getting hungry and ordering one of their house special chicken hummus wraps to eat in. The owner (I think) brought my plate to my table and it was plated very nicely. There was plenty of chicken in the wrap and filled me up very well. Not like those wraps with more veg and hardly any meat. If you really like spicy then I would recommend asking for extra hot sauce since it's not very spicy. Overall I really recommend this place for the great service, yummy good quality food and drinks, and the nice ambience. read more

I was super satisfied with my coffee. I got a hot vanilla latte. I added hazelnut syrup. Everything tasted amazing and felt authentic. I also didn't feel bad or gassy after. It was just really good coffee. Amazing flavors. Super satisfying. I would like to come back! read more

Take this review with a grain of salt because my wife and I are coffee snobs. If we weren't I would have given 5 stars. I wish I could give 4.5 stars. The ambiance was chill and relax and it has a chill cafe with abundant seating. It felt like being in a cafe in Hawaii. The drinks were great and the pastries had good flavor, but didn't taste very fresh. The speciality late that my wife got was well curated and had flavors that went really well with each other. The only thing that would make this place perfect is better quality coffee although the coffee surpasses any coffee you would get from a chain coffee shop. read more

I was in need of my Sunday morning Coffee and decided to check this place out. This was my first time here and I ordered a Mexican Mocha after browsing their menu. I was very happy with my choice! The cinnamon worked really well with the chocolate flavor and I would definitely get this drink again! The coffee shop was homey and had a very nice atmosphere. The place was packed when I came and I saw a lot of people doing work. They have a good amount of seating which include tables and sofa couches and I can tell a lot of locals and students come here to chill and do work. The cashier was very nice and answered any questions I had. Besides coffee, they also sell smoothies, baked goods, bagels, sandwiches, Mediterranean foods and other specials. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area. read more

Java On Ocean Coffee House - Sandwich menu. Amazing breakfast burrito!!! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - San Francisco, California

Customer service is always so warm and friendly here whenever you step your foot in. I like to try random drinks since they have quite an option to choose from. I personally like their cappuccino and matcha latte just because it's not overly sweet which i love! i have tried their bagel (forgot which) but it was simply good, they give you generous amount of the spread for sure. ha ha.. only downside is that they're a bit pricey, especially in an area full of students. I enjoy the atmosphere here, plenty of space to seat and get some work done (of course not guaranteed depending on the day & how busy it gets).. I usually come here whenever i have classes at City since it's just a walk away rather than staying at the library. also love how bright it gets during the day, a little glim of light doesn't hurt, it actually wakes me up just a bit along with my coffee. read more

This place is a convenient location to grab a bite, study, or get coffee/tea with a friend. I stopped by with my friend to split the herb-roasted chicken sandwich with avocado. The chicken was great, but the avocado had a chewy texture and definitely did not taste like any avocado I had tasted. Next time I would opt for getting it without avocado. They have a ton of pastries (Mexican wedding cookies, almond halva, baklava, pumpkin bread, etc...). Next time I will be back for one of these =). read more

I enjoy their iced lattes in the morning normally. This one time I decided to be adventurous to try their rose latte, that was my mistake. It's just a preference thing, I love the smell and dislike the taste. It just reminds me of soap. If you like rose flavor, please don't let me deter you, and if not regular lattes or any other coffee drinks taste fine :D read more

Whatever middle aged gentleman, and I use that word loosely, was working at 1pm on 11/16/2024 was one of the rudest customer service experiences I have ever encountered. I am not a person that normally takes time to write bad reviews and I am normally easily impressed because I also work in customer service. I stood at the cash register for 5 minutes AFTER me and the gentleman made eye contact as he saw me come in (I'm assuming it was to finish his conversation with his colleague) after 5 minutes he finally chose to grace me with a stare down contest for what seemed forever. He finally approached me to take my order and as I looked over at the menu to remember the names of my items, he instead takes the orders of two younger children that came out of nowhere. They were children so I was not one to make a big deal, I can be patient enough it just seemed rude to do! Once he finally got back to me I began to tell him my order and before I could finish saying what size I wanted he cut me off and very rudely informed me they only had 20oz (which again was fine, but his tone and mannerisms were a bit shocking) I then told him that was fine. I told him which two smoothies I wanted and again in a rude tone told me to choose a milk I began to ask what options fearing another rude comeback and he rudely told me I needed to make a choice for the smoothies so to hurry up and end our interaction I told him soy. He looked at me and rudely repeated he needed to know what milk for my smoothie so I then had to repeat myself and told him that I already told him I selected soy. He then smiled and shook his head and walked away to make my smoothie I'm assuming. The interaction was so shockingly rude I told him to cancel the whole thing. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. I don't know if it's because I didn't come in my Sunday best, the color of my skin, or what the reason for such rudeness was but I will be sure to let everyone I know to never come to this place. The customer service is HORRIBLE. The man with the accent and glasses is sooo RUDE. He's rude to customers and to other employees. I really wanted to like this place because i love the coffee here but i don't pay for the attitude and sass that comes with my drink. I once ordered a "iced" rose latte. I clearly heard the lady at the register tell this man it was "iced". When I received my "hot" rose latte, I kindly requested for the man to remake. He yelled at his employee in front of me for not telling him it was "iced". I felt so bad for her. I told him she in fact did tell him it was "iced" and maybe he just missed it because it was loud. He then said that I was wrong and that she needs to learn how to do her job correctly. After only pouring my drink over ice instead of remaking it, he slammed my drink on the counter. When I kindly requested he make it correctly, he was furious and mumbled under his breath....i've come back a few times but I can't stand him being rude. I won't be coming anymore. read more

