Coffee options definitely hit. Matcha was eh, more on the lighter/milky taste. The salted cream on top was good though. Service was nice and quick. Place is cute and small.
I had been hearing a lot about this place and finally got a chance to try it, last time I stopped by, I didn't realize they were closed on Monday! I asked for a Creme Brulee Viet coffee, and my coworker stopped by to grab one for me. He said the place wasn't too packed when he went, and the service was quick. I looked at the coffee and thought it looked pretty good already, mixed it up a bit, and took a sip, and wow, what a combo of the Creme Brulee with the jolt of the Vietnamese Coffee. I enjoyed the flavors that it brought and wish I had finished this earlier in the day, rather than later in the afternoon. Truth be told, I had a harder time sleeping that night than when I normally have my regular cup of coffee ;D.

What drew me was the banana and sesame Vietnamese coffee, which isn't something sold at most coffee and boba shops in the peninsula. Ordered the pistachio and sesame Vietnamese coffee. The coffee is strong! Can customize ice and sweetness levels too. Parking can be a bit tight as the lot is shared among many other shops and it's in the middle of Park Merced so can be a bit difficult to find. Ordering was a breeze and if you have Snackpass, you can earn rewards by continuing to shop there. At 7-7.50 a drink, it's about in line with other boba/drinks now so I think it's good value. Especially bc the coffee is strong! Will come back to try other coffees and their matcha drinks too. Matcha drinks look to be handmade upon ordering (not mass produced ahead of time, which is nice to see)

I got a banana cream matcha with oat milk ($0.80) and an extra shot of matcha ($3). Everyone else got Vietnamese coffee and between all of us we tried the salted cream, banana cream, and black sesame cream coffees. I loved my matcha and the banana cream had such strong banana flavor. I'm not sure if I would've liked it as much without the additional shot of matcha, but I'll have to try it next time. I also thought it was a pretty reasonable price for a matcha latte, starting at $7.25 - some places are getting up to $10+. I'm not a coffee person, but heard that the coffees were strong and flavorful. Seems like a really nice addition to the area, especially for students. Would be even better if they could partner with a local bakery to offer some pastries, and a few more non-caffeinated options since there's only one on the current menu.

Been meaning to try this place and so glad I did. Needed something strong and staff mentioned their Vietnamese coffees are it. Tried the pistachio cream Vietnamese coffee and it was good and strong. They even added some crushed pistachios on top. When I mixed in the cream I could taste the hint of nuttiness. The pistachio bits were also a nice add. Enjoyed the space and will come back to try the matcha. Note this is located closer to the Park Merced apartments rather than SF State. read more

I really enjoyed their sea salt Vietnamese coffee (ca phe muoi). I have been looking for this since coming back from my Vietnam trip. It's easily found in Orange County; less of a common offering in SF Bay Area, so I was happy to see that this place had it. I got one with less ice and regular sweetness, which I thought was too sweet but was better after the ice melted a bit. I also got one no ice and less sweet and I added some milk when I got home to thin out the strong coffee a bit. However, this sacrifices on the salted flavor. I think my ideal would be regular sweet and regular ice as intended. We also tried their creme brulee matcha which was fine. Not a super strong matcha flavor and leaned more watery than creamy. It would appease if you had a craving for a matcha latte though. Could not really make out the creme brulee flavor so I would maybe just do a regular matcha latte or another one of their flavored matcha drinks. This is located near SF state. There is a parking lot available. Somewhat limited seating, but I'm not sure how busy they get. read more
I've been here twice within the span of a week! I love how Jade & Java is a straightforward cafe that delivers on their drinks while also having a cute, unique aesthetic. I ordered the black sesame matcha both times I went...the black sesame cream top is just too delicious! It does make the drink more creamy for those who prefer something less of that. I took a sip of their vietnamese coffee and that tastes great as well, I would definitely order that in the future. Service was friendly and fast. Heard about this place through social media and decided to stop by on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't busy, and we got our drinks pretty quickly. The matcha itself was good, creamy, smooth, and had a strong, authentic matcha flavor. The cream toppings were a bit inconsistent. The crème brûlée topping didn't fully cover the surface of the drink. It was mostly a small patch in the center over the ice and only lightly torched. That drink also didn't reach the top of the cup, and I thought the cream would fill the rest, but it didn't like the black sesame topping did. Flavor wise, everything tasted as expected, and the matcha was definitely well made. I'd come back to try their Vietnamese coffee and other matcha drinks next time. I can see this spot becoming really popular, especially being so close to SFSU. There are a few seating options inside, so it's also a nice place to hang out and relax for a bit. read more