This place is underrated! I freaking love this place!! Great chill place to go and read or get some work done. Pretty much has it all. GREAT AMBIANCE and lighting that is hard to find these days (old building, lots of plants, huge windows, old rustic wooden tables and chairs, pretty cool art, good, chill music) the coffee is good and the service is friendly, depending who you get. Haven't tried much of the food, and doesn't look like amazing quality probably, but it's cool they have so much to choose from. Honestly my favorite coffee shop I've found in the bay. read more

3.5 Stars + Free Wi-fi + Accepts Credit Cards (with min. purchase) + Reasonable Prices + Great selection of baked treats - Music was too loud Java on Ocean Coffee House is a great spot to study if you're looking for a place with free internet access. I normally come here after my work out at the gym. The cafe is spacious. It has many seatings available and enough outlets for just about every table. Don't have a laptop? Not a problem. There are laptops here you could use. Food wise, I've only tried their sandwiches. I had the Pastrami Sandwich last time. Its pastrami, lettuce, tomatoes, bean sprouts (?), onions, and mustard on a Dutch roll. It's a pretty healthy sandwich I'd say. The pastrami was a tad dry. Portion size is a bit smaller than the norm. Not sure if I'd order this again =/ They also have a pretty huge selection of baked goods on the counter. I have yet to try any of them yet but the red velvet cakes look pretty darn good. I might skip the sandwich and opt for a cake next time. read more

This is a great place to relax and have a strong coffee. Hossam, the owner, is very nice and makes you feel welcome each time you walk in. The place is super cozy with grungy sofas, worn out armchairs, and wooden cafe tables sprinkled with students, 24 Fitnessers, regulars, and locals. They have a wireless setup and computers if you fancy. Loads of bottled drinks to try, great snacks, excellent mediterranean dishes and they cater also. I don't have anything against birds as pets but the two chirping prisioners might be better left at home. Other than that, the decor is hodge podge multicultural with artifacts from Egypt, South America, Middle East, Thailand, and last weeks yard sale. It's very relaxing and easy to strike up conversation. Parking is difficult unless you go to Walgreens next door for a quick whatever and sneak a coffee. Just tell the guy watching the lot, he's cool. Tell Hossam, James sent ya. read more

I found this cafe on my way to Whole Foods on Ocean Av.e. This place is surprisingly big with variety of seats available. ( sofa, chairs, coffee table, etc...) Ordered bagel with cucumber tomato and cream cheese wand Chai Mocha for almost $10 which I don't find it worth the pennies to be honest. The decor is sort of out dated and the music sounds really unique with West Asian style around it. Lighting is good and it's nice to be able sit on a sofa doing this review. If you can't find parking on Ocean Ave, try to do park in front of Walgreen. Be careful with the time you park there since they are keeping an eye for it. read more

I have an accent. The guy at the front desk. knows what I want, still trying to correct me in a silly way. When I was ordering, he was working on something else and he got one other order. There is a $5 minimum payment with card. So I had to buy a small piece of wrapped cake for $3.50 to use my card. He didn't even bother to give me a plate. (You know how it is like) If you hate rude people and don't want deal with them at the beginning of your day, stay away from this one. This said, I like the 'place'. My food was not ready! The place was not busy when I walked in. I asked how long before it is ready? Was told five minutes. They made it in 3 minutes. The employee there said sometimes they are busy so they don't pick up the phone. But next time if I want to check on my order, I can call. What the heck?