Cute little cafe with a kiosk self ordering system First time coming to try them out and both my friend and I ordered the banana latte and another drink. The banana latte was absolutely AMAZING. I'm sure they use real bananas when making the milk that goes into it. It was delicious and worth a second trip! I ordered the cocomango (I think that's what it was called) and brought it home to enjoy later. Cute new cafe hidden in park merced. They offer an extensive menu of specialty matchas and vietnamese coffee too. When you walk in, there are 2 self order kiosks to greet you. The issue I had was choosing a drink. I ended up getting the salted cream matcha, but I want to come by and try the creme brulee and black sesame cream matchas. Alas I had to control myself and did not order 2 drinks this time. The matcha was good, it tasted like something I would make at home. The salted cream was good. If they offered a bigger size I would probably order it, I drank my drink so fast. Will be back soon, parking was fairly easy and drink came out quickly. read more

New Boba Shop on the Block Car themed cafe! The owners organizes weekly car meets in the parking lot. Owners are nice and makes the boba themselves. Vibe: Slow R&B, hip hop, more masculine, young. Matcha and Viet Coffee specialty Self-order on two screens or they are able to help you too No hot food but they have a small fridge with cakes, packaged waffles, packaged muffins and sodas. Corners chips. So great to have a new boba shop around here. Pink velvet drink was good. The fruit teas are popular and sell out quickly. Hot tip: even after asking for less sweet it was still very sweet! If you don't like too sweet make sure to let them know. Lots of seating. It's black walls so it feels dark. read more

I was so excited to see another matcha spot open up near SFSU! The space has great seating, a killer playlist, and plenty of drink options to suit everyone's taste. I tried the Strawberry Matcha and the SunsetSki. The SunsetSki was incredibly refreshing, definitely one I'll be coming back for. The Strawberry Matcha had the perfect amount of sweetness and was beautifully balanced. I can't wait to come back and try more drinks to see which one is my ultimate favorite. I saw they had some snacks like chips and muffins but wondering if they will expand their snack menu or serve food in the future. Solid spot and I will definitely be returning :) read more
I found out about this place from my friend a while ago when she came here for a car event. It's been on my list of places to try ever since. I finally stopped by over the weekend with my friend, and we got some tea and hung out at the café for a while. I got the matcha with coconut, which I was excited to see they had on their menu. Edit: please update the rewards app. The shop isn't even on Snackpass I FREAKING love this place. I visit my girlfriend over in Orange County, Westminster area every few months. It's a very Vietnamese prominent area so they have A LOT of Vietnamese coffee drink spots. I always went to 2 specific coffee spots for iced Vietnamese coffee - DaVien and Airoma. Those spots are SOOOO good that I'm always sad coming back home to SF because I could never find a spot that reminds me of those 2 places. I literally would order Vietnamese coffee from any spot if it's on the menu just to hope it's good. Decided to give Jade & Java cafe by accident when looking for lunch spots. Pricing is about $6-7 per drink. They're about Starbucks grande size. I will say compared to drinks in OC, I was getting Starbucks venti sized cups for $7 so it's a bit on the pricey side. Albeit, the flavor is very similar and hits the spot for me. I just wish one day they'll offer bigger size drinks as an option. Location is very easy to get to. Located a little bit past SF STATE within Park Merced. It's located in a small strip of area that has other food spots. There's a parking lot and also street parking right next to it. I've came here maybe 4 times now and never had trouble finding parking The kind of Vietnamese coffee I like is one where it isn't majority ice like most places. It isn't watered down. It's not just black coffee with condensed milk. It's exactly like this place has it where it's still pretty strong like Vietnamese coffee is known for but has a good amount of sweet to it. I love that there's a variety of options like DaVien and Airoma too. They have a crème brulee one which reminds me of the egg cream coffee, sea salt cream, black sesame, and banana cream. Loved each of our drinks. We got the matcha with banana cream, Vietnamese coffee with sea salt cream, manglow, and Vietnamese coffee with banana cream. The banana cream taste shows up when mixed in all the drinks we got and gave each drink an upgraded taste. Very sweet but yummy. The Vietnamese coffee is strong. The Manglow was yummy, strong milk taste but the mango jelly sweetness balanced it. Matcha was like any other matcha drink but the banana cream enhanced the drink flavor so well. Great place to stop for a matcha or coffee fix. My coffee loving husband enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee and the creme brulee matcha was great. You can tell they use ceremonial grade matcha. Definitely check it out if you're in SF! read more
Cute cafe located near Park Merced with matcha and Vietnamese coffee options! I came here with a friend to study and grabbed the Classic Matcha. The matcha was lightly sweetened. I would come back and try their other drinks! We were able to grab a table in the back; it got super sunny and hot inside. There was limited seating though but wifi was solid. read more

Just moved to the area and happened to stumble upon this gem while returning my U-Haul next door. I love how cozy this lil spot is. Right next to SF state too! The drink menu was definitely captivating as it had the staples for sure- variations of the matcha latte, variations of Vietnamese coffee, and then fruity milk teas. Yum! I ordered the strawberry milk tea, aka "Pink Velvet". Super refreshing, not too sweet. Little pink jellies swimming in there also. In fact, I was writing this review the first time I came into this cafe and never finished it. I'm back again today and finally posting this! 10/10, gotta try Jade & Java!
